RESUMO

BACKGROUND: During a robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery, hand tremors in a surgeon's manipulation of the master manipulator can cause vibrations of the slave surgical instruments. METHODS: This letter addresses this problem by proposing an improved Enhanced Band-Limited Multiple Linear Fourier Combiner (E-BMFLC) algorithm for filtering the physiological tremor signals of a surgeon's hand. The proposed method uses the amplitude of the input signal to adapt the learning rate and a dense division of the combiner bands for the higher amplitude bands of the tremor signals. RESULTS: By using the proposed improved E-BMFLC algorithm, the compensation accuracy can be improved by 4.5%-8.9%, as well as a spatial position error of less than 1 mm. CONCLUSION: The results show that among all filtering methods, the improved E-BMFLC filtering method has the highest number of successful experiments and the lowest experimental time.

RESUMO

Dual-state emission (DSE) luminescent materials are a newly discovered category of luminescent materials that exhibit efficient light emission in multiple states, including dilute solutions, highly concentrated solutions, aggregated states and solid states. These materials effectively address the aggregation-caused quenching (ACQ) observed in traditional organic luminescent materials with large conjugated planes, as well as the limitations of aggregation-induced emission (AIE) materials, which typically do not emit light in dilute solutions. The design and development of DSE luminescent materials for organelle imaging applications has attracted considerable interest. In this context, this study presents the design and synthesis of a novel luminescent compound, DMSS-AM, characterised by intramolecular hydrogen bonding and a D-π-A structure. As a monophenyl luminescent material, DMSS-AM exhibits DSE properties with fluorescence quantum yields of 22.1% in solution and 14.0% in the solid state. In particular, it exhibits unique pH-responsive properties, facilitating the targeted detection of lysosomal pH changes. Confocal laser scanning microscopy imaging of cells demonstrated that DSE emitters at both low and high concentrations do not affect image quality for bio-imaging applications. This advance is expected to significantly broaden the applicability of DSE luminescent materials in future applications.

RESUMO

Minimally invasive surgery (MIS) is commonly used in some robotic-assisted surgery (RAS) systems. However, many RAS lack the strength and tactile sensation of surgical tools. Therefore, researchers have developed various force sensing techniques in robot-assisted minimally invasive surgery (RMIS). This paper provides a systematic classification and review of force sensing approaches in the field of RMIS, with a particular focus on direct and indirect force sensing. In this survey, the relevant literature on various sensing principles, haptic sensor design standards, and sensing technologies between 2000 and 2022 is reviewed. This survey can also serve as a roadmap for future developments by identifying the shortcomings of the field and discussing the emerging trends in force sensing methods.

RESUMO

Culm sheaths play an important role in supporting and protecting bamboo shoots during the growth and development period. The physiological and molecular functions of bamboo sheaths during the growth of bamboo shoots remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the morphological anatomy of culm sheaths, photosynthesis in sheath blades, storage and distribution of sugars, and the transcriptome of the sheath. Respiration in the base of the culm sheath was higher than that in the sheath blades; chloroplasts matured with the development of the sheath blades, the fluorescence efficiency Fv/Fm value increased from 0.3 to 0.82; and sucrose and hexose accumulated in the sheath blade and the culm sheath. The sucrose, glucose, and fructose contents of the middle sheath blades were 10.66, 5.73, and 8.84 mg/g FW, respectively. Starches accumulated in parenchymal cells close to vascular bundles. Genes related to the plant hormone signaling pathway and sugar catabolism were highly expressed in the culm sheath base. These findings provide a research basis for further understanding the possible role of bamboo sheaths in the growth and development of bamboo shoots.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Open surgical consoles widely employed in minimally invasive surgery have better ergonomics than closed consoles. To enhance surgical robots' ergonomics, operational efficiency, and safety, an effective master-slave motion alignment model should be established. METHODS: The kinematic model of the robot system based on laparoscopic camera coordinate system is built in the first place. Then, the relative pose between the operator's eyes and the display is measured by Tobii Eye Tracking Sensor and is subsequently used to improve the master-slave motion alignment model. RESULTS: Robot threading experiments are conducted by two doctors and three testers to verify the kinematic model. As a result, in contrast to the original model, the improved model reduces both operation time and the number of collisions. CONCLUSIONS: The improved master-slave motion alignment model, in which the transformation matrix between the operator's eyes and the display is employed, raises the ergonomics, operational efficiency, and safety.
