RESUMO

Pathogens resistant to classical control strategies pose a significant threat to crop yield, with seeds being a major transmission route. Bacteriophages, viruses targeting bacteria, offer an environmentally sustainable biocontrol solution. In this study, we isolated and characterized two novel phages, Athelas and Alfirin, which infect Pseudomonas syringae and Agrobacterium fabrum, respectively, and included the recently published Pfeifenkraut phage infecting Xanthomonas translucens. Using a simple immersion method, phages coated onto seeds successfully lysed bacteria post air-drying. The seed coat mucilage (SCM), a polysaccharide-polymer matrix exuded by seeds, plays a critical role in phage binding. Seeds with removed mucilage formed five to 10 times less lysis zones compared to those with mucilage. The podovirus Athelas showed the highest mucilage dependency. Phages from the Autographiviridae family also depended on mucilage for seed adhesion. Comparative analysis of Arabidopsis SCM mutants suggested the diffusible cellulose as a key component for phage binding. Long-term activity tests demonstrated high phage stability on seed surfaces and significantly increasing seedling survival rates in the presence of pathogens. Using non-virulent host strains enhanced phage presence on seeds but also has potential limitations. These findings highlight phage-based interventions as promising, sustainable strategies for combating pathogen resistance and improving crop yield.

Automated high-throughput plant phenotyping (HTPP) enables non-invasive, fast and standardized evaluations of a large number of plants for size, development, and certain physiological variables. Many research groups recognize the potential of HTPP and have made significant investments in HTPP infrastructure, or are considering doing so. To make optimal use of limited resources, it is important to plan and use these facilities prudently and to interpret the results carefully. Here we present a number of points that users should consider before purchasing, building or utilizing such equipment. They relate to (1) the financial and time investment for acquisition, operation, and maintenance, (2) the constraints associated with such machines in terms of flexibility and growth conditions, (3) the pros and cons of frequent non-destructive measurements, (4) the level of information provided by proxy traits, and (5) the utilization of calibration curves. Using data from an Arabidopsis experiment, we demonstrate how diurnal changes in leaf angle can impact plant size estimates from top-view cameras, causing deviations of more than 20% over the day. Growth analysis data from another rosette species showed that there was a curvilinear relationship between total and projected leaf area. Neglecting this curvilinearity resulted in linear calibration curves that, although having a high r2 (> 0.92), also exhibited large relative errors. Another important consideration we discussed is the frequency at which calibration curves need to be generated and whether different treatments, seasons, or genotypes require distinct calibration curves. In conclusion, HTPP systems have become a valuable addition to the toolbox of plant biologists, provided that these systems are tailored to the research questions of interest, and users are aware of both the possible pitfalls and potential involved.

Mission-oriented governance of research focuses on inspirational, yet attainable goals and targets the sustainable development goals through innovation pathways. We disentangle its implications for plant breeding research and thus impacting the sustainability transformation of agricultural systems, as it requires improved crop varieties and management practices. Speedy success in plant breeding is vital to lower the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, increase crop resilience to climate stresses and reduce postharvest losses. A key question is how this success may come about? So far plant breeding research has ignored wider social systems feedbacks, but governance also failed to deliver a set of systemic breeding goals providing directionality and organization to research policy of the same. To address these challenges, we propose a heuristic illustrating the core elements needed for governing plant breeding research: Genetics, Environment, Management and Social system (GxExMxS) are the core elements for defining directions for future breeding. We illustrate this based on historic cases in context of current developments in plant phenotyping technologies and derive implications for governing research infrastructures and breeding programs. As part of mission-oriented governance we deem long-term investments into human resources and experimental set-ups for agricultural systems necessary to ensure a symbiotic relationship for private and public breeding actors and recommend fostering collaboration between social and natural sciences for working towards transdisciplinary collaboration.

