Objective: To explore the effects of aromatherapy massage combined with TCM emotional release technique on maternal and neonatal physical and mental health and family relationships in patients with postpartum depression. Methods: A The total number of participants in the study was 160, who were evenly distributed through random assignment into four groups of 40 in each group. This random assignment process was designed to ensure that each group was similar in terms of demographic characteristics and other potential confounding factors to increase the comparability and internal validity of the study. The 160 patients with postpartum depression admitted to the obstetrics department of the Hebei 3a Hospital were enrolled between April 2021 and May 2022, and they were randomly divided into control group, sweet orange aromatherapy massage group, emotional release technique group and combination group, 40 cases in each group. The negative emotions, stress state, mania, levels of neurotransmitters and family intimacy adaptability were compared in the four groups before and after intervention. Results: After the intervention, scores of a generalized anxiety disorder (GAD-7) and Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale (EPDS) in the combination group were higher than those in the other three groups, and were higher in the emotional release technique group and sweet orange aromatherapy massage group than control group (P < .05). After the intervention, scores of PTSD Checklist-Civilian Version (PCL) and 32-item hypomania checklist (HCL-32) were the highest in the control group, followed by the sweet orange aromatherapy massage group, emotional release technique group and combination group (P < .05). After the intervention, levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and dopamine (DA) were the highest in the combination group, followed by the emotional release technique group, sweet orange aromatherapy massage group, and control group (P < .05), and adaptability level of family intimacy was also in the same order (P < .05). In the combined treatment group, generalized anxiety disorder score (GAD-7) and postpartum depression scale (EPDS) scores were increased compared with the control group, indicating increased symptom severity in these two areas. GAD-7 and EPDS scores also increased significantly in the emotional release technique group and the sweet orange aromatherapy massage group. Although the magnitude of the increase may be different, both interventions seemed to lead to an increase in anxiety and depressive symptoms. As the intervention progressed, the control group had the highest scores on the Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist-Citizen Version (PCL) and the Hyperactivity Checklist 32 (HCL-32), followed by the Sweet Orange Aromatherapy Massage Group and the Emotional Release Technique group and combined treatment group. This indicates that symptom severity was significantly higher in the control group than in the other intervention groups in both areas. Levels of serotonin (5-HT) and dopamine (DA) increased in different groups, the highest in the combined treatment group, followed by the emotional release technique group, sweet orange aromatherapy massage group and the control group. This may indicate that the combination treatment had a positive effect on modulating the levels of these neurotransmitters. The adaptation level of family intimacy also changed according to the same trend. The highest level was in the combined treatment group, followed by the emotional release technique group, the sweet orange aromatherapy massage group and the control group. This may mean that combined treatment has a positive impact on the adaptability of family relationships. Conclusion: Aromatherapy massage combined with an emotional release technique can reduce negative emotions, stress, and mania, improve positive emotions and family intimacy adaptability of patients. These findings have important clinical implications as they relate to the well-being of women and families in the postpartum period. Reducing negative emotions and stress will improve women's mental health and improve their quality of life. In addition, positive emotional support helps create a healthy family atmosphere and has a positive impact on society as a whole.

