RESUMO

Lithium (Li) metal anodes are considered one of the most promising anodes for high-performance batteries with ultra-high specific energy density. However, uncontrolled dendrite growth and the unsuitability of common systems for high voltage hinder the development of Li metal batteries with long cycle life. Herein, we report a rationally designed artificial solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) for Li metal anodes, incorporating LiNO3 and lithium difluoro(oxalato)borate (LiDFOB) as additives within a porous poly (vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) (PVDF-HFP) polymer skeleton (referred to as PNF). LiNO3 and LiDFOB can release and synergistically react at the electrode surface, leading to the in situ generation of a homogeneously distributed inorganic/organic SEI during the electrochemical process. This SEI improves homogeneity, ionic conductivity and mechanical stability, contributing to the suppression of electrolyte side reactions and Li dendrite growth. Moreover, a uniform CEI with high Li+ conductivity can be constructed on the NCM811 particles, further enhancing the structural integrity of the NCM811 cathode. As a result, the artificial SEI layer on Li metal anodes enables stable cycling of Li-Cu half cells in an ester-based electrolyte and Li-LiNi0.8Mn0.1Co0.1O2 full cell even at a high voltage of 4.5 V. This work provides new insights into designing homogeneous SEIs for Li metal batteries.

Microtubule-based vesicle trafficking usually relies upon kinesin and dynein motors and few reports describe microtubule polymerisation driving directional vesicle trafficking. Here we show that Arabidopsis END BINDING1b (EB1b), a microtubule plus-end binding protein, directly interacts with SYP121, a SNARE protein that mediates the trafficking of the K+ channel KAT1 and its distribution to the plasma membrane (PM) in Arabidopsis guard cells. Knockout of AtEB1b and its homologous proteins results in a modest but significant change in the distribution of KAT1 and SYP121 in guard cells and consequently delays light-induced stomatal opening. Live-cell imaging reveals that a portion of SYP121-associated endomembrane compartments co-localise with AtEB1b at the growing ends of microtubules, trafficking along with the growth of microtubules for targeting to the PM. Our study reveals a mechanism of vesicle trafficking driven by microtubule growth, which is involved in the redistribution of PM proteins to modulate guard cell movement.

Digital light processing (DLP) bioprinting, known for its high resolution and speed, enables the precise spatial arrangement of biomaterials and has become integral to advancing tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. Nevertheless, inherent light scattering presents significant challenges to the fidelity of the manufactured structures. Herein, we introduce a photoinhibition strategy based on Rutin nanoparticles (Rnps), attenuating the scattering effect through concurrent photoabsorption and free radical reaction. Compared to the widely utilized biocompatible photoabsorber tartrazine (Tar), Rnps-infused bioink enhanced printing speed (1.9×), interlayer homogeneity (58% less overexposure), resolution (38.3% improvement), and print tolerance (3× high-precision range) to minimize trial-and-error. The biocompatible and antioxidative Rnps significantly improved cytocompatibility and exhibited resistance to oxidative stress-induced damage in printed constructs, as demonstrated with human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived endothelial cells (hiPSC-ECs). The related properties of Rnps facilitate the facile fabrication of multimaterial, heterogeneous, and cell-laden biomimetic constructs with intricate structures. The developed photoinhibitor, with its profound adaptability, promises wide biomedical applications tailored to specific biological requirements.

