RESUMO
A case of carcinomatous meningitis clinically suggesting an inflammatory process is described. The patient died unexpectedly of an intercurrent cause and the neuropathological examination allowed to recognize a early stage of carcinomatous infiltration of meninges.

The neurological and electroencephalographic examinations involved a group of 82 workers dealing with the protection of railway carriage assemblies against corrosion. For anamnesis "The Höck and Hess ailments questionnaire" was used to evaluate the neurotic syndrome. The results have been compared in varnishing workers under better and worse toxicological conditions. The evaluation of the varnishing workers' nervous system did not reveal any specific clinical picture. More frequent neurotic ailments and EEG deviations in those working under worse toxicological conditions may be indicative of enhanced neurotoxic effects of organic solvents, used for lacquers dilution, upon the brain disfunction.

A case of tuberculous meningoencephalitis is described in an elderly patient diagnosed clinically and on gross inspection on autopsy as cerebral stroke. The factors making correct diagnosis difficult are discussed stressing the importance of microscopic examination in the epidemiology of tuberculous meningoencephalitis in adults.

Six cases of C-cell carcinoma of thyroid gland were studied applying histologic and histochemical methods as well as electron microscopy technique. A histologic feature of the carcinoma pattern was the diversity of pictures. Amyloid was commonly found in the carcinoma stroma. In some cells glycogen was present. Histochemically the carcinoma cells were marked by a strong activity of oxidative enzymes (GDH, SDH, LDH and MAO) as well as hydrolitic one (G-6-P and non specific enterases). Serotonin was found in two cases. An ultrastructural feature of carcinoma cells was the presence of cytoplasmic electron-dense, specific "endocrine type" secretory granules.