Organophosphate esters (OPEs) are widely used as flame retardants and plasticizers in industrial and commercial products. It is generally believed that OPEs in street dust mainly originate from road traffic and anthropogenic activities. The influence of atmospheric deposition is still unknown. In this study, leaves were employed as a novel passive air sampler to collect particle matters (PM) in 12 cities in the central province of Henan, China. Similar compositional profiles of OPEs were found in street dust and PM samples. The concentrations of individual OPEs in PM were 1-4 times higher than in street dust. Chlorinated OPEs concentration in PM shows a moderate correlation (r2 = 0.538, p < 0.01) with that in street dust. The concentration of alkyl OPEs in PM has a high correlation (r2 = 0.843, p < 0.01) with that in street dust. No significant correlation (r2 = 0.133, p = 0.132) was found on the aryl OPEs concentrations between street dust and PM. Spearman correlation reveals that the emission sources of tricresyl phosphate (TCrP) and triethyl phosphate (TEP) may be different from other OPEs in dust and PM samples. Principle component analysis (PCA) provides an appropriate explanation that tris (2-chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP), triphenyl phosphate (TPhP), tris (chloropropyl) phosphate (TCPP), tributyl phosphate (TnBP), and TEP in street dust and PM may be emitted from the same sources, suggesting that PM has a significant influence on the occurrence of OPEs in street dust. The estimated dry deposition fluxes of particle-bound OPEs show a significant correlation (R2 = 0.969, p < 0.01) with OPEs concentrations in street dust, revealing that the input of atmospheric deposition could be a major source of OPEs in street dust.

In this study, the impact of biochar on the degradation of organophosphate esters (OPEs) during the aerobic composting of sewage sludge was investigated. Three treatments were conducted with different percentages of biochar in the compost, including 5 %, 10 %, and 20 %. The treatment with 10 % of biochar showed the longest thermophilic phase compared to that of 5 % and 20 % of biochar, which greatly promoted the decomposition of organic matter. In addition, the degradation rate of the hard-to-degrade chlorinated-OPEs was significantly increased by 10 % biochar, reaching to 57.2 %. Correspondingly, approximately 43.6 % of the total concentration of OPEs (Σ6OPEs) was eliminated in the presence of 10 % of biochar, which was higher than the treatments with 5 % and 20 % of biochar. Biochar significantly influenced the microbial community structure of compost, but the previously reported organophosphorus-degrading bacteria did not play a major role in the degradation of OPEs. The redox ability of the increased oxygen-containing functional groups such as quinone on the surface of biochar and the biochar-mediated electron transfer ability may play an essential role in the degradation of OPEs during the composting process.

Methanol toxicity remains as major problem in the medical field.[1],[2],[3] With its active metabolite, formic acid often leads to severe metabolic acidosis and to some extend brain damaged.[4],[5],[6] We are reporting a case of brain hemorrhage at the right external capsule and left basal ganglia with mass effect and obstructive hydrocephalus in a methanol poisoning patient. A confused 29-year-old gentleman was brought into hospital. Initial investigation showed severe metabolic acidosis with raised anion gap. Initial brain CT scan was normal. Subsequently, serum methanol was reported to be high (112 mg/dL). Intravenous (IV) ethanol 10% was given without any delayed. As there was no improvement in his consciousness level, a repeat brain CT was performed and it showed multiple cerebral hemorrhage with obstructive hydrocephalus. Hence, clinicians should have high index of suspicion for cerebral hemorrhage in a patient with methanol toxicity, who presented with altered mental status and severe metabolic acidosis.

BACKGROUND: The tumorigenesis of infused umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) is being preclinically evaluated. METHODS: We observed tumor formation in NOD SCID mice after a single subcutaneous injection of hUC-MSCs and the effect of these cells on tumor growth in tumor-bearing mice. Three generations (P5, P7, and P10) of hUC-MSCs (1 × 107) from two donors (hUC-MSC1 and hUC-MSC2) were inoculated subcutaneously into NOD SCID mice. Subcutaneous transplantation models were established in NOD SCID mice with human cervical cancer HeLa cells (solid tumor) and human B cell lymphoma Raji cells (hematological tumor). Then, the animals were euthanized, gross dissection was performed, and tissues were collected. Various organs were observed microscopically to identify pathological changes and tumor metastasis. RESULTS: In the tumorigenesis experiment, no general anatomical abnormalities were observed. In the tumor promotion experiment, some animals in the HeLa groups experienced tumor rupture, and one animal died in each of the low- and medium-dose hUC-MSC groups. The results may have occurred due to the longer feeding time, and the tumor may have caused spontaneous infection and death. Pathological examination revealed no metastasis to distant organs in any group. In the Raji tumor model, some animals in each group experienced tumor rupture, and one animal in the medium-dose hUC-MSC group died, perhaps due to increased tumor malignancy. Thus, hUC-MSCs neither promoted nor inhibited tumor growth. No cancer cell metastasis was observed in the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, kidneys or other important organs, except that pulmonary venule metastasis was observed in 1 animal in the model group. CONCLUSIONS: Injected hUC-MSCs were not tumorigenic and did not significantly promote or inhibit solid or hematological tumor growth or metastasis in NOD SCID mice.

