RESUMO

Developing open-shell singlet (OS) diradicals with high luminescent properties and exceptional single-molecule magnetoluminescence (ML) performance is extremely challenging. Herein, we propose a concept to enhance luminescent efficiency by adjusting the donor conjugation of OS diradicals, thereby achieving a highly luminescent diradical, DR1, with outstanding stability and making it a viable option for use in the emitting layer of organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). More importantly, the 0.5 wt%-DR1 doped film demonstrates significant single-molecule magnetoluminescence (ML) properties. A giant ML value of 210% is achieved at a magnetic field of 7 T, showing the great potential of DR1 in magneto-optoelectronic devices.

RESUMO

The global trade in live wildlife elevates the risk of biological invasions by increasing colonization pressure (the number of alien species introduced to an area). Yet, our understanding of species traded as aliens remains limited. We created a comprehensive global database on live terrestrial vertebrate trade and use it to investigate the number of traded alien species, and correlates of establishment richness for aliens. We identify 7,780 species involved in this trade globally. Approximately 85.7% of these species are traded as aliens, and 12.2% of aliens establish populations. Countries with greater trading power, higher incomes, and larger human populations import more alien species. These countries, along with island nations, emerge as hotspots for establishment richness of aliens. Colonization pressure and insularity consistently promote establishment richness across countries, while socio-economic factors impact specific taxa. Governments must prioritize policies to mitigate the release or escape of traded animals and protect global biosecurity.

RESUMO

Adaptive genetic variations are key for understanding evolutionary processes influencing invasions. However, we have limited knowledge on how adaptive genetic diversity in invasive species responds to new pathogenic environments. Here, we compared variations in immune major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class-II ß gene and neutral loci in relation to pathogenic chytrid fungus (Batrachochytrium dendrobatidis, Bd) infection across invasive and native populations of American bullfrog between China and United States (US). Chinese invasive populations show a 60% reduction in neutral cytb variations relative to US native populations, and there were similar MHC variation and functional diversity between them. One MHC allele private to China was under recent positive selection and associated with decreased Bd infection, partly explaining the lower Bd prevalence for Chinese populations than for native US populations. These results suggest that pathogen-mediated selection favors adaptive MHC variations and functional diversity maintenance against serious bottlenecks during the early invasions (within 15 generations) of bullfrogs.

RESUMO

Bright and efficient deep-red light-emitting diodes (LEDs) are important for applications in medical therapy and biological imaging due to the high penetration of deep-red photons into human tissues. Metal-halide perovskites have potential to achieve bright and efficient electroluminescence due to their favorable optoelectronic properties. However, efficient and bright perovskite-based deep-red LEDs have not been achieved yet, due to either Auger recombination in low-dimensional perovskites or trap-assisted nonradiative recombination in 3D perovskites. Here, a lateral Cs4 PbI6 /FAx Cs1- x PbI3 (0D/3D) heterostructure that can enable efficient deep-red perovskite LEDs at very high brightness is demonstrated. The Cs4 PbI6 can facilitate the growth of low-defect FAx Cs1- x PbI3 , and act as low-refractive-index grids, which can simultaneously reduce nonradiative recombination and enhance light extraction. This device reaches a peak external quantum efficiency of 21.0% at a photon flux of 1.75 × 1021 m-2 s-1 , which is almost two orders of magnitude higher than that of reported high-efficiency deep-red perovskite LEDs. Theses LEDs are suitable for pulse oximeters, showing an error <2% of blood oxygen saturation compared with commercial oximeters.

RESUMO

Solution-processed metal-halide perovskites are emerging as one of the most promising materials for displays, lighting and energy generation. Currently, the best-performing perovskite optoelectronic devices are based on lead halides and the lead toxicity severely restricts their practical applications. Moreover, efficient white electroluminescence from broadband-emission metal halides remains a challenge. Here we demonstrate efficient and bright lead-free LEDs based on cesium copper halides enabled by introducing an organic additive (Tween, polyethylene glycol sorbitan monooleate) into the precursor solutions. We find the additive can reduce the trap states, enhancing the photoluminescence quantum efficiency of the metal halide films, and increase the surface potential, facilitating the hole injection and transport in the LEDs. Consequently, we achieve warm-white LEDs reaching an external quantum efficiency of 3.1% and a luminance of 1570 cd m-2 at a low voltage of 5.4 V, showing great promise of lead-free metal halides for solution-processed white LED applications.
