Fe-N-doped carbon nanomaterials (Fe-N/CMs) were designed as a novel biomimetic enzyme with excellent peroxidase-like activity to achieve high-efficient enzyme cascade catalytic amplification with the aid of glucose oxidase (GOx), which was further combined with target-induced DNA walker amplification to develop a sensitive electrochemical biosensor for thrombin detection. Impressively, massive output DNA was transformed from small amounts of target thrombin by highly effective DNA walker amplification as protein-converting strategy, which could then induce the immobilization of functionalized nanozyme on the electrode surface to achieve the high-efficient electrochemical biomimetic enzyme cascade amplification. As a result, an amplified enzyme cascade catalytic signal was measured for thrombin detection ranging from 0.01 pM to 1 nM with a low detection limit of 3 fM. Importantly, the new biomimetic enzyme cascade reaction coupled the advantages of natural enzyme and nanozyme, which paved an avenue to construct varied artificial multienzymes amplification systems for biosensing, bioanalysis, and disease diagnosis applications.

Renal transplantation has developed into the best treatment for end-stage renal disease, but severe cases can even lead to loss of renal allograft function due to rejection and complications caused by surgical procedures. If a series of postoperative complications can be reduced or even avoided, the quality of life of recipients will be significantly improved. Acute rejection in a transplanted kidney is one of the main complications after renal transplantation. Early detection and diagnosis will significantly help the prognosis of transplanted kidney patients. As a seminal morphological and hemodynamic examination method, ultrasound can monitor the tissue structure and arteriovenous blood flow of the transplanted kidney, providing information on the transplanted kidney's gross shape and blood perfusion. Ultrasound is a commonly used detection method after renal transplantation. At present, two-dimensional ultrasound, color Doppler ultrasound, three-dimensional ultrasound, and contrast-enhanced ultrasound have been applied in the monitoring of complications after renal transplantation. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound, as a non-invasive, radiation-free, and easy to perform examination technique, can qualitatively and quantitatively evaluate the microcirculatory blood perfusion of the transplanted kidney. It can reflect the function of the transplanted kidney more objectively and sensitively. In recent years, contrast-enhanced ultrasound has attracted attention as a new technology that can quantitatively monitor the transplanted kidney's microcirculation perfusion. A large number of studies have shown that contrast-enhanced ultrasound has unique advantages in monitoring acute rejection after renal transplantation compared with other imaging methods, providing a reliable basis for clinical intervention. This article reviews the current status of and recent research on contrast-enhanced ultrasound in acute rejection after renal transplantation.

Saturation effects limit the application of vegetation indices (VIs) in dense vegetation areas. The possibility to mitigate them by adopting a negative soil adjustment factor X is addressed. Two leaf area index (LAI) data sets are analyzed using the Google Earth Engine (GEE) for validation. The first one is derived from observations of MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) from 16 April 2013, to 21 October 2020, in the Apiacás area. Its corresponding VIs are calculated from a combination of Sentinel-2 and Landsat-8 surface reflectance products. The second one is a global LAI dataset with VIs calculated from Landsat-5 surface reflectance products. A linear regression model is applied to both datasets to evaluate four VIs that are commonly used to estimate LAI: normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), soil adjusted vegetation index (SAVI), transformed SAVI (TSAVI), and enhanced vegetation index (EVI). The optimal soil adjustment factor of SAVI for LAI estimation is determined using an exhaustive search. The Dickey-Fuller test indicates that the time series of LAI data are stable with a confidence level of 99%. The linear regression results stress significant saturation effects in all VIs. Finally, the exhaustive searching results show that a negative soil adjustment factor of SAVI can mitigate the SAVIs' saturation in the Apiacás area (i.e., X = -0.148 for mean LAI = 5.35), and more generally in areas with large LAI values (e.g., X = -0.183 for mean LAI = 6.72). Our study further confirms that the lower boundary of the soil adjustment factor can be negative and that using a negative soil adjustment factor improves the computation of time series of LAI.

Acute lung injury (ALI), with the hallmarks of vascular integrity disruption and neutrophil recruitment, is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Enhanced actomyosin assembly contributes to endothelial cell contact dysfunction. However, the roles and mechanisms of actomyosin assembly in ALI are not totally clear. We investigated the dynamic alterations and roles of actomyosin in ALI in vivo and in vitro models induced by LPS. Pulmonary levels of E-cadherin, vascular endothelial-cadherin, occludin, myosin phosphatase target subunit 1, and thymosin ß4 were decreased, and the number and activity of neutrophils and the levels of actomyosin, p-ρ-associated protein kinase, p-myosin light-chain kinase, and profilin1 were increased within 3 d after LPS administration, and then, those alterations were recovered within the next 4 d, which was consistent with the alterations of lung histology, vascular permeability, edema, and serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-α. Direct or indirect inhibition of increased F-actin or myosin assembly ameliorated the reduction of intercellular junction molecules, the activation and migration of neutrophils, and the degree of lung injury. Moreover, neutrophil activation further promoted actomyosin assembly and aggravated lung injury. Povidone-iodine (PVI) is principally used as an antimicrobial agent. It has been found that 0.5% PVI can attenuate congestion, edema and pain induced by pressure sores. Thus this study aimed to assess the effects of 0.5% PVI on acute skin wounds. Four full-thickness excisional wounds were generated on the dorsal skin of male Sprague-Dawley rats with a 10-mm sterile punch. Two wounds were left untreated and the other two were dressed with gauze with 0.5% PVI for 1 hour per day for the first 5 days after injury. 10-mm full-thickness excisional wounds were also generated on the dorsal skin of rats treated with 10 mg/kg SB431542 and all wounds were treated with 0.5% PVI for 5 days. PVI treatment enhanced wound healing via promotion of expression of α SMA and TGF ß, neovascularization and re-epithelialization. Interleukin 6 was reduced following PVI treatment. Inhibition of TGF ß abolished the effect of PVI treatment on wound closure. These data show that topical application of 0.5% PVI could promote acute skin wound healing though increased expression of TGF ß leading to enhanced formation of granulation tissue, even in the absence of obvious infection.

It is difficulties for the computer simulation method to study radiation regime at large-scale. Simplified coniferous model was investigated in the present study. It makes the computer simulation methods such as L-systems and radiosity-graphics combined method (RGM) more powerful in remote sensing of heterogeneous coniferous forests over a large-scale region. L-systems is applied to render 3-D coniferous forest scenarios, and RGM model was used to calculate BRF (bidirectional reflectance factor) in visible and near-infrared regions. Results in this study show that in most cases both agreed well. Meanwhile at a tree and forest level, the results are also good.
