RESUMO

The objective of the present study was to elucidate the role of respiratory viruses in etiology of acute rhinosinusitis (ARS) in the children and adolescents. We analysed the results of a microbiologial study of 50 aspirates from the paranasl sinuses. It was shown that acute rhinosinusitis had bacterial and viral-bacterial etiology in 8% and 24% of the cases respectively. In 42% of the cases the pathogen could not be identified by any of the methods used in the study.

RESUMO

The objective of the present study was to estimate the relevance and validity of the electroglottographic technique as a method for diagnostics of voice disorders in children. The authors analyse the normative data on the vocal disorders in the children obtained by electroglottography (EGT) and assess the value of this technique for the control of treatment of dysphonia of different etiology. It is shown that that dynamics of these findings (before and after the treatment including their comparison with age-related normative data) attains statistical significance . It is concluded that the results of EGT can be regarded as the important diagnostic criteria for the effectiveness and quality of the treatment of dysphonia of different origin in children.

RESUMO

The objective of the present work was to study voice disturbances in young children with gastroesophageal reflux disease. Diagnostic algorithm included direct transnasal examination of the larynx using an Olympus fibroscope (Japan), fibrogastroduodenoscopy, 24-hour potentiometry, biopsy of oesophageal mucosa, and acoustic analysis of the voice. A total of 26 children at the age from 8 months to 3 years with voice disturbances were examined, including 12 children below one year, 5 between 1 and 2 years, and 9 between 2 and 3 years. The main signs of laryngoesophageal reflux were dysphonia, oedema, hyperemia, and altered light reflex of mucous membrane of arytenoid cartilages, interarytenoid space, and vocal cords. It is concluded that voice disturbances are the most common symptoms of laryngoesophageal reflux in young children which necessitates the earliest possible endoscopic study of the larynx in all cases of dysphonia.

RESUMO

In screening examination of 202 young children attending kindergartens, acoustic impedance audiometry has detected children (44%) with hearing problems. Endoscopic examination of the nasopharynx demonstrated that conductive hypoacusis resulted from hypertrophy of adenoid vegetations of different degree and chronic adenoiditis. These data emphasize the role of active audiological examination of young children in detection and prophylaxis of acoustic disorders.

RESUMO

The article deals with respiratory allergic pathology in children with a focus on the course of different forms regarding anatomo-physiological changes of the growing organism, on laryngeal status and voice function. Difficulties of examination of the larynx in children especially in young children are described as well as methods of such examination. It is emphasized that children with different forms of respiratory allergic pathology need endoscopic ENT examination. Original clinical experience is analysed.
