RESUMO

Lithium-sulfur batteries (LSBs) are still limited by some issues such as polysulfides shuttle and lithium dendrites. Recently, the concept "high-entropy" has been considered as the research hotspot and international frontier. Herein, a high entropy MXene (TiVCrMoC3Tx, HE-MXene) doped graphene is designed as the modified coating on commercial separators for LSBs. The HE-MXene affords multiple metal active sites, fast Li+ diffusion rate, and efficient adsorption toward polysulfide intermediates. Furthermore, strong lithophilic property is favorable for uniform Li+ deposition. The combination of in situ characterizations confirms TiVCrMoC3Tx effectively promotes the Li2S nucleation/dissolution kinetics, reduces the Li+ diffusion barrier, and exhibits favorable lithium uniform deposition behavior. This TiVCrMoC3Tx/G@PP provides a high-capacity retention rate after 1000 cycles at 1 C and 2 C, with a capacity decay rate of merely 0.021% and 0.022% per cycle. Surprisingly, the cell operates at a low potential of 48 mV while maintaining at 5 mA cm-2/5 mAh cm-2 for 4000 h. Furthermore, it still maintains a high-capacity retention rate under a high sulfur loading of 4.8/6.4 mg cm-2 and a low E/S ratio of 8.6/7.5 µg mL-1. This work reveals a technical roadmap for simultaneously addressing the cathode and anode challenge, thus achieving potential commercially viable LSBs.

RESUMO

Designing short-wavelength nonlinear-optical (NLO) crystals is of vital importance for laser applications. Here, the combination of alkaline-earth metals, d0 transition metals, and F atom has generated two new and isostructural fluorides, CaBaZr2F12 (CBZF) and CaBaHf2F12 (CBHF), which adopt centrosymmetric space group I4/mmm. Taking CBZF and CBHF as the parents, two new fluorides, K2BaZr2F12 (KBZF) and K2BaHf2F12 (KBHF), with an Imm2 polar structure were obtained via a heterovalent cation substitution strategy. All four compounds feature ZrF8-dodecahedra-built {[Zr2F12]4-}∞ chains and show short ultraviolet cutoff edges (<200 nm). KBZF and KBHF show phase-matchable behavior with moderate second-harmonic-generation responses [0.6 and 0.35 × KH2PO4 (KDP)] under 1064 nm laser radiation. This work enriches fluorides as promising short-wavelength NLO materials.

RESUMO

Designing and synthesizing narrow bandgap acceptors that exhibit high photoluminescence quantum yield (PLQY) and strong crystallinity is a highly effective, yet challenging, approach to reducing non-radiative energy losses (∆Enr) and boosting the performance of organic solar cells (OSCs). We have successfully designed and synthesized an A-D-A type fused-ring electron acceptor, named DM-F, which features a planar molecular backbone adorned with bulky three-dimensional camphane side groups at its central core. These bulky substituents effectively hinder the formation of H-aggregates of the acceptors, promoting the formation of more J-aggregates and notably elevating the PLQY of the acceptor in the film. As anticipated, DM-F showcases pronounced near-infrared absorption coupled with impressive crystallinity. Organic solar cells (OSCs) leveraging DM-F exhibit a high EQEEL value and remarkably low ∆Enr of 0.137 eV-currently the most minimal reported value for OSCs. Moreover, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of binary and ternary OSCs utilizing DM-F has reached 16.16% and 20.09%, respectively, marking a new apex in reported efficiency within the OSCs field. In conclusion, our study reveals that designing narrow bandgap acceptors with high PLQY is an effective way to reduce ∆Enr and improve the PCE of OSCs.