In recent years, China has adopted numerous policies and regulations to control NOx emissions to further alleviate the adverse impacts of NO3--N deposition. However, the variation in wet NO3--N deposition under such policies is not clear. In this study, the southeastern area, with highly developed industries and traditional agriculture, was selected to explore the variation in NO3--N deposition and its sources changes after such air pollution control through field observation and isotope tracing. Results showed that the annual mean concentrations of NO3--N in precipitation were 0.67 mg L-1 and 0.54 mg L-1 in 2014-2015 and 2021-2022, respectively. The average wet NO3--N depositions in 2014-2015 and 2021-2022 was 7.76 kg N ha-1 yr-1 and 5.03 kg N ha-1 yr-1, respectively, indicating a 35% decrease. The δ15N-NO3- and δ18O-NO3- values were lower in warm seasons and higher in cold seasons, and both showed a lower trend in 2021-2022 compared with 2014-2015. The Bayesian model results showed that the NOx emitted from coal-powered plants contributed 53.6% to wet NO3--N deposition, followed by vehicle exhaust (22.9%), other sources (17.1%), and soil emissions (6.4%) during 2014-2015. However, the contribution of vehicle exhaust (33.3%) overpassed the coal combustion (32.3%) and followed by other sources (25.4%) and soil emissions (9.0%) in 2021-2022. Apart from the control of air pollution, meteorological factors such as temperature, precipitation, and solar radiation are closely related to the changes in atmospheric N transformation and deposition. The results suggest phased achievements in air pollution control and that more attention should be paid to the control of motor vehicle exhaust pollution in the future, at the same time maintaining current actions and supervision of coal-powered plants.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to compare 3 intraoperative modalities to determine the best and most convenient one for pain control for uniportal lung surgery. This study compared general anesthesia with serratus plane block, general anesthesia with epidural, and general anesthesia alone to examine postoperative pain scores in patients. METHODS: Eighty patients were enrolled and statistically analyzed. Three interventions were studied: general anesthesia with serratus plane block (group S), general anesthesia with thoracic epidural (group E), and general anesthesia only (group G). Outcome measures compared among the 3 groups included demographic characteristics; surgical types; anesthesia and operative time; postoperative pain scores; vital signs; morphine consumption at 0, 2, and 6 hours and day 1 and day 2 after surgery; incidence of opioid-related adverse events and chronic pain; hospital length of stay (LOS); and overall expenses. The numerical rating scale was used to assess the degree of pain on the first and second postoperative days. Postoperative morphine consumption, incidence of opioid-related side effects, hospital LOS, and overall hospital expenses were documented, as well as incidence of chronic postoperative pain. FINDINGS: There was no difference in the incidence of opioid-related adverse events and chronic pain, hospital LOS, and overall expenses among the 3 groups. After investigating factors that may influence hospital LOS and overall expenses, the multivariable analysis indicated that only longer operative time was associated with longer hospital stay and more hospital expenses. IMPLICATIONS: This prospective study found that general anesthesia alone offers an easy and efficient approach resulting in similar postoperative pain scores and morphine consumption compared with nerve block and epidural. Here, we have synthesized six dihydroxyl-functionalized ionic liquids for phase behavior studies at low temperature via crystallographic methods, Raman spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), and density functional theory (DFT) calculations. Phase varieties are observed depending on the direction and strength of hydrogen bonding. Our studies also show that the ILs could be potentially excellent phase-change thermal storage materials with nearly no change of the phase transition enthalpy.

Iron-dependent anaerobic oxidation of methane (iron-AOM) has recently been reported to occur in paddy soils, but its actual role and regulation remain unclear. Here, we confirmed the occurrence of iron-AOM at different layers of paddy soils (0-10 cm, 10-20 cm, and 30-40 cm) across tillering, elongation, flowering, and ripening periods under three long-term fertilizer management schemes (CK-unamended, CF-chemical fertilizer, and CFS-chemical fertilizer with straw). The iron-AOM activity contributed 41 % to total AOM, which was greater than that of nitrite- (32 %) and nitrate-AOM (27 %). The iron-AOM activity varied significantly with soil layers, growth periods and fertilizer types, with layer being the most important variable. Soil moisture content and organic carbon content were most significant influencing factors on the AOM activity, and a Candidatus Methanoperedens ferrireducens-like lineage potentially catalyzed iron-AOM. Our results suggest that iron-AOM has an important potential for mitigating methane emissions from rice paddies.