Pseudomonas spp. make up 1.6% of the bacteria in the soil and are found throughout the world. More than 140 species of this genus have been identified, some beneficial to the plant. Several species in the family Pseudomonadaceae, including Azotobacter vinelandii AvOP, Pseudomonas stutzeri A1501, Pseudomonas stutzeri DSM4166, Pseudomonas szotifigens 6HT33bT, and Pseudomonas sp. strain K1 can fix nitrogen from the air. The genes required for these reactions are organized in a nitrogen fixation island, obtained via horizontal gene transfer from Klebsiella pneumoniae, Pseudomonas stutzeri, and Azotobacter vinelandii. Today, this island is conserved in Pseudomonas spp. from different geographical locations, which, in turn, have evolved to deal with different geo-climatic conditions. Here, we summarize the molecular mechanisms behind Pseudomonas-driven plant growth promotion, with particular focus on improving plant performance at limiting nitrogen (N) and improving plant N content. We describe Pseudomonas-plant interaction strategies in the soil, noting that the mechanisms of denitrification, ammonification, and secondary metabolite signaling are only marginally explored. Plant growth promotion is dependent on the abiotic conditions and differs at sufficient and deficient N. The molecular controls behind different plant responses are not fully elucidated. We suggest that superposition of transcriptome, proteome, and metabolome data and their integration with plant phenotype development through time will help fill these gaps. The genus of Xanthomonas contains many well-known plant pathogens with the ability to infect some of the most important crop plants, thereby causing significant economic damage. Unfortunately, classical pest-control strategies are neither particularly efficient nor sustainable and we are, therefore, in demand of alternatives. Here, we present the isolation and characterization of seven novel phages infecting the plant-pathogenic species Xanthomonas translucens and Xanthomonas campestris. Transmission electron microscopy revealed that all phages show a siphovirion morphology. The analysis of genome sequences and plaque morphologies are in agreement with a lytic lifestyle of the phages making them suitable candidates for biocontrol. Moreover, three of the isolated phages form the new genus "Shirevirus". All seven phages belong to four distinct clusters underpinning their phylogenetic diversity. Altogether, this study presents the first characterized isolates for the plant pathogen X. translucens and expands the number of available phages for plant biocontrol.

AIMS: New-onset atrial fibrillation (NOAF) is the most common complication after cardiac surgery, occurring in 25-50% of patients. It is associated with post-operative stroke, increased mortality, prolonged hospital length of stay, and higher treatment costs. Previous small observational studies have identified the left atrium as a source of the electrical rotors and foci maintaining NOAF, but confirmation by a large prospective clinical study is still missing. The aim of the proposed study is to investigate whether the source of NOAF lies in the left atrium. The correct identification of NOAF-maintaining structures in cardiac surgical patients might offer potential therapeutic targets for prophylactic perioperative ablation strategies. METHODS AND RESULTS: This is a prospective single-centre observational study of patients developing NOAF after cardiac surgery. The primary outcome is the description of NOAF-maintaining structures within the atria. Key secondary outcomes include overall mortality, intensive care unit length of stay, hospital-ventilator-free days, and proportion of persistent NOAF. In NOAF patients, the non-invasive electrophysiological mapping will be conducted using a 252-electrode electrocardiogram vest. After mapping, a low-dose computed tomography scan of the chest will be performed to integrate the electrophysiological mapping results into a 3D picture of the heart. The study will include approximately 570 patients, of whom 30% (n = 170) are expected to develop NOAF. Sample size calculation revealed that 157 NOAF patients are necessary to assess the primary outcome. Patients will be tracked for a total of 5 years. CONCLUSIONS: This is the largest prospective study to date describing the electrophysiological mechanisms of NOAF using non-invasive mapping.

Legumes associate with root colonizing rhizobia that provide fixed nitrogen to its plant host in exchange for recently fixed carbon. There is a lack of understanding of how individual plants modulate carbon allocation to a nodulated root system as a dynamic response to abiotic stimuli. One reason is that most approaches are based on destructive sampling, making quantification of localised carbon allocation dynamics in the root system difficult. We established an experimental workflow for routinely using non-invasive Positron Emission Tomography (PET) to follow the allocation of leaf-supplied 11C tracer towards individual nodules in a three-dimensional (3D) root system of pea (Pisum sativum). Nitrate was used for triggering a reduction of biological nitrogen fixation (BNF), which was expected to rapidly affect carbon allocation dynamics in the root-nodule system. The nitrate treatment led to a decrease in 11C tracer allocation to nodules by 40% to 47% in 5 treated plants while the variation in control plants was less than 11%. The established experimental pipeline enabled for the first time that several plants could consistently be labelled and measured using 11C tracers in a PET approach to quantify C-allocation to individual nodules following a BNF reduction. Our study demonstrates the strength of using 11C tracers in a PET approach for non-invasive quantification of dynamic carbon allocation in several growing plants over several days. A major advantage of the approach is the possibility to investigate carbon dynamics in small regions of interest in a 3D system such as nodules in comparison to whole plant development.

