The study aimed to assess the effects of water salinity on the sperm parameters, levels of cortisol, LH, FSH, testosterone and antioxidants as well as the testes' histopathology in Barki rams. Fifteen healthy Barki rams (1-1.5 years) were divided into three equal depending on the type of drinking water for nine months. The rams in the tap water group (TW, water that contained 350 ppm of total dissolved salts (TDS). Males in the high saline water group (HSW) were permitted to consume high saline water with 8,934 ppm TDS, whereas those in the second group were permitted to have moderately saline water (MSW, 4,557 ppm TDS). High salt concentration in drinking water had adverse effect on sperm viability, morphology and sperm cell concertation. Nitric oxide and malondialdehyde concentrations in blood were significantly higher in the MSW and HSW groups than in TW. There was a significant decrease in glutathione concentration as well as superoxide dismutase activity in TDS and HSW. Cortisol was most highly concentrated in the HSW, next in the MSW, and least in TW. The testosterone, LH, and FSH concentrations in the HSW and MSW groups were significantly lower than in TW. As the salt concentration in drinking water increases, damage to testicular tissue. The MSW group demonstrating vacuolation of lining epithelial cells with pyknotic nuclei in the epididymis and necrosis and desquamation of spermatogenic cells in seminiferous tubules while HSW group displaying desquamated necrotic cells and giant cell formation in the epididymis, as well as damage to some of the seminiferous tubules and showed congestion, vacuolation of spermatogenic epithelium of seminiferous tubules, and desquamated necrotic spermatogenic epithelium. In conclusion, the salinity of the water has detrimental impacts on the sperm morphology, viability and concentration, hormones and antioxidant levels in Barki rams.

Background: Several genetic and metabolic variables, most notably the variation in the adipokine gene rs1501298, have been linked to metabolic-associated fatty liver disease etiopathogenesis (MAFLD). Liver biopsy, the gold standard for diagnosing MAFLD, is an invasive procedure; therefore, alternative diagnostic methods are required. Consequently, the integration of these metabolic variables with some of the patients' characteristics may facilitate the development of noninvasive diagnostic methods that aid in the early detection of MAFLD, identification of at-risk individuals and planning of management strategies. Methods: This study included 224 Egyptians (107 healthy individuals and 117 MAFLD patients). Age, sex, BMI, clinical and laboratory characteristics, and rs1501299 adipokine gene polymorphisms were examined. The rs1501299 variant, insulin resistance, hypertension, obesity, blood pressure, lipid profile, hemoglobin A1C level, and hepatic fibrosis predictors were evaluated for MAFLD risk. The feasibility and effectiveness of developing non-invasive MAFLD diagnostic models will be investigated. Results: The +276G/T (rs1501299) polymorphism (GG vs GT/TT) was linked with MAFLD (OR: 0.43, CI: 0.26-0.69, P = 0.002). The GG variants had lower MAFLD rates than those of the GT and TT variants. In addition to altered lipid profiles, patients with MAFLD showed increased gamma-glutamyl transferase levels (GGT: 56 IU/L vs. 36 IU/L). Genetic diversity also affects the accuracy of hepatic fibrosis and steatosis prediction. Hepatic fibrosis and steatosis predictors had receiver operating characteristic (ROC) AUCs of 0.529%, 0.846%, and 0.700-0.825%, respectively. We examined a diagnostic model based on these variables and demonstrated its effectiveness. Conclusion: The Adipokine variant rs1501299 increased the risk of MAFLD. Identifying and genotyping this variation and other metabolic variables allow for a noninvasive diagnostic model for early MAFLD diagnosis and identification of those at risk. This study illuminates the prevention and management of MAFLD. Further research with more participants is needed to verify these models and to prove their MAFLD diagnostic efficacy.