BACKGROUND: Chronic heart failure (CHF) has always posed a significant threat to human survival and health. The efficacy of thiamine supplementation in CHF patients remains uncertain. HYPOTHESIS: Receiving supplementary thiamine may not confer benefits to patients with CHF. METHODS: A comprehensive search was conducted across the Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, ClinicalTrials.gov, and Web of Science databases up until May 2023 to identify articles investigating the effects of thiamine supplementation in CHF patients. Predefined criteria were utilized for selecting data on study characteristics and results. RESULTS: Seven randomized, double-blind, controlled trials (five parallel trials and two crossover trials) involving a total of 274 patients were enrolled. The results of the meta-analysis pooling these studies did not reveal any significant effect of thiamine treatment compared with placebo on left ventricular ejection fraction (WMD = 1.653%, 95% CI:  -1.098 to 4.405, p = 0.239, I2 = 61.8%), left ventricular end-diastolic volume (WMD = -6.831 mL, 95% CI:  -26.367 to 12.704, p = 0.493, I2 = 0.0%), 6-min walking test (WMD = 16.526 m, 95% CI:  -36.582 to 69.634, p = 0.542, I2 = 66.3%), N-terminal pro-B type natriuretic peptide (WMD = 258.150 pg/mL, 95% CI:  -236.406 to 752.707, p = 0.306, I2 = 21.6%), or New York Heart Association class (WMD = -0.223, 95% CI:  -0.781 to 0.335, p = 0.434, I2 = 87.1%). However, it effectively improved the status of thiamine deficiency (TD). CONCLUSIONS: Our meta-analysis indicates that thiamine supplementation does not have a direct therapeutic effect on CHF, except for correcting TD.

By modulating stomatal opening and closure, plants control gas exchange, water loss, and photosynthesis in response to various environmental signals. During light-induced stomatal opening, the transport of ions and solutes across the plasma membrane (PM) of the surrounding guard cells results in an increase in turgor pressure, leading to cell swelling. Simultaneously, vesicles for exocytosis are delivered via membrane trafficking to compensate for the enlarged cell surface area and maintain an appropriate ion-channel density in the PM. In eukaryotic cells, soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor adaptor protein receptors (SNAREs) mediate membrane fusion between vesicles and target compartments by pairing the cognate glutamine (Q)- and arginine (R)-SNAREs to form a core SNARE complex. Syntaxin of plants 121 (SYP121) is a known Q-SNARE involved in stomatal movement, which not only facilitates the recycling of K+ channels to the PM but also binds to the channels to regulate their activity. In this study, we found that the expression of a receptor-like cytoplasmic kinase, low-K+ sensitive 4/schengen 1 (LKS4/SGN1), was induced by light; it directly interacted with SYP121 and phosphorylated T270 within the SNARE motif. Further investigation revealed that LKS4-dependent phosphorylation of SYP121 facilitated the interaction between SYP121 and R-SNARE vesicle-associated membrane protein 722 (VAMP722), promoting the assembly of the SNARE complex. Our findings demonstrate that the phosphorylation of SNARE proteins is an important strategy adopted by plants to regulate the SNARE complex assembly as well as membrane fusion. Additionally, we discovered the function of LKS4/SGN1 in light-induced stomatal opening via the phosphorylation of SYP121.

Straw incorporation holds significant promise for enhancing soil fertility and mitigating air pollution stemming from straw burning. However, this practice concurrently elevates the production and emission of methane (CH4) from paddy ecosystems. Despite its environmental impact, the precise mechanisms behind the heightened CH4 production resulting from long-term straw incorporation remain elusive. In a 32-year field experiment featuring three fertilization treatments (CFS-chemical fertilizer with wheat straw, CF-chemical fertilizer, and CK-unamended), we investigated the impact of abiotic (soil physicochemical properties) and biotic (methanogenic abundance, diversity, and community composition) factors on CH4 production in paddy fields. Results revealed a significantly higher CH4 production potential under CFS treatment compared to CF and CK treatments. The partial least squares path model revealed that soil physicochemical properties (path coefficient = 0.61), methanogenic diversity (path coefficient = -0.43), and methanogenic abundance (path coefficient = 0.29) collectively determined CH4 production potential, explaining 77% of the variance. Enhanced soil organic carbon content and water content, resulting from straw incorporation, emerged as pivotal factors positively correlated with CH4 production potential. Under CFS treatment, lower Shannon index of methanogens, compared to CF and CK treatments, was attributed to increased Methanosarcina. Notably, the Shannon index and relative abundance of Methanosarcina exhibited negative and positive correlations with CH4 production potential, respectively. Methanogenic abundance, bolstered by straw incorporation, significantly amplified overall potential. This comprehensive analysis underscores the joint influence of abiotic and biotic factors in regulating CH4 production potential during multi-decadal straw incorporation.

