JOURNAL/nrgr/04.03/01300535-202502000-00027/figure1/v/2024-05-28T214302Z/r/image-tiff Neurotoxic astrocytes are a promising therapeutic target for the attenuation of cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury. Low-density lipoprotein receptor, a classic cholesterol regulatory receptor, has been found to inhibit NLR family pyrin domain containing protein 3 (NLRP3) inflammasome activation in neurons following ischemic stroke and to suppress the activation of microglia and astrocytes in individuals with Alzheimer's disease. However, little is known about the effects of low-density lipoprotein receptor on astrocytic activation in ischemic stroke. To address this issue in the present study, we examined the mechanisms by which low-density lipoprotein receptor regulates astrocytic polarization in ischemic stroke models. First, we examined low-density lipoprotein receptor expression in astrocytes via immunofluorescence staining and western blotting analysis. We observed significant downregulation of low-density lipoprotein receptor following middle cerebral artery occlusion reperfusion and oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation. Second, we induced the astrocyte-specific overexpression of low-density lipoprotein receptor using astrocyte-specific adeno-associated virus. Low-density lipoprotein receptor overexpression in astrocytes improved neurological outcomes in middle cerebral artery occlusion mice and reversed neurotoxic astrocytes to create a neuroprotective phenotype. Finally, we found that the overexpression of low-density lipoprotein receptor inhibited NLRP3 inflammasome activation in oxygen-glucose deprivation/reoxygenation injured astrocytes and that the addition of nigericin, an NLRP3 agonist, restored the neurotoxic astrocyte phenotype. These findings suggest that low-density lipoprotein receptor could inhibit the NLRP3-meidiated neurotoxic polarization of astrocytes and that increasing low-density lipoprotein receptor in astrocytes might represent a novel strategy for treating cerebral ischemic stroke.

In the pursuit of high-performance energy storage systems, four-electron zinc-iodine aqueous batteries (4eZIBs) with successive I-/I2/I+ redox couples are appealing for their potential to deliver high energy density and resource abundance. However, the susceptibility of positive valence I+ to hydrolysis and the instability of Zn plating/stripping in conventional aqueous electrolyte pose significant challenges. In response, we introduce polyethylene glycol (PEG 200) as a co-solvent in 2 m ZnCl2 aqueous solution to design a wide temperature electrolyte. Through a comprehensive investigation combining spectroscopic characterizations and theoretical simulations, we elucidate that PEG disrupts the intrinsic strong H-bonds of water by global weak PEG-H2O interaction, which strengthens the O-H covalent bond of water and intensifies the coordination with Zn2+. This synergistic effect substantially reduces water activity to restrain the I+ hydrolysis, facilitating I-/I2/I+ redox kinetics, mitigating I3 - formation, and smoothening Zn deposition. The 4eZIBs in the optimized hybrid electrolyte not only deliver superior cyclability with a low fading rate of 0.0009% per cycle over 20000 cycles and a close-to-unit coulombic efficiency, but also exhibit stable performance in a wide temperature range from 40 °C to -40 °C. This study explored the effects of steam explosion-modified rice bran dietary fiber (S-RBDF) on red date-flavored naan quality and flavor characteristics. The results revealed that the rheological properties of the dough were improved with the incremental addition of S-RBDF (0-5%). The microstructure revealed that adding an appropriate amount of S-RBDF (1-5%) enabled more starch granules to be embedded in the dough network. Notably, the addition of 5% S-RBDF resulted in naan with an optimum specific volume and texture, which consumers preferred. Additionally, gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis showed that adding S-RBDF to naan contributed to the retention and sustained release of pleasant volatile compounds (e.g. red date flavor, etc.), while inhibiting the development of unpleasant volatile compounds by delaying the oxidation and decomposition of lipids and preserving the antioxidant phenolic compounds, thus contributing to flavor maintenance of naan during storage. Overall, these results provided a foundation for developing high-quality flavored naan.

