Background: Colorectal cancer ranks second as a cause of cancer deaths. Mutations in the adenomatous polyposis coli (APC) gene, especially in exon 16, could contribute to colorectal carcinoma development. This study explored the correlations between APC gene exon 16 variations/expression and colorectal carcinoma progression. Methods: In a case-control study, blood samples from 150 colorectal carcinoma patients and 50 healthy volunteers were analyzed by PCR and sequencing for APC exon 16 variations. The APC protein expression on tissue samples was evaluated by immunohistochemistry and statistical analyses were used to examine clinicopathological correlations. Results: The sequencing analysis revealed a mutation in exon 16 of the APC gene (rs459552) in 36 % of colorectal cancer cases while absent in all non-cancer controls. Subgroup analysis by tumor grade showed higher prevalence of mutant allele in Grade II and Grade III cases, with frequencies reaching 60.0 % and 69.2 %, respectively, compared to a substantially lower prevalence of 29.4 % in Grade I patients. Immunohistochemistry showed no significant correlation between this mutation and APC expression. APC positivity proportions were 25.5 % in Grade I tumors (n = 26/102) versus 17.1 % in Grade II (n = 6/35) and 46.2 % in Grade III (n = 6/13), showing a non-significant trend of reduced positivity in higher grade tumors (p>0.05). Conclusions: The frequency of APC exon 16 mutation (rs459552) rose significantly with increasing tumor grade. Similarly, although not statistically significant, the percentage of APC positive staining increased with poorer tumor differentiation, rather than declining. Therefore, the APC exon 16 mutation and expression analysis provides insights into colorectal cancer progression, with the rs459552 mutation correlating with grade and may promoting aggression.

BACKGROUND: Obesity is a major health concern that requires accurate diagnosis and management. Body mass index (BMI) commonly used to diagnose obesity, has limitations in accurately assessing body fat. Body fat percentage (BF%) from whole-body dual energy X-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) scans is gaining popularity as a more accurate method in diagnosing obesity. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 319 adult patients who underwent whole-body DEXA scans in the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia from May 2016 to December 2021 were recruited from three medical centers, where data for whole-body DEXA were available. Body fat percent was obtained from the whole-body DEXA scan reports and were compared to BMI to evaluate prevalence of obesity. Data was extracted by reviewing patients' records using a structured data collection tool. BMI was defined using WHO criteria, and diagnostic performance was assessed by estimating specificity, sensitivity, likelihood ratios, and predictive values, and by constructing receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves for BMI to detect obesity by age group. RESULTS: The gender-specific BF% cutoff points revealed a higher prevalence of obesity than BMI cutoff points. BMI misclassified 40.6% of participants, and optimal cutoff points yielding highest area under the curve were 24 kg/m2 and 24.3 kg/m2 for males and females, respectively. CONCLUSION: The study underscores the importance of using accurate and comprehensive diagnostic tools such as whole-body DEXA scans to assess obesity.

SETTING: This study was conducted at a private tertiary hospital engaged with the TB control programme in the city of Lahore, Pakistan. OBJECTIVE: To assess the healthcare-seeking pathways, different delays and factors associated with delays among the patients who presented in the outpatient department with tuberculous lymphadenitis and pleuritis, the most common manifestations of extrapulmonary TB. DESIGN: This cross-sectional study was conducted prospectively from April 2016 to August 2017. RESULTS: The median age of the 339 patients analysed was 22 years (IQR 17-30); tuberculous lymphadenitis was predominant in females (63%), while pleuritis affected more males (64%). Overall, 62% reported seeking care from healthcare providers before diagnosis, of whom 62% sought care from private facilities, 32% visited facilities >2 times and 8% visited traditional healers. Diagnostic delay was associated with tuberculous lymphadenitis, age 15-44 years, poor socio-economic status and poor TB knowledge. CONCLUSION: There was considerable delay in the management of extrapulmonary TB patients, and the health-system delay was the major contributor, leading to increased patient suffering. Efforts towards minimising health-system delay need to be prioritised for patient screening and diagnosis, with a feasible algorithm that is workable in resource-limited settings.


