PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Pregnancy-induced preeclampsia is a severe pregnancy complication and preeclampsia has been associated with an increased risk of chronic hypertension for offspring. However, the magnitude of the overall effect of exposure to preeclampsia in pregnancy on blood pressure (BP) in offspring is unknown. This systematic review and meta-analysis was sought to systematically assess the effects of preeclampsia on the BP of the offspring. RECENT FINDINGS: Of 2550 publications identified, 23 studies were included. The meta-analysis indicated that preeclampsia increases the potential risk of hypertension in offspring. Systolic blood pressure (SBP) was 2.0 mm Hg (95% CI: 1.2, 2.8) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) was 1.4 mm Hg (95% CI: 0.9, 1.9) higher in offspring exposed to pre-eclampsia in utero, compared to those born to normotensive mothers. The correlations were similar in stratified analyses of children and adolescents by sex, geographic area, ages, and gestational age. During childhood and young adulthood, the offspring of pregnant women with preeclampsia are at an increased risk of high BP. It is crucial to monitor their BP.

BACKGROUND: Improving quality of life is vital for patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) after radiofrequency ablation. Quality of life can be affected not only by personal mastery but also by health promoting behavior as previously studied. However, it remains unclear whether health promoting behavior mediates the relationship between personal mastery and quality of life. OBJECTIVES: To explore whether health promoting behavior mediates the relationship between personal mastery and quality of life in patients with AF after radiofrequency ablation. METHODS: A cross-sectional design and convenience sampling were conducted at a tertiary hospital in China. Self-reported questionnaires were used to assess personal mastery, health promoting behavior and quality of life. SPSS and AMOS software were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: A total of 202 patients with AF after radiofrequency ablation were enrolled (mean age 58.28 ± 12.70 years). The scores for personal mastery and quality of life were 22.52 ± 2.53 points and 62.58 ± 8.59 points, respectively, indicating a limited level. The health promoting behavior exhibited a moderate level, with scores averaging 103.82 ± 8.47 points. There was a positive correlation between the three variables (all P < 0.05). Health promoting behavior played a partial mediating role in the relationship between personal mastery and quality of life in patients with AF after radiofrequency ablation, accounting for 44.79 % of the total effect. CONCLUSIONS: In order to improve quality of life and prognosis, it is necessary to consider enhancing personal mastery and increasing patient compliance with health promoting behavior, which are important ways to improve their quality of life.

The study aims to explore the active molecules of traditional Chinese medicine that specifically bind to interleukin-15 receptor α (IL-15Rα) using molecular docking and surface plasmon resonance (SPR) technology. AutoDock molecular docking software was used to perform simulated docking of more than 3 000 compounds from 48 traditional Chinese medicines at IL-15Rα and screen the specific binding compounds. Then Biocore T200 biomolecular interaction analysis system of SPR was used to confirm the binding specificity of the selected target compounds. Finally, the biological effects of the target compounds on IL-15Rα were verified by cell biological experiments. The results showed that neoprzewaquinone A (Neo) possessed the highest specific binding affinity among the active molecules from traditional Chinese medicine, and the dissociation constant (KD) value was (0.62 ± 0.20) µmol/L. The results of cell experiment showed that Neo significantly inhibited the proliferation of Mo7e cells induced by IL-15, and the IC50 was 1.075 µmol/L, approximately 1/120 of the IC50 of Cefazolin (IL-15 specific antagonist). These results suggest that Neo is a specific inhibitor of IL-15Rα and may be a potential active drug for the treatment of diseases related to the dysfunction of the IL-15Rα signaling.