RESUMO

Since the COVID-19, cough sounds have been widely used for screening purposes. Intelligent analysis techniques have proven to be effective in detecting respiratory diseases. In 2021, there were up to 10 million TB-infected patients worldwide, with an annual growth rate of 4.5%. Most of the patients were from economically underdeveloped regions and countries. The PPD test, a common screening method in the community, has a sensitivity of as low as 77%. Although IGRA and Xpert MTB/RIF offer high specificity and sensitivity, their cost makes them less accessible. In this study, we proposed a feature fusion model-based cough sound classification method for primary TB screening in communities. Data were collected from hospitals using smart phones, including 230 cough sounds from 70 patients with TB and 226 cough sounds from 74 healthy subjects. We employed Bi-LSTM and Bi-GRU recurrent neural networks to analyze five traditional feature sets including the Mel frequency cepstrum coefficient (MFCC), zero-crossing rate (ZCR), short-time energy, root mean square, and chroma_cens. The incorporation of features extracted from the speech spectrogram by 2D convolution training into the Bi-LSTM model enhanced the classification results. With traditional futures, the best TB patient detection result was achieved with the Bi-LSTM model, with 93.99% accuracy, 93.93% specificity, and 92.39% sensitivity. When combined with a speech spectrogram, the classification results showed 96.33% accuracy, 94.99% specificity, and 98.13% sensitivity. Our findings underscore that traditional features and deep features have good complementarity when fused using Bi LSTM modelling, which outperforms existing PPD detection methods in terms of both efficiency and accuracy.

RESUMO

Objective: To observe the efficacy of different anti-infective treatment regimens on acute appendicitis in children, a retrospective study was conducted by collecting previous cases. Methods: Ninety children with acute appendicitis who received laparoscopic appendectomy from May 2020 to September 2022 were included in this retrospective study. According to the different anti-infective treatment regimens, they were divided into Piperacillin-Tazobactam group, Piperacillin-Tazobactam+Metronidazole group, and Cefminox+Metronidazole group (n=30). Three groups of children received medication treatment before surgery. The postoperative recovery, treatment effect, bacterial clearance, complication rate, pharmacoeconomic evaluation, and adverse reactions were compared. Results: The effective rates in the three groups were 83.33%, 90.00%, and 90.00%, respectively (P > .05). There were no differences in the bacterial clearance, complication incidence, and incidence of pharmaceutical side effects among the three groups (P > .05). The total hospitalization cost, total drug cost, and antimicrobial drug cost in Cefminox + Metronidazole group were lower than those in Piperacillin-Tazobactam group and Piperacillin-Tazobactam + Metronidazole group, respectively (P < .05). The intensity of antibacterial drug use in Piperacillin-Tazobactam group was the lowest, followed by Piperacillin-Tazobactam + Metronidazole group and Cefminox + Metronidazole group (P < .05). Conclusion: The three anti-infective regimens have the same therapeutic effect on acute appendicitis in children. However, the regimen of Cefminox + Metronidazole is the most economical option and can be used as the preferred treatment for acute appendicitis in children. As the preferred treatment for acute appendicitis in children. The Piperacillin-Tazobactam group has the lowest intensity of antibiotic use and can reduce bacterial resistance.

RESUMO

In this study, two novel donor-acceptor (D-A) copolymers are designed and synthesized, DTBT-2T and DTBT-2T2F with 2,2'-bithiophene or 3,3'-difluoro-2,2'-bithiophene as the donor unit and dithienobenzothiadiazole as the acceptor unit, and used them as donor materials in non-fullerene organic solar cells (OSCs). Due to enhanced planarity of polymer chains resulted by the intramolecular F···S noncovalent interactions, the incorporation of 3,3'-difluoro-2,2'-bithiophene unit instead of 2,2'-bithiophene into the polymers can enhance their molecular packing, crystallinity and hole mobility. The DTBT-2T:L8-BO based binary OSCs deliver a power conversion efficiency (PCE) of only 9.71% with a Voc of 0.78 V, a Jsc of 20.69 mA cm-2 , and an FF of 59.67%. Moreover, the introduction of fluoro atoms can lower the highest occupied molecular orbital levels. As a result, DTBT-2T2F:L8-BO based single-junction binary OSCs exhibited less recombination loss, more balanced charge mobility, and more favorable morphology, resulting in an impressive PCE of 17.03% with a higher Voc of 0.89 V, a Jsc of 25.40 mA cm-2, and an FF of 75.74%. These results indicate that 3,3'-difluoro-2,2'-bithiophene unit can be used as an effective building block to synthesize high performance polymer donor materials. This work greatly expands the selection range of donor units for constructing high-performance polymers.