CONTEXTE: Cette étude a été menée dans un hôpital tertiaire privé participant au programme de lutte contre la TB dans la ville de Lahore, au Pakistan. OBJECTIF: Évaluer les parcours de recherche de soins, les différents délais et les facteurs associés aux délais parmi les patients qui se sont présentés au service des consultations externes avec une lymphadénite et une pleurite tuberculeuses, les manifestations les plus courantes de la TB extrapulmonaire. MÉTHODE: Cette étude transversale a été menée prospectivement d'avril 2016 à août 2017. RÉSULTATS: L'âge médian des 339 patients analysés était de 22 ans (IQR 17­30) ; la lymphadénite tuberculeuse prédominait chez les femmes (63%), tandis que la pleurite touchait davantage les hommes (64%). Dans l'ensemble, 62% des patients ont déclaré avoir eu recours à des prestataires de soins de santé avant le diagnostic, dont 62% dans des établissements privés, 32% ont visité des établissements >2 fois et 8% ont consulté des guérisseurs traditionnels. Le retard de diagnostic était associé à la lymphadénite tuberculeuse, à l'âge de 15 à 44 ans, à un statut socio-économique défavorable et à un manque de connaissances sur la TB. CONCLUSION: La prise en charge des patients atteints de TB extrapulmonaire accuse un retard considérable, dont le système de santé est le principal responsable, ce qui accroît les souffrances des patients. Les efforts visant à minimiser le retard du système de santé doivent être priorisés pour le dépistage et le diagnostic des patients, avec un algorithme réalisable dans des environnements aux ressources limitées.

Parkin, the gene responsible for hereditary Parkinson's disease (PD) called "Autosomal Recessive Juvenile Parkinsonism (AR-JP)" was discovered a quarter of a century ago. Owing to its huge gene structure and unique protein functions, parkin has become a subject of interest to those involved in PD research and researchers and clinicians in various fields and is being vigorously studied worldwide in relation to its nature and disease. The gene structure was registered under the gene name "parkin" in the GenBank in 1997. In 1998, deletion and point mutations in the parkin gene were reported, thereby demonstrating parkin is the causative gene for hereditary PD. Although 25 years have passed since the gene's discovery and many researchers have worked tirelessly to elucidate the function of the Parkin protein and the mechanism of its role against neuronal cell death and pathogenesis remain unknown, which raises a major question concerning the current leading hypothesis. In this review, we present the results of related research on the parkin gene in chronological order and discuss unresolved problems concerning its function and pathology as well as new trends in the research conducted to solve them. The relationship between parkin and tumorigenesis has also been addressed from the perspective of Parkin's redox molecule.

PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to develop a positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer for measuring pyruvate kinase M2 (PKM2) with improved physicochemical and pharmacokinetic properties compared to [18F]DASA-23. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: First, we synthesized [18F]DASA-10 and tested its uptake and retention compared to [18F]DASA-23 in human and mouse glioma cell lines. We then confirmed the specificity of [18F]DASA-10 by transiently modulating the expression of PKM2 in DU145 and HeLa cells. Next, we determined [18F]DASA-10 pharmacokinetics in healthy nude mice using PET imaging and subsequently assessed the ability of [18F]DASA-10 versus [18F]DASA-23 to enable in vivo detection of intracranial gliomas in syngeneic C6 rat models of glioma. RESULTS: [18F]DASA-10 demonstrated excellent cellular uptake and retention with values significantly higher than [18F]DASA-23 in all cell lines and timepoints investigated. [18F]DASA-10 showed a 73 % and 65 % reduced uptake respectively in DU145 and HeLa cells treated with PKM2 siRNA as compared to control siRNA treated cells. [18F]DASA-10 showed favorable biodistribution and pharmacokinetic properties and a significantly improved tumor-to-brain ratio in rat C6 glioma models relative to [18F]DASA-23 (3.2 ± 0.8 versus 1.6 ± 0.3, p = 0.01). CONCLUSION: [18F]DASA-10 is a new PET radiotracer for molecular imaging of PKM2 with potential to overcome the prior limitations observed with [18F]DASA-23. [18F]DASA-10 shows promise for clinical translation to enable imaging of brain malignancies owing to its low background signal in the healthy brain.