Pennisetum sinese Roxb, named king grass or 'sugarcane grass', belonging to the Poaceae family, is widely cultivated in China because of its use for livestock feed, bioenergy, water-soil conservation and phytoremediation. In September 2018, leaf blast on P. sinese was observed in a pasture in Zhanjiang, Guangdong province (21.15°N, 110.30°E ). The lesions initially were round, water-soaked, oval or spindle-shaped, then later turned to typical eye-shaped, whitish in the center with brown-black necrotic borders surrounded by a yellow halo (Fig. S1). Almost all of plants were infected and most of the spots appeared on the blades in the lower part of the plants. The leaves gradually turned yellow and withered, which affected the growth and quality of the herbage. Diseased leaves were surface-sterilized with 75% ethanol for 30s, followed by 3% hydrogen peroxide solution for 3 mins, and rinsed three times with sterile water, then placed in a hermetic container with moistened filter paper, and kept at 21-24℃ to stimulate conidiogenesis. After conidiation, conidial suspensions were prepared with sterile water and evenly spread onto PDA, and incubated at 25 ℃ in the dark to collect single-spore isolates. Colonies on PDA were fuscous black with grey centers, broad white and flat. Conidiophores were solitary, erect, straight or curved, unbranched, medium brown, smooth, 2 septate, and sometimes up to 5 septate. Conidia with a protruding and truncating hilum on basal-cells were pyriform to obclavate, 2 septate, 22.2-28.8 × 7.1-9.6 µm ( 24.9±1.7 × 8.5±0.6 µm) (Fig S2). The internal transcribed spacer region (ITS), nrRNA gene large subunit (LSU), actin gene (ACT) and RNA polymerase II largest subunit gene (RPB2) were PCR amplified, and the amplicons were sequenced by Sangon Biotech (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. (ITS: OM294657, LSU: OM294656, ACT: OM304642, RPB2: OM304643). BLASTn result showed above 99% nucleotide identity with the ITS (KM484935 465/465 bp), LSU (MH412641 862/863 bp), ACT (XM_029891619 418/421 bp) and RPB2 (XM_029892603 894/898 bp) of Pyricularia pennisetigena strains. Maximum likelihood (ML) analysis based on ITS using MEGA revealed that the fungal isolate clustered in P. pennisetigena clade with 99% bootstrap support (Fig S3). Based on morpho-molecular criteria, the fungus was identified as P. pennisetigena (Klaubauf et al., 2014; Gómez Luciano et al, 2019; Wang et al., 2019). Four healthy leaves of a 2-month-old plant were surface disinfected, and 2 leaves were wounded with a sterile needle (3 wound sites each leaf), then one leaf was inoculated with 10 µl 105 conidia/ml suspension on each site, and on the other leaf, sterile water was used as the control inoculation. The similar inoculations were conducted on the other 2 unwounded leaves. Pathogenicity tests were repeated three times. Seven days later, all inoculated leaves (wounded and unwounded) showed typical symptoms, while no symptoms were observed with the controls on both the wounded and unwounded leaves. The same fungus was recovered and confirmed by morphology and the ITS and LSU sequences. P. pennisetigena is pathogenic on a wide range of Poaceae plants in Brazil, Japan, Mali, Philippines, United States, China (Klaubauf et al., 2014; Reges et al., 2016, Wang et al., 2019). Han et al (2020) reported bacterial leaf blast on king grass while this is first report of P. pennisetigena causing leaf blast. This finding is a warning to prevent and control of this disease and its infectivity to Poaceae plants.

