RESUMO

Hyperspectral anomaly detection (HAD), a challenging inverse problem, has found numerous scientific applications. Although extant HAD algorithms have achieved remarkable results, there are still several issues remained unresolved: 1) low spatial resolution (and spectral redundancy) in typical hyperspectral images prevents effectively distinguishing the abnormal pixels from those normal ones and 2) the reconstruction from existing residual-based frameworks would not completely remove anomaly effects, making the detection solely from the residual impractical. In this article, we propose a novel HAD method, termed transformer-guided fractional attention within the abundance domain (TGFA-AD), which substitutes raw input image with the abundance matrix obtained via blind source separation (BSS). First, the proposed abundance spatial-channel reconstruction transformer (ASCR-Former) is customized for rebuilding the abundance matrix. According to the image self-similarity, the abundance is patch-wisely encoded with class (CLS) tokens. The transformer encoders intensify the spatial and channel characteristics between tokens for reconstructing the abundance, followed by deriving the initial detection from the abundance residual matrix. Second, a novel fractional abundance attention (FAA) mechanism is proposed, where the attention weights coming from a specific linear combination of abundances are guided by the initial detection with convex [Formula: see text] -quadratic norm. Finally, the fractional convolution is incorporated to fuse the abundance and residual into the fractional feature for yielding the final detection result. Real data experiments quantitatively and qualitatively exhibit the state-of-the-art performance of TGFA-AD.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Emotional urgency, defined as a trait concept of emotion-based impulsivity, is at least moderately associated with general psychopathology. However, its clinical significance and associations with clinically relevant features of bipolar disorder remain unclear. This scoping review aims address this gap by determining the extent of evidence in this niche scope of study. METHODS: Evidence of between-group differences of positive and negative urgency, its associations with mood severity, and all peripheral associations related to illness and psychosocial outcomes were synthesized based on PRISMA checklists and guidelines for scoping reviews (PRISMA-ScR). DESIGN: Electronic databases were searched for articles published between January 2001 and January 2024. A total of 1013 entries were gathered, and a total of 10 articles were included in the final selection after the removal of duplicates and ineligible articles. RESULTS: Differences in urgency scores between bipolar disorder and healthy controls were large (Cohen's d ranged from 1.77 to 2.20). Negative urgency was at least moderately associated with overall trauma, emotional abuse, neglect, suicide ideation, neuroticism, and irritable/cyclothymic temperament, whereas positive urgency was at least moderately associated with various aspects of aggression and quality of life. Positive but not negative urgency was associated with quality of life in bipolar disorder. CONCLUSION: Large between-group differences found for emotional urgency in bipolar disorder imply large clinical significance. Emotional urgency was associated with worse clinical features and outcomes. Given the high clinical heterogeneity of the disorder, emotional urgency may be an important phenotype indicative of greater disorder severity.

RESUMO

Filial piety is viewed as strong family support for older Chinese people, and strongly associated with depressive symptoms. It is unknown if there exists gender difference in the mediation effects of filial piety on the relationship between chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (manifested as lung function) and depression. We investigated whether filial piety mediates the association between lung function and depression in community-dwelling older men and women using the Healthy Aging Longitudinal Study in Taiwan (HALST). Community dwelling adults aged 65 and above were analyzed. Pulmonary function, depressive symptoms, and filial piety expectation (FPE) and receipt of filial piety (RFP) were collected. The interaction and mediation of filial piety between lung function and depression was analyzed. We found that in older men, forced expiratory volume in the first second (FEV1) was inversely correlated with depression (ß = -0.1281, p = 0.004) with no mediation effect of FPE. In older women, FEV1 was negatively associated with FPE, but FPE did not increase the risk of depression (ß = 0.0605, p = 0.12). In both older men and women, FEV1 was negatively associated with RFP, while RFP reduced the risk of depression (p< 0.001). In older women, the correlation between FEV1 was complete mediation of RFP. Results indicate that feelings of insufficient filial piety may increase the likelihood of depression, especially in elderly women with worse lung function. Although modest, the main mediation effect of filial piety was improvement of lung function in older subjects, which might decrease depression.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Migration is a strategy that shifts insects to more favorable habitats in response to deteriorating local environmental conditions. The ecological factors that govern insect migration are poorly understood for many species. Plutella xylostella causes great losses in Brassica vegetable and oilseed crops, and undergoes mass migration. However, the physiological and behavioral basis for distinguishing migratory individuals and the factors driving its migration remain unclear. RESULTS: Daily light trap catches conducted from April to July in a field population of P. xylostella in central China revealed a sharp decline in abundance from late-May. Analysis of ovarian development levels showed that the proportion of sexually immature females gradually increased, while the mating rate decreased, indicating that generations occurring in May mainly resulted from local breeding and that emigration began in late-May. Physiological and behavioral analyses revealed that emigrant populations had a higher take-off proportion, stronger flight capacity and greater energy reserves of triglyceride compared to residents. Furthermore, a gradual increase in temperature from 24 °C to >30 °C during larval development resulted in a significant delay in oogenesis and increased take-off propensity of adults compared with the control treatment reared at a constant temperature of 24 °C. CONCLUSION: Our results provide the physiological and behavioral factors that underpin mass migration in P. xylostella, and demonstrate that exposure to increased temperature increases their migration propensity at the cost of reproductive output. This study sheds light on understanding the factors that influence population dynamics, migratory propensity and reproductive tradeoffs in migratory insects. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

