RESUMO

In recent decades, a promising area of physiotherapy has been intensively developed In Russia and abroad - magnetic therapy, based on the use of various types of magnetic fields for preventive, curative and rehabilitative purposes. The use of high-intensity pulsed magnetotherapy is promising. The effectiveness of the method in a number of diseases of childhood, which has an active stimulating effect on the state of the neuromuscular apparatus, has been proven.

RESUMO

One of new methods for the physiotherapeutic treatment in pediatrics is the application of the pulsed low-frequency electrostatic field the action of which is based on the effects of deep resonant vibration on the affected tissue region with the minimal mecha-nical impact. Under the influence of the electrostatic field, the tissues at the site of interest become tightened and descend which causes their vibration due to the alternation of the pulses and intervals between them. The fast consecutive repetition of this process results in rhythmical deformation of the tissues. The electrostatic pulses are responsible for the increased friction between separate parts of the tissues while in the intervals between the pulses the tissue elastically resists their influence. In this way, the tissues subjected to such influence 'are pumped over' throughout their depth. It leads to the restoration of elasticity and mobilization of separate fibers and layers inside the tissue as well as to the development and improvement of the blood flow in the tissues and their blood supply. During the recent years, a large number of reports have been published in the literature concerning the possibilities of application of the pulsed low-frequency electrostatic field for the treatment and prevention of various di-seases in the children, including both monotherapy and its combination with other therapeutic modalities. The favourable action of the pulse low-frequency electrostatic field on the clinical course of bronchial asthma, mucoviscidosis, I and II degree scoliosis in the young children, remittent multiple sclerosis in the adolescents has been demonstrated. The data obtained give evidence of the high effectiveness of the proposed method, its excellent tolerance, and a wide range of beneficial effects on the main pathogenetic components of the diseases which creates the good prerequisites for the further active introduction of the therapeutic phy-sical factors in the practical work of the children's medical organizations.

RESUMO

This literature review is focused on the application of polychromatic and monochromatic polarized light for the treatment of various diseases of the childhood including those in the newborns and the premature babies. The analysis of the data of scientific research gives evidence of the beneficial effect of polychromatic polarized light on the clinical course of various skin diseases in the newborn children. Moreover, the improved immunological and reparative processes were revealed after the surgical interventions for congenital heart defects in the newborns. The light-induced changes in the skin contribute to the realization of therapeutic effects of polarized polychromatic light in such children's diseases as atopic dermatitis, bronchitis, bronchial asthma, neurogenic urinary bladder dysfunction, and the traumatic injuries of the limbs. The biologically positive physiological effects of monochromatic polarized light are known to contribute to the improvement of the clinical and functional status in the children presenting with bronchial asthma and in the patients frequently suffering from acute respiratory diseases. The versatility of the biological effects of polarized light taken together with the possibility of its application from the first days of the child's life, the short duration of the procedure, the absence of unpleasant sensations and contact between the damaged surface and the device as well as the simplicity of using the equipment determine the promising prospects for the use of the proposed method in the clinical pediatric practice.

RESUMO

Atopic dermatitis takes the predominant position in the structure of skin pathologies in the children of various age. Both the scientifically based forecasts and the data of numerous investigations give evidence not only of the significant increase in the number of patients presenting with this condition but also of the growing severity of this disease. Taken together, these facts account for the serious medico-social importance of the problems arising in connection with this pathology. The introduction of the eliminative actions, a hypoallergenic diet, local and systemic pharmacotherapeutic modalities do not always allow to prevent or arrest the inflammatory process and achieve the long-standing remission. The high frequency of undesirable reactions to the pharmacological products turns the attention of many clinicians to the application of the non-pharmacological factors and methods for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in the children. The main objectives of physical therapy in the case of atopic dermatitis include the normalization of the state of the central and vegetative nervous system, the achievement of hyposensitization, sedative, anti-toxic, and anti-inflammatory effects, as well as the application of the dissolving, trophic, and antipruritogenic agents, strengthening of the general health status of the children.

RESUMO

Despite the recent achievements in diagnostics and pharmacotherapy of acute rhinosinusitis in the children, the problem of management of this pathology, thus far remains a serious challenge for practical medicine. The objective of the present study was to develop a scientifically sound rationale for the application of halotherapy (HT) and magnetic therapy (MT) or their combination for the treatment of acute rhinosinusitis in the children. The clinical observations and special investigations were carried out in the comparative aspect and encompassed 120 children at the age varying from 5 to 15 years suffering from acute rhinosinusitis. The therapeutic effectiveness of the rehabilitative treatment was evaluated based on the results of the endoscopic study of the nasal cavity, analysis of the X-ray images of paranasal sinuses, rhinomanometry, investigations into the ciliary activity, and assessment of the mucosal immunity. The results of the present study gave evidence of the feasibility of incorporating HT and MT in the combined treatment of the children presenting with acute rhinosinusitis. The integrated use of the two methods proved to have the advantage over the separate application of either of them. The specific effects of HT and MT on the clinical course of acute sinusitis and the functional state of intranasal mucosa are described. The optimal methods of the treatment are proposed.

RESUMO

UNLABELLED: This paper reports the results of the clinical observations and special investigations carried out with the involvement of the children presenting with acute respiratory diseases treated with the use of a Myramistin solution for inhalation. MATERIAL AND METHODS: The study included a total of 60 children with the above condition at the age varying between 2 and 17 years. Forty patients inhaled the Myramistin solution through a face mask connected to the nebulizer. The remaining 20 children that comprised the control group inhaled Myramistin in the form of a spray. RESULTS: The study has demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed method that produced beneficial effect on the clinical symptoms of the respiratory diseases and characteristics of peripheral blood. Moreover, it accelerated the recovery of the patients due to the anti-inflammatory and trophic action of the inhaled solution and promoted normalization of mucociliary clearance. The therapeutic effectiveness of the Myramistin spray was significantly lower than that of the solution. CONCLUSION: The results of the study provided a basis for the development of the optimal technologies for the application of the Myramistin inhalation solution to the treatment of the children presenting with acute respiratory diseases of the upper and lower parts of the respiratory tract.

RESUMO

In the present paper, we for the first time provide a rationale for the application of a new physical factor, pulsed magnetic stimulation, in pediatric practice. Our observations have demonstrated positive dynanfics of the parameters characterizing the functional state of the neuro-muscular apparatus and equalization of the amplitude of M-response as appears from the results of electromyographic studies. The data obtained by electrocardiography and estimation of the external respiratory function give evidence of favourable dynamics of the cardio-respiratory system. The results of the study have been used to substantiate the application of a new method of pulsed magnetic stimulation in pediatric medicine at the early stages of rehabilitation of the children following surgical treatment of grade Ill-IV scoliosis.

RESUMO

The development of prophylactic treatment is one of most challenging and socially significant aspects of modern pediatrics. Today, a great variety of natural and artificial physical factors are employed to protect and/or restore the health of the children and to improve it. The broad scope of non-medicamentous technologies used for the purpose makes it possible to elaborate prophylactic programs adapted to the specific requirements of individual patients at all levels of medical care including therapeutic and prophylactic, spa and resort institutions, educational institutions, health improvement and recreational camps of different types, and home care.