BACKGROUND: The ovaries are the core reproductive organs in women and are critical for maintaining normal reproductive function and endocrine system stability. An ageing C57 mouse model was used to evaluate the efficacy and mechanism of mouse umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (mUCMSCs) and to explore the mechanism by which mUCMSCs promote the antioxidant repair of mouse granulosa cells (mGCs). RESULTS: Eighteen-month-old C57 mice were randomly divided into a model group and a treatment group. At the same time, 2-month-old C57 mice were established as a young group (15 mice per group). The mice in the treatment group were injected via the tail vein with GFP-labelled mUCMSCs. The ovarian volume in ageing C57 mice was decreased, and there were no follicles at any stage. After mUCMSC transplantation, the mouse ovaries increased in size, follicles at various stages were observed in the cortex, and the antral follicle counts increased. The serum E2, AMH, and INH-B levels of mice in the treatment group were significantly higher than those of mice in the model control group (P < 0.05). mUCMSCs downregulated the expression of the autophagy-related gene LC3b and the apoptosis-related genes Bax and Caspase-3, upregulated the expression of SOD2 and the peroxidase gene PRDX IV, and reduced apoptosis rates and reactive oxygen species (ROS) levels in granulosa cells. CONCLUSIONS: mUCMSCs play roles in promoting the repair of ageing ovaries by regulating immunity, anti-inflammatory responses and the PI3K-Akt signalling pathway.

Based on the characteristics of modern weapon injury, a repetitive model of traumatic systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS) and an evaluation system were established. The models were treated with GFP-labeled tree shrew umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs). Forty out of 50 tree shrews were used to make a unilateral femoral comminuted fracture. Lipopolysaccharide was injected intravenously to create a traumatic SIRS model. The other 10 shrews were used as normal controls. After the model was established for 10 days, 20 tree shrews were injected intravenously with GFP-labeled UCMSCs, and 18 tree shrews were not injected as the model control group. The distribution of GFP-labeled cells in vivo was measured at 2 and 10 days after injection. Twenty days after treatment, the model group, the normal control group, and the treatment group were taken to observe the pathological changes in each tissue, and blood samples were taken for the changes in liver, renal, and heart function. Distribution of GFP-positive cells was observed in all tissues at 2 and 10 days after injection. After treatment, the HE staining results of the treatment group were close to those of the normal group, and the model group had a certain degree of lesions. The results of liver, renal, and heart function tests in the treatment group were returned to normal, and the results in the model group were abnormally increased. UCMSCs have a certain effect on the treatment of traumatic SIRS and provide a new technical solution for modern weapon trauma treatment.

Six organophosphate esters (OPEs) with different octanol-air partition coefficient (KOA) were measured from gas and particle samples collected from an urban area of Central China between June 2018 and May 2019. The highest concentration of total OPEs (∑6OPEs) in total suspended particle (TSP) were found in winter, followed by spring, autumn, and summer. ∑6OPEs showed significant positive correlation with TSP concentration (p < 0.01), significant negative correlation with temperature (p < 0.01), weak negative linear correlations with relative humility (p < 0.05), and no significant correlations with wind speed (p > 0.05). Although OPEs were not detected in polyurethane foams (PUFs), the poly-parameter linear free energy relationship model (pp-LFER) estimated particle fractions of OPEs (fpart pp-LFERg/p) were below 2.73% for Tris (2-chloroisopropyl) phosphate (TCIPP), Tris (chloroethyl) phosphate (TCEP), and Tributyl phosphate (TnBP); 67.8% for Triphenyl phosphate (TPhP); and above 99.6% for TBOEP and TCrP. The concentrations of particle-bound TPhP, TCrP, and TBOEP estimated by pp-LFER (Cpart pp-LFERg/p) were 0.19, 0.09, and 0.05 ng/m3, which were in good agreement with measurements. However, the estimated Cpart pp-LFERg/p of TCEP, TCIPP, and TnBP showed obvious differences with measured data. According to filter-air partitioning estimated by pp-LFER, the strong adsorption of gaseous OPEs to glass fiber filter (GFF) may be responsible to the underestimation. Besides, the weak adsorption of gaseous OPEs to PUF is likely to be another important reason for the discrepancy between measured and modeled results. Therefore, the risk assessment of gaseous OPEs should be of concern in the further research.