RESUMO

Crude electronic waste (e-waste) recycling has been banned due to the serious environmental pollution it caused, leaving many abandoned e-waste sites. However, information on the current levels and associated ecological risks of e-waste-derived contaminants such as polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) in e-waste site is limited. Wild fish, because they can accumulate high pollutant levels, are suitable indicators for environmental pollution monitoring and has been widely employed as biomonitoring. In this study, we investigated the changes in the levels and profiles of PCBs in a wild fish species, the northern snakehead (Channa argus), before (2009) and after (2016) the ban of crude e-waste recycling from a typical e-waste recycling site in South China. The mean total PCB concentration in the northern snakehead sampled in 2016 (343 ng/g ww) declined by 75% compared with that (1410 ng/g ww) in 2009. The contributions of less chlorinated congeners (tri-CBs and tetra-CBs) in the northern snakehead tended to decrease over the years, indicating that the lighter congeners are more easily eliminated than the heavier ones in the environment. Our findings suggested no fresh PCB input in these years, as well as the positive impacts of laws and regulations on the prohibition of e-waste recycling. The ecological risk assessment suggested that PCB exposure may have median to high risks to the wild fish and fish-eating wildlife that inhabit the e-waste site, even after the ban of crude e-waste recycling activities.

RESUMO

Background: Studies comparing insight toward illness in patients with bipolar I disorder manic episode and in patients with major depressive disorder are scarce. The aim of this study was to investigate the attitudes and insight of patients with bipolar I disorder in manic episode and in patients with major depressive disorder. Methods: In total, 86 patients were recruited, including 52 inpatients with bipolar I disorder in manic episodes and 34 inpatients with major depressive disorder. Attitudes toward illness were evaluated using the Self-Appraisal of Illness Questionnaire. Higher Self-Appraisal of Illness Questionnaire scores indicate better awareness and positive attitudes toward one's illness. Insights were assessed using the Insight Scale for Affective Disorders. Higher scores indicate poorer insight. To identify group differences, we used Mann-Whitney U test for statistical analysis. Results: In the Self-Appraisal of Illness Questionnaire, items 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 10, 15, and 17 showed significantly lower scores in patients with bipolar I disorder than those with major depressive disorder (P < .05). All 3 subscales (presence/outcome of illness, need for treatment, and worry) of the Self-Appraisal of Illness Questionnaire revealed significantly lower scores in the bipolar I disorder group (P < .05). In the Insight Scale for Affective Disorders, items 3, 4, 12, and 16 showed significantly higher scores in the bipolar I disorder group (P < .05). Conclusion: Patients with major depressive disorder had significantly more positive attitudes and greater insight than those with bipolar I disorder. Patients with bipolar I disorder are less aware of their symptoms, including changes in mood, speed of mental functioning, and social relationships. The clinicians may integrate the findings into treatment plans for mood disorders.