RESUMO

Chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyps (CRSsNP) is a CRS phenotype. However, the mechanisms of CRSsNP remains unclear. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were obtained from the GSE36830 and GSE198950 datasets through the GEO2R tool. The six hub genes were screened by the protein-protein interaction (PPI) network analysis and Cytoscape software. Then we constructed the mouse models of CRS and verified the expression levels of hub genes by reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR). Hematoxylin-eosin (HE) staining was employed to observe pathological alterations in mouse tissues. Casepase-3 expression was detected by immunohistochemistry (IHC). The levels of TNF-α, IL-12, IL-6, IL-1ß, LDH, and IL-18 were evaluated using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Pyroptosis-related protein expressions were measured by western blotting. Cell counting kit-8 (CCK-8) and flow cytometry were performed to assess the proliferation and apoptosis of lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced NP69 cells. Six hub DEGs were identified. The expression levels of IRF4, IKZF1, and CD79A were obviously increased in CRSsNP, while those of ADH6, ADH1A, and LDHC were significantly decreased. IRF4 knockdown attenuated the pathologic features of CRSsNP. IRF4 knockdown reduced levels of the TNF-α, IL-12, IL-6 IL-1ß, LDH, and IL-18 as well as the proteins expression of Casepase-1, GSDMD, and NLRP3 both in vivo and in vitro, implying that inflammation and pyroptosis were inhibited. IRF4 knockdown hinders the development of CRSsNP by inhibiting the inflammatory response and NLRP3/Caspase-1/GSDMD-mediated pyroptosis, which offers novel promising treatment strategies for clinical intervention.

RESUMO

Exploring ultraviolet (UV) nonlinear-optical (NLO) materials is significant for the conversion of a high-frequency laser. Two scandium phosphites, Sc(HPO3)(H2PO3)(H2O) and Sc(H2PO3)3, were successfully synthesized. Centric Sc(HPO3)(H2PO3)(H2O) exhibits a short UV cutoff edge (<200 nm) and a unique double-layer structure of [Sc2(HPO3)2(H2PO3)2(H2O)2]∞. The acentric Sc(H2PO3)3 exhibits a three-dimensional [Sc(H2PO3)3]∞ structure with a large band gap of 4.05 eV, and it demonstrates a moderately phase-matchable second-harmonic-generation response [0.60 × KDP (KH2PO4)] at 1064 nm. The crystal structures, optical properties, and theoretical calculations of the two compounds are discussed. This work will promote the exploration of new NLO phosphite materials.

RESUMO

Background: By combining theory-driven and data-driven methods, this study aimed to develop dementia predictive algorithms among Chinese older adults guided by the cognitive footprint theory. Methods: Electronic medical records from the Clinical Data Analysis and Reporting System in Hong Kong were employed. We included patients with dementia diagnosed at 65+ between 2010 and 2018, and 1:1 matched dementia-free controls. We identified 51 features, comprising exposures to established modifiable factors and other factors before and after 65 years old. The performances of four machine learning models, including LASSO, Multilayer perceptron (MLP), XGBoost, and LightGBM, were compared with logistic regression models, for all patients and subgroups by age. Findings: A total of 159,920 individuals (40.5% male; mean age [SD]: 83.97 [7.38]) were included. Compared with the model included established modifiable factors only (area under the curve [AUC] 0.689, 95% CI [0.684, 0.694]), the predictive accuracy substantially improved for models with all factors (0.774, [0.770, 0.778]). Machine learning and logistic regression models performed similarly, with AUC ranged between 0.773 (0.768, 0.777) for LASSO and 0.780 (0.776, 0.784) for MLP. Antipsychotics, education, antidepressants, head injury, and stroke were identified as the most important predictors in the total sample. Age-specific models identified different important features, with cardiovascular and infectious diseases becoming prominent in older ages. Interpretation: The models showed satisfactory performances in identifying dementia. These algorithms can be used in clinical practice to assist decision making and allow timely interventions cost-effectively. RESUMO

