Cu-doping contents in the TiO2 lattice structure were studied to show the effects on the crystal structure, morphology, and photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanoparticles and thus composite cellulosic nanofibrous membranes. Pristine and copper-doped TiO2 nanoparticles were synthesized using the sol-gel technique, a wet chemical method with the advantages of low synthesizing temperature, uniform nanosize distribution, and purity. The as-synthesized semiconductor nanoparticles were first tested with the dye removal process and then impregnated onto electrospun cellulose nanofibers (CL nanofibers) to acquire modified nanofibers with self-cleaning properties. The as-prepared composite CL nanofibers consisting of doped and undoped TiO2 nanoparticles were characterized by various techniques, such as field emission scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, UV-vis, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and tensile tests. The copper-doped TiO2 molar ratio in the nanocomposite was found to possess a pronounced impact on the dye removal and self-cleaning effects under the visible light spectrum, whereas TiO2 is highly effective under specific UV-light irradiation. Optical measurements and dye decomposition showed that the Cu-doped TiO2 nanocomposite was optimized at a 1% molar ratio by the copper-doping concentration regarding dye removal and self-cleaning applications under the visible light range.

Background: Secondhand smoke (SHS) has detrimental effects on community health, including coronary heart diseases, stroke, lung cancer etc. This manuscript exploited data from the Vietnam Population-based Provincial Global Adult Tobacco Survey (PGATS) in 2022 to update the prevalence of adult exposure to SHS and associated socio-demographic factors. Methods: With the sample size of 71,981 adults aged 15+ throughout 30 provinces and cities in Vietnam, data was collected using the Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) questionnaire. Bivariate analysis and multivariate logistic regression modelling were performed. Results: In the past 30 days, 44.4% (95% CI: 44.0%-44.9%) adults aged 15+ exposed to SHS at home while 23.1% (95% CI: 22.6%-23.6%) exposed to SHS at work. Female exposure to SHS in the past 30 days was higher at homes but lower at indoor workplaces. Participants aged 15-24 were likely to have higher odds of SHS exposure in the past 30 days to other age groups. Those living in the urban areas had 1.15 times higher odds (95% CI: 1.08-1.22) of exposure to SHS than those in the rural areas. Current smokers tended to have 2.2 times higher odds of exposure to SHS at the indoor workplaces compared to non-smokers (95% CI: 2.05-2.37). Conclusions: The prevalence of exposure to SHS at home was still relatively high amongst the adult population. While there was a significant reduction of SHS exposure at indoor workplaces, there was a higher prevalence of women being exposed to SHS at home. The Government of Vietnam should continue to strictly implement the smoke-free environment resolution at indoor workplaces and appropriate communication campaigns to protect people, especially women from SHS exposure at homes.

This study attempts to reveal antioxidants in the plant parts of Myxopyrum smilacifolium (Wall.) Blume using antioxidant assays and LC-MS/MS analysis. Methanol is the most effective solvent for collecting antioxidants. The roots-derived methanol extract demonstrates the greatest antioxidant activity, corresponding to the extremely low IC50 values of 16.39 µg/mL and 19.80 µg/mL for DPPH and ABTS radicals, respectively. The high phenolic and flavonoid contents are the primary reason for outstanding total antioxidant capacity (TAC; i.e. 247.73 ± 1.62 mg GA/g or 163.93 ± 0.83 mg AS/g) of the root extract. LC-MS/MS quantification of five phenolic compounds reveals exceptionally high amounts of quercetin and luteolin in the root extract, ranging from 238.86 ± 5.74 to 310.99 ± 1.44 µg/g and from 201.49 ± 7.84 to 234.10 ± 2.54 µg/g, respectively, in the root-derived methanol extract. The achievement highlights M. smilacifolium as a promising source of natural antioxidants for large-scale medical applications.

We are reporting a short and convenient pathway for the synthesis of novel ß-carboline-bisindole hybrid compounds from relatively cheap and commercially available chemicals such as tryptamine, dialdehydes and indoles. These newly designed compounds can also be prepared in high yields with the tolerance of many functional groups under mild conditions. Notably, these ß-carboline-bisindole hybrid compounds exhibited some promising applications as anticancer agents against the three common cancer cell lines MCF-7 (breast cancer), SK-LU-1 (lung cancer), and HepG2 (liver cancer). The two best compounds 5b and 5g inhibited the aforementioned cell lines with the same range of the reference Ellipticine at less than 2 µM. A molecular docking study to gain more information about the interactions between the synthesized molecules and the kinase domain of the EGFR was performed. Therefore, this finding can have significant impacts on the development of future research in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery.

