BACKGROUND: Neonates with immature auditory function (eg, weak/absent middle ear muscle reflex) could conceivably be vulnerable to noise-induced hearing loss; however, it is unclear if neonates show evidence of hearing loss following MRI acoustic noise exposure. PURPOSE: To explore the auditory effects of MRI acoustic noise in neonates. STUDY TYPE: Prospective. SUBJECTS: Two independent cohorts of neonates (N = 19 and N = 18; mean gestational-age, 38.75 ± 2.18 and 39.01 ± 1.83 weeks). FIELD STRENGTH/SEQUENCE: T1-weighted three-dimensional gradient-echo sequence, T2-weighted fast spin-echo sequence, single-shot echo-planar imaging-based diffusion-tensor imaging, single-shot echo-planar imaging-based diffusion-kurtosis imaging and T2-weighted fluid-attenuated inversion recovery sequence at 3.0 T. ASSESSMENT: All neonates wore ear protection during scan protocols lasted ~40 minutes. Equivalent sound pressure levels (SPLs) were measured for both cohorts. In cohort1, left- and right-ear auditory brainstem response (ABR) was measured before (baseline) and after (follow-up) MRI, included assessment of ABR threshold, wave I, III and V latencies and interpeak interval to determine the functional status of auditory nerve and brainstem. In cohort2, baseline and follow-up left- and right-ear distortion product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) amplitudes were assessed at 1.2 to 7.0 kHz to determine cochlear function. STATISTICAL TEST: Wilcoxon signed-rank or paired t-tests with Bonferroni's correction were used to compare the differences between baseline and follow-up ABR and DPOAE measures. RESULTS: Equivalent SPLs ranged from 103.5 to 113.6 dBA. No significant differences between baseline and follow-up were detected in left- or right-ear ABR measures (P > 0.999, Bonferroni corrected) in cohort1, or in DPOAE levels at 1.2 to 7.0 kHz in cohort2 (all P > 0.999 Bonferroni corrected except for left-ear levels at 3.5 and 7.0 kHz with corrected P = 0.138 and P = 0.533). DATA CONCLUSION: A single 40-minute 3-T MRI with equivalent SPLs of 103.5-113.6 dBA did not result in significant transient disruption of auditory function, as measured by ABR and DPOAE, in neonates with adequate hearing protection. EVIDENCE LEVEL: 2. TECHNICAL EFFICACY: Stage 5.

2-naphthylamine (NAP) was classified as a group I carcinogen associated with bladder cancer. The daily exposure is mostly from cigarette and E-cigarette smoke. NAP can lead to testicular atrophy and interstitial tissue hyperplasia; however, the outcomes of NAP treatment on spermatogenesis and the associated mechanisms have not been reported. The study aimed to investigate the effect of NAP on spermatogenesis and sperm physiologic functions after being persistently exposed to NAP at 5, 20, and 40 mg/kg for 35 days. We found that sperm motility, progressive motility, sperm average path velocity, and straight-line velocity declined remarkably in the NAP (40 mg/kg) treated group, and the sperm deformation rate rose upon NAP administration. The testis immunity- and lipid metabolism-associated processes were enriched from RNA-sequence profiling. Plvap, Ccr7, Foxn1, Trim29, Sirpb1c, Cfd, and Lpar4 involved in testis immunity and Pnliprp1 that inhibit triglyceride and cholesterol absorption were confirmed to rise dramatically in the NAP-exposed group. The increased total cholesterol and CD68 levels were observed in the testis from the NAP-exposed group. Gpx5, serving as an antioxidant in sperm plasma, and Semg1, which contributes to sperm progressive motility, were both down-regulated. We concluded that the short-term exposure to NAP caused reproductive toxicity, primarily due to the inflammatory abnormality in the testis.