Next-generation sequencing and metabolomics have become very cost and work efficient and are integrated into an ever-growing number of life science research projects. Typically, established software pipelines analyze raw data and produce quantitative data informing about gene expression or concentrations of metabolites. These results need to be visualized and further analyzed in order to support scientific hypothesis building and identification of underlying biological patterns. Some of these tools already exist, but require installation or manual programming. We developed "Gene Expression Plotter" (GXP), an RNAseq and Metabolomics data visualization and analysis tool entirely running in the user's web browser, thus not needing any custom installation, manual programming or uploading of confidential data to third party servers. Consequently, upon receiving the bioinformatic raw data analysis of RNAseq or other omics results, GXP immediately enables the user to interact with the data according to biological questions by performing knowledge-driven, in-depth data analyses and candidate identification via visualization and data exploration. Thereby, GXP can support and accelerate complex interdisciplinary omics projects and downstream analyses. GXP offers an easy way to publish data, plots, and analysis results either as a simple exported file or as a custom website. GXP is freely available on GitHub (see introduction).

OBJECTIVES: To evaluate whether the modified frozen elephant trunk (mFET) procedure provides comparable outcome compared with the standard approach for DeBakey type I aortic dissection. METHODS: From November 2008 to December 2018, 262 (mean age 62.7 ± 12.4 years) patients with acute DeBakey type I aortic dissection were included. mFET was performed in 100 (38.2%) patients and isolated ascending aorta and hemiarch replacement (iAoA) were performed in 162 (61.8%). Outcome analyses included in-hospital mortality, stroke rate, incidence of composite cardiovascular events, survival, freedom from aorta-related intervention, as well as freedom from neurologic event. Inverse probability of treatment weighting was applied. RESULTS: After inverse probability of treatment weighting, in-hospital mortality was greater in the iAoA group. The incidence of cardiac cause of death, new postoperative renal failure, as well as stroke rate were similar in both groups. The survival at 1 year, 3 years, and 4 years was 84%, 81%, and 77%, respectively, in the iAoA group and 91%, 86%, and 86%, P = .025, respectively, in the mFET group. Cause-specific HR for aortic reoperation 1.03 (confidence interval [CI], 0.43-2.48, P = .95) and neurovascular event 2.72 (CI, 0.62-11.93, P = .19) was similar in 2 groups. Subhazard ratio (sHR) for mortality as competing outcome for aorta-related reintervention sHR of 0.52 (CI, 0.32-0.86, P = .011) and neurologic event sHR of 0.45 (95% CI, 0.26-0.76, P = .003) was significantly lower in mFET. CONCLUSIONS: The mFET procedure as surgical treatment modality for DeBakey type I acute aortic dissection may be considered as viable alternative with beneficial mid-term outcome.

A 70-year-old female heart failure patient could not be weaned from temporary left ventricular mechanical support with Impella CP (Abiomed Inc, Danvers, MA) after myocardial infarction; therefore, she underwent left ventricular assist device implantation (HeartMate 3; Abbott, Chicago, IL). After uneventful surgery, the patient had an early postoperative thrombus in the aortic root, and surgical thrombectomy on extracorporeal circulation was performed on the seventh postoperative day. The patient recovered well and presented in good condition with no neurologic symptoms at the 6-month follow-up visit. Surgical excision of aortic root thrombus is a feasible option even for frail patients with a left ventricular assist device.


Après un infarctus du myocarde, une patiente de 70 ans présentant une insuffisance cardiaque n'a pas pu être sevrée d'une assistance mécanique temporaire pour le ventricule gauche par dispositif Impella CP (Abiomed Inc, Danvers, MA); elle a donc subi l'implantation d'un dispositif d'assistance ventriculaire gauche (HeartMate 3; Abbott, Chicago, IL). Après une intervention sans incident, la patiente a présenté un thrombus postopératoire précoce dans l'anneau aortique, et une thrombectomie chirurgicale sous circulation extracorporelle a été réalisée le septième jour suivant l'intervention. La patiente s'est bien rétablie et semblait en bonne santé, sans symptômes neurologiques, au moment de la visite de suivi six mois plus tard. L'excision chirurgicale du thrombus de l'anneau aortique est une option réaliste même chez les patients fragiles ayant un dispositif d'assistance ventriculaire gauche.