Adsorption of essential amino acid, Tryptophan (Tryp) on synthesized gibbsite nanoparticles and their applications in eliminating of antibiotic ciprofloxacin (CFX) and bacteria Escherichia coli (E. coli) in aqueous solution. Nano-gibbsite which was successfully fabricated, was characterized by XRD, TEM-SAED, FT-IR, SEM-EDX and zeta potential measurements. The selected parameters for Tryp adsorption on nano-gibbsite to form biomaterial, Tryp/gibbsite were pH 11, gibbsite dosage 20 mg/mL and 1400 mg/L Tryp. The optimum conditions for CFX removal using Tryp/gibbsite were adsorption time 60 min, pH 5, and 20 mg/mL Tryp/gibbsite dosage. The CFX removal significantly raised from 63 to 90% when using Tryp/gibbsite. The Freundlich and pseudo-second-order models achieved the best fits for CFX adsorption isotherm and kinetic on Tryp/gibbsite, respectively. The amount of CFX increased with increasing ionic strength, suggesting that both electrostatic and non-electrostatic interactions were important. After four reused time, CFX removal was greater than 66%, demonstrating that Tryp/gibbsite is reusable with high performance in removing CFX. The application in bacterial activity in term of E. coli reached greater than 98% that was the best material for bacteria inactivation. The present study reveals that Tryp/gibbsite is an excellent bio-material for removing CFX and E. coli.

Background. The aim of the study was to synthesize liposomal nanoparticles loaded with temozolomide and ferucarbotran (LTF) and to evaluate the theranostic effect of LTF in the glioma model. Methods. We synthesized an LTF that could pass through the Blood Brain Barrier (BBB) and localize in brain tumor tissue with the help of magnet guidance. We examined the chemical characteristics. Cellular uptake and cytotoxicity studies were conducted in vitro. A biodistribution and tumor inhibition study was conduted using an in vivo glioma model. Results. The particle size and surface charge of LTF show 108 nm and -38 mV, respectively. Additionally, the presence of ferucarbotran significantly increased the contrast agent effect of glioma compared to the control group in MR imaging. Magnet-guided LTF significantly reduced the tumor size compared to control and other groups. Furthermore, compared to the control group, our results demonstrate a significant inhibition in brain tumor size and an increase in lifespan. Conclusions. These findings suggest that the LTF with magnetic guidance represents a novel approach to address current obstacles, such as BBB penetration of nanoparticles and drug resistance. Magnet-guided LTF is able to enhance therapeutic efficacy in mouse brain glioma.

Neuroimaging biomarkers are needed to investigate the impact of smoking withdrawal on brain function. NFL-101 is a denicotinized aqueous extract of tobacco leaves currently investigated as an immune-based smoking cessation therapy in humans. However, the immune response to NFL-101 and its ability to induce significant changes in brain function remain to be demonstrated. Brain glucose metabolism was investigated using [18F]fluoro-deoxy-glucose ([18F]FDG) PET imaging in a mouse model of cigarette smoke exposure (CSE, 4-week whole-body inhalation, twice daily). Compared with control animals, the relative uptake of [18F]FDG in CSE mice was decreased in the thalamus and brain stem (p < 0.001, n = 14 per group) and increased in the hippocampus, cortex, cerebellum, and olfactory bulb (p < 0.001). NFL-101 induced a humoral immune response (specific IgGs) in mice and activated human natural-killer lymphocytes in vitro. In CSE mice, but not in control mice, single-dose NFL-101 significantly increased [18F]FDG uptake in the thalamus (p < 0.01), thus restoring normal brain glucose metabolism after 2-day withdrawal in this nicotinic receptor-rich region. In tobacco research, [18F]FDG PET imaging provides a quantitative method to evaluate changes in the brain function associated with the withdrawal phase. This method also showed the CNS effects of NFL-101, with translational perspectives for future clinical evaluation in smokers.