BACKGROUND: Malignant proliferating trichilemmal tumor (MPTT) is an infrequent malignant neoplasm originating from cutaneous appendages, with only a handful of documented cases. This report delineates a unique instance of MPTT situated in the neck, accompanied by lymph node metastasis. A comprehensive exposition of its clinical trajectory and imaging manifestation is presented, aiming to enhance comprehension and management of this atypical ailment. CASE SUMMARY: Patient concerns: A 79-year-old male presented with a longstanding right neck mass persisting for over six decades, exhibiting recent enlargement over the past year. Diagnoses: Enhanced magnetic resonance imaging of the neck unveiled an elliptical mass on the right neck side, characterized by an ill-defined border and a heterogeneous signal pattern. The mass exhibited subdued signal intensity on T1-weighted imaging (T1WI) and a heterogeneous high signal on T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), interspersed with a lengthy T1 and T2 cystic signal motif. Close anatomical association with the submandibular gland joint was noted, and intravenous gadolinium diethylene triamine pentaacetic acid administration facilitated conspicuous enhancement. Substantial enhancement of the solid segment prompted an initial preoperative diagnosis of malignant nerve sheath tumor. However, post-surgery histopathological and immunohistochemical analysis conclusively confirmed the diagnosis as malignant hyperplastic external hair root sheath tumor. Intervention: Complete excision of the tumor was successfully executed. Outcomes: The patient experienced a favorable postoperative recovery. CONCLUSION: Malignant proliferative trichilemmal tumor external hair root sheath tumor is a cystic-solid lesion, appearing as low signal on T1WI images or high signal on T2WI with enhancement of the solid component. Suspicions of malignancy are heightened when the tumor border is indistinct, tissue planes are breached, or when linear or patchy high signals are observed in the subcutaneous tissue on T1 liver acquisition with volume acceleration enhanced images along with intermediate signal on T2WI and restricted diffusion on diffusion-weighted imaging images. Strong consideration for malignancy should arise if there are signs of compromised adjacent tissue relationships or direct invasion evident on imaging. We have incorporated the above-mentioned content into the entire manuscript.

Objectives: To estimate the association of previous pregnancy loss with subsequent cardiovascular health during gestation and to examine the role of high-sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP) in the association. Methods: A total of 2,778 nulliparous pregnant women were recruited between March 2015 and November 2020 in Hefei city, China. Their cardiovascular health (CVH) including prepregnancy body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, total cholesterol, fasting plasma glucose, and smoke status were recorded at 24-28 weeks' gestation, as well as their reproductive history. Multivariate linear and logistic regression were performed to examine the association of pregnancy loss with cardiovascular health. And the role of hs-CRP between pregnancy loss and CVH was assessed by the mediation analysis. Results: Compared with women who have no pregnancy loss, women with a history of spontaneous or induced abortions had higher BMI (ß, 0.72, 95% CI, 0.50 to 0.94) and fasting plasma glucose (ß, 0.04, 95% CI, 0.01 to 0.07), and had lower total CVH scores after adjusting for confounders (ß, -0.09, 95% CI, -0.18 to -0.01). CVH scores were most significantly decreased among women with 3 or more induced abortions (ß, -0.26, 95% CI, -0.49, -0.02). The contribution of pregnancy loss to poorer gestational CVH mediated by increased hs-CRP levels was 23.17%. Conclusion: Previous pregnancy loss was associated with poorer cardiovascular health during gestation, which may be mediated by their gestational inflammatory status. Exposure to miscarriage alone was not a significant predictor of poorer CVH.

Chiral polycyclic indolines are widely present in natural products and have become the focus of extensive synthetic efforts. Here, we show the catalytic asymmetric dearomative [3 + 2] annulation of indoles with donor-acceptor aminocyclopropanes to construct tricyclic indolines. Key to the success of the reaction is the rational design of C1-symmetric bifunctional tridentate imidazoline-pyrroloimidazolone pyridine ligand. Under 5 mol% of Ni(OTf)2-ligand complex, diverse tricyclic indolines containing cyclopentamine moieties are obtained in good chemoselectivities, high diastereoselectivities, and excellent enantioselectivities. An unusual cis-configuration ligand is superior to the trans-configuration ligand and the corresponding C2-symmetric tridentate nitrogen ligands in the annulation reaction. Mechanistic studies by control experiments and density functional theory calculations reveal a dual activation manner, where Ni(II) complex activates the aminocyclopropane via coordination with the geminal diester, and imidazolidine NH forms a H-bond with the succinimide moiety.

The present study prepared a new type of Ginkgo biloba ketone ester(GBE50) preparation from polyethylene glycol and croscarmellose sodium with good biocompatibility and a certain viscosity by fused deposition modeling(FDM)-type 3D printing technique. Firstly, a cylindrical 3D printing model with a diameter of 9.00 mm and a height of 4.50 mm was established. Subsequently, the 3D-GBE50 preparations with three paths(concentric, zigzag, and grid), different layer heights, and different filling gaps were designed and prepared after the optimization of the proportions of excipients. The morphology, size, chemical properties, and dissolution activity of the 3D-GBE50 preparations were fully characterized and investigated. The results showed that 3D-GBE50 preparations had smooth appearance, clear texture, standard friability, good thermal stability, and stable chemical properties. Moreover, the printing path, layer height, and filling gap were directly related to the release rate of 3D-GBE50 preparations. The dissolution of 3D-GBE50 tablets with zigzag printing path was the fastest, while the dissolution rates of 3D-GBE50 tablets with concentric circle and grid-shaped printing paths were slower than that of commercially available G. biloba Ketone Ester Tablets. In addition, the dissolution of 3D-GBE50 tablets was faster with higher layer height and wider filling gap. As revealed by the results, th FDM-type 3D printing technique can flexibly regulate the drug release activity via controlling the printing parameters, providing effective ideas and methods for the pre-paration of personalized pharmaceutical preparations.