Dye-contaminated wastewater is a major environmental problem that requires effective and affordable treatment methods. This study investigates an innovative approach using black sand filtration assisted by UV light to remove methylene blue (MB) dye from wastewater. The motivation is to develop a sustainable low-cost wastewater treatment technology. Black sand's composition of iron oxide and other metal oxides enables the adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of dyes. The effects of operating parameters, including pH, bed height, flow rate, and initial MB concentration, were examined using a fixed-bed column system. The maximum adsorption capacity was 562.43 mg g-1 at optimal pH 10, 15 cm bed height, 50 ppm MB, and 53.33 mL min-1 flow rate. Mathematical models effectively described the experimental breakthrough curves. For real textile wastewater, black sand with a UV lamp removed 50.40% COD, 73.68% TDS, 43.82% TSS, and 98.57% conductivity, significantly outperforming filtration without UV assistance. Characterization via XRD, XRF, FTIR, zeta potential, and SEM revealed black sand's photocatalytic properties and mechanism of MB adsorption. The findings demonstrate black sand filtration plus UV irradiation as a feasible, sustainable technology for removing dyes and organics from wastewater. This method has promise for the scale-up treatment of textiles and other industrial effluents.

Menopause represents the physiological transition when a woman's reproductive period ends associated with a variety of symptoms, including vasomotor symptoms, such as night sweats and hot flashes. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the effectiveness and safety of oral Fezolinetant for treating vasomotor symptoms associated with menopause. Five electronic databases were searched from their inception until May 2023. Via the Cochrane risk of bias tool, two reviewers assessed the studies' quality. The primary outcomes were a decrease in VMSs frequency and severity and safety outcomes at 4 and 12 weeks. Data were extracted and then analyzed using RevMan software. This meta-analysis included six trials with a total of 3291 women that compared Fezolinetant to a placebo in the treatment of menopausal VMSs. After 4 and 12 weeks of therapy, fezolinetant at 30 mg QD or 45 mg QD substantially decreased the frequency and severity of VMSs per 24 hours compared to placebo. Fezolinetant at 90 mg BID, 30 mg QD, or 45 mg QD did not show a significant difference in the rate of treatment-emergent adverse events (TEAEs), headache, and TEAEs leading to permanent discontinuation compared to placebo. Fezolinetant proves to be a successful and well-tolerated remedy for menopausal women suffering from VMSs. Notably, the 45 mg daily dosage over 12 weeks exhibited significant efficacy. Nonetheless, extensive future trials are necessary to ascertain its long-term safety, effectiveness, and relative potency compared to alternative VMS treatments like hormone therapy.


La ménopause représente la transition physiologique lorsque la période de reproduction d'une femme se termine, associée à divers symptômes, notamment des symptômes vasomoteurs, tels que des sueurs nocturnes et des bouffées de chaleur. Cette revue systématique et méta-analyse visaient à évaluer l'efficacité et l'innocuité du Fezolinetant oral pour traiter les symptômes vasomoteurs associés à la ménopause. Cinq bases de données électroniques ont été consultées depuis leur création jusqu'en mai 2023. Via l'outil Cochrane sur le risque de biais, deux examinateurs ont évalué la qualité des études. Les principaux critères de jugement étaient une diminution de la fréquence et de la gravité des SVM ainsi que des critères de sécurité à 4 et 12 semaines. Les données ont été extraites puis analysées à l'aide du logiciel RevMan. Cette méta-analyse comprenait six essais portant sur un total de 3 291 femmes comparant Fezolinetant à un placebo dans le traitement des SVM ménopausiques. Après 4 et 12 semaines de traitement, le fézolinetant à la dose de 30 mg une fois par jour ou de 45 mg une fois par jour a considérablement réduit la fréquence et la gravité des SMV toutes les 24 heures par rapport au placebo. Le fézolinetant à la dose de 90 mg deux fois par jour, de 30 mg une fois par jour ou de 45 mg une fois par jour n'a pas montré de différence significative dans le taux d'événements indésirables survenus pendant le traitement (TEAE), de maux de tête et de TEAE conduisant à un arrêt définitif par rapport au placebo. Le fézolinetant s'avère être un remède efficace et bien toléré pour les femmes ménopausées souffrant de VMS. Notamment, la dose quotidienne de 45 mg sur 12 semaines a montré une efficacité significative. Néanmoins, de futurs essais approfondis sont nécessaires pour vérifier son innocuité, son efficacité et sa puissance relative à long terme par rapport aux traitements alternatifs du VMS comme l'hormonothérapie.