Posttraumatic osteoarthritis (PTOA) patients are often diagnosed by X-ray imaging at a middle-late stage when drug interventions are less effective. Early PTOA is characterized by overexpressed matrix metalloprotease 13 (MMP13). Herein, we constructed an integrated diagnosis and treatment micelle modified with MMP13 enzyme-detachable, cyanine 5 (Cy5)-containing PEG, black hole quencher-3 (BHQ3), and cRGD ligands and loaded with siRNA silencing MMP13 (siM13), namely ERMs@siM13. ERMs@siM13 could be cleaved by MMP13 in the diseased cartilage tissues to detach the PEG shell, causing cRGD exposure. Accordingly, the ligand exposure promoted micelle uptake by the diseased chondrocytes by binding to cell surface αvß3 integrin, increasing intracellular siM13 delivery for on-demand MMP13 downregulation. Meanwhile, the Cy5 fluorescence was restored by detaching from the BHQ3-containing micelle, precisely reflecting the diseased cartilage state. In particular, the intensity of Cy5 fluorescence generated by ERMs@siM13 that hinged on the MMP13 levels could reflect the PTOA severity, enabling the physicians to adjust the therapeutic regimen. Finally, in the murine PTOA model, ERMs@siM13 could diagnose the early-stage PTOA, perform timely interventions, and monitor the OA progression level during treatment through a real-time detection of MMP13. Therefore, ERMs@siM13 represents an appealing approach for early-stage PTOA theranostics.

The significance of point-of-care testing (POCT) in early clinical diagnosis and personalized patient care is increasingly recognized as a crucial tool in reducing disease outbreaks and improving patient survival rates. Within the realm of POCT, biosensors utilizing magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) have emerged as a subject of substantial interest. This review aims to provide a comprehensive evaluation of the current landscape of POCT, emphasizing its growing significance within clinical practice. Subsequently, the current status of the combination of MNPs in the Biological detection has been presented. Furthermore, it delves into the specific domain of MNP-based biosensors, assessing their potential impact on POCT. By combining existing research and spotlighting pivotal discoveries, this review enhances our comprehension of the advancements and promising prospects offered by MNP-based biosensors in the context of POCT. It seeks to facilitate informed decision-making among healthcare professionals and researchers while also promoting further exploration in this promising field of study.

Progressive neuronal dysfunction and death are key features of neurodegenerative diseases; therefore, promoting neurogenesis in neurodegenerative diseases is crucial. With advancements in proteomics and high-throughput sequencing technology, it has been demonstrated that histone post-transcriptional modifications (PTMs) are often altered during neurogenesis when the brain is affected by disease or external stimuli and that the degree of histone modification is closely associated with the development of neurodegenerative diseases. This review aimed to show the regulatory role of histone modifications in neurogenesis and neurodegenerative diseases by discussing the changing patterns and functional significance of histone modifications, including histone methylation, acetylation, ubiquitination, phosphorylation, and lactylation. Finally, we explored the control of neurogenesis and the development of neurodegenerative diseases by artificially modulating histone modifications.

Umami peptides are known for enhancing the taste experience by binding to oral umami T1R1 and T1R3 receptors. Among them, small peptides (composed of 2-4 amino acids) constitute nearly 40% of reported umami peptides. Given the diversity in amino acids and peptide sequences, umami small peptides possess tremendous untapped potential. By investigating 168,400 small peptides, we screened candidates binding to T1R1/T1R3 through molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations, explored bonding types, amino acid characteristics, preferred binding sites, etc. Utilizing three-dimensional molecular descriptors, bonding information, and a back-propagation neural network, we developed a predictive model with 90.3% accuracy, identifying 24,539 potential umami peptides. Clustering revealed three classes with distinct logP (-2.66 ± 1.02, -3.52 ± 0.93, -2.44 ± 1.23) and asphericity (0.28 ± 0.12, 0.26 ± 0.11, 0.25 ± 0.11), indicating significant differences in shape and hydrophobicity (P < 0.05) among potential umami peptides binding to T1R1/T1R3. Following clustering, nine representative peptides (CQ, DP, NN, CSQ, DMC, TGS, DATE, HANR, and STAN) were synthesized and confirmed to possess umami taste through sensory evaluations and electronic tongue analyses. In summary, this study provides insights into exploring small peptide interactions with umami receptors, advancing umami peptide prediction models.