BACKGROUND: The aim of this study was to investigate the association between children's reported symptom burden and their parents' quality of life, and whether parents' perceived stress mediates this relationship. METHOD: this was a cross-sectional quantitative research study. Convenience sampling was used to recruit 80 pairs of parents and their children with cancer. Advanced statistical methods were used to analyse the mediating effects of parental stress between children's symptom burden and parents' quality of life. RESULTS: The results showed that parental stress was the mediator in the relationship between children's reported symptom burden and their parents' quality of life. CONCLUSIONS: Symptom burden was prevalent in Chinese children with cancer living in the community. Children's symptom burden is an important factor in predicting parental stress level, which simultaneously and directly lower parents' quality of life. The evidence in this study enlarges the knowledge base about the mediating effect of parental stress on the association between the symptom burden of children with cancer and their parents' quality of life. This evidence is crucial in paving the way for the development of interventions that improve the parental quality of life through stress-reduction programs.

BACKGROUND: Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), characterized by the production of autoantibodies and widespread deposition of immune complexes, predominantly affects women of childbearing age. More than one-third of SLE patients present ocular manifestations. Choroidal disease is currently not completely understood, and its precise differentiation from central serous chorioretinopathy is rarely achieved. To date, no more than 60 patients with choroidal involvement have been reported. CASE SUMMARY: A 37-year-old Chinese woman experienced decreased visual acuity bilaterally, accompanied by increasing periorbital swelling and severe conjunctival chemosis. Decreased breath sounds in both bases were detected via auscultation, as well as pitting edema in both ankles. SLE and lupus nephritis were diagnosed based on serositis, renal disorder, leukopenia and positive anti-Smith and anti-nuclear antibodies. Lupus choroidopathy was diagnosed based on ocular presentation and imaging. The patient was treated with systemic corticosteroids, spironolactone, hydroxychloroquine (HCQ), mycophenolate mofetil (MMF), and intravenous immunoglobulin. After 4 wk of hospitalization, the patient was discharged. Indocyanine green angiography showed no leakage from choroidal vessels, and ocular coherence tomography detected low amounts of subretinal fluid right before discharge. The patient was prescribed oral methylprednisolone, HCQ, and MMF. Two months after the first visit, ophthalmological examination revealed a visual acuity of 20/20 bilaterally, and SLE disease activity was well controlled; her symptoms disappeared completely. CONCLUSION: Here we presented a case of lupus choroidopathy, successfully treated with systemic corticosteroids, and discussed previously reported cases, focusing on differential diagnosis with a central serous chorioretinopathy.

BACKGROUND: Because of their cancer and treatment adverse effects, most pediatric oncology patients will experience 1 or more symptoms at one time that can seriously affect their quality of life. Because these children are attached to parents, their symptom burden directly influences the parental stress level and parental interpretations of their children's quality of life. OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to examine the association between child-reported symptom burden and the pediatric quality of life reported by children with cancer and their parents, and whether parental perceived stress mediates these relationships. METHODS: In a cross-sectional design, convenience sampling was used to recruit 80 parent-child dyads. Advanced statistical methods were adopted to analyze the mediating effects of parental stress between children's symptom burden and their quality of life. RESULTS: The results revealed that parental stress was the mediator in the relationship between child-reported symptom burden and children's quality of life reported by parents. The results also showed that parental stress was not a mediator in the relationship between child-reported symptom burden and their quality of life. This underscored the differences in interpretations of quality of life reported by children and their parents. CONCLUSION: Children's symptom burden is an important factor in predicting parental stress level and the quality of life reported by the children. Children's voice should be incorporated whenever possible. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: The knowledge gained from this study will facilitate intervention development to enhance parents' abilities in stress management and symptom management for their children with the support of the nursing profession.