Ischemia-reperfusion injury is an important contributor to acute kidney injury and a major factor affecting early functional recovery after kidney transplantation. We conducted this experiment to investigate the protective effect of induced multipotent stem cell transplantation on renal ischemia-reperfusion injury. Forty rabbits were divided into four groups of 10 rabbits each. Thirty rabbits were used to establish the renal ischemia-reperfusion injury model, and ten rabbits served as the model group and were not treated. Among the 30 rabbits with renal ischemia-reperfusion injury, 10 rabbits were treated with induced peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs), and 10 other rabbits were treated with noninduced PBMCs. After three weekly treatments, the serum creatinine levels, urea nitrogen levels and urine protein concentrations were quantified. The kidneys were stained with hematoxylin-eosin (HE), periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) and Masson's trichrome and then sent for commercial metabolomic testing. The kidneys of the rabbits in the model group showed different degrees of pathological changes, and the recovery of renal function was observed in the group treated with induced cells. The results indicate that PBMCs differentiate into multipotent stem cells after induction and exert a therapeutic effect on renal ischemia-reperfusion injury.

A model of allergic rhinitis (AR) in BALB/c mice was established and evaluated to provide experimental subjects for further research. Preparation of human umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (hUCMSCs), including isolation, expansion culture, passaging, cryopreservation, and preparation of cell suspensions, provided materials for experimental research and clinical treatment. The mouse AR model was established by ovalbumin (OVA) intraperitoneal injection and the nasal stimulation induction method, and the model had a good effect and high repeatability. GFP-labeled hUCMSCs had good effects and were stable cells that could be used for tracking in animals. Transplantation of hUCMSCs by intraperitoneal and tail vein injections had a specific effect on the AR model of mice, and tail vein injection had a better effect. Tracking of hUCMSCs in vivo showed that the three groups of mice had the greatest number of hUCMSCs in the nose at week 2. The mouse AR model was used to evaluate the efficacy of hUCMSC transplantation via multiple methods for AR. The distribution of hUCMSCs in vivo was tracked by detecting green fluorescent protein (GFP), and the treatment mechanism of hUCMSCs was elucidated. This study provides technical methods and a theoretical basis for the clinical application of hUCMSCs.

BACKGROUND: Gastrointestinal symptoms are not rare among coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients, but there have been no reports regarding convalescent plasma therapy for the recovery of gastrointestinal problems in COVID-19 patients. CASE PRESENTATION: We present two cases of patients with COVID-19-associated recurrent diarrhea and positive fecal occult blood who successfully recovered after a one-time convalescent plasma administration. CONCLUSION: When COVID-19 patients develop recurrent or refractory gastrointestinal symptoms and fail to respond to the available treatment, alternative therapy with convalescent plasma administration may be considered.