A colorimetric analysis platform has been successfully developed based on FeCo-NC dual-atom nanozyme (FeCo-NC DAzyme) for the detection of organophosphorus pesticides (OPPs). The FeCo-NC DAzyme exhibited exceptional oxidase-like activity (OXD), enabling the catalysis of colorless TMB to form blue oxidized TMB (oxTMB) without the need for H2O2 involvement. By combining acid phosphatase (ACP) hydrolase with FeCo-NC DAzyme, a "FeCo-NC DAzyme + TMB + ACP + SAP" colorimetric system was constructed, which facilitated the rapid detection of malathion. The chromogenic system was applied to detect malathion using a smartphone-based app and an auxiliary imaging interferogram device for colorimetric measurements, which have a linear range of 0.05-4.0 µM and a limit of detection (LOD) as low as 15 nM in real samples, comparable to UV-Vis and HPLC-DAD detection methods. Overall, these findings present a novel approach for convenient, rapid, and on-site monitoring of OPPs.

BACKGROUND: The adaptor protein apoptosis-associated speck-like protein (ASC) containing a caspase recruitment domain (CARD) can be activated through pyrin domain (PYD) interactions between sensors and ASC, and through CARD interactions between caspase-1 and ASC. Although the majority of ternary inflammasome complexes depend on ASC, drugs targeting ASC protein remain scarce. After screening natural compounds from Isatidis Radixin, we found that tryptanthrin (TPR) could inhibit NLRP3-induced IL-1ß and caspase-1 production, but the underlying anti-inflammatory mechanisms remain to be elucidated. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to determine the impact of TPR on the NLRP3, NLRC4, and AIM2 inflammasomes and the underlying mechanisms. Additionally, the efficacy of TPR was analysed in the further course of methionine- and choline-deficient (MCD)-induced NASH and lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced sepsis models of mice. METHODS: In vitro studies used bone marrow-derived macrophages to assess the anti-inflammatory activity of TPR, and the techniques included western blot, testing of intracellular K+ and Ca2+, immunofluorescence, enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), co-immunoprecipitation, ASC oligomerization assay, surface plasmon resonance (SPR), and molecular docking. We used LPS-induced sepsis models and MCD-induced NASH models in vivo to evaluate the effectiveness of TPR in inhibiting inflammatory diseases. RESULTS: Our observations suggested that TPR could inhibit NLRP3, NLRC4, and AIM2 inflammasome activation. As shown in a mouse model of inflammatory diseases caused by MCD-induced NASH and LPS-induced sepsis, TPR significantly alleviated the progression of diseases. TPR interrupted the interactions between ASC and NLRP3/NLRC4/AIM2 in the co-immunoprecipitation experiment, and stable binding of TPR to ASC was also evident in SPR experiments. The underlying mechanisms of anti-inflammatory activities of TPR might be associated with targeting ASC, in particular, PYD domain of ASC. CONCLUSION: In general, the requirement for ASC in multiple inflammasome complexes makes TPR, as a novel broad-spectrum inflammasome inhibitor, potentially useful for treating a wide range of multifactorial inflammasome-related diseases.

BACKGROUND: The short-term adverse effects of ambient fine particulate matter (PM2.5) and ozone (O3) on anxiety disorders (ADs) remained inconclusive. METHODS: We applied an individual-level time-stratified case-crossover study, which including 126,112 outpatient visits for ADs during 2019-2021 in Guangdong province, China to investigate the association of short-term exposure to PM2.5 and O3 with outpatient visits for ADs, and estimate excess outpatient visits in South China. Daily residential air pollutant exposure assessments were performed by extracting grid data (spatial resolution: 1 km × 1 km) from validated datasets. We employed the conditional logistic regression model to quantify the associations and excess outpatient visits. RESULTS: The results of the single-pollutant models showed that each increase of 10 µg/m3 in PM2.5 and O3 exposures was significantly associated with a 3.14 % (95 % confidence interval: 2.47 %, 3.81 %) and 0.88 % (0.49 %, 1.26 %) increase in odds of outpatient visits for ADs, respectively. These associations remained robust in 2-pollutant models. The proportion of outpatient visits attributable to PM2.5 and O3 exposures was up to 7.20 % and 8.93 %, respectively. Older adults appeared more susceptible to PM2.5 exposure, especially in cool season, and subjects with recurrent outpatient visits were more susceptible to O3 exposure. LIMITATION: As our study subjects were from one single hospital in China, it should be cautious when generalizing our findings to other regions. CONCLUSION: Short-term exposure to ambient PM2.5 and O3 was significantly associated with a higher odds of outpatient visits for ADs, which can contribute to considerable excess outpatient visits.