Circadian rhythm disorder (CRD) in space flight can lead to memory impairment, performance decrements and adverse health outcomes, the main manifestations of which are circadian desynchronization, sleep loss and insomnia. Sleep deprivation (SD) provide the means to evaluate these effects and the risks associated with CRD on ground. Gastrodia elata Blume (GEB) has beneficial effects on the treatment of sleep disturbances and memory loss. Fresh GEB (FG), an unprocessed raw tuber of GEB, has been used as functional health food in Asian countries for a long time. However, the research report of FG to ameliorate memory impairment caused by insomnia or lack of sleep is meager. In this study, ICR male mice were sleep-deprived continuously and water extract of FG (WFG) was orally administrated (3 and 9 g/kg/d, i.g) during the SD process lasted for 25 days, except control and model groups gavage administration with water, positive control group with modafinil (MOD, 0.1 g/kg/d, i.g). We studied the effect of WFG on CRD-induced learning and memory impairment using a set of behavioral analyses including the object location recognition test (OLRT), novel object recognition test (NORT), and the passive avoidance test (PAT). In addition, oxidative stress parameters were assessed by measuring the malondialdehyde (MDA) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) reactivity in serum and hippocampus. Our results revealed that SD decreased discrimination index (DI) in OLRT and NORT, with shorter latency into the dark chamber in PAT. Both WFG and MOD treatment can reverse these changes (P < 0.05). We concluded that WFG treatment improve CRD-induced learning and memory impairment and oxidative stress damage which makes FG a promising candidate as herbal health product of memory decline in CRD.

Placenta-specific protein 9 (PLAC9) is a putative secretory protein that was initially identified in the placenta and is involved in cell proliferation and motility. Bioinformatics analyses revealed that PLAC9 is repressed in lung cancers (LCs), especially lung adenocarcinomas, compared to that in the paired adjacent normal tissues, indicating that PLAC9 might be involved in the pathogenesis of pulmonary diseases. To investigate the potential role of PLAC9 in the abnormal reprogramming of airway epithelial cells (AECs), a key cause of pulmonary diseases, we constructed a stable PLAC9-overexpressing human bronchial epithelial cell line (16HBE-GFP-Plac9). We utilized the proteomic approach isobaric tag for relative and absolute quantification (iTRAQ) to analyze the effect of PLAC9 on cellular protein composition. Gene ontology (GO) and pathway analyses revealed that GO terms and pathways associated with cell proliferation, cell cycle progression, and cell motility and migration were significantly enriched among the proteins regulated by PLAC9. Our in vitro results showed that PLAC9 overexpression reduced cell proliferation, altered cell cycle progression, and increased cell motility, including migration and invasion. Our findings suggest that PLAC9 inhibits cell proliferation through S phase arrest by altering the expression levels of cyclin/cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) and promotes cell motility, likely via the concerted actions of cyclins, E-cadherin, and vimentin. Since these mechanisms may underlie PLAC9-mediated abnormal human bronchial pathogenesis, our study provides a basis for the development of molecular targeted treatments for LCs.

OBJECTIVE: To detecte the carrying rate, the type and distribution of α-Thalassemia gene mutation in Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, and analyze the differences in average erythrocyte volume (MCV), mean erythrocyte hemoglobin content (MCH) and hemoglobin among different types of α-Thalassemia. METHODS: The DNA samples from small cell hypochromic carriers or anemia patients and women of childbearing age who underwent hematological screening in The First People's Hospital of Honghe State was from 2015 to 2019 were enrolled and analyzed, and the mutation types and frequency of alpha-thalassemia positive rate were diagnosed by PCR reverse dot blot or PCR fluorescence dissolution curve. RESULTS: Among the 1 016 samples, 141(13.88%) of the patients were diagnosed as α-thalassemia. The α-thalassemia was subdivided into 3 types, silent (36.17%), minor (51.77%), and HbH disease (12.06%), and the MCV, MCH and HB levels were detected and showed a obvious decrease trend with significant difference (P < 0.05). The gene mutation types were 9 kinds, the deletion type gene was mainly --SEA (51.06%), followed by -α3.7/αα deletion (29.79%), the α- mutation type gene was mainly αcsα(3.55%). The absence of complex heterozygote was most common, which was 17 cases, accounting for 12.77%, mainly --SEA/-α3.7 (10.64%). The areas were mainly distributed in Mengzi (47.52%), followed by Jinping (17.02%). Ethnic groups were mainly distributed in Han nationality (49.65%), followed by Zhuang (15.60%), Yi (3.48%) and Dai (7.09%). The patients with double heterozygous mutation was slightly higher in Mengzi than that in Jinping County (4.26% vs 3.55%), the Dai (2.13%) showed Zhuang ethnic group (2.13%) had the relatively high incidence except the Hans, and showed the most serious anemia. CONCLUSION: Alpha-thalassemia in Honghe prefecture of Yunnan Province shows complex genetic diversity and significant genetic heterogeneity, and the mainly type of gene mutation is --SEA and --SEA/-α3.7, which is mainly distributed in Han, Zhuang and Dai ethnic groups in Mengzi, Jinping. The anemia index of HbH group is the most obvious, and it is significantly different from other groups.