RESUMO

Objective: The impact of the mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) program on psychological outcomes and quality of life (QoL) in lung cancer patients remains unclear. This meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of the MBSR program on psychological states and QoL in lung cancer patients. Methods: Eligible studies published before November 2021 were systematically searched from PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, PsycINFO, China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), and Wanfang databases. The risk of bias in eligible studies was assessed using the Cochrane tool. Psychological variables and QoL were evaluated as outcomes. We used the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development and Evaluation (GRADE) system to grade the levels of evidence. Statistical analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.4 and STATA 14.0. Results: A total of 17 studies involving 1,680 patients were included for meta-analysis eventually. MBSR program significantly relieved cancer-related fatigue (standard mean difference [SMD], -1.26; 95% confidence interval [CI], -1.69 to -0.82; moderate evidence) and negative psychological states (SMD, -1.35; 95% CI, -1.69 to -1.02; low evidence), enhanced positive psychological states (SMD, 0.91; 95% CI, 0.56-1.27; moderate evidence), and improved quality of sleep (MD, -2.79; 95% CI, -3.03 to -2.56; high evidence). Evidence on MBSR programs' overall treatment effect for QoL revealed a trend toward statistical significance (p = 0.06, low evidence). Conclusion: Based on our findings, the MBSR program shows positive effects on psychological states in lung cancer patients. This approach should be recommended as a part of the rehabilitation program for lung cancer patients. RESUMO

As elderly people increasingly come to represent a higher proportion of the world's population, various forms of dementia are becoming a significant chronic disease burden. The World Health Organization emphasizes dementia care as a public health priority and calls for more support for family caregivers who commonly play a significant, central role in dementia care. Taking care of someone with dementia is a long-term responsibility that can be stressful and may lead to depression among family caregivers. Depression and related behavioral and cognitive changes among caregivers could in turn affect the status and prognosis of the dementia patient. This review article explores depression in dementia caregivers and summarizes proposed mechanisms, associated factors, management and research findings, and proposes future research directions.

RESUMO

Ammonia is considered to be a neurotoxin that affects various physiological pathways, including energy metabolism, mitochondria function, and inflammatory response. Dysfunctions of these pathways contribute to the development of cognitive and executive function impairments. A case of a 67-year-old female patient who presented with unusual features of delirium after spine surgery was reported in this study. The patient initially developed acute hepatitis, and 3 weeks later, liver functions gradually improved. However, the acute onset of cognitive impairment and mild hyperammonemia was found. The patient mainly presented with cognitive deficits and impairment of executive functions without a fluctuating course. Her cognitive impairment was resolved when the serum ammonia level returned to the normal range. Consequently, we considered the diagnosis for this patient was delirium rather than a major neurocognitive disorder (dementia). Thus, the clinical diagnosis for delirium and etiologies are discussed.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the clinical effects of the L-carnitine-astaxanthin compound nutrients Menglankang (MLK) on idiopathic oligospermia (OS) and asthenospermia (AS). METHODS: This study included 73 cases of OS and 220 cases of AS treated with MLK once a bag, bid, for 3 successive months. Before and at 1, 2 and 3 months after treatment, we obtained and analyzed the semen parameters and sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) of the patients. RESULTS: Compared with the baseline, the OS patients showed remarkable increases after 1 and 2 months of treatment in the semen volume (ï¼»3.07 ± 1.47ï¼½ vs ï¼»3.26 ± 1.26ï¼½ and ï¼»3.30 ± 1.28ï¼½ ml), sperm concentration (ï¼»10.96 ± 6.09ï¼½ vs ï¼»16.74 ± 11.15ï¼½ and ï¼»17.56 ± 9.92ï¼½ ×106/ml, P < 0.05), total sperm count (ï¼»29.78 ± 17.48ï¼½ vs ï¼»52.98 ± 32.07ï¼½ and ï¼»57.67 ± 36.98ï¼½ ×106, P < 0.05) and the percentages of progressively motile sperm (PMS) (ï¼»39.8 ± 11.66ï¼½% vs ï¼»45.3 ± 14.03ï¼½% and ï¼»46.42 ± 10.69ï¼½%, P < 0.05) and morphologically normal sperm (MNS) (ï¼»1.71 ± 1.07ï¼½% vs ï¼»1.79 ± 0.91ï¼½% and ï¼»1.84 ± 0.96ï¼½%), and so did the AS patients in PMS (ï¼»19.23 ± 8.32ï¼½% vs ï¼»25.46 ± 13.86ï¼½% and ï¼»27.33 ± 12.88ï¼½%, P < 0.05). After 3 months of medication, the OS patients exhibited even more significant increases in the semen volume (ï¼»3.63 ± 1.39ï¼½ ml) (P < 0.05), sperm concentration (ï¼»20.56 ± 14.7ï¼½ ×106/ml) (P < 0.05), total sperm count (ï¼»66.35 ± 55.91ï¼½ ×106) (P < 0.05), PMS (ï¼»49.24 ± 13.45ï¼½%) (P < 0.05) and MNS (ï¼»2.59 ± 0.93ï¼½%) (P < 0.05), and so did the AS patients in the semen volume (ï¼»3.27 ± 1.42ï¼½ vs ï¼»3.85 ± 1.59ï¼½ ml, P < 0.05), PMS (ï¼»29.11 ± 13.58ï¼½%) (P < 0.05) and NMS (ï¼»2.01 ± 1.14ï¼½% vs ï¼»2.57 ± 1.15ï¼½%, P < 0.05). In comparison with the baseline, the sperm DFI was not significantly improved at 1 month after treatment, but remarkably decreased at 2 and 3 months in the OS patients (ï¼»25.87 ± 13.76ï¼½% vs ï¼»18.66 ± 10.83ï¼½% and ï¼»16.48 ± 11.46ï¼½%, P < 0.05) and the AS patients as well (ï¼»26.40 ± 12.28ï¼½% vs ï¼»19.35 ± 11.54ï¼½% and ï¼»15.32 ± 10.89ï¼½%, P < 0.05). CONCLUSIONS: The L-carnitine-astaxanthin compound nutrients Menglankang can significantly improve the semen quality of the patients with idiopathic oligospermia or asthenospermia.