The order Hymenoptera is one of the most species-rich insect orders, with more than 150,000 described extant species. Many hymenopteran insects have very different mitochondrial genome (mitogenome) organizations compared to the putative ancestral organization of insects. In this study, we sequenced 18 mitogenomes of representatives in the order Hymenoptera to increase taxonomic sampling. A total of 475 species were used in phylogenetic analyses, including 18 new mitogenomes and 457 existing mitogenomes. Using a site-heterogeneous model, Bayesian's inference from amino acid data yielded more resolved relationships among Hymenoptera than maximum-likelihood analysis and coalescent-based species analyses. The monophyly of Symphyta was not supported. The Xyeloidea was the earliest branching clade in the Hymenoptera. The Orussoidea was closely related to Apocrita. Within Apocrita, the Parasitoida was non-monophyletic. The monophyly of most Parasitoida superfamilies received strong support. The Proctotrupomorpha clade was supported in Bayesian's analysis. The Apoidea was monophyletic when excluding Ampulex compressa from consideration. The superfamilies Vespoidea and Chrysidoidea were found to be non-monophyletic. Comparisons of mitochondrial gene order revealed a higher frequency of gene rearrangement among lineages with a parasitoid lifestyle, particularly prominent in Chalcidoidea. The degree of gene rearrangement ranked second in specific taxa of Cynipoidea and Ichneumonoidea.

BACKGROUND: Vessels encapsulating tumor clusters (VETC) pattern of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) are associated with unfavorable prognosis. This study aimed to establish a nomogram model to predict VETC patterns based on preoperative CT imaging features. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Patients who underwent surgical resection between January 1, 2016 and August 31, 2022 were retrospectively included. Predictors associated with VETC pattern were determined by using logistic regression analyses, and a nomogram model was constructed. Prognostic factors associated with recurrence-free survival (RFS) after surgical resection were identified by using Cox regression analyses. RESULTS: A total of 84 patients were included for CT analysis. All patients underwent radical surgical resection. AST/ALT >1.07(odds ratio [OR], 4.91; 95 â€‹% CI: 1.11, 21.68; P â€‹< â€‹0.05), intratumoral necrosis (OR, 4.99; 95 â€‹% CI: 1.25, 19.99; P â€‹< â€‹0.05) and enhancing capsule (OR, 3.32; 95 â€‹% CI: 1.27, 8.94; P â€‹< â€‹0.05) were independent predictors of VETC pattern. These features were used for the construction of nomogram model, which showed comparable prediction performance, with AUC value of 0.767 (95%CI [0.662, 0.852]). CK19 status (Hazard ratio [HR], 2.02; 95 â€‹% CI: 1.06, 3.86; P â€‹< â€‹0.05), the number of tumors (HR, 3.31; 95 â€‹% CI: 1.47, 7.45; P â€‹< â€‹0.05) and VETC pattern (HR, 2.52; 95 â€‹% CI: 1.31, 4.86; P â€‹< â€‹0.05) were independent predictors of postoperative RFS. CONCLUSION: A nomogram model based on preoperative CT imaging features could be used for the characterization of VETC pattern, and has prognostic significance for postoperative RFS in patients with HCC.

