RESUMO

2D <100>-oriented Dion-Jacobson or Ruddlesden-Popper perovskites are widely recognized as promising candidates for optoelectronic applications. However, the large interlayer spacing significantly hinders the carrier transport. <110>-oriented 2D perovskites naturally exhibit reduced interlayer spacings, but the tilting of metal halide octahedra is typically serious and leads to poor charge transport. Herein, a <110>-oriented 2D perovskite EPZPbBr4 (EPZ = 1-ethylpiperazine) with minimized tilting is designed through A-site stereo-hindrance engineering. The piperazine functional group enters the space enclosed by the three [PbBr6]4- octahedra, pushing Pb─Br─Pb closer to a straight line (maximum Pb─Br─Pb angle ≈180°), suppressing the tilting as well as electron-phonon coupling. Meanwhile, the ethyl group is located between layers and contributes an extremely reduced effective interlayer distance (2.22 Å), further facilitating the carrier transport. As a result, EPZPbBr4 simultaneously demonstrates high µτ product (1.8 × 10-3 cm2 V-1) and large resistivity (2.17 × 1010 Ω cm). The assembled X-ray detector achieves low dark current of 1.02 × 10-10 A cm-2 and high sensitivity of 1240 µC Gy-1 cm-2 under the same bias voltage. The realized specific detectivity (ratio of sensitivity to noise current density, 1.23 × 108 µC Gy-1 cm-1 A-1/2) is the highest among all reported perovskite X-ray detectors.

RESUMO

Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a worldwide public health concern. With the widespread dissemination of prevention approaches to end CSA, numerous CSA prevention programs exist in developed countries, but there is little evidence on how these programs are performing in Mainland China. The aim of this study was to review the existing research focusing on CSA prevention programs in Mainland China. Studies of CSA prevention programs were identified by conducting a comprehensive search of major academic databases for Chinese and English research. Articles were retained if they were original empirical studies that conducted programs to prevent CSA in Mainland China and measured related outcomes. Twelve studies met the inclusion criteria. A child-targeted, universally focused, and school-based educational program was the most common (n = 7), followed by specifically focused programs that covered migrant and left-behind children using group-based intervention strategies (n = 2) and ordinary parents with self-learning strategies (n = 2); one study delivered agency-based face-to-face education to parents with disabled children. However, the shortcomings in research design limited its replication to the broader population. CSA prevention program research in Mainland China is in an early stage due to the limited target populations, lack of large-scale government-led initiatives, and low involvement of multicomponent collaboration. We provide suggestions for conducting future research involving more inclusive programs for other populations, comprehensive programs with multiple targets and stakeholders, large-scale evidence-based research, culturally tailored and contextual adaptation programs.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Depression is an important mental disease that threatens human physical and mental health. Circular RNA (circRNA) has been confirmed to be involved in the regulation of depression progression, but the role and mechanism of circDYM in depression progression need to be further explored. METHODS: Chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) mice model was constructed to assess mice depressive-like behavior using novelty-suppressed feeding test, sucrose preference test, social interaction test, and forced swimming test. The expression of circDYM, microRNA (miR)-497a-5p and glucocorticoid receptor (NR3C1) was measured by quantitative real-time PCR. The protein levels of NR3C1 and apoptosis markers were analyzed by western blot analysis. Hippocampal neurons viability, apoptosis and inflammation were detected by cell counting kit 8 assay, flow cytometry and ELISA assay. Furthermore, RNA interaction was confirmed by dual-luciferase reporter assay, RIP assay and RNA pull-down assay. RESULTS: Our study showed that circDYM and NR3C1 were downregulated and miR-497a-5p was upregulated in the hippocampus tissues of CUMS mice. Overexpressed circDYM alleviated CUMS mice depressive-like behavior and repressed hippocampal neurons injury. In terms of mechanism, circDYM could upregulate NR3C1 by sponging miR-497a-5p. MiR-497a-5p overexpression reversed the regulation of circDYM on CUMS mice depressive-like behavior and hippocampal neurons injury. In addition, the function of miR-497a-5p overexpression on CUMS mice depressive-like behavior and hippocampal neurons injury also could be reversed by overexpressing NR3C1. CONCLUSION: In summary, our study confirmed that circDYM could relieve the depressive-like behavior in CUMS mice and hippocampal neurons injury through miR-497a-5p/NR3C1 pathway. These data confirmed that circDYM had an anti-depressive function, which might be a potential target for depression treatment.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In neonatal rats, MK-801 treatments can produce schizophrenia-like symptoms. Crocin is a water soluble carotenoid in Saffron that exerts potent neuroprotective effects. This work aimed to demonstrate the function of crocin in the alleviation of motor and cognitive impairments elicited by MK-801 in a neonatal rodent schizophrenia model, and to illustrate the underlying molecular mechanisms. METHODS: Rats were treated with vehicle, MK-801 (1 mg/kg), MK-801 + 25 mg/kg crocin, or MK-801 + 50 mg/kg crocin. Motor learning and coordination, locomotion and exploratory activities, as well as spatial memory were assessed using the rotarod test, pen field test, and the Morris water maze test, respectively. Relative mRNA and protein levels of genes of interest were analyzed using qRT-PCR and Western blot assays, respectively. RESULTS: In the hippocampus of rats with MK-801-elicited schizophrenia, administration of crocin elevated the expression of silent information regulator-1 (SIRT1) and brain derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and relieved the oxidative stress. The learning deficits and motor perturbations caused by MK-801 treatments were also alleviated by the crocin administration. CONCLUSION: Collectively, crocin has exerted neuroprotective effects in the rat model of MK-801-elicited schizophrenia, via regulations of SIRT1 and downstream BDNF expression in the hippocampus.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVE: To explore the potential relationship between previous influenza virus (IV) infection and acute myocardial infarction (AMI), and the mechanism of atherosclerosis, we conducted a case-control study and examined inflammatory cytokines to assess the association of previous IV infection and AMI. METHODS: A questionnaire-based survey was conducted to collect information about demographic characteristics and heart disease risk factors. Fasting blood samples were obtained to measure immunoglobulin (Ig) G antibodies to influenza virus A (IV-A), influenza virus B (IV-B), cytomegalovirus, herpes simplex virus type-1 and type-2, adenovirus, rubella virus and Chlamydia pneumoniae, and to measure the level of certain biochemistry markers: interleukin-2, 6, 10 and 18 (IL-2, 6, 10 and 18), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interferon-γ (IFN-γ), endothelin-1 (ET-1), soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1) and soluble vascular cell adhesion molecule-1 (sVCAM-1). RESULTS: Compared with the controls, the cases were more likely to have positive IgG antibodies to IV-A and IV-B [IV-A: odds ratio (OR): 3.1, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.5-6.4; IV-B: OR: 10.2, 95% CI: 5.7-20.0]. After adjustment for potential confounding variables, the risk of AMI was still associated with the presence of IgG antibodies to IV-A (adjusted OR: 5.5, 95% CI: 1.3-23.0) and IV-B (adjusted OR: 20.3, 95% CI: 5.6-40.8). The levels of IL-2, 6, 10 and18, TNF-α, IFN-γ, ET-1, sICAM-1 and sVCAM-1 in patients with AMI were significantly higher than those of the controls (P < 0.01). CONCLUSIONS: Our study supports the hypothesis that previous IV infection is associated with AMI. Inflammatory cytokines may take part in the development of atherosclerosis and trigger the occurrence of AMI.