RESUMO

The beet armyworm Spodoptera exigua (Hübner) is a serious polyphagous pest that infests vegetable crops worldwide and has rapidly developed resistance due to its long-term exposure to insecticides. The current resistance statuses to four insecticides exhibited by three field populations of beet armyworms collected in southern China from 2014 to 2018 were investigated. Monitoring data from five consecutive years demonstrated that all three tested S. exigua populations developed extremely high resistance to chlorantraniliprole in 2018 (220.58- to 2,597.39-fold). Two populations (Baiyun and Fengxian) developed low to moderate resistance to spinosad, whereas the Huangpi population remained susceptible (except in 2014, with RR of 6.11-fold). The RR of the Fengxian and Baiyun populations to indoxacarb steadily increased over the years, whereas that of the Huangpi population increased relatively slowly. The Baiyun and Fengxian populations developed moderate to high resistance to indoxacarb and methoxyfenozide, whereas the Huangpi population exhibited susceptibility to low resistance (1.06- to 6.45-fold) to indoxacarb and susceptibility to moderate resistance (1.53- to 14.22-fold) to methoxyfenozide. These results suggest that chlorantraniliprole should not be employed to control this pest in southern China. Reduced use of indoxacarb and methoxyfenozide or the use of alternating insecticides with low levels of resistance is recommended. Spinosad remains an effective insecticide for the management of S. exigua. To avoid the rapid development of insecticide resistance, rotations of insecticides with low levels of resistance and different modes of action based on the resistance patterns of S. exigua should be performed in southern China.