Okra pods (Abelmoschus esculentus L. Moench) have been used as a functional vegetable as they contain polysaccharides, flavonoids, and other bioactive molecules that protect the body from several chronic diseases. The purpose of this study was to look at the involvement of okra constituents (mucilage and flesh) in the prevention of metabolic dysfunctions induced in a rat model by a high-fat, high-salt (HF/NaCl) diet. Okra mucilage was extracted using an ultrasonic method, freeze-dried, characterized using Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and tested for swelling ratio and radical scavenging activity. Okra flesh (skin and seeds) was separated from pods; characterized using SEM; and tested for dietary fiber content, phenolic profile, and radical scavenging activity. The significance of okra bioactive compounds in inhibiting human salivary amylase, glutamine : fructose-6-phosphate amidotransferase (GFAT), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and C-reactive protein (CRP) was investigated using molecular docking. Rats were fed an HF/NaCl diet and orally treated daily with freeze-dried okra mucilage or flesh (100 mg per kg body weight) for 8 weeks. Glucose, insulin, inflammatory indicators (CRP, TNF-α, and interleukin 6), oxidative markers (red blood cell lipid peroxidation, glutathione peroxidase, nitric oxide, and superoxide dismutase), lipid profile, estradiol, feces lipids as well as femur and urine calcium were measured. The molecular docking findings showed the interaction of quercetin and chlorogenic acid, which are the most abundant phenolic compounds in okra pods, with the studied proteins, which gives an indication of the mechanism of okra's anti-diabetic, anti-oxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. Okra mucilage and flesh significantly reduced glucose, insulin, cholesterol, lipid peroxidation, CRP, TNF-α, IL-6, and urine calcium levels while significantly increasing feces lipid and femur calcium levels. The findings suggested that okra mucilage and flesh seem to be promising candidates for protection against metabolic dysfunction.

Evidence-based practice (EBP) has gained significant importance in clinical practice worldwide, including in nursing. This study aimed to explore the potential impact of applying a web-based training program on nurses' knowledge, skills, and attitudes regarding EBP. A quasi-experimental pretest-posttest research design was utilized with a purposive sample of 64 professional nurses who agreed to participate. The study took place in different hospitals and primary healthcare centers in the Bisha Governorate, Aseer region, Saudi Arabia. A four-week standardized web-based training program was implemented using an online learning approach. Nurses were provided with an online self-rated data collection tool through the Google Forms platform. The findings indicated a highly significant difference in the total knowledge and EBP skills mean scores of the post-intervention (53.08±15.9) and (66.03±8.95), respectively compared to pre-intervention (P<0.05). Additionally, there was marked improvement in the mean scores of the positive attitude of the training sessions post-intervention compared to pre-intervention. The program was also well-received by the nurses in terms of quality and usability. The program has the potential to enhance nurses' knowledge, skills, and attitudes toward EBP. Therefore, healthcare organizations may consider adopting web-based training as a means of continuing professional education to promote EBP competencies among nurses.

Tissue transplantation is the preferred treatment for end organ failure such as heart, lung, kidney, and liver. The immune system recognizes the transplant as non self if the donor and recipient are not genetically identical. Multiple cytokines are involved in this process; however, little is known about their predictive role in rejection. Interleukin 10 (IL-10) which exhibits anti-inflammatory activity could be used as early predictor of acute rejection. The current study intended to determine any potential relationship between acute allograft rejection and blood IL-10 levels in liver transplant (LT) recipients. This study included 45 patients with cirrhotic liver diseases planned for transplantation. Patients were followed up for 2 months and then divided into two groups: patients who developed early acute rejection and those who did not develop rejection (as controls). Of the study patients, 38 (84.4%) patients did not develop rejection and 7 (15.6%) patients developed rejection. The levels of IL-10 did not change during rejection of the LT. In conclusion, the findings of the current study indicated no relation of IL-10 levels during LT rejection.

This study investigated the effect of flavoured nanophytosomes loaded with vitamins A, E, D, B complex, folic acid, and C, as well as zinc on the immunosuppressive cyclosporin A (CsA)-induced liver and kidney injury in male rats. The vitamins flavoured nanophytosomes (VFnPs) were characterized in terms of particle size, zeta potential, encapsulation efficiency. Ice cream was flavoured with star anise volatile oil to mask the VFnPs' flavour and unacceptable taste. The study found that treatment with CsA alone resulted in increased (P > 0.05) levels of creatinine, urea, and MDA, as well as the activities of AST and ALT, while the levels of SOD, CAT, GST, proteins, CD4, INF-ᵧ, IL-6, IL-1ß, and TLR4 decreased (P > 0.05). However, the group that received CsA simultaneously with VFnPs showed a significant (P > 0.05) decrease in the levels of creatinine, urea, and MDA, as well as the activities of AST and ALT, and increased (P > 0.05) levels of SOD, CAT, GST, proteins, CD4, INF-ᵧ, IL-6, IL-1ß, and TLR4. The increase in the ratio of VFnPs had little effect on the physiochemical and sensory evaluation of the ice cream. Finally, the study suggests that VFnPs could potentially protect against CsA-induced liver and kidney injury and serve as a promising natural therapy for treating such conditions.