In order to characterize and identify the chemical components in different parts of Artemisia argyi(roots, stems, leaves, and seeds), compounds with antioxidant activity were screened. In this study, ultra-performance liquid chromatography-2,2'-azino-bis(3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) diammonium salt-quadrupole time-of-flight-tandem mass spectrometry(UPLC-ABTS-Q-TOF-MS) was used as an online combination technique. Poroshell 120 SB-Aq(3.0 mm×150 mm, 2.7 µm) was used as the column, and acetonitrile(A)-0.2% formic acid water(B) was adopted as the mobile phase to perform gradient elution and was scanned in positive and negative ion modes. MassLynx software was utilized, and combined with reference substances and related literature, the chemical components of different parts of A. argyi were identified and compared. The antioxidant active components were detected by using the online detection system, and the antioxidant activities of active components of different parts of A. argyi were compared and evaluated by scavenging efficiency. As a result, a total of 87 compounds were identified from extracts of different parts of A. argyi, and 38, 72, 85, and 33 components were identified from roots, stems, leaves, and seeds. 22 compounds with antioxidant activity were screened, and 14, 17, 20, and 11 compounds with antioxidant activity were identified from roots, stems, leaves, and seeds. The results show that there are certain differences in chemical components and antioxidant components of different parts of A. argyi, which provides data support for the resource utilization and further research and development of A. argyi.

Central nervous system (CNS) damage is usually irreversible owing to the limited regenerative capability of neurons. Following CNS injury, astrocytes are reactively activated and are the key cells involved in post-injury repair mechanisms. Consequently, research on the reprogramming of reactive astrocytes into neurons could provide new directions for the restoration of neural function after CNS injury and in the promotion of recovery in various neurodegenerative diseases. This review aims to provide an overview of the means through which reactive astrocytes around lesions can be reprogrammed into neurons, to elucidate the intrinsic connection between the two cell types from a neurogenesis perspective, and to summarize what is known about the neurotranscription factors, small-molecule compounds and MicroRNA that play major roles in astrocyte reprogramming. As the malignant proliferation of astrocytes promotes the development of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), this review also examines the research advances on and the theoretical basis for the reprogramming of GBM cells into neurons and discusses the advantages of such approaches over traditional treatment modalities. This comprehensive review provides new insights into the field of GBM therapy and theoretical insights into the mechanisms of neurological recovery following neurological injury and in GBM treatment.

Activating multielectron reactions of sodium superionic conductor (NASICON)-type cathodes toward higher energy density remains imperative to boost their application feasibility. However, multisodium storage with high stability is difficult to achieve due to the sluggish reaction kinetics, irreversible phase transitions, and negative structural degradation. Herein, a kind of NASICON-type Na2.5V1.5Ti0.5(PO4)3/C (NVTP-0.5) hierarchical microsphere consisting of abundant primary nanoparticles is designed, realizing a reversible 3.2-electron reaction with high stability. The optimized NVTP-0.5 cathode demonstrates an ultrahigh discharge capacity of 192.42 mAh g-1, energy density of up to 497.3 Wh kg-1 at 20 mA g-1, and capacity retention ratio of 94.1% after 1000 cycles at 1 A g-1. Additionally, the NVTP-0.5 cathode delivers excellent tolerance to extreme temperatures while also achieving a high-energy density of 400 Wh kg-1 (based on the cathode mass) in a full-cell configuration. Systematic in situ/ex situ analysis results confirm the multisodium storage processes of NVTP-0.5 involving successive redox reactions (V2+/V3+, Ti3+/Ti4+, and V3+/V4+ redox couples) and reversible structure evolution (solid-solution and biphasic mechanisms), which contribute to the high capacity and excellent cycling stability. This work indicates that the rational regulation of components with different functions can unlock more possibilities for the development of NASICON-type cathodes.