The shift from a petroleum-based to a more sustainable and bio-based economy requires the development of new refinery concepts to maintain the supply of raw materials and energy. For these novel and sustainable biorefinery concepts, it is important to use catalysts and solvents that are aligned with the principles of Green Chemistry. Therefore, the implementation of biogenic alternatives can be a promising solution. The lignocellulose pretreatment and fractionation process presented herein-OrganoCat-is an integrated fractionation of lignocellulose into its main components using biogenic acids such as 2,5-furandicarboxylic acid as catalyst. Hemicelluloses and other non-cellulosic polysaccharides are selectively depolymerized by the diluted acid and dissolved, while the crystalline cellulose remains in the solid pulp. In the presence of a second organic phase consisting of biogenic 2-methyltetrahydrofuran, disentangled lignin is extracted in situ. The process allows for the efficient fractionation of the three main components-lignin, cellulose, and non-cellulosic sugars. This helps to focus on the quality of the lignin, the improvement of enzymatic hydrolysis of the cellulose-enriched pulp, and the mild non-cellulosic sugar extraction with low degradation.

Mounting evidence indicates the key role of nitrogen (N) on diverse processes in plant, including development and defense. Using a combined transcriptomics and metabolomics approach, we studied the response of seedlings to N starvation of two different tetraploid wheat genotypes from the two main domesticated subspecies: emmer and durum wheat. We found that durum wheat exhibits broader and stronger response in comparison to emmer as seen from the expression pattern of both genes and metabolites and gene enrichment analysis. They showed major differences in the responses to N starvation for transcription factor families, emmer showed differential reduction in the levels of primary metabolites while durum wheat exhibited increased levels of most of them to N starvation. The correlation-based networks, including the differentially expressed genes and metabolites, revealed tighter regulation of metabolism in durum wheat in comparison to emmer. We also found that glutamate and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) had highest values of centrality in the metabolic correlation network, suggesting their critical role in the genotype-specific response to N starvation of emmer and durum wheat, respectively. Moreover, this finding indicates that there might be contrasting strategies associated to GABA and glutamate signaling modulating shoot vs. root growth in the two different wheat subspecies.

Water content (WC) and dry matter content (DMC) are some of the most basic parameters to describe plant growth and yield, but are exceptionally difficult to measure non-invasively. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) relaxometry may fill this methodological gap. It allows non-invasive detection of protons in liquids and solids, and on the basis of these measures, can be used to quantify liquid and dry matter contents of seeds and plants. Unfortunately, most existing NMR relaxometers are large, unwieldy and not suitable to measure intact plants or to be used under field conditions. In addition, currently the appropriate NMR relaxometric methods are poorly suited for non-expert use. We here present a novel approach to overcome these drawbacks. We demonstrate that a basic NMR relaxometer with the capability to accept intact plants, in combination with straightforward NMR and data processing methods, can be used as an NMR plant sensor to continuously, quantitatively and non-invasively monitor changes in WC and DMC. This can be done in vivo, in situ, and with high temporal resolution. The method is validated by showing that measured liquid and solid proton densities accurately reflect WC and DMC of reference samples. The NMR plant sensor is demonstrated in an experimental context by monitoring WC of rice leaves under osmotic stress, and by measuring the dynamics of water and dry matter accumulation during seed filling in a developing wheat ear. It is further demonstrated how the method can be used to estimate leaf water potential on the basis of changes in leaf water content.

