RESUMO

The examinations of rats hippocampus were made after ischaemia (the rats vertebral and common carotid arteries were closed for 20 minutes). Serial sections of the brains were stained with hematoxylin and eosin. 24 hours after completing the experiment a small number of cells in the field CA1 was damaged. They were dark and shrunken. 120 hours after the experiment strong damages affected large groups of pyramidal cells, especially in field CA1. The changes were asymmetrical and regarded one hemisphere of the brain only.

RESUMO

Histochemical studies were conducted on kidney sections of white rats, which were given Rocephin, Furosemide and Rocephin with Furosemide for 7 days. The results show changes in the activity of cellular enzymes like acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase and in polysaccharides. Some of kidney's bodies were destroyed after the treatment with Rocephin jointly with Furosemide.

RESUMO

Examinations of the influence of 6-OH-DA (6-hydroxydopamine) upon the structure of nerve cells and their axons have been conducted by many authors and in various aspects (1, 2, 8, 10). They have concerned histochemistry, fluorescence and ultrastructure of neurons and have shown that the substance evokes various changes in the perikaryons and axons of adrenergic neurons. The wall of the small intestine is innervated by external autonomyous nerves and fibres of the intramural autonomyous plexuses. External autonomyous fibres make numerous anastomoses with the neurons of the two intramural plexuses and ganglia: the myenteric one (Auerbach's) and the submucosal one (Meissner's) (6). Both ganglia run along the length of the intestine and their neurons apart from making anastomoses, send axons to the nonstrained muscles cells and glandular cells in the mucosa. As a consequence, the active phase is easily carried over along the alimentary system stimulating action of nonstrained muscles and glandular cells. 6-OH-DA exerts strong action upon the nerve cells and ends, that is why we have decided to examine the changes taking place in the ileum when the substance starts to operate.

RESUMO

Drugs are the largest group of substances inactivated by the liver. They may have a stimulatory or inhibitory effect on the system of hepatic enzymes. Metizol is a thyrostatic belonging to the group of trimidazole derivatives. Its mechanism of action consists in inhibition of triiodothyronine++ and thyroxin secretion by the thyroid, owing to inactivation of the enzymes causing iodination of the thyrosine groups of thyroglobulin. This relatively little toxic drug when used for a prolonged period may lead to hyperaemia of the thyroid, and in pregnant women (by passing through the placenta) its side effects may threaten the foetus. The future mother affected with hyperthyroidism should receive full Metizol doses to avoid the danger of a thyroid crisis. A radical improvement of her health should be reached before childbirth.

RESUMO

The experiments were carried out on the rats of Wistar race. One group administered vibramycin before expiration date for 10 days. Another group was given outdated vibramycin for the same period of time. The small intestine was examined histologically (hematoxylin and eosin) and histochemically (acid phosphatase, alkaline phosphatase, mucopolysaccharides, RNA). Division figures in small intestine epithelium were also counted. It was found out that the activity of acid phosphatase and RNA was increasing in animals obtaining vibramycin before expiration date. Mucopolysaccharides and alkaline phosphatase reacted weaker than in the control intestine. The intestinal mucosa showed considerable destruction. In both cases the number of division figures in the cells of small intestine epithelium decreased, particularly after administration of expired vibramycin.