BACKGROUND: Risk stratification for complex procedures such as microsurgical reconstruction of the lower extremities is an important part of preoperative planning and counseling. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the modified five-item frailty index (5-mFI) score, a validated tool for assessing risk in surgical patients, in predicting postoperative complications after lower extremity (LE) free flap reconstruction. METHODS: A retrospective review of the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS-NSQIP) database was conducted from 2010 to 2020 on patients who underwent LE free-flap reconstruction. 5-mFI scores were calculated and patients were categorized as 5-mFI ≥2 or <2. The primary endpoint was the presence of 30-day overall complications. The secondary endpoints included 30-day readmission, need for reoperation, and need to discharge to a care facility. Comparisons were made using one-way analysis of variances, Pearson's chi-squared test, or Fisher's extract test. Multivariable logistic regression models were performed for sex, age, BMI, smoker status, operative time, and ASA classification. RESULTS: Total of 294 (61.6% males) patients were identified. Univariate analysis showed 5-mFI ≥2 had higher rates of overall complications (p = .043) and hematologic complications (p = .033). In this population, there were also higher rates of reoperation (p = .003) and discharge to care facility (p < .001). Multivariable regression models further substantiated that 5-mFI ≥2 was independently associated with increased overall complications [2.46, CI: 1.10-5.59, p = .031], hematologic complications [2.55, 1.02-6.35, p = .046], reoperation [4.55, 1.54-13.3, p = .006], and discharge to facility [2.86, 1.27-6.45, p = .011]. CONCLUSIONS: There is a strong association of 5-mFI ≥2 with adverse post-operative outcomes in male patients undergoing LE free-flap reconstruction. This can be a valuable adjunct in the counsel of patients for whom lower extremity salvage is feasible.

Mutations in Exon 1, 2 and 3 of the vitamin K epoxide reductase complex subunit 1 (Vkorc1) gene are known to lead to anticoagulant rodenticide resistance. In order to investigate their putative resistance in rodenticides, we studied the genetic profile of the Vkorc1 gene in Turkish black rats (Rattus rattus) and brown rats (Rattus norvegicus). In this context, previously recorded Ala21Thr mutation (R. rattus) in Exon 1 region, Ile90Leu mutation (R. rattus, R. norvegicus) in Exon 2 region and Leu120Gln mutation (R. norvegicus) in Exon 3 region were identified as "missense mutations" causing amino acid changes. Ala21Thr mutation was first detected in one specimen of Turkish black rat despite the uncertainty of its relevance to resistance. Ile90Leu mutation accepted as neutral variant was detected in most of black rat specimens. Leu120Gln mutation related to anticoagulant rodenticide resistance was found in only one brown rat specimen. Furthermore, Ser74Asn, Gln77Pro (black rat) and Ser79Pro (brown rat) mutations that cause amino acid changes in the Exon 2 region but unclear whether they cause resistance were identified. In addition, "silent mutations" which do not cause amino acid changes were also defined; these mutations were Arg12Arg mutation in Exon 1 region, His68His, Ser81Ser, Ile82Ile and Leu94Leu mutations in Exon 2 region and Ile107Ile, Thr137Thr, Ala143Ala and Gln152Gln mutations in Exon 3 region. These silent mutations were found in both species except for Ser81Ser which was determined in only brown rats.

The loss of the E3 ligase Parkin, in a familial form of Parkinson's disease, is thought to cause the failure of both the polyubiquitination of abnormal mitochondria and the consequent induction of mitophagy, resulting in abnormal mitochondrial accumulation. However, this has not been confirmed in patient autopsy cases or animal models. More recently, the function of Parkin as a redox molecule that directly scavenges hydrogen peroxide has attracted much attention. To determine the role of Parkin as a redox molecule in the mitochondria, we overexpressed various combinations of Parkin, along with its substrates FAF1, PINK1, and ubiquitin in cell culture systems. Here, we observed that the E3 Parkin monomer was surprisingly not recruited to abnormal mitochondria but self-aggregated with or without self-ubiquitination into the inner and outer membranes, becoming insoluble. Parkin overexpression alone generated aggregates without self-ubiquitination, but it activated autophagy. These results suggest that for damaged mitochondria, the polyubiquitination of Parkin substrates on the mitochondria is not indispensable for mitophagy.