BACKGROUND: Vessels encapsulating tumor clusters (VETC) is a novel vascular pattern distinct from microvascular invasion that is significantly associated with poor prognosis in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study aimed to predict the VETC pattern and prognosis of patients with HCC based on preoperative gadolinium-ethoxybenzyl-diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (Gd-EOB-DTPA) magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). METHODS: Patients with HCC who underwent surgical resection and preoperative Gd-EOB-DTPA MRI between January 1, 2016 and August 31, 2022 were retrospectively included. The variables associated with VETC were evaluated using logistic regression. A nomogram model was constructed on the basis of independent risk factors. COX regression was used to determine the variables associated with recurrence-free survival (RFS). RESULTS: A total of 98 patients with HCC were retrospectively included. Peritumoral hypointensity on the hepatobiliary phase (HBP) (odd ratio [OR], 2.58; 95% CI, 1.05-6.33; P = .04), tumor-to-liver signal intensity ratio on HBP of ≤0.75 (OR, 27.80; 95% CI, 1.53-502.91; P = .02), and tumor-to-liver apparent diffusion coefficient ratio of ≤1.23 (OR, 4.65; 95% CI, 1.01-21.38; P = .04) were independent predictors of VETC pattern. A nomogram was constructed by combining the aforementioned 3 significant variables. The accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity were 69.79%, 71.74%, and 68.00%, respectively, with an area under the receiver operating characteristic curve of 0.75 (95% CI, 0.65-0.83). The variables significantly associated with RFS of patients with HCC after surgery were Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer stage (hazard ratio [HR], 2.15; 95% CI, 1.09-4.22; P = .03) and VETC pattern (HR, 2.28; 95% CI, 1.29-4.02; P = .004). CONCLUSION: The preoperative imaging features based on Gd-EOB-DTPA MRI can be used to predict the VETC pattern, which has prognostic significance for postoperative RFS of patients with HCC.

In this study, we employed high-throughput sequencing technology to determine the complete mitochondrial genomes of six ground beetles, encompassing five Harpalinae species and one Carabinae species. The sizes of mitochondrial genomes ranged from 15,334 to 16,972 bp, encompassing 37 genes, including 13 protein-coding genes, 22 transfer RNA genes, and 2 ribosomal RNA genes. Furthermore, each species was found to possess a putative control region. Combining with 65 published mitochondrial genome sequences of Carabidae as ingroups and four species from Trachypachidae, Gyrinidae and Dytiscidae as outgroups, we conducted phylogenetic analyses utilizing Maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference methods. Moreover, we reconstructed a species tree of Carabidae based on mitochondrial genome data using the coalescent-based species tree method (ASTRAL). The results revealed that the family Carabidae was not a monophyletic group. The subfamily Harpalinae was supported to be a monophyletic group in Maximum likelihood analysis. Although the subfamily Carabinae was found to be nonmonophyletic in the concatenation analyses under both Maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference criteria, it was identified as a monophyletic group in the species tree analysis.

Cynoglossum amabile, a member of the Boraginaceae family, is a well-known traditional Chinese medicine and ethnomedicine known as Daotihu. Despite several studies confirming the presence of bioactive pyrrolizidine alkaloids such as amabiline, ambelline, echinatine, europine, and others in C. amabile, there has been no comprehensive review of its traditional uses, phytochemistry, and pharmacology thus far. This review was conducted by thoroughly examining the literature and analyzing network databases. It covers various aspects of C. amabile, including botanical characteristics, geographical distribution, traditional applications, phytochemistry, pharmacological activities, toxicology, and clinical applications. The results have shown that C. amabile has been traditionally used for medicinal, edible, and ornamental purposes in China for many centuries. The whole plant, root, and leaf of C. amabile are used by different ethnic groups, such as Lisu, Bai, Naxi, Yi, Jinuo, and Han, to treat malaria, hepatitis, dysentery, leucorrhea, tuberculosis cough, fracture, joint dislocation, trauma bleeding, and skin carbuncle abscess. A total of 47 chemical components, including alkaloids (pyrrolizidine alkaloids, PAs), sterols, organic acids, and saccharides, were isolated from C. amabile. Pharmacological studies show that the chemical extracts of C. amabile possess various biological activities, such as anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor, anti-microbial, cardiovascular effects, ganglionic action, and acetylcholinesterase inhibition. However, it is important to note that C. amabile exhibits hepatotoxicity, with its toxicity being linked to its primary PAs components. Although preliminary studies suggest potential applications in the treatment of prostate diseases and alopecia, further research is needed to validate these clinical uses. Our review highlights the traditional uses, phytochemistry, biological activity, toxicity, and clinical applications of C. amabile. It emphasizes the essential guiding role of the indigenous medicinal knowledge system in developing new drugs. Previous studies have shown that the phytochemical and pharmacological characteristics of C. amabile are significantly related to its traditional medicinal practices. Cynoglossum amabile has excellent market potential and can be further analyzed in terms of phytochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology, which are critical for its clinical drug safety, quality evaluation, and resource development.