AIM: To explore nurses' experiences and perspectives about evidence-based practice (EBP) implementation in the healthcare context. DESIGN: A qualitative descriptive study design using focus group discussions (FGDs). METHOD: Sixty-four nurses who purposefully selected and worked at various healthcare organizations in Bisha Governorate, Saudi Arabia, were included. Eight FGDs were used to obtain data using open-ended questions. The collected data underwent inductive qualitative content analysis. RESULTS: Two main categories were extracted: experiences and perspectives towards EBP. The experiences category emerged into four sub-categories: familiarity with concepts and benefits, steps, dissemination sources of EBP and sources of EBP knowledge, while perspectives towards the EBP category included four sub-categories: application of EBP in clinical practice, barriers, facilitators and EBP application methods. The participants experienced being in a non-supportive and non-encouraging atmosphere which results from a lack of organizational commitment to EBP implementation and illuminates the complexities involved in the integration process. CONCLUSION: The nurses' experience with EBP indicated that there was limited support for the implementation of this approach. Furthermore, they experienced varying barriers to EBP implementation. They viewed EBP as a complex technique as they lacked knowledge and skills related to the formulation of research questions, and retrieving, applying and disseminating of EBP in clinical practice decision-making. That is due to barriers pertinent to the individual, organizational and patient factors. The key to successfully implementing an EBP in nursing practice is to promote professional development, comprehensive and continuous training, a culture of change, organizational support and motivation. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Through the construction and provision of ongoing educational interventions and mentoring programmes about EBP, healthcare organizations and nursing leadership may develop a comprehensive strategy to encourage staff nurses' participation in the EBP process. This is to enhance nurses' experiences and perspectives towards the EBP approach and overcome the barriers to effective implementation. NO PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION TO THIS STUDY: Patients or the general public were not involved in the design, analysis or interpretation of the data in this study.

Tomato pomace (TP), an antioxidant-rich byproduct, may be suitable for noble applications. The regulation of ROS generation and the anti-inflammatory response can help to prevent ulceration. The purpose of this study was to examine TP for antioxidants, in silico anti-inflammatory properties, and its potential to protect against ulceration and erosion triggered by indomethacin. Tomato pomace extract (TPE) was encapsulated either alone or with probiotics to maximize its potential effect. These microcapsules were investigated in indomethacin-treated rats. TPE demonstrated antioxidant activity as well as high levels of carotenoids (15 mg/g extract) and polyphenols. Because of their binding affinity as well as hydrophobic and hydrogen bond interactions with the active sites of TNF-α and IL-1ß inflammatory cytokines, ellagic acid and rutin may be implicated in the anti-inflammatory effect of TPE, according to the docking study. TPE microcapsules, either alone or in combination with probiotics, demonstrated a protective effect against enterocolitis by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation, as evidenced by the decrease in stomach and intestinal MDA, NO, IL-1ß, IL-6, and TNF-α levels and the increase in CAT, SOD, and GSH activities. The produced microcapsules are suggested to be promising candidates for protection against gastric ulcers and erosion.

This study used probiotics and micro-encapsulated clove and cinnamon oils to develop a functional cream-stuffed cake based on sweet potatoes flour and rice flour instead of wheat flour. The cake was evaluated for its physical, chemical, and sensory properties and its antioxidant capacity. The protective effect of the cake against liver injury and immunosuppression induced by thioacetamide injection in male rats was also evaluated. The study found that eugenol and cinnamaldehyde were the majority of volatile compounds in the essential oils used in the cake, with values of 78.73 % and 81.57 %, respectively, as determined by GC-MS analysis. The viable counts of added probiotics in the cake ranged from 13.15 to 11.21 log CFU/g and were still above the threshold for health benefits. The cake had an increased dietary fiber and protein content while containing a low-fat percentage compared to a commercial cake sample. The innovative cake also contained higher levels of water-soluble and fat-soluble vitamins and minerals such as iron, calcium, potassium, and zinc. The antioxidant capacity of the cake was evaluated, and it was found to contain 1827.23 mg GAE/100 g of total phenols and 97.13 mg QE/100 g of flavonoids. The cake was also found to have antioxidant activity and was effective in protecting the liver from oxidative stress and inflammation and reducing immunodeficiency associated with liver damage.