RESUMO

Insects perceive dangerous or attractive chemicals in the environment (such as the presence of predators, food or mates) through their olfaction and gustation. This leads to host searching, mate finding and other behaviors that are critical for insect survival. These vital activities are mediated by many chemosensory receptor proteins, including odorant receptors (ORs), gustatory receptors (GRs) and ionotropic receptors (IRs). Trichogramma japonicum Ashmead (Hymenoptera: Trichogrammatidae) is a commonly used egg parasitoid for controlling lepidopteran pests in rice fields. To reveal the roles of its olfactory and gustatory systems in biological control, we systematically analyzed major chemosensory receptor genes from T. japonicum. Through transcriptomic analyses of male and female heads, we found that the differentially expressed genes (DEGs) were mainly related to chemosensory functions, and there were more chemosensory-related genes expressed in female heads than male heads, which may be related to the need for females to search for their hosts or sense male pheromone. Furthermore, we identified 66 chemosensory receptor genes, including 51 ORs, seven IRs and eight GRs, that were most closely relate to those of other hymenopteran species according to the results of both Blast best-hit and phylogenetic analyses. The tissue expression profile showed that 65 of the 66 chemosensory receptors were highly expressed in the heads, suggesting their putative roles in olfaction and gustation. In addition, the sex-specific expression patterns suggested their potential functions in host-seeking or mate sensing behaviors. This study may provide base for further understanding the olfactory and gustatory systems of T. japonicum and increasing its efficiency in pest control in the future.

RESUMO

HE 's tube acupuncture technique is developed on the base of the theories of zangfu, meridian and collateral by HE Hui-wu, the eminent master of traditional Chinese medicine in 1920s. It is a set of acupuncture technique, in which, the function of the traditional pressing hand is replaced by the needle tube and the seven skills and five manipulations are specially included. In this paper, the experience in the treatment of chronic gastritis with HE 's tube acupuncture technique was introduced. "Regulating the spleen function for the deficiency syndrome" and "taking the liver into the great consideration for the excess syndrome" are the basic principles of treatment. The specific manipulations are predominant, e.g. the conducting-qi manipulation, the sparrow-pecking manipulation, the rotating manipulation, the lifting-thrusting manipulation and the circling manipulation. Moreover, the unique needling techniques are adopted at Zhongwan (CV 12), Weishu (BL 21) and Yanglingquan (GB 34), etc.

RESUMO

CONTEXT/OBJECTIVE: Patients with chronic SCI hospitalized for UTI can have significant morbidity. It is unclear whether SIRS criteria, SOFA score, or quick SOFA score can be used to predict complicated outcome. DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study. A risk prediction model was developed and internally validated using bootstrapping methodology. SETTING: Urban, academic hospital in St. Louis, Missouri. PARTICIPANTS: 402 hospitalizations for UTI between October 1, 2010 and September 30, 2015, arising from 164 patients with chronic SCI, were included in the final analysis. Outcome/measures: An a priori composite complicated outcome defined as: 30-day hospital mortality, length of hospital stay >4 days, intensive care unit (ICU) admission, and hospital revisit within 30 days of discharge. RESULTS: Mean age of patients was 46.4 ± 12.3 years; 83.6% of patient-visits involved males. The primary outcome occurred in 278 (69.2%) hospitalizations. In multivariate analysis, male sex was protective (odds ratio [OR], 0.43; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.18-0.99; P = 0.048) while Gram-positive urine culture (OR 3.07; 95% CI, 1.05-9.01; P = 0.041), urine culture with no growth (OR, 1.69; 95% CI, 1.02-2.80; P = 0.041), and greater SOFA score (for one-point increments, OR, 1.41; 95% CI, 1.18-1.69; P < 0.001) were predictive for complicated outcome. SIRS criteria and qSOFA score were not associated with complicated outcome. Our risk prediction model demonstrated good overall performance (Brier score, 0.19), fair discriminatory power (c-index, 0.72), and good calibration during internal validation. CONCLUSION: Clinical variables present on hospital admission with UTI may help identify SCI patients at risk for complicated outcomes and inform future clinical decision-making.

RESUMO

Glioblastoma (GBM) stem cells (GSCs) reside in both hypoxic and vascular microenvironments within tumors. The molecular mechanisms that allow GSCs to occupy such contrasting niches are not understood. We used patient-derived GBM cultures to identify GSC subtypes with differential activation of Notch signaling, which co-exist in tumors but occupy distinct niches and match their metabolism accordingly. Multipotent GSCs with Notch pathway activation reside in perivascular niches, and are unable to entrain anaerobic glycolysis during hypoxia. In contrast, most CD133-expressing GSCs do not depend on canonical Notch signaling, populate tumors regardless of local vascularity and selectively utilize anaerobic glycolysis to expand in hypoxia. Ectopic activation of Notch signaling in CD133-expressing GSCs is sufficient to suppress anaerobic glycolysis and resistance to hypoxia. These findings demonstrate a novel role for Notch signaling in regulating GSC metabolism and suggest intratumoral GSC heterogeneity ensures metabolic adaptations to support tumor growth in diverse tumor microenvironments.