X-linked adrenoleukodystrophy (X-ALD) is a rare genetic disorder caused by pathogenic variants in the ABCD1 gene. The symptoms include primary adrenal insufficiency (PAI), progressive spinal cord disease, inflammatory demyelinating cerebral disease, and primary hypogonadism. It is exceptionally rare that pediatric PAI is accompanied by central precocious puberty (CPP). The purpose of this study was to better understand the diversity of clinical manifestations of X-ALD and to identify the ABCD1 gene mutation in a case of a boy with X-ALD accompanied by CPP. We collected clinical, laboratory and imaging data, and used whole-exome sequencing (WES) analysis to evaluate the pathogenicity of the variant. We also predicted the potential deleterious effects of the novel mutation using Mutation Taster and generated three-dimensional protein structures using Swiss-Model and PyMOL Viewer software. The patient presented with PAI accompanied by CPP. Adrenal gland CT revealed adrenal hypoplasia. Gonadotropin-releasing hormone stimulation tests revealed CPP. WES revealed a novel variant (c.1376dup) in the ABCD1 gene, which resulted in a reading frameshift and a premature termination codon (p.Leu461ProfsTer95). Sanger sequencing confirmed that the variant was inherited from his heterozygous mother. Mutation Taster predicted that the variant could be harmful. The overall three-dimensional structures of the mutant wild-type proteins were visually distinct. Our results shed light on additional aspects of X-ALD. The premature activation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis may possibly be related to the pathogenic ABCD1 gene mutation.

RESUMO

Oxychalcogenides are increasingly attracting wide attention because they contain multiple anions that may combine the advantages of oxides and chalcogenides. In this work, two new pentanary oxythiogermanates, Ba3MGe3O2S8 [M = Ca (1), Zn (2)], were synthesized by a high-temperature solid-state reaction. They crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pnma, and their structures contain isolated [Ge3O2S8]8- units constructed by one [GeO2S2] and two [GeOS3] tetrahedra that link with M2+ ions to build the {[MGe3O2S8]6-}∞ chain, representing a new type of oxythiogermanate. Notably, a [ZnS5] square pyramid exists in 2. Their structural chemistry and relationship with relevant structures are analyzed. 1 and 2 exhibit wide band gaps of 3.93 and 2.63 eV, birefringences of 0.100 and 0.089 at 2100 nm, respectively, and also obvious photocurrent responses. This work may be extended to a family of AE3MIIMIV3O2Q8 (AE = alkali-earth metal; MII = Ca, Zn, Cd, Hg; MIV = Si, Ge, Sn; Q = S, Se), and further systematic survey on them can be performed to enrich the study of multifunctional oxychalcogenides.

RESUMO

Purpose: We aimed to explore the effects of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on the ophthalmic artery (OA) hemodynamics in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods: A total of 73 participants (Group0: healthy controls, Group1: Patients with ACS underwent PCI < 3 months, Group2: Patients with ACS underwent PCI ≥ 3 months) were enrolled. Computed tomographic angiography images were used to construct three-dimensional models of participants' OAs. Numerical simulations based on computational fluid dynamics were used to acquire hemodynamic parameters. Results: The angle between the OA and internal carotid artery in Group2 was significantly larger compared with Group0 and Group1 (P = 0.003 and P = 0.044). Hemodynamic simulation showed a significantly slower OA blood velocity in Group1 than in the control (P < 0.001) and Group2 (P = 0.033). Lower wall shear stress was found in Group1 than that in control (P = 0.040). Patients after PCI had a higher wall pressure than healthy controls (P = 0.012 and P = 0.004). Mass flow ratios were decreased in Group1 and Group2 (P = 0.021 and P = 0.002). The hemodynamic parameters of OA were correlated with several clinical indicators. Conclusions: The OA blood flow velocity of patients with ACS after PCI initially slowed down, which increased the risk of plaque formation, and then showed an increasing trend. There was a correlation between OA hemodynamic parameters and clinical indexes related to cardiac stress. Ischemia-reperfusion injury and changes in blood flow status after PCI may affect OA morphology and hemodynamics, leading to ocular lesions. Trial registration: ChiCTR2100050428.

