RESUMO

Aim: This study aimed to explore the utilization of rehabilitation services and associated socioeconomic position (SEP) factors among Chinese older adults disabled by injury. Methods: Data from the second China National Sample Survey on Disability (CSSD) were used in this study. Chi-square test was used to analyze the significant differences between groups, and binary logistic regression model was used to calculate the odds ratios and 95% confidence intervals for socioeconomic factors associated with utilization of rehabilitation services among Chinese older adults disabled by injury. Results: Among the older adults disabled by injury in the CSSD, the gap between demand and utilization of medical treatment, assistive devices and rehabilitation training were around 38, 75, and 64%, respectively. This study revealed two relationship patterns ("high-low-high" and "low-high-low") among SEP, prevalence of injury-caused disability and odds of utilization of rehabilitation services among the Chinese older adults disabled by injury, that is, the older adult with higher SEP have a lower prevalence of injury-caused disability, but a higher odds of utilization of rehabilitation services; conversely, the older adults with lower SEP have a relatively higher prevalence but a lower odds of utilization of rehabilitation services. Conclusion: There is a large gap between the high demand and low utilization of rehabilitation services among the Chinese older adults disabled by injury, especially for those living in the central or western regions or rural areas, without insurance or disability certificate, having the annual household per capita income lower than the national average or lower educational level. Strategies to improve the disability manage system, to strengthen the chain of "information discovery-information transmission-rehabilitation services supply-continuous health monitoring and management" for the older adults disabled by injury are warranted. In view of the poor and illiterate groups among the disabled older adults, to enhance medical aids and popularize the scientific information to compensate for the lack of affordability and awareness of rehabilitation services utilization is essential. In addition, it is necessary to further expand the coverage and improve the payment system of medical insurance for rehabilitation services.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To design demand-oriented intelligent analysis platform framework for the disabled population data from overall management to security. METHODS: DATAI-WebEx, active learning, Browser/Server architecture, role-role-based access control, Bayesian network, GIS analysis technology, cluster analysis, regression analysis and other intelligent technologies were used in this study, which provided the functions of multi-source heterogeneous disabled population data fusion, intelligent analysis, secure access and data sharing. RESULTS: The disability data warehouse and intelligent analysis platform can realize the structured and unstructured information disabled population data alignment and data fusion. Also, it can provide disability risk module clustering, disability risk factor identification, disabled distribution analysis, disability scale dynamic trajectory prediction, early warning, disability grade development. Moreover, it can provide a guarantee for the safe and convenient access of sensitive data with the support of "classified boxes", and realize the safe sharing of data of the disabled population. CONCLUSION: The disability data warehouse and intelligent analysis platform can provide the services of "comprehensive fusion-intelligent mining-safe sharing".

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Preclinical research is essential to the advancement of science but susceptible to insufficient reporting and methodological shortcomings, which compromise internal validity. We aimed to systematically assess the methodological and reporting quality of studies conducted on acupuncture for experimental cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury (CIRI). METHODS: A comprehensive search in six databases was performed for animal research concerning acupuncture for CIRI. Two authors independently selected articles, extracted data, and assessed the methodological and reporting quality of identified articles using the Systematic Review Center for Laboratory Animal Experimentation (SYRCLE) tool, and Animal Research: Reporting In Vivo Experiments (ARRIVE) guideline, respectively. RESULTS: A total of 24 studies were identified. Only 1 article (4%) achieved a decent overall rating in using SYRCLE (percentage of items with "low risk" ⩾50%). Of the 22 items on the SYRCLE tool, only 8 items (37%) were rated as "low risk" of bias in more than 50% of the included studies. Of the 39 items of ARRIVE, 20 (51%) items were rated as "low risk" in more than 50% of the included studies. CONCLUSIONS: The methodological and reporting quality of included studies was generally low, which demands further improvement. These findings should inform the development of evidence-based guidelines for future preclinical research assessing the effect of acupuncture on CIRI.

RESUMO

Cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (CIR) injury occurs when blood flow is restored in the brain, causing secondary damage to the ischemic tissues. Previous studies have shown that electroacupuncture (EA) treatment contributes to brain protection against CIR injury through modulating autophagy. Studies indicated that SIRT1-FOXO1 plays a crucial role in regulating autophagy. Here we investigated the mechanisms underlying the neuroprotective effect of EA and its role in modulating autophagy via the SIRT1-FOXO1 signaling pathway in rats with CIR injury. EA pretreatment at "Baihui", "Quchi" and "Zusanli" acupoints (2/15Hz, 1mA, 30 min/day) was performed for 5 days before the rats were subjected to middle cerebral artery occlusion, and the results indicated that EA pretreatment substantially reduced the Longa score and infarct volume, increased the dendritic spine density and lessened autophagosomes in the peri-ischemic cortex of rats. Additionally, EA pretreatment also reduced the ratio of LC3-II/LC3-I, the levels of Ac-FOXO1 and Atg7, and the interaction of Ac-FOXO1 and Atg7, but increased the levels of p62, SIRT1, and FOXO1. The above effects were abrogated by the SIRT1 inhibitor EX527. Thus, we presume that EA pretreatment elicits a neuroprotective effect against CIR injury, potentially by suppressing autophagy via activating the SIRT1-FOXO1 signaling pathway.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: To evaluate the methodological and reporting quality of systematic reviews (SRs) on acupuncture treatment for women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). METHODS: A comprehensive search on multiple databases was performed. Methodological and reporting quality of reviews were assessed by revised assessment of multiple systematic reviews (AMSTAR 2) and preferred reporting items for SRs and meta-analyses (PRISMA), respectively. RESULTS: Ten SRs were included. Among the SRs using AMSTAR 2, two achieved a good overall rating (percentage of items with "yes" > 50%) and severe limitation existed in eleven items (percentage of items with "yes" < 50%). Among the SRs using PRISMA, six reviews achieved a good overall rating (percentage of items with "yes" > 50%), while twelve items were poorly reported (percentage of items with "yes" < 50%). CONCLUSION: There were many deficiencies in the methodological and reporting quality of SRs assessing acupuncture in women with PCOS.
