RESUMO

For decades, aesthetic medical procedures have sought to improve patient appearance, comfort, and self-confidence. In more recent years, a growing interest in body contouring cosmetic procedures has emerged, in large part due to increased transparency in procedures and improved outcomes with minimally invasive procedures. Notably, several biostimulatory fillers have emerged as a suitable treatment modality due to their relatively low cost, low pain, short downtime, high tunability, and sustained biostimulatory effect. One volumizing biostimulatory filler, Radiesse® (Merz Aesthetics, Frankfurt, Germany), consists of calcium hydroxylapatite microspheres suspended in a carboxymethyl cellulose gel. When injected, Radiesse immediately volumizes the injection site and initiates neocollagenesis and neoelastogenesis. One technique, the Bella Vida Instant Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL)™, is a fast, safe, and minimally invasive alternative to surgical gluteal augmentation that accomplishes morphological remodeling, increases volumization, and improves shape and patient satisfaction. This technical report provides the clinical basis, materials, and methods for implementing the Bella Vida Instant BBL™ in aesthetic practices.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Citric acid is commonly used as a flavoring and preservative in food and beverages. The effect of adding citric acid directly or encapsulated (each at 1 and 2 g kg-1 ) on the quality and shelf-life of ready-to-eat sea bass patties was evaluated during storage at 4 °C in vacuum skin packaging. RESULTS: Microbial growth and total basic volatile nitrogen were maintained at relatively low levels up to 8 weeks of storage. With respect to oxidative stability, the addition of encapsulated citric acid minimized secondary oxidation values more efficiently than its direct addition, regardless of the concentration. This is in agreement with the decreased fishy odor observed in those patties containing encapsulated citric acid. Accordingly, sensory analysis showed that the addition of encapsulated citric acid at 1 g kg-1 resulted in lower scores in fish aroma compared to that of the control. Sourness is dependent on the amount of citric acid added, regardless of the form (direct or encapsulated). CONCLUSIONS: The form of citric acid addition, rather than the amount of citric acid added, caused changes in texture. Therefore, the use of encapsulated citric acid represents a suitable strategy that is of great interest in the seafood industry. © 2017 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Currently, factors that promote the occurrence of pancreatitis episodes in patients affected with cystic fibrosis (CF) and pancreatic sufficiency (PS) are largely unknown. METHODS: Six genes involved in pancreatitis or in ion transport into the pancreatic duct were investigated by next generation sequencing in 59 adult CF-PS patients with two identified CF mutations. Data on predisposing environmental factors were also recorded. RESULTS: 19 experienced at least one episode of acute pancreatitis (AP) (AP+) and 40 patients did not (AP-). No influence of environmental factor was evidenced. No specific CFTR genotype was found predictive of pancreatitis. Patients sharing the same CFTR genotype may or may not experience AP episodes. Frequent and rare missense variants were found in 78.9% patients in group AP+ and 67.5% in group AP- but a few of them were pathogenic. CONCLUSIONS: AP or recurrent AP (RAP) is a frequent complication in our series of adult CF-PS patients. The majority of mild CFTR mutations found in group AP+ were located in the first transmembrane region. No clear other genetic factor could be found predictive of AP/RAP. Further experiments in large homogenous cohorts of CF-PS patients, including whole genome sequencing, may identify genetic predisposing factors to pancreatitis.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Pseudomonas aeruginosa (Pa) infection in cystic fibrosis (CF) patients is associated with worse long-term pulmonary disease and shorter survival, and chronic Pa infection (CPA) is associated with reduced lung function, faster rate of lung decline, increased rates of exacerbations and shorter survival. By using exome sequencing and extreme phenotype design, it was recently shown that isoforms of dynactin 4 (DCTN4) may influence Pa infection in CF, leading to worse respiratory disease. The purpose of this study was to investigate the role of DCTN4 missense variants on Pa infection incidence, age at first Pa infection and chronic Pa infection incidence in a cohort of adult CF patients from a single centre. METHODS: Polymerase chain reaction and direct sequencing were used to screen DNA samples for DCTN4 variants. RESULTS: A total of 121 adult CF patients from the Cochin Hospital CF centre have been included, all of them carrying two CFTR defects: 103 developed at least 1 pulmonary infection with Pa, and 68 patients of them had CPA. DCTN4 variants were identified in 24% (29/121) CF patients with Pa infection and in only 17% (3/18) CF patients with no Pa infection. Of the patients with CPA, 29% (20/68) had DCTN4 missense variants vs 23% (8/35) in patients without CPA. Interestingly, p.Tyr263Cys tend to be more frequently observed in CF patients with CPA than in patients without CPA (4/68 vs 0/35), and DCTN4 missense variants tend to be more frequent in male CF patients with CPA bearing two class II mutations than in male CF patients without CPA bearing two class II mutations (P = 0.06). CONCLUSIONS: Our observations reinforce that DCTN4 missense variants, especially p.Tyr263Cys, may be involved in the pathogenesis of CPA in male CF.

RESUMO

c.224G>A, p.Arg75Gln (R75Q) presumably leads to an amino-acid change from arginine to glutamine in the membrane-spanning domain of the CFTR protein. Initially reported as a benign sequence variation, p.Arg75Gln was shown to be associated with a high risk of pancreatitis, a risk that was strikingly higher when p.Arg75Gln was combined with a SPINK1 variant. In addition, it was shown that p.Arg75Gln alters bicarbonate but not chloride conductance and that the mutation also induces exon 3 skipping. To investigate the role of p.Arg75Gln in idiopathic chronic pancreatitis (ICP), we performed genotyping of the CFTR gene in 880 patients with ICP, 198 patients with idiopathic bronchiectasis (IB), 74 patients with classical cystic fibrosis (CF), 48 patients with congenital bilateral absence of the vas deferens (CBAVD) and 148 healthy controls. p.Arg75Gln variant was identified in 3.3% (29/880) of patients with ICP, 3.3% (9/272) patients with a pulmonary disease, 2.1% (1/48) of patients with CBAVD and 4.7% (7/148) of healthy controls. It was frequently associated with the c.[1210-12T[7];1408A>G] (T7-p.Val470) allele and this CFTR genetic background could not explain the putative pathogenicity of this variant. To assess whether CFTR and SPINK1 mutations are co-inherited in pancreatitis, we sequenced SPINK1 gene exon 3 in the 46 patients who were previously identified to be heterozygous for p.Arg75Gln. Two SPINK1 pancreatitis-associated variants, p.Asn34Ser and p.Pro55Ser, were found in 6 patients: 4 of 29 (13.8%) patients with ICP (3 p.Asn34Ser and 1 p.Pro55Ser), 1 of 7 (14.3%) healthy controls (p.Asn34Ser) and 1 of 9 (11.1%) patients with IB (p.Pro55Ser). Our study does not confirm that the CFTR p.Arg75Gln mutation confers a significant risk of pancreatitis both when considered individually and with a concurrent SPINK1 mutation, suggesting the role of other genetic and environmental factors.

RESUMO

The notion of care is the main thread of the nurses' initial training. What are the theoretical references on which these teachings on care and caring are based in order to guide the learning and its implementation during the interview with the patient? Each professional exercises his profession with a personal vision, but the history of the profession reflects the evolution of the society to which it belongs. Thus the care theories shed a new light on the framework of thinking related to caring and care today. For the implementation of the training engineering related to the new curriculum, the trainers at ISFI (Institution for the nursing care training) of Pontoise wanted to question the concepts and theories on which the teaching of clinical reasoning can be based and thus work on the links existing between their own experiences of caring and their missions of accompaniment and transmission based on the respect of the potentialities presented by the students.