RESUMO

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Polygonatum sibiricum, commonly known as Siberian Solomon's seal, is a traditional herb widely used in various traditional medical systems, especially in East Asia. In ancient China, the use of polygonatum sibiricum in medicine and food was mentioned in Li Shizhen's Bencao Gangmu of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). It was also used in history of India in Vedic medicine. The plant is rich in bioactive substances such as polysaccharides, saponins, flavonoid and alkaloids. AIM OF THE REVIEW: The aim of this review is to understand the pharmacological and pharmacokinetics research progress of the major components of polygonatum sibiricum, and to prospect its potential application and development in the treatment of various diseases. MATERIALS AND METHODS: We conducted a systematic literature search against major online databases on the Web, including PubMed, ancient books, patents, PubMed, Wiley, Google Scholar, Web of Science, and others. We select the pharmacological process and mechanism of the main components of polygonatum sibiricum in a variety of diseases, and make a strict but careful supplement and in-depth elaboration to this review. RESULTS: Several studies have demonstrated the strong antioxidant properties of polygonatum extract, which can be attributed to the presence of flavonoids and other polyphenol compounds; for diabetes and other metabolic-related diseases, polygonatum saponins have particular advantages in regulating intestinal flora and lipoprotein concentration in organisms. In addition, the polysaccharides extracted from this plant have a strong anti-inflammatory effect, which is related to its ability to regulate proinflammatory cytokine and mediators. In the aspect of anti-tumor effect, polygonatum derivatives can induce cancer cell apoptosis mainly by adjusting the cell membrane potential and cell cycle. It is worth noting that the combined action of the main components of polygonatum also offers promising solutions for the treatment of the disease. CONCLUSION: Polygonatum polysaccharide has therapeutic effects on many diseases by adjusting cell signal pathways, polygonatum sibiricum have significant advantages in regulating intestinal flora, inducing apoptosis of tumor cells, activating antioxidant processes, etc. Further research and basic exploration are needed to prove the function and mechanisms of the main components of polygonatum sibiricum on related diseases. The study on the immunomodulatory properties of polygonatum revealed its potentiality of enhancing immune function, which made it an interesting subject for further exploration in the field of immunotherapy.

RESUMO

Obtaining compounds with large nonlinear-optical (NLO) coefficients and wide band gaps is challenging due to their competitive requirements for chemical bonds. Herein, the first member with mixed cations on the A site in the A-M3-Q5 or A-Ag-M6-Q10 (A = alkali metal; M = Ga, In; Q = S, Se, Te) family, viz. Na0.45Ag0.55Ga3Se5 (NAGSe), was obtained by a solid-state reaction. Its structure features [GaSe4] tetrahedra built three-dimensional {[Ga3Se5]-}∞ network, with Na and Na/Ag cations located at the octahedral cavities. Noncentrosymmetric (R32) NAGSe can also be transformed from centrosymmetric RbGa3S5 (P21/c) via multiple-site cosubstitution. NAGSe exhibits the highest NLO response (1.9 × AGS) in the A-Ag-M-Q family. Crystal structure analysis and theoretical calculations suggest that the NLO response is mainly contributed by the regularly arranged [GaSe4] units. This work enriches the exploration of the undeveloped A-M3-Q5 or A-Ag-M6-Q10 family as potential infrared NLO materials.