OBJECTIVE: The mechanism of left ventricular outflow tract obstruction (LVOTO) is complex in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM). We aimed to evaluate the impact of mitral valve geometry on LVOTO by echocardiography. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study population comprised 177 consecutive patients with HCM. Morphological findings of left ventricular hypertrophy and LVOTO-related abnormalities were assessed by comprehensive transthoracic echocardiography. Aortomitral angle, mitral leaflet length, and coaptation height were measured and analyzed at rest. Multivariable stepwise forward logistic regression analysis was performed to identify geometric predictors of LVOTO. RESULTS: One hundred thirty-seven patients had an LVOT gradient ≥30 mm Hg. Multivariable logistic regression showed that aortomitral angle (odds ratio [OR], 0.89; 95% CI, 0.83-0.95, P < .001), coaptation height (OR, 1.96; 95% CI, 1.41-2.72, P < .001), and accessory mitral valve chordae tendineae (OR, 13.1; 95% CI, 4.32-39.95; P < .001) were independently associated with LVOTO. Receiver operating characteristic analysis showed that the area under the curve of mitral coaptation height was higher (area under the curve = 0.815) than the other 2 indicators (P < .05). CONCLUSION: Mitral coaptation height, aortomitral angle, and accessory mitral valve chordae tendineae were important predictors of SAM and LVOTO in HCM independent of septal hypertrophy.

INTRODUCTION: Prolonged disorders of consciousness (pDoC) are a catastrophic condition following brain injury with few therapeutic options. Transcutaneous auricular vagal nerve stimulation (taVNS), a safe, non-invasive intervention modulating thalamo-cortical connectivity and brain function, is a possible treatment option of pDoC. We developed a protocol for a randomised controlled study to evaluate the effectiveness of taVNS on consciousness recovery in patients with pDoC (TAVREC). METHODS AND ANALYSIS: The TAVREC programme is a multicentre, triple-blind, randomised controlled trial with 4 weeks intervention followed by 4 weeks follow-up period. A minimum number of 116 eligible pDoC patients will be recruited and randomly receive either: (1) conventional therapy plus taVNS (30 s monophasic square current of pulse width 300 µs, frequency of 25 Hz and intensity of 1 mA followed by 30 s rest, 60 min, two times per day, for 4 weeks); or (2) conventional therapy plus taVNS placebo. Primary outcome of TAVREC is the rate of improved consciousness level based on the Coma Recovery Scale-Revised (CRS-R) at week 4. Secondary outcomes are CRS-R total and subscale scores, Glasgow Coma Scale score, Full Outline of UnResponsiveness score, ECG parameters, brainstem auditory evoked potential, upper somatosensory evoked potential, neuroimaging parameters from positron emission tomography/functional MRI, serum biomarkers associated with consciousness level and adverse events. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: This study was reviewed and approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the First Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing Medical University (Reference number: 2023-SR-392). Findings will be disseminated in a peer-reviewed journal and presented at relevant conferences. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: ChiCTR2300073950.

Aluminum (Al) toxicity in acidic soils is a major abiotic stress that negatively impacts plant growth and development. The toxic effects of Al manifest primarily in the root system, leading to inhibited root elongation and functionality, which impairs the above-ground organs of the plant. Recent research has greatly improved our understanding of the applications of small molecule compounds in alleviating Al toxicity. This study aimed to investigate the role of boron (B), silicon (Si), and their combination in alleviating Al toxicity in soybeans. The results revealed that the combined application significantly improved the biomass and length of soybean roots exposed to Al toxicity compared to B and Si treatments alone. Our results also indicated that Al toxicity causes programmed cell death (PCD) in soybean roots, while B, Si, and their combination all alleviated the PCD induced by Al toxicity. The oxidative damage induced by Al toxicity was noticeably alleviated, as evidenced by lower MAD and H2O2 accumulation in the soybean roots treated with the B and Si combination. Moreover, B, Si, and combined B and Si significantly enhanced plant antioxidant systems by up-regulating antioxidant enzymes including CAT, POD, APX, and SOD. Overall, supplementation with B, Si, and their combination was found to alleviate oxidative damage and reduce PCD caused by Al toxicity, which may be one of the mechanisms by which they alleviate root growth inhibition due to Al toxicity. Our results suggest that supplementation with B, Si, and their combination may be an effective strategy to improve soybean growth and productivity against Al toxicity.

