RESUMO
O presente estudo objetivou verificar a adesão e o conhecimento das discentes do curso de graduação, em enfermagem relacionado ao Exame Papanicolau. Para tanto, ancora-se num estudo exploratório de abordagem quantitativa, por conveniência, com 38 discentes do sexo feminino. Utilizou-se de questionário, disposto em duas seções e onze questões estruturadas. Dentre os resultados, observou-se que 60% compreendem a idade entre 17 a 23 anos; 71% discentes já foram submetidas ao exame Papanicolau. Das entrevistadas, 30% responderam que se deve realizar uma higiene íntima antes da realização do exame; 31% que não se deve ter relação sexual, pelo menos, três dias antes da realização do exame; 34% responderam que a mulher não deve estar no período fértil. Conclui-se que a maioria das discentes, conhecem o exame Papanicolau, todavia, nota-se incipiência no conhecimento acerca dos cuidados necessários para se realizar o exame, carecendo de uma educação mais efetiva, transformadora, enfim, dialógica e crítico-social, visando a minimizar as deficiências existentes, neste sentido.
This study verified the adherence and knowledge of students from the undergraduate Nursing course in relation to the Pap Test. An exploratory study using a quantitative approach for convenience, with 38 female students. The authors' own questionnaire was used, arranged in two sections and eleven structured questions. 60% of the subjects were aged 17-23 years; 71% of the students have already undergone the Pap test. Among the students, 30% answered that one should perform an intimate hygiene before the exam, 31% that they should not have sex at least three days before the exam, 34% said that women should not be in their fertile period. It is concluded that most students know about the Pap Test; however, it also revealed a deficiency in the knowledge necessary to perform the examination, lacking better training, with transforming powers, and lastly, dialogical and critical-social, in order to minimize the deficiencies in this regard.