RESUMO

Allergen-specific immunotherapy (AIT) has confirmed its efficacy in improving the symptoms of allergic rhinitis. However, no reliable biomarkers have been identified to predict the efficacy of AIT were found. We aimed to find clinical and immunological markers to predict efficacy in children after 2 years of sublingual immunotherapy (SLIT). A total of 285 children diagnosed with allergic rhinitis were recruited. The clinical efficacy was evaluated by comparing endpoint and baseline symptom and medication scores (SMS). Baseline clinical and immunological markers (serum total and specific immunoglobulin [Ig]E) and their correlation with clinical efficacy were analyzed. Of the 285 children recruited, 249 completed the 2-year SLIT program. After 2 years of SLIT, 68.3% of the children showed a significant response. Children in the Remarkable Response Group had the highest baseline SMS and most extended disease duration, followed by the Effective Relief and Unresponsive Group. Correlation analysis demonstrated that SMS improvement was positively correlated with baseline SMS (r=0.67) and disease duration (r=0.35). SMS improvement was not correlated with age, body mass index, total or specific IgE levels, or their ratios. Our results show that baseline SMS and disease duration can predict the efficacy of SLIT. Our study can guide the selection of suitable candidates for SLIT.

RESUMO

Zirconium/hafnium fluorides have recently been recognized as potential nonlinear optical (NLO) materials with short ultraviolet (UV) cutoff edges, which is significant in laser science and industry. The synthesis of noncentrosymmetric (NCS) materials based on centrosymmetric (CS) compounds by an isovalent cation substitution-oriented design is an emerging strategy in the NLO territory. Here, two isostructural and novel fluorides, CaBaMF8 (M = Zr (1), Hf (2)), have been synthesized through the combination of alkaline earth metals, zirconium/hafnium, and fluorine elements. They feature zero-dimensional and CS structures composed by an isolated MF8 (M = Zr, Hf) dodecahedron and dissociative Ca2+ and Ba2+ cations, and they display short UV cutoff edges (<200 nm) as well. Two three-dimensional fluorides Li2CaMF8 (M = Zr (3), Hf (4)) are obtained by replacing Ba with alkali metal Li atom, which not only represent phase-matchable second-harmonic-generation activities (0.36, 0.30× KH2PO4 (KDP)) at 1064 nm but also maintain short UV cutoff edges with high reflectance. This work has largely enriched the family of NCS zirconium/hafnium fluorides reaching the short UV region.

RESUMO

Strengthening the activity competitiveness of anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) bacteria (AnAOB) under low nitrogen conditions is indispensable for mainstream anammox application. This study demonstrates that sponge iron addition (42.8 g/L) effectively increased apparent AnAOB activity and extracellular polymeric substance (EPS) production of low load anammox biofilms cultivated under low (influent of 60 mg N/L) and even ultra-low (influent of 10 mg N/L) nitrogen conditions. In-situ batch tests showed that after sponge iron addition the specific AnAOB activity in the low and ultra-low nitrogen systems further increased to 1.18 and 0.47 mmol/g VSS/h, respectively, with an apparent growth rate for AnAOB of 0.011 ± 0.001 d-1 and 0.004 ± 0.001 d-1, respectively. The averaged EPS concentration of anammox biofilm in both low (from 35.84 to 71.05 mg/g VSS) and ultra-low (from 44.14 to 57.59 mg/g VSS) nitrogen systems increased significantly, while a higher EPS protein/polysaccharide ratio, which was positively correlated with AnAOB activity, was observed in the low nitrogen system (3.54 ± 0.34) than that in the ultra-low nitrogen system (1.82 ± 0.10). In addition, Candidatus Brocadia was detected as dominant AnAOB in the anammox biofilm under the low (12.2 %) and ultra-low (24.7 %) nitrogen condition. Notably, the genus Streptomyces (26.3 %), capable for funge-like codenitrification, increased unexpectedly in the low nitrogen system, but not affecting the nitrogen removal performance. Therefore, using sponge iron to strengthen AnAOB activity under low nitrogen conditions is feasible, providing support for mainstream anammox applications.