RESUMO

The shortage of resources such as lithium and cobalt has promoted the development of novel battery systems with low cost, abundance, high performance, and efficient environmental adaptability. Due to the abundance and low cost of sodium, sodium-ion battery chemistry has drawn worldwide attention in energy storage systems. It is widely considered that wide-temperature tolerance sodium-ion batteries (WT-SIBs) can be rapidly developed due to their unique electrochemical and chemical properties. However, WT-SIBs, especially for their electrode materials and electrolyte systems, still face various challenges in harsh-temperature conditions. In this review, we focus on the achievements, failure mechanisms, fundamental chemistry, and scientific challenges of WT-SIBs. The insights of their design principles, current research, and safety issues are presented. Moreover, the possible future research directions on the battery materials for WT-SIBs are deeply discussed. Progress toward a comprehensive understanding of the emerging chemistry for WT-SIBs comprehensively discussed in this review will accelerate the practical applications of wide-temperature tolerance rechargeable batteries.

Phthalates (PAEs) are a typical class of endocrine disruptors (EEDs). As one of the most commonly used plasticizers, they have received widespread attention due to their wide application in various countries and high detection rates in various environmental media. To be able to clarify the contamination status of PAEs pollutants in a typical northern cold-temperate urban river, 30 water samples from Yitong River in Changchun City, northern China were collected, during the 2023 dry season (March), normal season (May) and wet season (July). Using these samples, a total of 16 target PAEs are investigated. The resulting total PAEs concentrations are: dry season 408 to 1494 ng/L, wet season 491 to 1299 ng/L, and normal season 341 to 780 ng/L. The average concentration of the 16 PAEs over the three seasons is 773 ng/L. Di-2-ethylhexyl phthalate (DEHP) and Dibutyl phthalate (DBP) have the highest concentrations, ranging from 12 to 403 ng/L and 28-680 ng/L respectively. The ecological risks within the Yitong River Basin are evaluated based on the degree of PAEs contamination. DBP and DEHP pose higher risk assessment levels for algae, crustaceans and fish than the other target PAEs. The accurate determination of PAEs provided baseline data on PAEs for the management of the Yitong River, which is of great significance for the prediction of ecological risk assessment and the development of corresponding control measures, supported further research on PAEs in the cold-temperate zone aquatic environments, and shed light on the seasonal variations of PAEs in the Northeast region in the future. Moreover, considering the bioaccumulation and persistence of PAEs, it is necessary to continue to pay attention to the pollution status of cold-temperate zones rivers and the changes in ecological risks in the future.

INTRODUCTION: The use of angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) in the treatment of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) remains a subject of controversy. METHODS: We conducted a comprehensive search of the Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, ClinicalTrials.gov, and Web of Science databases until October 2023 to identify articles investigating the effects of ARBs in patients diagnosed with HCM. Predefined criteria were utilized for selecting data on study characteristics and results. RESULTS: The study included a total of 387 patients from 6 randomized controlled trials, which were reported in 7 articles. The results of the meta-analysis revealed that the utilization of ARBs did not yield a reduction in left ventricular (LV) mass (p = 0.07) and maximum LV wall thickness (p = 0.25), nor did it demonstrate any improvement in LV fibrosis (p = 0.39). Furthermore, there was no significant impact observed on early diastolic mitral annular velocity (p = 0.19) and LV ejection fraction (p = 0.44). CONCLUSIONS: The administration of ARBs does not appear to yield improvements in cardiac structure, function, and myocardial fibrosis in patients with HCM.

Carrots as a representative type of delicious and healthy vegetables has become increasingly popular due to its unique flavors and nutritional value. Vast amount of research has been completed on chemical composition and aroma profile of fresh carrot. However, the knowledge of fresh carrot is only scattered. Therefore, a more comprehensive review to fresh carrot is requisite to be reported. This review first describes the botany of carrots; then, the chemical ingredients and their various functions are discussed. The volatile constituents and the effects of terpenoids on aroma profiles of fresh carrot are also discussed. Finally, sources of variation in the formation and development of carrot aroma through heat processing and dehydration are analyzed. This information will further help researchers to solve the problem of insufficient aroma of carrot products and standardize for each type of carrot through improving the production process.