While laparoscopic simulation-based training is a well-established component of general surgery training, no such requirement or standardized curriculum exists for robotic surgery. Furthermore, there is a lack of high-fidelity electrocautery simulation training exercises in the literature. Using Messick's validity framework, we sought to determine the content, response process, internal content and construct validity of a novel inanimate tissue model that utilizes electrocautery for potential incorporation in such curricula. A multi-institutional, prospective study involving medical students (MS) and general surgery residents (PGY1-3) was conducted. Participants performed an exercise using a biotissue bowel model on the da Vinci Xi robotic console during which they created an enterotomy using electrocautery, followed by approximation with interrupted sutures. Participant performance was recorded and then scored by crowd-sourced assessors of technical skill, along with three of the authors. Construct validity was determined via difference in Global Evaluative Assessment of Robotic Skills (GEARS) score, time to completion, and total number of errors between the two cohorts. Upon completion of the exercise, participants were surveyed on their perception of the exercise and its impact on their robotic training to determine content validity. 31 participants were enrolled and separated into two cohorts: MS + PGY1 vs. PGY2-3. Time spent on the robotic trainer (0.8 vs. 8.13 h, p = 0.002), number of bedside robotic assists (5.7 vs. 14.8, p < 0.001), and number of robotic cases as primary surgeon (0.3 vs. 13.1, p < 0.001) were statistically significant between the two groups. Differences in GEARS scores (18.5 vs. 19.9, p = 0.001), time to completion (26.1 vs. 14.4 min, p < 0.001), and total errors (21.5 vs. 11.9, p = 0.018) between the groups were statistically significant as well. Of the 23 participants that completed the post-exercise survey, 87% and 91.3% reported improvement in robotic surgical ability and confidence, respectively. On a 10-point Likert scale, respondents rated the realism of the exercise 7.5, educational benefit 9.1, and effectiveness in teaching robotic skills 8.7. Controlling for the upfront investment of certain training materials, each exercise iteration cost ~ $30. This study confirmed the content, response process, internal structure and construct validity of a novel, high-fidelity and cost-effective inanimate tissue exercise which successfully incorporates electrocautery. Consideration should be given to its addition to robotic surgery training programs.

OBJECTIVES: The Oxford English Dictionary defines "intern" as "a student or trainee who works, sometimes without pay, at a trade or occupation in order to gain work experience." In the medical realm, the label "intern" may introduce confusion as well as implicit and explicit bias. In this study, we sought to examine the general public's perception of the label "intern" compared to the more accurate label "first-year resident." DESIGN: We developed 2 forms of a 9-item survey that assessed an individual's level of comfort with surgical trainees' participation in various aspects of surgical care and knowledge of medical education and work environment. One form used the label "intern" and the other used "first-year resident." SETTING: San Antonio, TX. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 148 adults in the general population at 3 local parks on 3 separate occasions. RESULTS: A total of 148 individuals completed the survey (74 per form). Respondents who did not work in the medical field reported less comfort with interns vs first-year residents participating in various aspects of their care. Only 36% of respondents were able to correctly identify which surgical team members have completed a medical degree. Directly assessing perceptual incongruity between the labels "intern" and "first-year resident," 43% of respondents said interns have a medical degree compared to 59% for first-year residents (p = 0.008), 88% stated that interns work full-time in the hospital compared to 100% for first-year residents (p = 0.041), and 82% stated that interns get paid for their work in the hospital compared to 97% for first-year residents (p = 0.047). CONCLUSIONS: The label "intern" may confuse patients, family members, and perhaps other healthcare professionals regarding the level of experience and knowledge of first-year residents. We advocate for abolishing the term "intern" and replacing it with "first-year resident" or simply "resident."