Background: Tuberculous meningitis (TBM) is the most severe form of tuberculosis (TB) and can be difficult to diagnose and treat. We aimed to describe the clinical presentation, diagnosis, disease spectrum, outcome, and prognostic factors of patients treated for TBM in China. Methods: A multicenter retrospective study was conducted from 2009 to 2019 enrolling all presumptive TBM patients referred to Xijing tertiary Hospital from 27 referral centers in and around Shaanxi province, China. Patients with clinical features suggestive of TBM (abnormal CSF parameters) were included in the study if they had adequate baseline information to be classified as "confirmed," "probable," or "possible" TBM according to international consensus TBM criteria and remained in follow-up. Patients with a confirmed alternative diagnosis or severe immune compromise were excluded. Clinical presentation, central nervous system imaging, cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) results, TBM score, and outcome-assessed using the modified Barthel disability index-were recorded and compared. Findings: A total of 341 presumptive TBM patients met selection criteria; 63 confirmed TBM (25 culture positive, 42 Xpert-MTB/RIF positive), 66 probable TBM, 163 possible TBM, and 49 "not TBM." Death was associated with BMRC grade III (OR = 5.172; 95%CI: 2.298-11.641), TBM score ≥ 15 (OR = 3.843; 95%CI: 1.372-10.761), age > 60 years (OR = 3.566; 95%CI: 1.022-12.442), and CSF neutrophil ratio ≥ 25% (OR = 2.298; 95%CI: 1.027-5.139). Among those with confirmed TBM, nearly one-third (17/63, 27.0%) had a TBM score < 12; these patients exhibited less classic meningitis symptoms and signs and had better outcomes compared with those with a TBM score ≥ 12. In this group, signs of disseminated/miliary TB (OR = 12.427; 95%CI: 1.138-135.758) and a higher TBM score (≥15, OR = 8.437; 95%CI: 1.328-53.585) were most strongly associated with death. Conclusion: TBM patients who are older (>60 years) have higher TBM scores or CSF neutrophil ratios, have signs of disseminated/miliary TB, and are at greatest risk of death. In general, more effort needs to be done to improve early diagnosis and treatment outcome in TBM patients.

China has been continuously improving its monitoring methods and strategies to address key infectious diseases (KIDs). After the severe acute respiratory syndrome epidemic in 2003, China established a comprehensive reporting system for infectious diseases (IDs) and public health emergencies. The relatively lagging warning thresholds, limited warning information, and outdated warning technology are insufficient to meet the needs of comprehensive monitoring for modern KIDs. Strengthening early monitoring and warning capabilities to enhance the public health system has become a top priority, with increasing demand for early warning thresholds, information, and techniques, thanks to constant innovation and development in molecular biology, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, and other identification and analysis technologies. A panel of 31 experts has recommended a fourth-generation comprehensive surveillance system targeting KIDs (41 notifiable diseases and emerging IDs). The aim of this surveillance system is to systematically monitor the epidemiology and causal pathogens of KIDs in hosts such as humans, animals, and vectors, along with associated environmental pathogens. By integrating factors influencing epidemic spread and risk assessment, the surveillance system can serve to detect, predict, and provide early warnings for the occurrence, development, variation, and spread of known or novel KIDs. Moreover, we recommend comprehensive ID monitoring based on the fourth-generation surveillance system, along with a data-integrated monitoring and early warning platform and a consortium pathogen detection technology system. This series of considerations is based on systematic and comprehensive monitoring across multiple sectors, dimensions, factors, and pathogens that is supported by data integration and connectivity. This expert consensus will provides an opportunity for collaboration in various fields and relies on interdisciplinary application to enhance comprehensive monitoring, prediction, and early warning capabilities for the next generation of ID surveillance. This expert consensus will serve as a reference for ID prevention and control as well as other related activities.

