RESUMO

Smart phone use is on the rise globally, which may have an impact on people's health. The second-largest country in terms of mobile phone usage is India. However, there aren't many studies that have been done in India to evaluate its health impacts. Therefore, it is of interest to assess the effectiveness of codex on the impact of smart phone use on various dimensions of health status among adolescence. The pre-test mean score for knowledge regarding the impact of smart phones on physical health was 1.92, while the post-test mean score was 3.75. The pre-test and post-test standard deviations were 0.91 and 0.93, respectively, and the mean deviation score was the 't'-value that was 11.000 and Significant at the p<0.001*** level. The research was conducted in higher secondary school, and 60 students participated. The research design was a pre-experimental design; a self-administered questionnaire was used to assess the knowledge of Students on the Impact of mobile phone use on various dimensions of health. Most people, on average, spend 3 hours and 15 minutes on their phones each day. As adolescents are engaged in smartphone use, it disturbs their sleep patterns, adversely impacting their short-term memory.

RESUMO

A person's total perception of his or her value or worth is referred to as self-esteem. It may serve as a proxy for how much a person "values, approves of, appreciates, prizes, or likes [him or herself]". The study's major goals were to assess adolescents' levels of self-esteem and examine the impact assertiveness training had on those adolescents' self-esteem. The research design selected for the study was pre-experimental one group pre-test and post-test research design". Anon-probability convenience sampling technique was used to obtain a sample of 60 adolescents who fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale was the study's primary instrument, a 10-item questionnaire that a person fills out and scores on a 0-3 scale, containing both positive and negative items, is used to measure one's degree of self-esteem. In this case, questions 2, 5, 6, 8, and 9 had lower scores than questions 1,3,4,7 and 10. The Likert scale looks like this: Strongly disagree, strongly agree, agree, and disagree. The mean Self-Esteem score prior to the test was 11.33 with a standard deviation of 1.28, whereas the mean Self-Esteem score after the test was 21.16 with a standard deviation of 1.94. The mean difference of 9.83 is significant at 0.001 levels. The 't' value of 33.4 was higher than the table value. This study provides evidence of adolescents' self-esteem has been improved through assertiveness training.

RESUMO

Acute respiratory infections (ARI) account for 14.3% of new born mortality and 15.9% of death among children aged 1 to 5 in India, making them significant contributors to morbidity and mortality in children. However, the bulk of these fatalities would be avoided if mothers were aware of the symptoms and signs of infections so that prompt referrals could be made. The goal of the current study was to gauge mothers of children under the age of five's knowledge of ARI and examine how well an education programme did in raising that knowledge. The information was gathered from 60 mothers of young children under the age of five in different areas around Gujarat State in India. The pre-intervention-post-test methodology was used. The mean pre-test observation score was 8.51, the mean post-test score was 19.31, and the mean difference was 11. There were 60 samples; the pre-test and post-test scores had standard deviations of 4.59 and 2.54, respectively. The calculated "t" value was also 17.29, the DF was 59, and the table value of "t" was 1.67. These findings demonstrate that the educational programme on ARI was successful in increasing the mother's knowledge.

RESUMO

Surgery is a major part in the field of Gynecology. Hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus which is leading non-obstetric surgery worldwide, after caesarean sections. The objective of the current study was to determine how well women undergoing hysterectomy surgery managed their pre-operative and post-operative self-care. A quasi experimental single group pre-test and posttest design was used for this inquiry. Pre - and post-operative self-care management questionnaires were used to collect data from 60 women. Utilizing descriptive and inferential statistics like mean, standard deviation, and chi-square test, data were gathered and examined. Data analysis revealed, the mean post-test knowledge score (23.81) was greater than the mean pre-test knowledge score (10.33). The average disparity was (13.48) with the estimated "t" value (16.003), which was more than the table value (1.67) at 0.05 level of significance, showing that the self-care management education program was successful in increasing women's understanding on hysterectomy. The study concluded that pre- and post-operative self-care management education program had significantly improved health status among women underwent hysterectomy.

RESUMO

Malnutrition caused by ineffective weaning techniques used during infancy and early childhood might affect cognitive and social development, school performance, and productivity in later life. The aim of the study was to evaluate the efficacy of education program in enhancing the awareness of mothers of under 5 children regarding weaning diet. The data was collected from 60 mothers of under 5 year's children. The existing awareness was assessed using a self-structured questionnaire. After pre intervention test, the mothers were provided with educational pamphlets and teaching programme with the help of pictures and charts. Benefits of complementary feeding, types of diet and its importance were included in the teaching program. The effectiveness of the teaching programme was assessed seven days after the start of the education programme. The mean score on the pre-test was 6.98, and the mean score on the post-test was 15.46. The average disparity was 8.48. The pre-test knowledge score's standard deviation was 3.85 and the post-test knowledge score's standard deviation was 4.23. The DF value was 59, the p value was 1.671, and the calculated "t" value is 24.98. At the 0.05 level of significance, the estimated "t" value (24.98) was higher than the table value (1.67) indicating that the education programme was successful in improving mothers' knowledge of weaning food.

RESUMO

Around one-third of adults worldwide regularly come into contact with passive smoking. In addition to many other health issues, non-smokers who are exposed to passive smoking at home or at work have a 20-30% higher risk of acquiring lung cancer. The current study set out to determine adult smokers' awareness of the hazards of passive smoking as well as the efficacy of an education campaign in raising that awareness. To finish the investigation, a pre-experimental research approach was employed. 60 adults between the ages of 18 and 45 were chosen by non-probability purposive sampling. Results revealed that the mean of pre-test score was 12.33 and mean of post-test score was 21.5. The mean difference was 9.17. The standard deviation of pre-test knowledge score was 2.87 and standard deviation post-test knowledge score was 3.27. The calculated 't' value is 14.80, the DF value was 59 and p value was 1.671. This shows that the teaching program was effective in increasing the awareness of adults regarding effects of passive smoking. Age and education status of the sample were found to have significant association with the level of awareness in pre-test. Teaching programs can be effectively utilized to create awareness among adults regarding adverse effects of passive smoking.