BACKGROUND: There is a growing amount of evidence on the association between cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) and breast calcification. Thus, mammographic breast features have recently gained attention as CVD predictors. OBJECTIVE: This study assessed the association of mammographic features, including benign calcification, microcalcification, and breast density, with cardiovascular diseases. METHODS: This study comprised 6,878,686 women aged ≥40 who underwent mammographic screening between 2009 and 2012 with follow-up until 2020. The mammographic features included benign calcification, microcalcification, and breast density. The cardiovascular diseases associated with the mammographic features were assessed using logistic regression. RESULTS: The prevalence of benign calcification, microcalcification, and dense breasts were 9.6 %, 0.9 % and 47.3 % at baseline, respectively. Over a median follow-up of 10 years, benign calcification and microcalcification were positively associated with an increased risk of chronic ischaemic heart disease whereas breast density was inversely associated with it; the corresponding aOR (95 % CI) was 1.14 (1.10-1.17), 1.19 (1.03-1.15), and 0.88 (0.85-0.90), respectively. A significantly increased risk of chronic ischaemic heart disease (IHD) was observed among women with benign calcifications (aHR, 1.14; 95 % CI 1.10-1.17) and microcalcifications (aOR, 1.19; 95 % CI 1.06-1.33). Women with microcalcifications had a 1.16-fold (95 % CI 1.03-1.30) increased risk of heart failure. CONCLUSIONS: Mammographic calcifications were associated with an increased risk of chronic ischaemic heart diseases, whereas dense breast was associated with a decreased risk of cardiovascular disease. Thus, the mammographic features identified on breast cancer screening may provide an opportunity for cardiovascular disease risk identification and prevention.

We have previously shown that a single dose of a TREK-1 channel activator, ostruthin, exhibited antidepressant and anxiolytic effects in acute behavioral test models in mice. To assess the potential clinical application, it is essential to evaluate the effects of long-term administration of ostruthin in a chronically stressed mouse model, which is considered to be similar to the clinical condition of major depression in humans. Here, we tested the effects of a single and a 7-day administration of ostruthin on mice that were subjected to chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS). A single administration of ostruthin showed antidepressive effects in the tail suspension and forced swim tests of CUMS-treated mice. Unexpectedly, the 7-day administration exhibited only insignificant antidepressive and anxiolytic effects. The 7-day regimen did not affect food intake or body-weight gain, suggesting the absence of apparent cytotoxicity. The mice receiving the 7-day administration had significantly lower blood concentrations of ostruthin compared to those receiving a single dose, suggesting an upregulation of drug-metabolizing activities. These findings suggest that there is a need for stable TREK-1 channel activators that are not affected by drug metabolism.

In this study, we investigate the influence of montmorillonite (MMT) on the loading and release of Piper betle L. extract (PLE)-a medicinal herb containing active secondary metabolites with antibacterial, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory effects. MMT (1 %, 3 %, 5 %) was blended into the chitosan/polyvinyl alcohol (CS/PVA) biocomposite film by the solution evaporation method, and then PLE was loaded onto this biocomposite using the immersion method. The tensile strength and the ability to absorb exudates of the CS/PVA film improved with the increase in MMT content. The MMT 3 % film was considered to have the best properties: good mechanical properties with a tensile strength of 27.44 ± 0.27 MPa and elongation at break of 14.57 ± 0.30 %, potential for wound dressing due to its ability to absorb wound exudate (swelling degree 61.70 ± 0.30 %) and a suitable water vapor transmission rate (1999 ± 47 g/m2·d). The presence of MMT (1 %, 3 %, 5 %) in the CS/PVA film led to an increase in the PLE loading efficiency of the films compared to the film without MMT, up to 1.65, 1.73, and 1.87 times, respectively. The MMT 3 % and 5 % films also exhibited a sustained PLE release effect for up to 24 h. MMT increased PLE bioavailability through bioactivity tests: antibacterial activity against both E. coli and S. aureus, antioxidant activity, effective healing of 2nd-degree burn wounds, and biocompatibility with the L929 fibroblasts cell line. The combination of physicochemical properties and biological activities proved that the MMT/PLE drug delivery system based on the CS/PVA biocomposite is promising for wound dressing.

Stimulator of interferon genes (STING) is a central component of the cytosolic nucleic acids sensing pathway and as such master regulator of the type I interferon response. Due to its critical role in physiology and its' involvement in a variety of diseases, STING has been a focus for drug discovery. Targeted protein degradation (TPD) has emerged as a promising pharmacology for targeting previously considered undruggable proteins by hijacking the cellular ubiquitin proteasome system (UPS) with small molecules. Here, we identify AK59 as a STING degrader leveraging HERC4, a HECT-domain E3 ligase. Additionally, our data reveals that AK59 is effective on the common pathological STING mutations, suggesting a potential clinical application of this mechanism. Thus, these findings introduce HERC4 to the fields of TPD and of compound-induced degradation of STING, suggesting potential therapeutic applications.