RESUMO

Designing new compounds based on anion regulation has been widely favored due to the production of diverse crystal structures and excellent optical properties. Here, a new nitrate oxyfluoride, Hg16O12(NO3)6F2(H2O), has been obtained through a hydrothermal reaction. It crystallizes in the centric Ibca space group and shows a novel three-dimensional [(Hg16O12F2(H2O))6+]∞ cationic framework composed of interconnected HgO2F, HgO3, and HgO2(H2O) units, with isolated NO3- groups as balanced anions to build the whole structure. Notably, the HgO2F and HgO2(H2O) units are first presented here among mercury (Hg)-based compounds. Additionally, Hg16O12(NO3)6F2(H2O) exhibits a large birefringence of 0.17 at 546 nm. This work enriches the multiformity of Hg-based compounds and provides a route for developing promising birefringent materials.

RESUMO

To reduce the number of sensors in the SCR catalyst, state feedback and fault diagnosis information are provided. Firstly, a model based on the coupling of flow, heat transfer, and gas-solid phase catalytic reaction in the SCR system is investigated in this paper. The parabolic partial differential equations are simplified by the variable substitution method and the method of lines approach (MOL). The simplified system of equations is solved by backward differentiation formulas (BDF) with adaptive adjustment time step strategy. Meanwhile, the chemical reaction parameters are accurately calibrated per second using the Levenberg-Marquardt method. Secondly, the ATS-UKF is designed in this paper, and to ensure the synchronisation between the ATS-UKF and the SCR model calculations, the time step of solving the BDF by the SCR model is taken as the time step of propagating the sigma points. Two observation scenarios are assumed: (1) no downstream NH3 concentration sensor, ammonia coverage and downstream NH3 concentration are observed by ATS-UKF; (2) no downstream NOx sensor, ammonia coverage and downstream NOx concentration are observed by ATS-UKF. Finally, the paper carries out bench tests. In the first case, the ammonia coverage obtained by the ATS-UKF reached 0.99 with respect to the model-calculated value R². The mean absolute error (MAE) between the observed and experimental values of the ATS-UKF for the downstream NH3 concentration was 2.76 ppm. In the second case, the ammonia coverage obtained by the ATS-UKF reached 0.99 with respect to the model-calculated value R², and the MAE between the observed and experimental values of the ATS-UKF for the downstream NOx concentration was 1.53 ppm. ENVIRONMENTAL IMPLICATION: The Adaptive Time-Step Unscented Kalman Filtering (ATS-UKF) enhances urea Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) in diesel engines, improving environmental outcomes. This method minimizes sensor dependence, enabling more precise SCR system management and effective emission reduction. By advancing emission control technologies, ATS-UKF contributes to global air pollution mitigation efforts, supporting cleaner air and environmental sustainability. Its innovative approach in monitoring and predicting SCR performance marks a significant step towards eco-friendly diesel engine operation.

RESUMO

As one of the potential candidates of nonlinear-optical (NLO) materials, rare-earth chalcophosphates have demonstrated promising properties. Here, KREP2S6 (RE = Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy) were synthesized using the facile RE2O3-B-S solid-state method. They crystallize with a monoclinic chiral P21 structure, and their layer structures are built by isolated ethane-like P2S6 dimers and RES8 bicapped trigonal prisms built {[RE2S15]24-}∞ layers. By comparing the structures with related ones, the change of the alkali metal or RE3+ ions can cause structural transformation. Their band gaps are tunable between 2.58 and 3.79 eV, and their powder samples exhibit good NLO properties. Theoretical calculations suggest that the NLO properties are mainly contributed by P2S6 units and {[RE2S15]24-}∞ layers synergistically, in which {[RE2S15]24-}∞ layers and P2S6 units dominate the contribution to the band gap and second-harmonic-generation response, respectively. This work enriches the application of rare-earth chalcophosphates as NLO materials.