Oscillating chemical fingerprint is a nonlinear dynamic fingerprint technology that reflects the overall redox activity of the entire system based on potential-time changes in multi-stage chemical reactions. This article summarizes the application of oscillating chemical fingerprint technology combined with mathematical analysis method in the qualitative and quantitative analysis of traditional Chinese medicine and food in recent years, including similarity analysis, principal component analysis, cluster analysis and other qua-litative analysis methods, as well as linear, logarithmic, exponential, polynomial, multivariate analysis and other quantitative analysis methods, so as to provide meaningful information for further quality control analysis of the oscillation chemical fingerprint technology in the field of traditional Chinese medicine and food.

Ginsenoside Rb1 (Rb1) is one of the most active components found in ginseng and provides important benefits to the central nervous system, especially for the improvement of learning and memory. Previous studies demonstrated that Rb1 protected against scopolamine-induced amnesia and exhibited memory-enhancing effects in the SAMP8 mouse model. However, the effects of Rb1 against chronic restraint stress (CRS)-induced cognitive impairments, especially the role of Rg1 on the performance of reward directed instrumental conditioning have not been investigated. In this study, rats were subjected to CRS (6 h/day) for 28 days. Thereafter, behavioural tests including reward-directed instrumental conditioning task (RICT) and the Morris water maze (MWM) task were conducted. Administered of Rb1 (6.75 and 13.5 mg/kg, i.p.) remarkably ameliorated the memory impairments caused by CRS as evident from the results of RICT and MWM task, and this effect was accompanied by noticeable alterations in the levels of oxidative markers (superoxide dismutase, catalase, and lipid peroxidation) in the hippocampus. Additionally, Rb1 reduced the ratio of Bax:Bcl-2 and the expression of cleaved caspase-3 and cleaved caspase-9, increased the levels of synaptophysin (SYP) and postsynaptic density 95 (PSD95) and activated the BDNF/TrkB pathway in the hippocampus. In summary, the present study demonstrated that Rb1 rescues cognitive deficits induced by CRS is partially mediated by antagonizing oxidative stress and apoptosis, improving synaptic plasticity and restoring the BDNF/TrkB signalling pathway. This newly discovered effect of Rb1 sheds light on its applications in the development of therapeutic interventions to alleviate the deleterious effects of chronic stress.

Supramolecular hydrogels are attracting soft materials with potential applications. In this study, we synthesized a facile gelator (named 2-QF) based on phenylalanine derivative with a Quinoline group. 2-QF can assemble to form hydrogels at room temperature in different colors under low pH values. Moreover, 2-QF was triggered to form a yellow metallohydrogel (2-QF-Zn) at high pH by the coordination between 2-QF and Zn2+. 2-QF-Zn metallohydrogel showed excellent multi-stimuli responsiveness, especially the reversible "on-off" luminescence switching, as induced by base/acid. In addition, at a low concentration, 2-QF can selectively and visibly identify Zn2+ through fluorescence enhancement, and can detect Zn2+ at physiological pH as a chemosensor. Remarkably, 2-QF and 2-QF-Zn exhibited an excellent biocompatibility without cell cytotoxicity, and 2-QF is able to penetrate live HeLa cells and image intracellular Zn2+ by a turn-on fluorescent response, which makes it a potential candidate for biomedical applications.