BACKGROUND: Many older adult patients receive low-dose teicoplanin with varied regimens, leading to a lack of clarity on its optimal regimens and toxicity profiles in China. This study aimed to clarify these aspects by analyzing teicoplanin treatment concentrations and toxicities. METHODS: We included older adult patients administered teicoplanin at four tertiary hospitals in Beijing from June 2021 to July 2023, targeting a trough concentration (Cmin) ≥ 10 mg/L. Teicoplanin concentrations and toxicities were monitored dynamically. RESULTS: From 204 patients, we obtained 632 teicoplanin concentrations. Most patients (83.3%) received low-dose regimens. Suboptimal concentrations were found in 66.4% of patients within 7 days of treatment and 17.0% after 15 days. Cmin gradually increased with treatment duration and was influenced initially by creatinine and by both body weight and creatinine from days 8 to 14. The target concentration was achieved in 53.1%, 33.9%, 15.6%, and 5.5% of patients at 3, ≤ 7, 8-14, and ≥ 15 days after withdrawal, respectively. Slow elimination was associated with average Cmin and eGFR. Nephrotoxicity, hepatotoxicity, and thrombocytopenia occurred in 12.5%, 4.1%, and 31.5% of patients, respectively, without significant differences between concentrations. CONCLUSIONS: Most older adult patients were underdosed, indicating a need for dose adjustment. Given the varied risk factors for suboptimal concentrations in different treatment stages, a one-size-fits-all regimen was ineffective. We recommend an initial dose of 400 mg at 12-h intervals for the first three days, with subsequent doses from days 4 to 14 adjusted based on creatinine and body weight; after day 14, a maintenance dose of 200 mg daily is advised. Pyrus (pear) is among the most nutritious fruits and contains fibers that have great health benefits to humans. It is mostly cultivated in temperate regions globally and is highly subjected to biotic and abiotic stresses which affect its yield. Pheophorbide a oxygenase (PAO) is an essential component of the chlorophyll degradation system and contributes to the senescence of leaves. It is responsible for opening the pheophorbide a porphyrin macrocycle and forming the main fluorescent chlorophyll catabolite However, this gene family and its members have not been explored in Pyrus genomes. Here we report a pangenome-wide investigation has been conducted on eight Pyrus genomes: Cuiguan, Shanxi Duli, Zhongai 1, Nijisseiki, Yunhong No.1, d'Anjou, Bartlett v2.0, and Dangshansuli v.1.1. The phylogenetic history, their gene structure, conservation patterns of motifs, their distribution on chromosomes, and gene duplication are studied in detail which shows the intraspecific structural conservation as well as evolutionary patterns of Pyrus PAOs. Cis-elements, protein-protein interactions (PPI), and the Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analyses show their potential biological functions. Furthermore, their expression in various tissues, fruit hardening conditions, and drought stress conditions is also studied. Based on phylogenetics, the identified PAOs were divided into four groups. The expansion of this gene family in Pyrus is caused by both tandem and segmental duplication. Moreover, positive and negative selection pressure equally directed the gene's duplication process. The Pyrus PAO genes were enriched in hormones-related, light, development, and stress-related elements. RNA-seq data analysis showed that PAOs have varied levels of expression under diseased and abiotic stress conditions. The 3D structures of PAOs are also predicted to get more insights into functional conservation. Our research can be used further to get a deeper knowledge of the PAO gene family in Pyrus and to guide future research on improving the genetic composition of Pyrus to enhance stress tolerance.

Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are widely considered as a reliable and promising class of markers in the field of liquid biopsy. As CTCs undergo epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT), phenotype detection of heterogeneous CTCs based on EMT markers is of great significance. In this report, an integrated analytical strategy that can simultaneously capture and differentially detect epithelial- and mesenchymal-expressed CTCs in bloods of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLS) patients is proposed. First, a commercial biomimetic polycarbonate (PCTE) microfiltration membrane is employed as the capture interface for heterogenous CTCs. Meanwhile, differential detection of the captured CTCs is realized by preparing two distinct CdTe quantum dots (QDs) with red and green emissions, attached with EpCAM and Vimentin aptamers, respectively. For combined analysis, a polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) chip with simple structure is designed, which integrates the membrane capture and QDs-based phenotype detection of CTCs. This chip not only implements the analysis of the number of CTCs down to 2 cells mL-1, but enables EMT process tracking according to the specific signals of the two QDs. Finally, this method is successfully applied to inspect the correlations of numbers or proportions of heterogenous CTCs in 94 NSCLS patients with disease stage and whether there is distant metastasis.

PURPOSE: Rapunzel syndrome is an uncommon condition in children, and its clinical features remain unclear. This study presents the largest single-center series of pediatric cases to date, with the objective of documenting the clinical characteristics and treatment approaches for children with Rapunzel syndrome. METHODS: A retrospective study was conducted in children with Rapunzel syndrome from 2019 to 2023. We recorded age, gender, symptoms, locations of bezoar, complications, and treatment options. RESULTS: Ten patients with Rapunzel syndrome were included. The median age was 9.1 years, with all of whom were female. The most common clinical symptoms were upper abdominal mass (90%), abdominal pain (80%), and nausea and vomiting (50%). Complications occurred in six cases (60%), including small bowel obstruction (20%), severe gastric dilatation (10%), intestinal perforation (10%), choledochodilation (10%), acute pancreatitis with cholecystitis (10%). Preoperative ultrasonography suggested low-echoic foreign bodies continuing to the jejunum or ileocecal region in five cases (50%). Preoperative gastroscopy attempted in four cases (40%) to remove the foreign bodies, all of which failed. All patients underwent surgical treatment, with nine cases undergoing gastric incision foreign body removal, and one case undergoing gastric incision foreign body removal combined with intestinal perforation repair. All patients recovered well. No recurrence was observed during follow-up. CONCLUSION: The accuracy of ultrasound diagnosis in identifying Rapunzel syndrome is high; however, it may lead to misdiagnosis if not complemented with the patient's medical history. Endoscopic presents a heightened treatment risk and a reduced success rate. The condition commonly presents with severe complications, thus making laparotomy a safe and effective option for intervention.

OBJECTIVE: Acyl-CoA thioesterase 13 (ACOT13) is involved in lipid biosynthesis, gene transcription, and signal transduction. We explored the potential of ACOT13 to predict ovarian cancer (OC) prognosis and patient immunotherapy responses. METHODS: The Cancer Genome Atlas and Gene Expression Omnibus databases were used to extract raw data. To investigate the potential of ACOT13 as a prognostic and immunotherapeutic marker for OC, bioinformatic analyses were performed using the TIMER website, LinkedOmics database, and R software. We also explored the effects on the invasive ability of OC cells in vitro using a ACOT13 knockdown. RESULTS: The expression of ACOT13 in OC was high and associated with a better prognosis. The expression of ACOT13 was also linked to immune cell invasion immunity-related gene expression. Additionally, immunotherapy was more effective in patients with high ACOT13 expression levels. Multiple critical signaling pathways were found to be involved in the role of ACOT13 in energy metabolism and cell mobility based on Gene Ontology and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes analyses. OC cells invaded and migrated significantly more when ACOT13 was knocked down. CONCLUSION: High ACOT13 expression in OC is associated to a better OC outcome.