RESUMO

This paper outlines the process undertaken by Asian National Cancer Centers Alliance (ANCCA) members in working towards an Asian Code Against Cancer (ACAC). The process involves: (i) identification of the criteria for selecting the existing set of national recommendations for ACAC (ii) compilation of existing national codes or recommendations on cancer prevention (iii) reviewing the scientific evidence on cancer risk factors in Asia and (iv) establishment of one or more ACAC under the World Code Against Cancer Framework. A matrix of national codes or key recommendations against cancer in ANCCA member countries is presented. These include taking actions to prevent or control tobacco consumption, obesity, unhealthy diet, physical inactivity, alcohol consumption, exposure to occupational and environmental toxins; and to promote breastfeeding, vaccination against infectious agents and cancer screening. ANCCA will continue to serve as a supportive platform for collaboration, development, and advocacy of an ACAC jointly with the International Agency for Research on Cancer/World Health Organization (IARC/WHO).

Objective: Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) in patients who have undergone Billroth II gastroenterostomy (B-II GE) has been challenging, requiring flexibility in technical approaches during execution. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of enhanced techniques in performing ERCP on this patient group in Vietnam. Method: A total of 42 Vietnamese patients with B-II GE performed an ERCP using a duodenoscope or a modification of ERCP equipment (a cap-fitted regular forward-viewing endoscope) if the former failed. The effectiveness and safety of the ERCP technique were assessed, particularly in patients who underwent the forward-viewing endoscope method. Result: A total of 39 out of 42 patients had the Vater's papilla identified, among whom 12 patients (30.8%) achieved successful cannulation into the bile duct using a side-viewing endoscope, significantly lower than the success rate using a forward-viewing endoscope (25/27, counted 92.6%, with p < 0.001). After successful cannulation, the rate of stone clearance, the procedural time, and the hospitalization duration of the patients were equivalent between the two methods and were not dependent on the number or size of the stones. On the other hand, post-ERCP complications in patients utilizing forward-viewing endoscopy included acute pancreatitis (22.2%), post-sphincterotomy bleeding (3.7%), septicemia (4.8%), and perforation (0%). These complications were mild and amenable to conservative endoscopic and medical management, and no mortality was observed. The rates of complications and adverse events after ERCP are comparable between the two treatment methods, even though the end-viewing endoscope is used after the failure of the side-viewing endoscope. Conclusion: Alter ERCP utilizing a cap-fitted forward-viewing endoscope can be a primary choice for treating common bile duct stones in patients with a Billroth II gastric resection history because of high efficacy and acceptable complications. It requires a high level of procedural expertise that requires multiple training sessions.


The promising change in the treatment approach for common bile duct stones in Vietnamese patients with a history of Billroth II gastrectomy Endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) treating common bile duct stones in Vietnamese patients with a history of Billroth II gastrectomy is challenging due to changes in gastric anatomy and the limited visibility of the side-viewing endoscope. The researchers tried different techniques, including using a special type of forward-viewing endoscope with cap assistance. We found that using a forward-viewing endoscope was more successful in reaching certain areas compared to a side-viewing one. Although there were some complications, they were manageable, and the overall results were similar between the two methods. The study suggests that using a modified approach with a forward-viewing endoscope with cap assistance can be a good option for treating common bile duct stones in patients with a history of Billroth II gastric resection, but it requires skilled practitioners.