Trichinellosis is one of the global food-borne parasitic diseases that can cause severe tissue damage. The traditionally used drugs for the treatment of trichinellosis have limited efficacy against the encysted larvae in the muscular phase of the disease. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate the role of atorvastatin and mesenchymal stem cells combined with ivermectin against different phases of Trichinella in experimentally infected mice. A total of 120 male Swiss albino mice were divided into two major groups (n = 60 of each), intestinal and muscular phases. Then, each group was subdivided into 10 subgroups (n = 6); non-infected control, infected non-treated control, infected ivermectin treated, infected atorvastatin treated, infected mesenchymal stem cells treated, infected combined ivermectin and atorvastatin treated, infected combined mesenchymal stem cells and ivermectin treated, infected combined mesenchymal stem cells and atorvastatin treated, infected combined mesenchymal stem cells and a full dose of (ivermectin and atorvastatin) treated, and infected combined mesenchymal stem cells and half dose of (ivermectin and atorvastatin) treated. Mice were sacrificed at days 5 and 35 post-infection for the intestinal and muscular phases, respectively. The assessment was performed through many parameters, including counting the adult intestinal worms and muscular encysted larvae, besides histopathological examination of the underlying tissues. Moreover, a biochemical assay for the inflammatory and oxidative stress marker levels was conducted. In addition, levels of immunohistochemical CD31 and VEGF gene expression as markers of angiogenesis during the muscular phase were investigated. The combined mesenchymal stem cells and atorvastatin added to ivermectin showed the highest significant reduction in adult worms and encysted larvae counts, the most noticeable improvement of the histopathological changes, the most potent anti-inflammatory (lowest level of IL-17) and anti-angiogenic (lowest expression of CD31 and VEGF) activities, and also revealed the highly effective one to relieve the oxidative stress (lowest level of SOD, GSH, and lipid peroxidase enzymes). These observed outcomes indicate that adding mesenchymal stem cells and atorvastatin to ivermectin synergistically potentiates its therapeutic efficacy and provides a promising candidate against trichinellosis.

BACKGROUND: Dexamethasone-induced neurotoxicity has been previously reported. However, the molecular mechanisms are still not completely understood. OBJECTIVES: The current work aimed to investigate the modulatory effects of α- and ß-adrenergic receptors on dexamethasone-induced neurotoxicity in rats focused on changes in ß-arrestin2 and molecular markers of neural injury in cerebral cortex. METHODS: Male Wistar rats were subcutaneously injected with dexamethasone (10 mg/kg/day) for 7 days to induce neural injury in the cerebral cortex. The experiment involved 5 groups: control, dexamethasone, carvedilol, propranolol, and doxazosin. In the last 3 groups, drugs were given 2 hours before dexamethasone injection. At the end of experiment, brain samples were collected for measurement of brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), kinase activity of protein kinase B (Akt), diacylglycerol (DAG), α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), Smad3, ß-amyloid and phospho-tau protein levels in addition to histopathological examination of brain tissue using hematoxylin-eosin, Nissl, and Sirius red stains. Moreover, ß-arrestin2 levels in the cerebral cortex were measured using immunohistochemical examination. RESULTS: Dexamethasone slightly reduced brain weight and significantly decreased BDNF, Akt kinase activity and ß-arrestin2 but markedly induced degeneration of cortical neurons and significantly increased GFAP, DAG, α-SMA, Smad3, ß-amyloid and phospho-tau protein levels compared to controls. Carvedilol, propranolol, and doxazosin reversed all dexamethasone-induced molecular changes and slightly ameliorated the histopathological changes. Carvedilol significantly increased brain weight and ß-arrestin2 levels compared to dexamethasone, propranolol, and doxazosin groups. CONCLUSION: blocking α- and/or ß-adrenergic receptors alleviate dexamethasone-induced neurotoxicity despite their distinct effects on ß-arrestin2 levels in the cerebral cortex.

OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study was to evaluate possible factors that might be accompanied by high level of human monkey pox (HMPX) knowledge and to explain the relationship between HMPX knowledge and Beliefs regarding emerging viral infections. STUDY DESIGN: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted for the implementation of this study. METHODS: Study was conducted at two general hospitals in Mansoura City (Old General Hospital and International Hospital) El Dakahlia Governorate among 620 healthcare workers (HCWs) using a self-managed questionnaire for 1 week (1 to 7 January 2023). The questionnaire has items adapted from the previously published literature to assess HMPX knowledge and Beliefs regarding emerging viral infections. RESULTS: The mean age of the study sample was 27.97 years and most of them were female (86.1%). Physicians and other HCWs (nurses, laboratory technicians, radiographer technicians, and pharmacists) had significantly different levels of knowledge of monkeypox for the majority of the questions. A higher belief was found among two items: viruses are biological weapons manufactured by the superpowers to take global control and the government is misleading the public about the cause of the virus. CONCLUSION: This study discovered lower levels of knowledge of HMPX among HCWs in Egypt. Beliefs about emerging viral infections were widespread, and future research should look into their potential negative impact on health behavior.

The Averrhoa carambola L. tree encompasses a myriad of phytochemicals contributing to its nutritional and health benefits. The current study aims at investigating the A. carambola L. the metabolite profile grown in tropical and temperate regions represented by fruit and stem, for the first time using UPLC/MS-based molecular networking and chemometrics. Asides, assessment of the immunostimulatory effect of ripe fruit and stem, was compared in relation to metabolite fingerprints. Eighty metabolites were identified, 8 of which are first-time to be reported including 3 dihydrochalcone-C-glycosides, 4 flavonoids, and one phenolic. Multivariate data analysis revealed dihydrochalcones as origin-discriminating metabolites between temperate and tropical grown fruits. Further, an in vivo immunomodulatory assay in a cyclosporine A-induced rat model revealed a potential immune-enhancing effect as manifested by down-regulation of inflammatory markers (IL-6, INF-γ, IL-1, TLR4, and ESR) concurrent with the up-regulation of CD4 level and the CD4/CD8 ratio. Moreover, both extracts suppressed elevation of liver and kidney functions in serum as well as reduction in oxidative stress with concurrent increased levels of T-protein, albumin, globulin, and A/G ratio. This study pinpoints differences in secondary metabolite profiles amongst A. carambola L. accessions from different origins and organ type and its immunomodulatory action mechanisms.

Imidacloprid (IMID) is one of the most widely used neonicotinoid insecticides globally and, consequently, a probable widespread environmental contaminant. The potential neurotoxic effects of IMID have been previously reported. This study aimed to investigate the possible beneficial effect of thymol (TML) in relieving IMID-induced harmful effects on the brain of male Sprague-Dawley rats. For this aim, four groups (10 rats/group) were orally administered corn oil, TML (30 mg/kg b.wt), IMID (22.5 mg/kg b.wt), or TML + IMID for 56 days. The brain tissues were biochemically, histopathologically, and immunohistochemically evaluated. The results displayed that TML significantly restored the IMID-induced depletion of the total antioxidant capacity of the brain tissues. At the same time, the IMID-associated increased levels of lipid peroxidation in terms of malondialdehyde content were markedly suppressed in the TML + IMID group. Also, TML oral dosing markedly reduced the release of inflammatory elements, including nitric oxide and myeloperoxidase, resulting from IMID exposure. Furthermore, the IMID-induced decrease in gamma-aminobutyric acid but the increase in acetylcholinesterase was considerably reversed by TML oral dosing. Additionally, TML oral administration significantly counteracted the IMID-induced brainepatic DNA damage, as revealed by the comet assay. Besides, a significant downregulatibrainepatic Caspase-3 was evident in the TML + IMID group compared to the IMID group. However, TML oral dosing has not significantly altered the IMID-induced nuclear factor (NF-κB p65) increase. Therefore, TML could be a protective agent against IMID-induced detrimental impacts on brain tissue, possibly through its antioxidant, antiapoptotic, and anti-inflammatory activities.