Neurogenesis, play a vital role in neuronal plasticity of adult mammalian brains, and its dysregulation is present in the pathophysiology of Parkinson's disease (PD). While subthalamic nucleus deep brain stimulation (STN-DBS) at various frequencies has been proven effective in alleviating PD symptoms, its influence on neurogenesis remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the effects of 1-week electrical stimulation at frequencies of 60Hz, 130Hz, and 180Hz on neurogenesis in the subventricular zone (SVZ) of PD rats. A hemiparkinsonian rat model was established using 6-hydroxydopamine and categorized into six groups: control, PD, sham stimulation, 60Hz stimulation, 130Hz stimulation, and 180Hz stimulation. Motor function was assessed using the open field test and rotarod test after one week of STN-DBS at different frequencies. Tyrosine hydroxylase (TH) expression in brain tissue was analyzed via Western blot and immunohistochemistry. Immunofluorescence analysis was conducted to evaluate the expression of BrdU/Sox2, BrdU/GFAP, Ki67/GFAP, and BrdU/DCX in bilateral SVZ and the rostral migratory stream (RMS). Our findings revealed that high-frequency STN-DBS improved motor function. Specifically, stimulation at 130Hz increased dopaminergic neuron survival in the PD rat model, while significantly enhancing the proliferation of neural stem cells (NSCs) and neuroblasts in bilateral SVZ. Moreover, this stimulation effectively facilitated the generation of new NSCs in the ipsilateral RMS and triggered the emergence of fresh neuroblasts in bilateral RMS, with notable presence within the lesioned striatum. Conversely, electrical stimulation at 60Hz and 180Hz did not exhibit comparable effects. The observed promotion of neurogenesis in PD rats following STN-DBS provides valuable insights into the mechanistic basis of this therapeutic approach for PD.

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other respiratory diseases frequently present with airway mucus hypersecretion, which not only affects the patient's quality of life but also poses a constant threat to their life expectancy. Ubiquitin-specific protease 7 (USP7), a deubiquitinating enzyme, affects cell differentiation, tissue growth, and disease development. However, its role in airway mucus hypersecretion induced by COPD remains elusive. In this study, USP7 expression was significantly upregulated in airway epithelial samples from patients with COPD, and USP7 was also overexpressed in mouse lung and human airway epithelial cells in models of airway mucus hypersecretion. Inhibition of USP7 reduced the expression of nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB), phosphorylated-NF-κB (p-NF-κB), and phosphonated inhibitor of nuclear factor kappa B (p-IκBα), and alleviated the airway mucus hypersecretion in vivo and in vitro. Further research revealed that USP7 stimulated airway mucus hypersecretion through the activation of NF-κB nuclear translocation. In addition, the expression of mucin 5AC (MUC5AC) was suppressed by the NF-κB inhibitor erdosteine. These findings suggest that USP7 stimulates the NF-κB signaling pathway, which promotes airway mucus hypersecretion. This study identifies one of the mechanisms regulating airway mucus secretion and provides a new potential target for its prevention and treatment.

Zirconia faces challenges in dental implant applications due to its inherent biological inertness, which compromises osseointegration, a critical factor for the long-term success of implants that rely heavily on specific cell adhesion and enhanced osteogenic activity. Here, we fabricated a dual-functional coating that incorporates strontium ions, aimed at enhancing osteogenic activity, along with an integrin-targeting sequence to improve cell adhesion by mussel byssus-inspired surface chemistry. The results indicated that although the integrin-targeting sequence at the interface solely enhances osteoblast adhesion without directly increasing osteogenic activity, its synergistic interaction with the continuously released strontium ions from the coating, as compared to the release of strontium ions alone, significantly enhances the overall osteogenic effect. More importantly, compared to traditional polydopamine surface chemistry, the coating surface is enriched with amino groups capable of undergoing various chemical reactions and exhibits enhanced stability and aesthetic appeal. Therefore, the synergistic interplay between strontium and the functionally customizable surface offers considerable potential to improve the success of zirconia implantation.

