At present, personal computers (PC) are most available multimedia devices and used in the design of medical complexes. A problem occurs while choosing a device PC interface. The paper considers a USB interface and the use of its based computer medical complexes. A lot of advantages provided by the new interface, low cost and high efficiency make it possible to design up-to-date devices having high consumer qualities.

[Construction of pulse oximeters based on sigma-delta transducers]. / Postroenie pul'sovykh oksimetrov na osnove sigma-del'ta-preobrazovatelei.

The method of continuously measuring arterial blood saturation (pulse oximetry) has been recently intensively developed. The paper proposes a new schematic design of pulse oximeters based on the current multiple-digit sigma-delta transducers which reduces expenses connected with device operation, simplifies the regimen and algorithms of control, increases the quality of data reading.

[The DICOM standard in computer-assisted medical technologies]. / Standart DICOM v komp'iuternykh meditsinskikh tekhnologiiakh.

The paper outlines one of the promising standards to transmit images in medicine, in radiology in particular. The essence of the standard DICOM is disclosed and promises of its introduction into computer-aided medical technologies.

[The prevalence of cryptosporidiosis among the city population of Russia and Belarus]. / Rasprostranenie kriptosporidioza sredi naseleniia nekotorykh gorodov Rossii i Belarusi.

A total of 248 adults (170 with somatic diseases and 78 with the diarrheal syndrome) and 1206 children (323 attending kindergartens, 231 with somatic diseases, and 652 with the diarrheal syndrome), residents of seven towns of Russia and Belarus, were examined for cryptosporidiosis in 1989-1992. The mean infection rate of children and adults with the diarrheal syndrome was 4.8 and 2.7%, respectively, of those with somatic diseases 2.6 and 0% respectively, and of healthy children 1.9%. Children living in the towns of Belarus, localized in the radiation contamination zone, were more frequently infected than children living in other towns. The towns of the European Russia and Belarus should be regarded as stable foci of cryptosporidiosis infection.

[The immune and nonspecific protective reactions of the skin in patients with allergic dermatoses of chemical etiology]. / Immunnye i nespetsificheskie zashchitnye reaktsii kozhi u bol'nykh allergicheskimi dermatozami khimicheskoi étiologii.

Eighteen patients with contact allergic dermatitis, 32 patients with eczema, 20 clinically healthy workers of a metallurgy plant with latent sensitization, and 133 normal subjects have been examined with the use of immunologic tests, contact biomicroscopy of the skin, and life-time microfluorometry of the skin. The immune system regulatory mechanism stress has been revealed in the workers with latent sensitization. Adaptation type shifts have been detected in the skin, aimed at the elimination of chemicals entering the skin.