OBJECTIVE: This study was undertaken to develop and evaluate a machine learning-based algorithm for the detection of focal to bilateral tonic-clonic seizures (FBTCS) using a novel multimodal connected shirt. METHODS: We prospectively recruited patients with epilepsy admitted to our epilepsy monitoring unit and asked them to wear the connected shirt while under simultaneous video-electroencephalographic monitoring. Electrocardiographic (ECG) and accelerometric (ACC) signals recorded with the connected shirt were used for the development of the seizure detection algorithm. First, we used a sliding window to extract linear and nonlinear features from both ECG and ACC signals. Then, we trained an extreme gradient boosting algorithm (XGBoost) to detect FBTCS according to seizure onset and offset annotated by three board-certified epileptologists. Finally, we applied a postprocessing step to regularize the classification output. A patientwise nested cross-validation was implemented to evaluate the performances in terms of sensitivity, false alarm rate (FAR), time in false warning (TiW), detection latency, and receiver operating characteristic area under the curve (ROC-AUC). RESULTS: We recorded 66 FBTCS from 42 patients who wore the connected shirt for a total of 8067 continuous hours. The XGBoost algorithm reached a sensitivity of 84.8% (56/66 seizures), with a median FAR of .55/24 h and a median TiW of 10 s/alarm. ROC-AUC was .90 (95% confidence interval = .88-.91). Median detection latency from the time of progression to the bilateral tonic-clonic phase was 25.5 s. SIGNIFICANCE: The novel connected shirt allowed accurate detection of FBTCS with a low false alarm rate in a hospital setting. Prospective studies in a residential setting with a real-time and online seizure detection algorithm are required to validate the performance and usability of this device.

The study investigated the effectiveness of Mg/Al LDH-zeolite (MALZ) in immobilizing exchangeable Cr (e-Cr) within the soil. The research systematically evaluated various variables affecting the immobilization of e-Cr in contaminated soil (CS), including soil pH levels (ranging from 5.0 to 9.0), different weight ratios of MALZ (1 %, 3 %, and 5 %), durations of differing incubation periods (15, 30 and 45 days), and different SM content levels (30 %, 50 %, and 70 %). The initial concentration of Cr in the CS was maintained at 50 mg/kg. The investigation findings revealed that the optimal conditions for immobilizing the e-Cr were a soil pH of 5.0, an MALZ weight ratio of 3 %, an incubation period of 30 days, and an SM level of 70 %. Under these ideal conditions, the percentage of e-Cr within the CS decreased significantly, from 87.49 % (45.64 mg/kg) in the control treatment (CT) to just 19.82 % (10.08 mg/kg) when incubated with MALZ. The primary mechanisms responsible for immobilizing the e-Cr onto MALZ included pore filling, reduction processes, co-precipitation, organic interactions and electrostatic attractions leading to the formation of carbonate-bound complexes such as Cr(VI)-carbonate, Cr(III)-carbonate, and organic complexes. Surface functional groups on MALZ, housing iron and aluminium oxyhydroxides and silicon and oxygen elements, expedited these procedures. This study provided a valuable understanding of the mitigation of soils contaminated with chromium and contributed to understanding the relations between MALZ and the e-Cr in the soil. The discoveries carry substantial consequences for the advancement of efficient remediation technologies.

CuCoFe-LDO/BCD was successfully synthesized from CuCoFe-LDH and biochar derived from durian shell (BCD). Ciprofloxacin (CFX) degraded more than 95% mainly by O2•- and 1O2 in CuCoFe-LDO/BCD(2/1)/PMS system within 10 min with a rate constant of 0.255 min-1, which was 14.35 and 2.66 times higher than those in BCD/PMS and CuCoFe-LDO/PMS systems, respectively. The catalytic system exhibited good performance over a wide pH range (3-9) and high degradation efficiency of other antibiotics. Built-in electric field (BIEF) driven by large difference in the work function/Fermi level ratio between CuCoFe-LDO and BCD accelerated continuous electron transfer from CuCoFe-LDO to BCD to result in two different microenvironments with opposite charges at the interface, which enhanced PMS adsorption and activation via different directions. As a non-radical, 1O2 was mainly generated via PMS activation by C=O in BCD. The presence of C=O in BCD resulted in an increase in atomic charge of C in C=O and redistributed the charge density of other C atoms. As a result, strong adsorption of PMS at C atom in C=O and other C with a high positive charge was favorable for 1O2 generation, whereas an enhanced adsorption of PMS at negatively charged C accounted for the generation of •OH and SO4•-. After adsorption, electrons in C of BCD became deficient and were fulfilled with those transferred from CuCoFe-LDO driven by BIEF, which ensured the high catalytic activity of CuCoFe-LDO/BCD. O2•-, on the other hand, was generated via several pathways that involved in the transformation of •OH and SO4•- originated from PMS activation by the transition of metal species in CuCoFe-LDO and negatively charged C in BCD. This study proposed a new idea of fabricating a low-cost metal-LDH and biomass-derived catalyst with a strong synergistic effect induced by BIEF for enhancing PMS activation and antibiotic degradation.