Mutations in ATP13A2 (PARK9), an autophagy-related protein, cause Kufor-Rakeb syndrome, an autosomal recessive, juvenile-onset form of parkinsonism. α-Synuclein (α-syn) is a presynaptic neuronal protein that forms toxic aggregates in Parkinson's disease (PD). We studied α-syn aggregation and autophagic flux in ATP13A2-knockdown Drosophila expressing either wild-type (WT) or mutant α-syn. Dopaminergic (DA) neuron loss was studied by confocal microscopy. Sleep and circadian activity were evaluated in young and old flies using a Drosophila activity monitor. Thirty-day-old ATP13A2-RNAi A53T-α-syn flies had increased Triton-insoluble α-syn levels, compared to control A53T-α-syn flies without ATP13A2-RNAi. Whole-brain staining revealed significantly fewer dopaminergic (DA) neurons in the PPL2 cluster of 30-day-old ATP13A2-RNAi flies expressing WT-, A30P-, and A53T-α-syn than in that of controls. In ATP13A2-RNAi A53T-α-syn flies, autophagic flux was decreased, as indicated by increased accumulation of Ref(2)P, the Drosophila p62 homologue. ATP13A2 silencing decreased total locomotor activity in young, and enhanced sleep features, similar to PD (decreasing bout length), in old flies expressing A53T-α-syn. ATP13A2 silencing also altered the circadian locomotor activity of A30P- and A53T-α-syn flies. Thus, ATP13A2 may play a role in the autophagic degradation of A53T-α-syn.

BACKGROUND: Left distal transradial angiography (ldTRA) is a new technique for radial coronary angiography and may be an alternative to conventional transfemoral angiography (TFA) in patients who had previously undergone coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. In this study we compared ldTRA with TFA in patients who had undergone CABG surgery in terms of procedural details. METHODS: Fifty-seven consecutive patients with history of previous CABG among 459 patients who were admitted to coronary angiography unit (elective and acute coronary syndromes) in our center between October 2019 and February 2020 were included in the study. Consecutive patients were randomized to ldTRA (34 patients) and TFA (23 patients) group. The difference in total procedure times was defined as primary endpoint. The difference in sheat times, fluoroscopy times, contrast volume used and radiation exposure were designated as secondary endpoints. Post angiographic complications were compared between two groups. RESULTS: Out of 34 patients, successful distal radial access was obtained in 25 patients (74%). Baseline demographics, contrast use and radiation exposure were similar between groups. Sheath times in ldTRA was significantly longer (P<0.001), but total procedure times were not different (18.4±7.8 vs. 14.6±6.1, P=0.07). Non-standard angiographic equipment usage was significantly higher in ldTRA procedures (80% vs. 13%, P<0.001). There was no major bleeding in neither of groups, and three minor bleedings in FA group (0% vs.13%, P=0.10). CONCLUSIONS: ldTRA in patients with a palpable pulse and successful access might be used successfully for angiography in patient with previous CABG even early in an operator's experience.

PURPOSE: This study evaluated the results of polidocanol sclerotherapy in the treatment of venous malformations (VM) including patient satisfaction, perceived improvement, and predictors of satisfaction. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Patients with VM that underwent polidocanol foam sclerotherapy between June 2013 and July 2021 in a single center were retrospectively evaluated. Patient demographics, VM, and treatment characteristics were analyzed. Patient-reported outcomes and satisfaction were analyzed with a questionnaire. RESULTS: This study included 232 (136, 58.6%, female) patients. The mean age was 24.49 ± 12.45 years (range 3-72). The clinical response rate was 82.3%. The rate of satisfaction was 82.3%, and 116 (50%) patients were significantly satisfied. There were no major complications. Clinical response and VM margin were related to satisfaction (p < 0.01, p = 0.012, respectively). Clinical response to pretreatment swelling was related to significant satisfaction (p = 0.02). CONCLUSION: Polidocanol sclerotherapy was safe and effective in VM treatment with high satisfaction and low complication rates.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is the second most common neurological disorder, pathologically characterized by loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra pars compacta (SNc) as well as the formation of Lewy bodies composed mainly of α-synuclein (α-syn) aggregates. It has been documented that abnormal aggregation of α-syn is one of the major causes of developing PD. In the current study, administration of ellagic acid (EA), a polyphenolic compound (10 mg/kg bodyweight), significantly decreased α-syn spreading and preserved dopaminergic neurons in a male C57BL/6 mouse model of PD. Moreover, EA altered the autophagic flux, suggesting the involvement of a restorative mechanism meditated by EA treatment. Our data support that EA could play a major role in the clearing of toxic α-syn from spreading, in addition to the canonical antioxidative role, and thus preventing dopaminergic neuronal death.