Addressing large bone defects remains a significant challenge owing to the inherent limitations in self-healing capabilities, resulting in prolonged recovery and suboptimal regeneration. Although current clinical solutions are available, they have notable shortcomings, necessitating more efficacious approaches to bone regeneration. Organoids derived from stem cells show great potential in this field; however, the development of bone organoids has been hindered by specific demands, including the need for robust mechanical support provided by scaffolds and hybrid extracellular matrices (ECM). In this context, bioprinting technologies have emerged as powerful means of replicating the complex architecture of bone tissue. The research focused on the fabrication of a highly intricate bone ECM analog using a novel bioink composed of gelatin methacrylate/alginate methacrylate/hydroxyapatite (GelMA/AlgMA/HAP). Bioprinted scaffolds facilitate the long-term cultivation and progressive maturation of extensive bioprinted bone organoids, foster multicellular differentiation, and offer valuable insights into the initial stages of bone formation. The intrinsic self-mineralizing quality of the bioink closely emulates the properties of natural bone, empowering organoids with enhanced bone repair for both in vitro and in vivo applications. This trailblazing investigation propels the field of bone tissue engineering and holds significant promise for its translation into practical applications.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the diagnostic, risk stratification, and prognostic capabilities of apelin-13 and APJ in comparison to procalcitonin (PCT) for septic patients presenting to the emergency department (ED). Methods: Two hundred and thirty-eight patients meeting the Third International Consensus Definition (Sepsis-3) criteria were enrolled from Beijing Chaoyang Hospital's ED, along with a control group of forty healthy individuals. Patients were categorized into two groups based on disease severity: those with sepsis or septic shock. Plasma levels of apelin-13, CD4+ Th cells, and PCT were measured. The expression levels of plasma APJ mRNA were quantified using real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR (RT-qPCR) methodology. The Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score was determined at the time of enrollment. The prognostic values of apelin-13 and APJ was evaluated in comparison to that of PCT and the SOFA score. All patients were followed up for a duration of 28 days. Results: The plasma concentrations of apelin-13 and APJ exhibited a positive correlation with the severity of sepsis, while the number of CD4+ T cells decreased in septic patients. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic (AUC) curves for apelin-13 and APJ in the diagnosis and prediction of 28-day mortality were greater than that of PCT. In non-survivors at the 28-day follow-up, the plasma levels of apelin-13 and APJ were significantly higher compared to survivors. Furthermore, apelin-13 levels were notably higher in cases of sepsis-induced cardiomyopathy (SICM) than in those without SICM. Apelin-13 and APJ emerged as independent predictors of 28-day mortality among septic patients. Conclusions: Apelin-13 and APJ demonstrate value in the assessment of risk stratification, early diagnosis, and prognosis of sepsis in the ED. Apelin-13 also proves to be an effective biomarker for assessing the prognosis of SICM in the ED. Sepsis may lead to immune function suppression.

BACKGROUND: Hepatic cystic and alveolar echinococcosis coinfections, particularly with concurrent abscesses and sinus tract formation, are extremely rare. This article presents a case of a patient diagnosed with this unique presentation, discussing the typical imaging manifestations of both echinococcosis types and detailing the diagnosis and surgical treatment experience thereof. CASE SUMMARY: A 39-year-old Tibetan woman presented with concurrent hepatic cystic and alveolar echinococcosis, accompanied by abdominal wall abscesses and sinus tract formation. Initial conventional imaging examinations suggested only hepatic cystic echinococcosis, but intraoperative and postoperative pathological examination revealed the coinfection. Following radical resection of the lesions, the patient's condition improved, and she was discharged soon thereafter. Subsequent outpatient follow-ups confirmed no recurrence of the hydatid lesion and normal surgical wound healing. Though mixed hepatic cystic and alveolar echinococcosis with abdominal wall abscesses and sinus tract formations are rare, the general treatment approach remains consistent with that of simpler infections of alveolar echinococcosis. CONCLUSION: Lesions involving the abdominal wall and sinus tract formation, may require radical resection. Long-term prognosis includes albendazole and follow-up examinations.