RESUMO

Performance analysis is an important way for hospitals to achieve higher efficiency and effectiveness in providing services to their customers. The performance of the healthcare system can be measured by many indicators, but it is difficult to improve them simultaneously due to the limited resources. A feasible way is to identify the central and influential indicators to improve healthcare performance in a stepwise manner. In this paper, we propose a hybrid multiple criteria decision making (MCDM) approach to identify key performance indicators (KPIs) for holistic hospital management. First, through integrating evidential reasoning approach and interval 2-tuple linguistic variables, various assessments of performance indicators provided by healthcare experts are modeled. Then, the decision making trial and evaluation laboratory (DEMATEL) technique is adopted to build an interactive network and visualize the causal relationships between the performance indicators. Finally, an empirical case study is provided to demonstrate the proposed approach for improving the efficiency of healthcare management. The results show that "accidents/adverse events", "nosocomial infection", ''incidents/errors", "number of operations/procedures" are significant influential indicators. Also, the indicators of "length of stay", "bed occupancy" and "financial measures" play important roles in performance evaluation of the healthcare organization. The proposed decision making approach could be considered as a reference for healthcare administrators to enhance the performance of their healthcare institutions.

RESUMO

Abstract Background To better understand the trends of behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) over the disease progression is important to provide psychoeducation for dementia caregivers. Objective This study examined the severity and occurrence of BPSD across the various degrees of the disease. Methods This study was a cross-sectional design. Patients (N = 276) who had dementia from July 2001 to October 2008 were surveyed and assessed for dementia stage, using the clinical dementia rating scale (CDR). BPSD was evaluated using the Neuropsychiatric Inventory (NPI). We examined the differences between the severities and occurrence of the individual's BPSD among various CDR stages with the Kruskal-Wallis test and Chi-square test. Results Delusion (p = 0.01), agitation/aggression (p = 0.033), apathy/indifference (p = 0.009), aberrant motor behavior (p < 0.001), nighttime behavior disturbances (p < 0.001), and eating abnormalities (p = 0.001) were significantly different among stages of dementia. The severity of BPSD became exacerbated over the course of the disease, and was highest in moderate (CDR = 2) or severe (CDR = 3) dementia. The occurrence of BPSD was highest when the CDR equaled 2 (97.5%). Discussion The association of global (or certain) BPSD, across different stages of dementia, is a non-linear relationship. These findings suggest the importance of taking into account clinical dementia stage for managing BPSD.

RESUMO

The green peach aphid, Myzus persicae Sulzer (Hemiptera: Aphididae), is an important sap-sucking pest of many crops, including Chinese cabbage, Brassinca oleracea L. The neonicotinoid insecticide thiamethoxam has been used as an effective insecticide to control M. persicae in cabbage fields. In this study, we assessed the effects of sublethal concentrations of thiamethoxam on demographic parameters of M. persicae. In leaf-dip bioassays, thiamethoxam showed a relatively high toxicity against M. persicae with an LC50 of 6.80 mg liter-1. The duration of the preadult stage was not significantly affected in the sublethal bioassay. Additionally, the longevity and adult preoviposition period were not significantly affected by sublethal thiamethoxam. However, sublethal thiamethoxam significantly increased fecundity (LC10) and prolonged the total preoviposition period (LC40). Consequently, the finite rate of increase (λ) and the intrinsic rate of increase (rm) of aphids exposed to the LC40 were significantly lower than those of control aphids, whereas the net reproductive rate (R0) was higher, and the generation time (T) and the population doubling time (DT) were longer in the treated group. Based on these results, hormesis was induced by sublethal thiamethoxam in M. persicae, with the population growth of M. persicae negatively affected at higher sublethal concentrations of thiamethoxam. Therefore, our study indicated that the possible effects of thiamethoxam on aphids require further study to develop optimized integrated pest management strategies.

RESUMO

Few antibiotic options exist for the management of infections due to vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE). We describe a case involving the safe and successful use of tedizolid, a new oxazolidinone, to treat VRE prosthetic joint infection.