BACKGROUND: To study the effect of allogeneic umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cell transplantation on the structure and function of the thymus in aged C57 mice and provide a new method for the treatment of senile thymic atrophy. RESULTS: The changes in the thymus cortex and medulla volume and the lymphocyte ratio were analyzed by immunofluorescence. For thymus tissue sections, immunohistochemical staining was performed to detect p16, p53, SOD, becline1, LC3b, p62, sirt1, and sirt3. Changes in CK5, CK8, CD4 and CD8 expression were observed. Treatment with mUCMSCs could promote hair regeneration in aging mice and regenerate the thymus structure. CONCLUSIONS: mUCMSCs inhibited senescence of the thymus and promoted structural and functional thymus regeneration by downregulating the senescence genes p53 and p16 and upregulating the SOD, Sirt1 and Sirt3 genes, but the mechanism requires further research. METHODS: C57 mice were obtained and met the requirements of thymic aging. mUCMSCs were infused via the tail vein at a dose of 1×107 cells/kg twice per week for 3 weeks. Six weeks after the last transplantation, the thymus was weighed, and the thymus-to-body weight ratio was calculated. The thymus tissue was stained with HE.

Lung cancer is an significant cause of death worldwide, and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the most common type of lung cancer. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) have been identified to play key roles in NSCLC development. Recently, it has been reported that miR-605-5p is a cancer-related miRNA in several types of tumors. In this study, we study the role of miR-605-5p in NSCLC cells. We find that miR-605-5p is upregulated in NSCLC cells. Overexpression of miR-605-5p significantly promotes lung cancer invasion and migration in H460 and H1299 cells. Besides this, miR-605-5p also promotes lung cancer cell carcinoma proliferation and metastasis in vivo. However, downregulation of miR-605-5p inhibits cell invasion and migration by inhibiting lung cancer cell carcinoma proliferation and metastasis. In addition, the luciferase report assay identifies 3'-untranslated region tumor necrosis factor α-induced protein 3 (TNFAIP3) as a target of miR-605-5p. Silencing of TNFAIP3 promotes invasion and proliferation in lung cancer. In addition, the knockdown of TNFAIP3 restores the significant decrease in invasion and proliferation in miR-605-5p-inhibitor-transfected lung cancer cells. In conclusion, miR-605-5p promotes invasion and proliferation by targeting TNFAIP3 in NSCLC, and may provide possible biomarkers for NSCLC therapy.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is a persistent and chronic disease that is characterized by destructive gastrointestinal (GI) inflammation. Researchers are trying to identify and develop new and more effective treatments with no side effects. Acute and chronic mouse models of IBD were established using dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) solution. To evaluate the efficacy and mechanism, umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UCMSCs) were obtained from Kunming (KM) mice and humans. In the chronic IBD study, the survival rates of the normal control, model, mouse UCMSC (mUCMSC) and human UCMSC (hUCMSC) groups were 100%, 40%, 86.7%, and 100%, respectively. The histopathological scores of the normal control, intraperitoneal injection, intravenous treatment, and model groups were 0.5 ± 0.30, 5.9 ± 1.10, 8.7 ± 1.39, and 8.8 ± 1.33 (p = 0.021). UCMSCs promoted the expression of the intestinal tight junction protein occludin, downregulated the protein expression of the autophagy marker LC3A/B in colon tissue, and upregulated the expression of VEGF-A and VEGFR-1 at the injured site. This study provides an experimental model for elucidating the therapeutic effects of UCMSCs in IBD. We provide a theoretical basis and method for the clinical treatment of IBD using UCMSCs.

In this study, nine OPEs were measured in 60 street dust samples collected from the central province of Henan, China. The total concentrations of OPEs (∑9OPEs) in street dust range from 2.77 to 505 µg/kg (median 59.3 µg/kg). Chlorinated OPEs are dominant in street dust with median concentration of 33.5 µg/kg, followed by aryl OPEs (median 9.05 µg/kg), and alkyl OPEs (median 6.19 µg/kg). No significant correlations are found between ∑9OPEs and parameters, such as population (p = 0.931), population density (p = 0.602), car ownership (p = 0.618), and gross domestic product (p = 0.863). Principal component analysis (PCA) result reveals that road traffic could be a major source of OPEs in street dust because of their extensive use in various vehicles. The total average (median) and high-level exposure (95th percentile) of OPEs are 1.01 × 10-2, 7.17 × 10-2 ng/kg bw/d for adults and 6.03 × 10-2, 0.43 ng/kg bw/d for children, respectively. Hazard quotient (HQ) values are 5-6 orders of magnitude lower than the acceptable risk level (HQ < 0.1), indicating there is still a low risk to local residents at current levels.