In order to improve the detection performance of image fusion in focus areas and realize end-to-end decision diagram optimization, we design a multi-focus image fusion network based on deep learning. The network is trained using unsupervised learning and a multi-scale hybrid attention residual network model is introduced to enable solving for features at different levels of the image. In the training stage, multi-scale features are extracted from two source images with different focal points using hybrid multi-scale residual blocks (MSRB), and the up-down projection module (UDP) is introduced to obtain multi-scale edge information, then the extracted features are operated to obtain deeper image features. These blocks can effectively utilize multi-scale feature information without increasing the number of parameters. The deep features of the image are extracted in its test phase, input to the spatial frequency domain to calculate and measure the activity level and obtain the initial decision map, and use post-processing techniques to eliminate the edge errors. Finally, the decision map is generated and optimized, and the final fused image is obtained by combining the optimized decision map with the source image. The comparative experiments show that our proposed model achieves better fusion performance in subjective evaluation, and the quality of the obtained fused images is more robust with richer details. The objective evaluation metrics work better and the image fusion quality is higher.

Milk phospholipids have multiple health benefits, but the deficiency of detailed phospholipid profiles in dairy products brings obstacles to intake calculation and function evaluation of dairy phospholipids. In present study, 306 phospholipid molecular species were identified and quantified among 207 milk, yogurt and cream products using a HILIC-ESI-Q-TOF MS and a HILIC-ESI-QQQ MS. The phospholipid profiles of five mammals' milk show that camel milk contains the most abundant phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylserine and sphingomyelin; cow, yak and goat milk have similar phospholipidomes, while buffalo milk contains abundant phosphatidylinositol. Fewer plasmalogens but more lyso-glycerolphospholipids were found in ultra-high-temperature (UHT) sterilized milk than in pasteurized milk, and higher proportions of lyso-glycerolphospholipid/total phospholipid were observed in both cream and skimmed/semi-skimmed milk than whole milk, indicating that UHT and skimming processes improve glycerolphospholipid degradation and phospholipid nutrition loss. Meanwhile, more diacyl-glycerolphospholipids and less of their degradation products make yogurt a better phospholipid resource than whole milk.

The gene family of thaumatin-like proteins (TLPs) plays a crucial role in the adaptation of organisms to environmental stresses. In recent years, fungal secreted proteins (SP) with inducing disease resistance activity in plants have emerged as important elicitors in the control of fungal diseases. Identifying SPs with inducing disease resistance activity and studying their mechanisms are crucial for controlling sheath blight. In the present study, 10 proteins containing the thaumatin-like domain were identified in strain AG4-JY of Rhizoctonia solani and eight of the 10 proteins had signal peptides. Analysis of the TLP genes of the 10 different anastomosis groups (AGs) showed that the evolutionary relationship of the TLP gene was consistent with that between different AGs of R. solani. Furthermore, it was found that RsTLP3, RsTLP9 and RsTLP10 were regarded as secreted proteins for their signaling peptides exhibited secretory activity. Prokaryotic expression and enzyme activity analysis revealed that the three secreted proteins possess glycoside hydrolase activity, suggesting they belong to the TLP family. Additionally, spraying the crude enzyme solution of the three TLP proteins could enhance maize resistance to sheath blight. Further analysis showed that genes associated with the salicylic acid and ethylene pathways were up-regulated following RsTLP3 application. The results indicated that RsTLP3 had a good application prospect in biological control.

Pyrimethanil is a persistent environmental pollutant that poses a significant threat to human health. In this review, we summarize the fungicidal mechanism of pyrimethanil and its toxicological effects on aquatic organisms and mammals, as well as its impact on growth and development as an endocrine disruptor. Additionally, we investigate the metabolism of pyrimethanil in mammals and its molecular mechanism in the occurrence of Alzheimer's disease. Furthermore, this review outlines the influence of climate change on the toxicity of pyrimethanil, emphasizing the need to consider the impact of mixtures of multiple compounds on human health. Finally, we propose several promising future directions for pyrimethanil research, believing that there is a better understanding of the interaction between pyrimethanil and organisms, as well as the development of techniques to remove pyrimethanil, may be the best approach to eliminating the threat posed by this compound.