BACKGROUND: The gold standard management of aortic dissection, a life-threatening condition, includes multidisciplinary approaches. Although mental distress following aortic dissection is common, evidence-based psychosocial interventions for aortic dissection survivors are lacking. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to identify the perceived psychosocial needs of aortic dissection survivors by surveying patients, their relatives, and health professionals to inform the development of such interventions. METHODS: This study used a cross-sectional survey and collected responses from 41 participants (27 patients with aortic dissection, 8 relatives of patients with aortic dissection, and 6 health professionals) on key topics, types of interventions, best timing, anticipated success, and the intended effects and side effects of psychosocial interventions after aortic dissection. RESULTS: The principal intervention topics were "changes in everyday life" (28/41, 68%, 95% CI 54.5%-82.9%), "anxiety" (25/41, 61%, 95% CI 46.2%-76.2%), "uncertainty" (24/41, 59%, 95% CI 42.9%-73.2%), "tension/distress" (24/41, 59%, 95% CI 43.9%-73.8%), and "trust in the body" (21/41, 51%, 95% CI 35.9%-67.5%). The most commonly indicated intervention types were "family/relative therapy" (21/41, 51%, 95% CI 35%-65.9%) and "anxiety treatment" (21/41, 51%, 95% CI 35%-67.5%). The most recommended intervention timing was "during inpatient rehabilitation" (26/41, 63%, 95% CI 47.6%-77.5%) followed by "shortly after inpatient rehabilitation" (20/41, 49%, 95% CI 32.4%-65%). More than 95% (39/41) of respondents anticipated a benefit from psychosocial interventions following aortic dissection dissection, expecting a probable improvement in 68.6% (95% CI 61.4%-76.2%) of aortic dissection survivors, a worse outcome for 5% (95% CI 2.9%-7.9%), and that 6% (95% CI 1.8%-10.4%) would have negative side effects due to such interventions. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings highlight a substantial need for psychosocial interventions in aortic dissection survivors and indicate that such interventions would be a success. They provide a basis for the development and evaluation of interventions as part of state-of-the-art aortic dissection management.

Algae have evolved several mechanisms to adjust to changing environmental conditions. To separate from their surroundings, algal cell membranes form a hydrophobic barrier that is critical for life. Thus, it is important to maintain or adjust the physical and biochemical properties of cell membranes which are exposed to environmental factors. Especially glycerolipids of thylakoid membranes, the site of photosynthesis and photoprotection within chloroplasts, are affected by different light conditions. Since little is known about membrane lipid remodeling upon different light treatments, we examined light induced alterations in the glycerolipid composition of the two Chlorella species, C. vulgaris and C. sorokiniana, which differ strongly in their ability to cope with different light intensities. Lipidomic analysis and isotopic labeling experiments revealed differences in the composition of their galactolipid species, although both species likely utilize galactolipid precursors originated from the endoplasmic reticulum. However, in silico research of de novo sequenced genomes and ortholog mapping of proteins putatively involved in lipid metabolism showed largely conserved lipid biosynthesis pathways suggesting species specific lipid remodeling mechanisms, which possibly have an impact on the response to different light conditions.

BACKGROUND: Root system architecture and especially its plasticity in acclimation to variable environments play a crucial role in the ability of plants to explore and acquire efficiently soil resources and ensure plant productivity. Non-destructive measurement methods are indispensable to quantify dynamic growth traits. For closing the phenotyping gap, we have developed an automated phenotyping platform, GrowScreen-Agar, for non-destructive characterization of root and shoot traits of plants grown in transparent agar medium. RESULTS: The phenotyping system is capable to phenotype root systems and correlate them to whole plant development of up to 280 Arabidopsis plants within 15 min. The potential of the platform has been demonstrated by quantifying phenotypic differences within 78 Arabidopsis accessions from the 1001 genomes project. The chosen concept 'plant-to-sensor' is based on transporting plants to the imaging position, which allows for flexible experimental size and design. As transporting causes mechanical vibrations of plants, we have validated that daily imaging, and consequently, moving plants has negligible influence on plant development. Plants are cultivated in square Petri dishes modified to allow the shoot to grow in the ambient air while the roots grow inside the Petri dish filled with agar. Because it is common practice in the scientific community to grow Arabidopsis plants completely enclosed in Petri dishes, we compared development of plants that had the shoot inside with that of plants that had the shoot outside the plate. Roots of plants grown completely inside the Petri dish grew 58% slower, produced a 1.8 times higher lateral root density and showed an etiolated shoot whereas plants whose shoot grew outside the plate formed a rosette. In addition, the setup with the shoot growing outside the plate offers the unique option to accurately measure both, leaf and root traits, non-destructively, and treat roots and shoots separately. CONCLUSIONS: Because the GrowScreen-Agar system can be moved from one growth chamber to another, plants can be phenotyped under a wide range of environmental conditions including future climate scenarios. In combination with a measurement throughput enabling phenotyping a large set of mutants or accessions, the platform will contribute to the identification of key genes.