BACKGROUND: Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) is a psychotherapy technique, which promotes psychological flexibility and enables patients to change behaviors based on value-directed goals. However, the beneficial effects of ACT on glycemic control, self-care behaviors, acceptance of diabetes, self-efficacy, and psychological burden are still unclear among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). AIMS: This study aimed to systematically synthesize scientific evidence to determine the effectiveness of ACT among patients with T2DM on glycemic control, self-care behaviors, acceptance of diabetes, self-efficacy, and psychological burden and identify the optimal characteristics of effective interventions. METHODS: Nine electronic databases were searched to identify eligible studies of randomized controlled trials from inception to June 2023. Two reviewers independently assessed the study eligibility, extracted the data, and performed the quality appraisal using the Cochrane Risk of Bias 2 Tool. The meta-analysis was conducted using Review Manager 5.3. The certainty of the evidence was rated using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation system. RESULTS: Ten studies involving 712 participants were included. ACT demonstrated significant improvements on patients' glycemic control (mean difference [MD]: 0.95%; p < .001), self-care behaviors (MD: 1.86; p = .03), diabetes acceptance (MD: 7.80; p < .001), self-efficacy (standardized mean difference [SMD]: 1.04; p < .001), anxiety (SMD: -1.15; p = .006), and depression (SMD: -1.10; p = .04). However, favorable but nonsignificant improvements were found in diabetes distress. Subgroup analyses demonstrated that ACT offered more than five sessions using individualized format, with theoretical underpinnings and professional input from multidisciplinary therapists are recommended to yield better results on glycemic control and self-care behaviors. LINKING EVIDENCE TO ACTION: Acceptance and commitment therapy could generate beneficial effectiveness on glycemic control, self-care behaviors, acceptance of diabetes, self-efficacy, anxiety, and depression among patients with T2DM. Large-scale trials with rigorous design and representative samples are warranted to strengthen the current evidence.

The mitogenome sequence data have been widely used in inferring the phylogeny of insects. In this study, we determined the complete mitogenome for Macrotermes sp. (Termitidae, Macrotermitinae) using next-generation sequencing. Macrotermes sp. possesses a typical insect mitogenome, displaying an identical gene order and gene content to other existing termite mitogenomes. We present the first prediction of the secondary structure of ribosomal RNA genes in termites. The rRNA secondary structures of Macrotermes sp. exhibit similarities to closely related insects and also feature distinctive characteristics in their helical structures. Together with 321 published mitogenomes of termites as ingroups and 8 cockroach mitogenomes as outgroups, we compiled the most comprehensive mitogenome sequence matrix for Termitoidae to date. Phylogenetic analyses were conducted using datasets employing different data coding strategies and various inference methods. Robust relationships were recovered at the family or subfamily level, demonstrating the utility of comprehensive mitogenome sampling in resolving termite phylogenies. The results supported the monophyly of Termitoidae, and consistent relationships within this group were observed across different analyses. Mastotermitidae was consistently recovered as the sister group to all other termite families. The families Hodotermitidae, Stolotermitidae, and Archotermopsidae formed the second diverging clade, followed by the Kalotermitidae. The Neoisoptera was consistently supported with strong node support, with Stylotermitidae being sister to the remaining families. Rhinotermitidae was found to be non-monophyletic, and Serritermitidae nested within the basal clades of Rhinotermitidae and was sister to Psammotermitinae. Overall, our phylogenetic results are largely consistent with earlier mitogenome studies.