Objective: To investigate the effects of ß-cell dysfunction on IVF outcomes in women with PCOS. Methods: This retrospective cohort study includes 1,212 women with PCOS undergoing their first IVF cycle between September 2010 and December 2019. Beta-cell dysfunction was measured by homeostasis model assessment of ß-cell function (HOMA-ß) index. Results: In quartiles of HOMA-ß, the incidence of miscarriage dramatically increased from 10.2% (Q1) to 31.1% (Q4) (P for trend <0.001). Likewise, the incidence of miscarriage in quartiles of HOMA-ß also showed a similar trend (P for trend <0.001). After adjusting for confounding factors, logistic regression analyses showed that high HOMA-IR values were independently associated with a high risk of miscarriage, with the odds ratios (OR) and 95% confidence intervals for quartiles 2-4 versus quartile 1 were 1.30 (0.69-2.46), 1.82 (0.97-3.43), and 3.57 (1.86-6.85), respectively (P for trend <0.001). When analyzed jointly, women in the highest HOMA-IR and highest HOMA-ß group exhibited the highest risk for miscarriage compared with all other groups. Furthermore, higher HOMA-IR values were associated with higher risks of miscarriage among PCOS women regardless of HOMA-ß values. Conclusions: ß-cell dysfunction is independently associated with increased miscarriage rate and decreased live birth rate in women with PCOS. It also plays a synergistic role with IR in terms of the reproductive outcomes, while the influence of IR overweighs that of ß-cell dysfunction.

In this study, a fixed-bed biofilm membrane bioreactor was used to assess denitrification and carbon removal performance, membrane fouling, composition, and the dynamics of microbial communities across 10 salinity levels. As salinity levels increased (from 0 to 30 g/L), the removal efficiency of total nitrogen and chemical oxygen demand decreased from 98 and 86% in Phase I to 25 and 45% in Phase X, respectively. Beyond a salinity level of 10 g/L, membrane fouling accelerated considerably. The analysis of fouling resistance distribution suggested that soluble microbial products (SMPs) were the primary cause of this phenomenon. The irregularity in microbial community succession reflected the varying adaptability of different bacteria to different salinity levels. The relative abundance of Sulfuritalea, Lentimircobium, Thauera, and Pseudomonas increased from 20.2 to 47.7% as the experiments progressed. Extracellular polymeric substances-related analysis suggested that Azospirillum plays a positive role in preserving the structural integrity of the biofilm carrier. The SMP-related analysis showed a positive correlation between Lentimircobium, Thauera, Pseudomonas, and the SMP content. These results suggested that these three bacterial genera significantly promoted the release of SMP under salt stress, which in turn led to severe membrane fouling.

Introduction: Periodontal disease (PD) presents a substantial global health challenge, encompassing conditions from reversible gingivitis to irreversible periodontitis, often culminating in tooth loss. The gut-oral axis has recently emerged as a focal point, with potential gut microbiota dysbiosis exacerbating PD. Methods: In this study, we employed a double-sample bidirectional Mendelian randomized (MR) approach to investigate the causal relationship between specific gut microbiota and periodontal disease (PD) and bleeding gum (BG) development, while exploring the interplay between periodontal health and the gut microenvironment. We performed genome-wide association studies (GWAS) with two cohorts, totalling 346,731 (PD and control) and 461,113 (BG and control) participants, along with data from 14,306 participants' intestinal flora GWAS, encompassing 148 traits (31 families and 117 genera). Three MR methods were used to assess causality, with the in-verse-variance-weighted (IVW) measure as the primary outcome. Cochrane's Q test, MR-Egger, and MR-PRESSO global tests were used to detect heterogeneity and pleiotropy. The leave-one-out method was used to test the stability of the MR results. An F-statistic greater than 10 was accepted for instrument exposure association. Results and conclusion: Specifically, Eubacterium xylanophilum and Lachnoclostridium were associated with reduced gum bleeding risk, whereas Anaerotruncus, Eisenbergiella, and Phascolarctobacterium were linked to reduced PD risk. Conversely, Fusicatenibacter was associated with an elevated risk of PD. No significant heterogeneity or pleiotropy was detected. In conclusion, our MR analysis pinpointed specific gut flora with causal connections to PD, offering potential avenues for oral health interventions.