INTRODUCTION: Mid-term data from a single centre showed the safety and durability of aortic valve neocuspidization using autologous pericardium (OZAKI procedure). Since validation data from other centres are missing, aim of this study was to analyze echocardiographic and clinical results of our first patients that were operated with the OZAKI technique. METHODS: Thirty-five patients (24 males, median (IQR) age 72.0 (59.0, 76.0) years) with aortic stenosis (AS; n = 10), aortic insufficiency (AR; n = 13) or a combination of both (AS/AR; n = 12), underwent aortic valve neocuspidization in our institution between September 2015 and May 2017. Echocardiographic follow-up was performed using a standardized examination protocol. RESULTS: Clinical follow-up was completed in 97% of the patients. Median (IQR) follow-up time was 645 (430, 813) days. Mortality rate was 9% (n = 1: aspiration pneumonia; n = 1: unknown; n = 1: anaphylactic shock), and the reoperation rate was 3% (n = 1: endocarditis). No pacemaker implantation was necessary after isolated OZAKI procedures. Echocardiographic follow-up was performed in 83% of the patients (n = 29; median (IQR) time 664 (497, 815) days). Median (IQR) mean and peak gradients were 6 (5,9) mmHg and 12 (8, 17) mmHg. Moderate aortic regurgitation was seen in 2 patients (7%). No severe aortic regurgitation or moderate or severe aortic stenosis occurred within the follow-up period. CONCLUSIONS: The OZAKI procedure is reliable and reoperation due to structural valve deterioration nil within a median 645 days follow-up period. The low rate of moderate aortic regurgitation will be surveilled very closely. Further studies are required to evaluate the significance of this procedure in aortic valve surgery. RESUMO

Plant phenotyping enables noninvasive quantification of plant structure and function and interactions with environments. High-capacity phenotyping reaches hitherto inaccessible phenotypic characteristics. Diverse, challenging, and valuable applications of phenotyping have originated among scientists, prebreeders, and breeders as they study the phenotypic diversity of genetic resources and apply increasingly complex traits to crop improvement. Noninvasive technologies are used to analyze experimental and breeding populations. We cover the most recent research in controlled-environment and field phenotyping for seed, shoot, and root traits. Select field phenotyping technologies have become state of the art and show promise for speeding up the breeding process in early generations. We highlight the technologies behind the rapid advances in proximal and remote sensing of plants in fields. We conclude by discussing the new disciplines working with the phenotyping community: data science, to address the challenge of generating FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reusable) data, and robotics, to apply phenotyping directly on farms.

OBJECTIVES: The aim was to evaluate the impact of a modified frozen elephant trunk procedure (mFET) on remodeling of the downstream aorta following acute aortic dissections. METHODS: Over a period of 8 years, 205 patients (mean age 62.6 ± 12.6 years) underwent a mFET (n = 69, 33.7%) or isolated ascending aorta replacement (n = 136, 66.3%) (iAoA). Aortic diameter was assessed at the aortic arch (AoA), at the mid of the thoracic aorta (mThA), at the thoracoabdominal transition (ThAbd) and at the celiac trunk level (AbdA). RESULTS: Mean follow-up was 3.3 ± 2.6 years. In-hospital mortality was 14% (n = 28), 7% in mFET and 17% in the iAoA group (p = 0.08). At the end of the follow-up, overall survival was 84% (95% CI 70-92%) and 75% (65-82%) and freedom from aorta-related reoperation was 100% and 95% (88-98%) for mFET and iAoA, respectively. At iAoA, the average difference in diameter change per year between mFET and iAoA was for total lumen 0 mm (- 0.95 to 0.94 mm, p = 0.99), and for true lumen, it was 1.23 mm (- 0.09 to 2.55 mm) per year, p = 0.067. False lumen demonstrated a decrease in diameter in mFET as compared to iAoA by - 1.43 mm (- 2.75 to - 0.11 mm), p = 0.034. In mFET, at the aortic arch level the total lumen diameter decreased from 30.7 ± 4.8 mm to 30.1 ± 2.5 mm (Δr + 2.90 ± 3.64 mm) and in iAoA it increased from 31.8 ± 4.9 to 34.6 ± 5.9 mm (Δr + 2.88 ± 4.18 mm). CONCLUSION: The mFET procedure provides satisfactory clinical outcome at short term and mid-term and has a positive impact on aorta remodeling, especially at the level of the aortic arch.