AIM: To assess the effect of parental and peer support on children's self-esteem during the isolation period in COVID-19-infected children is the main objective of this study. DESIGN: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study. One hundred ninety children with a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 were included. METHODS: A survey questionnaire to assess family and children's demographic characteristics was used for this study. A 13-item scale to assess parental support during the isolation period and a 10-item scale to assess peers' support during the isolation period were evaluated. Along with it, a 10-item scale to assess self-esteem during the isolation period was also measured. RESULTS: Home isolation was associated with higher parental and peer support scores than hospital isolation. The mean age of study participants was 13.23 ± 4.05 years; 52.6% were isolated at home versus 47.4% in hospital isolation. Phone calling and WhatsApp/messenger chat were methods of communication for 44.2% and 33.2% of patients, respectively. 6.3% of them had no method of communication. Child self-esteem was significantly affected by both parental and peer support during isolation. The increase in pronounced negative psychological effects such as disorientation, anger, low self-esteem and post-traumatic distress may be caused by a lack of parental care. NO PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION TO THIS STUDY: Patients or the general public were not involved in the design, analysis or interpretation of the data in this study. The study's aim and objectives were developed based on children's self-esteem, which was limited by questionnaire data information, so the researchers completed demographic and disease-related questionnaires by interviewing them.

BACKGROUND: Quality is a primary concern of health care agencies worldwide. A conducive clinical training environment is essential for nursing students to be capable of enhancing their learning experiences and achieving the desired training outcomes. AIM: This study aimed to examine the satisfaction and anxiety levels during clinical training among nursing students. TYPE OF STUDY: A descriptive -analytical cross-sectional study design was utilized. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Nursing, Assiut University and Colleges of Applied Medical Sciences in Alnamas and Bisha, University of Bisha. Sampling method: A convenience sampling technique was used. SAMPLE SIZE: a sample of 1052 undergraduate nursing students. The data was gathered via a structured questionnaire including the socio-demographic characteristics and nursing students' satisfaction with the hospital and laboratory training. Additionally, Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) was adopted to measure the anxiety level. RESULTS: The mean age of the studied sample was 21.9 ± 1.83 years, and 56.9% are females. Moreover, 90.1% & 76.4% of the nursing students were satisfied with their hospital and laboratory training. Furthermore, 61.1% & 54.8% of the students had mild levels of anxiety regarding their hospital training and laboratory training, respectively. CONCLUSION: The undergraduate nursing students had a high level of satisfaction with their clinical training at the hospitals and laboratories. Moreover, they had mild anxiety related to hospital and laboratory clinical training. RECOMMENDATIONS: Developing clinical orientation and training programs and improvement strategies to enhance the effectiveness of the clinical training environment. The establishment of a modern, tastefully designed, and fully stocked skill lab for the college's student training should receive more attention. CLINICAL RELEVANCE: Through the provision of ongoing education about different method of practice, nursing was intended to shape future professional nurses who master core competencies of the profession. Organizations may benefit from developing a comprehensive strategy to achieve an effective teaching program.

Acacia Senegal Gum hydrogel (HASG) with swollen dimension less than 50 µm were fabricated, and chemically modified with versatile diethylenetriamine (d-amine) to tailor the surface properties for environmental remediation. Negatively charged metal ions, for example, chromate (Cr(III)), dichromate (Cr(VI)), and arsenate (As(V)) were removed from aqueous media by using modified hydrogels (m-HASG). The FT-IR spectra revealed some new peaks due to d-amine treatment. The zeta potential measurements confirm a positively charged surface of HASG upon d-amine modification at ambient conditions. The absorption studies revealed that 0.05 g feed of m-(HASG) possesses 69.8, 99.3, and 40.00% cleaning potential against As(V), Cr(VI), and Cr(III), respectively with 2 h contact time in deionized water. Almost comparable adsorption efficiency was achieved by the prepared hydrogels towards the targeted analytes dissolved in real water samples. Adsorption isotherms, for example, Langmuir, Freundlich and modified Freundlich isotherms were applied to the collected data. Briefly, Modified Freundlich isotherm manifested comparatively agreeable line for the all adsorbents pollutants with highest R2 figure. In addition, maximum adsorption capacity (Qm) with 217, 256, and 271 mg g-1 numerical values were obtained against As(V), Cr(VI), and Cr(III), respectively. In real water samples, 217, 256, and 271 mg g-1 adsorption capacity was represented by m-(HASG). In brief, m-(HASG) is a brilliant material for environmental application as cleaner candidate towards toxic metal ions.