Open testicular biopsy histology and fine needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) are the most popular tests used to diagnose male infertility. This study aimed to assess the cytological characteristics of 186 infertile males aged 24-63 with testicular FNAC. Furthermore, the existing relationship between males with severe oligospermia (sperm count: 5 million/ml) and azoospermia was investigated via both cytological and histological diagnosis methods. With a 1.5-inch and 25-gauge needle, the testis was aspirated from three locations (the upper, middle, and lower poles). Papanicolaou stain or Giemsa stain was used to make smears on albumenized slides, which were then dried in the air and stained. A biopsy of the testicles was performed there, preserved in Bouins solution, processed as usual, and stained with hematoxylin and eosin stain. According to our findings, 66.7% of patients had secondary maturation arrest, whereas 18.3% and 15.1% of them had hypospermatogenesis and Sertoli cell only (SCO). Results of the comparison showed that both procedures were very similar. According to biopsy histological examinations, only 3 (1.6%) of the 28 normal FNAC instances had hypospermatogenesis with lymphocyte infiltration. The majority of SCO patients were over 50 years old. These findings revealed that FNAC is more effective than testicular histology for the assessment of male infertility.

INTRODUCTION: Robotic-assisted surgery is gaining popularity because of reported improvement in aesthetic outcomes while reducing the occurrence of complications compared with conventional surgical methods. Deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flap harvesting has a long track record as a viable procedure for autologous reconstruction of the breast. In this literature review, we describe the feasibility of using the robotic platform in DIEP flap harvest. METHODS: The Preferred Reporting Items for Systemic Reviews and Meta-Analysis methodology was to guide the literature review. PubMed and Scopus databases were searched from inception to June 6, 2022. The Medical Subject Heading terms and keywords used to conduct this search are as described: "Robotic AND deep inferior epigastric perforator AND Breast reconstruction." RESULTS: Seven publications, detailing a total of 56 robotic-assisted DIEP flap harvest procedures, were selected for review. Four publications used the transabdominal preperitoneal approach, whereas 2 exclusively used a totally extraperitoneal approach, and 1 compared the 2 approaches. The measured outcomes included technical feasibility of flap harvest in cadavers, viable flap harvest in live patients, harvest time and pedicle dissection time, pedicle length, fascial incision length, donor site pain, need for postoperative narcotic, donor site morbidity, and hernia formation. Overall, the reviewed articles demonstrated successful DIEP flap harvesting without the need for conversion to the conventional open procedure. Postoperative complications were minimal. Robotic DIEP flap harvest was shown to be safe and there were no reports of donor-site morbidity in the studies reviewed. The main advantages of the robotic approach include decreased postoperative pain and length of hospital stay, along with improved aesthetic outcomes. The main disadvantages are increased operative time and cost. CONCLUSIONS: Although at its current iteration, the robotic-assisted DIEP flap is feasible, it may not be practical in all settings. Furthermore, the true benefit of the robotic platform is yet to be determined, as more long-term studies are necessary.

Due to the complexity of liver transplant patients and the variability in exposure to transplantation by anesthesia trainees, simulation is often required as an adjunct to clinical experience. This systematic review identifies current simulation models in the literature that pertain to perioperative liver transplant anesthesia. Data were collected by performing an electronic search of the PubMed and Scopus databases for articles describing simulation in transplant anesthesia. Abstracts were screened using the preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analysis (PRISMA) guidelines. Three reviewers analyzed 16 abstracts found in the search and agreed upon articles that met the inclusion criteria for the systematic review. A total of five publications met the inclusion criteria; they could be grouped as cognitive skills and technical skills simulators. Cognitive skills simulators utilized high-fidelity mannequins and animal models combined with traditional educational material to enhance pattern recognition of critical complications during liver transplantation. One manuscript focused on a technical skills acquisition by utilizing transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) to identify intraoperative pathologies. There is a heterogeneity in the exposure to liver transplant care during anesthesia training. Simulation provides low-stakes exposure to the high-stakes skills required in the operating room. Hence, it can be used as an adjunct to improve both cognitive and technical skill acquisition for perioperative transplant anesthesia. The goal of these simulation programs is to improve patient outcomes and produce more capable anesthesiologists.