Background: This study evaluates the feasibility, safety, and clinical results of the self-pulling and latter transected delta-shaped anastomosis (Delta SPLT) in totally laparoscopic distal gastrectomy (TLDG) for gastric cancer. Methods: We performed a retrospective study of 66 patients with gastric cancer undergoing laparoscopic distal gastrectomy with Billroth-I anastomosis from May 2017 to December 2018 in Zhoushan Hospital. TLDG with Delta SPLT was carried out in 26 patients (Group 1), and TLDG with conventional delta-shaped anastomosis (DA) was performed in 40 patients (Group 2). Statistical analysis was conducted to compare clinical data between the two groups. Results: All patients successfully underwent TLDG. There were no significant differences between the two groups in terms of demographic indicators, operation time, anastomosis time, intraoperative blood loss, number of lymph nodes harvested, and resection margin (all P > .05). The gastrointestinal functional evaluation index (first flatus, first liquid/semigeneral diet foods, and out-of-bed mobilization) and hospital stay did not differ between the two groups, but the mean hospital charges were significantly lower in Group 1 than in Group 2 (P < .05). No difference was observed in the overall postoperative complication rate (P > .05). However, Group 1 had a lower incidence of complications associated with anastomosis (3.8%, versus 7.5% in Group 2; P = .016). Conclusions: Delta SPLT is potentially a safe, feasible, and reproducible reconstruction option for TLDG, and was superior to conventional DA in terms of hospital charges and complications related to anastomosis.

INTRODUCTION: The typical manifestations of patients with a trisomy 21 syndrome are mental retardation and anatomical deformities of face and neck. In the available literature, all case reports regarding anesthetic management of mentally retarded patients have focused on elective surgeries. There is no report regarding anesthetic management of mentally retarded patients undergoing emergency surgery. PATIENT CONCERNS: A 47-year-old woman with a mental retardation grade 2 by trisomy 21 syndrome suffered from an esophageal foreign body for 3 days and needed emergency removal of esophageal foreign body. The patient had a poor cooperation and obvious anatomical abnormalities of head and neck. DIAGNOSES: Difficult anesthesia and airway managements for emergency removal of esophageal foreign bodies in a trisomy 21patients with mental retardation and predicted difficult airways. INTERVENTIONS: Combined use of an intubating supraglottic airway and the flexible bronchoscope-guided intubation after intravenous anesthesia induction. OUTCOMES: Effective airway was safely established and an esophageal foreign body was successfully removed by rigid esophagoscopy under anesthesia. The patient recovered smoothly without any complication. LESSONS SUBSECTIONS AS PER STYLE: When general anesthesia and emergency airway management are required in the patients with mental retardation and predicted difficult airways, a combination of the supraglottic airway and the flexible bronchoscope maybe a safe and useful choice for airway control.

RESUMO

A highly enantioselective cyclopropanation to synthesize pyrimidine-substituted diester D-A cyclopropanes is reported. Various N1-vinylpyrimidines react well with phenyliodonium ylides, delivering chiral cyclopropanes in up to 97% yield with up to 99% ee. Through simple [3+2] annulation with benzaldehyde or ethyl glyoxylate, different chiral pyrimidine nucleoside analogues with a sugar ring could be obtained.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate and study the related risk factors of gastric cancer (GC) patients, to establish a high-risk scoring model of GC by multiple logistic regression analysis, and to explore the establishment of a GC screening mode with clinical opportunistic screening as the main method, and by using the pattern of opportunistic screening to establish the screening of high-risk GC patients and the choice of screening methods in the clinical outpatient work. METHODS: Collected the epidemiological questionnaire of 99 GC cases and 284 non-GC patients (other chronic gastric diseases and normal) diagnosed by the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University from October 2017 to March 2019. Serum pepsinogen (PG) levels were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and confirmed Helicobacter pylori (Hp) infection in gastric mucosa tissues by Giemsa staining. Determined the high-risk factors and established a scoring model through unconditional logistic regression model analysis, and the ROC curve determined the cut-off value. Then, we followed up 26 patients of nongastric cancer patients constituted a validation group, which validated the model. RESULTS: The high-risk factors of GC included age ≥ 55, male, drinking cellar or well water, family history of GC, Hp infection, PGI ≤ 43.6 µg/L, and PGI/PGII ≤ 2.1. Established the high-risk model: Y = A × age + 30 × gender + 30 × drinking water + 30 × Hp infection + 50 × family history of GC + B × PG level. The ROC curve determined that the cut-off value for high-risk GC population was ≥155, and the area under the curve (AUC) was 0.875, the sensitivity and specificity were 87.9% and 71.5%. CONCLUSIONS: According to the risk factors of GC, using statistical methods can establish a high-risk scoring model of GC, and the score ≥ 155 is divided into the screening cut-off value for high-risk GC population. Using this model for clinical outpatient GC screening is cost-effective and has high sensitivity and specificity.