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the present pilot study was to assess the effectiveness of the platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) apical barrier for the placement of MTA for the treatment of teeth with periapical lesions and open apices. METHODS: A total of thirty teeth on twenty-eight patients with open apices and periapical periodontitis were enrolled and divided into two groups in the present pilot study. In the PRF group (fourteen teeth in thirteen patients), nonsurgical endodontic treatment was performed using PRF as an apical matrix, after which the apical plug of the MTA was created. For the non-PRF group (fourteen teeth in fourteen patients), nonsurgical endodontic therapy was performed using only the MTA for an apical plug with no further periapical intervention. Clinical findings and periapical digital radiographs were used for evaluating the healing progress after periodic follow-ups of 1, 3, 6, and 9 months. The horizontal dimension of the periapical lesion was gauged, and the changes in the dimensions were recorded each time. The Friedman test, Dunn-Bonferroni post hoc correction, and Mann-Whitney U test were used for statistical analysis, with P < 0.05 serving as the threshold for determining statistical significance. RESULTS: All patients in both groups in the present pilot study had no clinical symptoms after 1 month, with a significant reduction in the periapical lesion after periodic appointments. The lesion width of the PRF group was significantly smaller than that of the non-PRF group in the sixth and ninth month after treatment. CONCLUSIONS: PRF is a promising apical barrier matrix when combined with MTA for the treatment of teeth with open apices and periapical periodontitis. Small number of study subjects and the short time of follow-up period limit the generalizability of these results. TRIAL REGISTRATION: TCTR, TCTR20221109006. CONTEXT.­: The subspecialty workforce in pathology globally is inadequate for the demands of many modern therapies. The Open Pathology Education Network (OPEN) was formed to augment the global pathology workforce. The International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) virtual gynecologic-oncology (gyn-onc) fellowship training identified needs for higher-level pathology support. OBJECTIVE.­: To report on an OPEN-IGCS pilot project to support gyn-onc and pathology education efforts in a developing country. DESIGN.­: Curriculum with learning objectives and content from open sources was assembled. Mentoring sessions included bidirectional case sharing. Trainees received sequential curricula assignments and had options for communication outside mentoring sessions. Pretest and posttest digital slide assessments were included. Mentors attended the gynecology tumor board, allowing for the assessment of quality and accuracy of pathology diagnosis for cases discussed. RESULTS.­: Learners completing the pretest and posttest showed substantial improvement, with 2 practicing pathologists improving their diagnostic scores from 60% to an average of 95%. A third trainee-level participant also improved, but to a lesser degree. Qualitative assessments included increased confidence in presentation and an increased ability to anticipate questions, raise issues of expanded differential diagnoses, and articulate appropriate workup. Observations of clinicians who participated also noted increased confidence in participating pathologists. Secondary value included establishing an expanded network of support in other subspecialties for participants. Pathologic issues at the tumor board decreased, from more than 50% in the first 3 months of study to 0% in the last 3 months of study. The curriculum was embedded into a self-paced learning portal at courses.open-pathology.org. CONCLUSIONS.­: The OPEN-IGCS collaboration model shows the potential to provide subspecialty pathology training remotely.

Talaromyces sp. DC2 is an endophytic fungus that was isolated from the stem of Catharanthus roseus (L.) G. Don in Hanoi, Vietnam and is capable of producing vinca alkaloids. This study utilizes the PacBio Sequel technology to completely sequence the whole genome of Talaromyces sp. DC2The genome study revealed that DC2 contains a total of 34.58 Mb spanned by 156 contigs, with a GC content of 46.5%. The identification and prediction of functional protein-coding genes, tRNA, and rRNA were comprehensively predicted and highly annotated using various BLAST databases, including non-redundant (Nr) protein sequence, Gene Ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), Clusters of Orthologous Groups (COG), and Carbohydrate-Active Enzymes (CAZy) databases. The genome of DC2 has a total of 149, 227, 65, 153, 53, and 6 genes responsible for cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin, pectin, chitin, starch, and inulin degradation, respectively. The Antibiotics and Secondary Metabolites Analysis Shell (AntiSMASH) analyses revealed that strain DC2 possesses 20 biosynthetic gene clusters responsible for producing secondary metabolites. The strain DC2 has also been found to harbor the DDC gene encoding aromatic L-amino acid decarboxylase enzyme. Conclusively, this study has provided a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in secondary metabolites and the ability of the Talaromyces sp. DC2 strain to degrade plant cell walls.