Freely dissolved concentration is an important parameter for evaluating the bioavailability of compounds. Negligible-depletion solid-phase microextraction (nd-SPME) has been widely used for the determination of freely dissolved compounds but suffered from long equilibrium time. Multifunctional mesoporous composite microspheres have large specific surface area and therefore extraction equilibrium could be reached in a short time. In this study, a novel method was developed for quick determination of freely dissolved polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in human serum using core-shell polyacrylate-ferriferous oxide magnetic microspheres (Fe3O4@PA). Mass transfer of PAHs from sample solution to Fe3O4@PA was greatly increased owing to unique properties including large surface area (58.5 m2 g-1), high pore volume (0.10 cm3 g-1) and thin coating layer (50 nm). Freely dissolved PAHs can be selectively extracted because of the mesoporous structure of PA coating layer with uniform pore size of 7.08 nm. However, bound forms of PAHs would not be able to access into pore channels due to size exclusion. In comparison with long equilibration time (139 h) by nd-SPME, equilibrium can be reached within 29 min (t90%) using Fe3O4@PA as novel sorbents. The sorption coefficients (log KBSA) of PAHs to bull serum albumin (BSA) ranged from 3.36 to 4.87, which are consistent with the values measured by nd-SPME (log KBSA = 3.64-5.12). Finally, the freely dissolved PAHs (Cfree) measured by the proposed method (0.69-1.92 µg L-1) have a good agreement with that by nd-SPME (0.56-2.11 µg L-1), indicating that it is feasible for rapid determination of free forms of compounds in real samples by Fe3O4@PA.

The relationship between bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) and aging, as well as the antiaging effects of BMSCs, was observed. An aging macaque BMSC model was established. We isolated BMSCs from young and aged macaques and used RT-PCR and Western blot to confirm the aging-related mRNAs and their expression, revealing that TERT, SIRT1 and SIRT6 expression was decreased in the aged BMSCs. The morphology, immunophenotype, differentiation potential, proliferation potential, and antiaging effects of aged and young BMSCs on 293T cells were compared. The expression of aging-related genes and the difference between the secreted cytokines in natural aging and induced aging BMSCs were observed. The transcriptome of peripheral blood mononuclear cells from macaques was analyzed by high-throughput sequencing. Finally, the transcriptional characteristics and regulatory mechanisms of gene transcription in aging macaques were investigated.

Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cells (UC-MSCs) exert strong immunomodulatory effects and can repair organs. However, their roles in radiation injury remain unclear. We show that in tree shrews with acute radiation injury, injected UC-MSCs significantly improved survival rates, reduced lung inflammation and apoptosis, prevented pulmonary fibrotic processes, recovered hematopoiesis, and increased blood counts. A protein microarray analysis showed that serum levels of the anti-inflammatory cytokines IL-10 and IL-13 and the growth factors BMP-5, BMP-7, HGF, insulin, NT-4, VEGFR3, and SCF were significantly higher, while those of the inflammatory cytokines IL-2, TIMP-2, TNF-α, IFN-γ, IL-1ra, and IL-8 and the fibrosis-related factors PDGF-BB, PDGF-AA, TGF-ß1, IGFBP-2, and IGFBP-4 were significantly lower in UC-MSC-injected animals. A transcriptome analysis of PBMCs showed that the mRNA expression of C1q was upregulated, while that of HLA-DP was downregulated after UC-MSC injection. These results confirm the immunohistochemistry results. eGFP-labeled UC-MSCs were traced in vivo and found in the heart, liver, spleen, lungs, kidneys, thymus, small intestine and bone marrow. Our findings suggest that UC-MSC transplantation may be a novel therapeutic approach for treating acute radiation injury.
