RESUMO

The liver, the largest organ in the human body, plays a multifaceted role in digestion, coagulation, synthesis, metabolism, detoxification, and immune defense. Changes in liver function often coincide with disruptions in both the central and peripheral nervous systems. The intricate interplay between the nervous and immune systems is vital for maintaining tissue balance and combating diseases. Signaling molecules and pathways, including cytokines, inflammatory mediators, neuropeptides, neurotransmitters, chemoreceptors, and neural pathways, facilitate this complex communication. They establish feedback loops among diverse immune cell populations and the central, peripheral, sympathetic, parasympathetic, and enteric nervous systems within the liver. In this concise review, we provide an overview of the structural and compositional aspects of the hepatic neural and immune systems. We further explore the molecular mechanisms and pathways that govern neuroimmune communication, highlighting their significance in liver pathology. Finally, we summarize the current clinical implications of therapeutic approaches targeting neuroimmune interactions and present prospects for future research in this area.

Our study was designed to investigate the original spectrum of feline respiratory tract infection and to provide a scientific basis for the clinical diagnosis and treatment of feline respiratory infections and for precise prevention and control measures. A total of 400 cats with upper respiratory tract infections from animal hospitals in 12 provinces in China were examined from November 2022 to October 2023 to investigate the epidemiology of feline calicivirus (FCV), feline herpes virus type 1 (FHV-1), influenza A virus (IAV), Mycoplasma felis, Chlamydia felis, and Bordetella bronchiseptica through loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) with microfluidic chip detection. The results showed that 396 of the 400 samples tested were positive for at least one of these pathogens, with an overall detection rate of 99.00%. The detection rates were as follows: FCV, 36.00% (144/400); M. felis, 34.00% (136/400); FHV-1, 21.50% (86/400); C. felis, 15.75% (63/400); B. b, 13.00% (52/400); IAV, 4.50% (18/400). There were no statistically significant differences in the detection rates of respiratory pathogens between different sexes, ages, seasons, breeds, or regions (P > 0.05). There were 88 mixed infections, giving a total mixed infection rate of 22.00% (88/400). It is worth noting that the detection rate of FCV at different ages and of FHV-1 in different sexes showed significant differences (P < 0.05). The highest rate of FCV infection was found in animals that were 1 to 2 years old, and the rate of FHV-1 infection in male cats was higher than that in female cats. The results showed that the spectrum of feline respiratory pathogens is complex, with diverse epidemiological characteristics and mixed infections, and some differences among different respiratory pathogens were found with regard to the sex, age, and breed of the cat. Studies should be continued to provide a scientific basis for precise prevention and control of feline respiratory diseases.

Energy metabolism disorder, mainly exhibiting the inhibition of fatty acid degradation and lipid accumulation, is highly related with aging acceleration. However, the intervention measures are deficient. Here, we reported Omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (Omega-3 PUFAs), especially EPA, exerted beneficial effects on maintaining energy metabolism and lipid homeostasis to slow organ aging. As the endogenous agonist of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α (PPARα), Omega-3 PUFAs significantly boosted fatty acid ß-oxidation and ATP production in multiple aged organs. Consequently, Omega-3 PUFAs effectively inhibited age-related pathological changes, preserved organ function, and retarded aging process. The beneficial effects of Omega-3 PUFAs were also testified in mfat-1 transgenic mice, which spontaneously generate abundant endogenous Omega-3 PUFAs. In conclusion, our study innovatively demonstrated Omega-3 PUFAs administration in diet slow aging through promoting energy metabolism. The supplement of Omega-3 PUFAs or fat-1 transgene provides a promising therapeutic approach to promote healthy aging in the elderly.

Listeria monocytogenes (L. monocytogenes) is a prevalent food-borne pathogen that can cause listeriosis, which manifests as meningitis and other symptoms, potentially leading to fatal outcomes in severe cases. In this study, we developed an aptasensor utilizing carboxylated magnetic beads and Cas12a to detect L. monocytogenes. In the absence of L. monocytogenes, the aptamer maintains its spatial configuration, keeping the double-stranded DNA attached and preventing the release of a startup template and activation of Cas12a's trans-cleavage capability. Conversely, in the presence of L. monocytogenes, the aptamer undergoes a conformational change, releasing the double-stranded DNA to serve as a startup template, thereby activating the trans-cleavage capability of Cas12a. Consequently, as the concentration of L. monocytogenes increases, the observable brightness in a blue light gel cutter intensifies, leading to a rise in fluorescence intensity difference compared to the control. This Cas12a aptasensor demonstrates excellent sensitivity towards L. monocytogenes, with a lowest detection limit (LOD) of 57.15 CFU/mL and a linear range of 4×102 to 4×107 CFU/mL (R2=0.9858). Notably, the proposed Cas12a aptasensor exhibited outstanding selectivity and recovery in beef samples, and could be employed for precise monitoring. This Cas12a aptasensor not only provides a novel fluorescent and visual rapid detection method for L. monocytogenes but also offers simplicity, speed, and stability compared to previous detection methods. Furthermore, it is suitable for on-site detection of beef samples.

Lambda-cyhalothrin (LCT) is a common pyrethroid insecticide widely used for ectoparasite control and hygiene pest prevention in poultry and this study aimed to investigate the mechanisms of LCT-induced cardiac injury in chickens. Low, medium, and high-dose LCT exposure models in chickens were established and hematoxylin and eosin (H&E) staining, dihydroethidium (DHE) staining, TUNEL staining, immunofluorescence, biochemical analysis, and gene expression analysis were used to study the effects of LCT exposure on the chicken heart. The results showed that LCT exposure increased the serum levels of creatine kinase (CK) and lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), led to muscle fiber breakage and inflammatory cell infiltration and caused cardiac tissue damage. The DHE staining and biochemical analysis revealed that LCT exposure resulted in the excessive accumulation of ROS, decreased activities/levels of catalase (CAT), total superoxide dismutase (T-SOD), and glutathione (GSH), and increased levels of the oxidative damage marker malondialdehyde (MDA). The TUNEL staining indicated that LCT exposure increased apoptosis possibly through the elevated expression of pro-apoptotic genes in the mitochondrial pathway, the reduced expression of anti-apoptotic genes, the upregulation of pro-inflammatory factors and the downregulation of anti-inflammatory factors. Here, LCT exposure significantly inhibited the expression of genes in the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway and activated the expression of genes in the CYP450 enzyme system. Compared to the low-dose group, the high-dose LCT exposure group showed lower levels of apoptosis and inflammation, possibly related to the low oxidative stress levels mediated by the decreased expression of the CYP450 enzyme system. In conclusion, LCT exposure induces oxidative stress, apoptosis, and inflammation in chicken hearts, which may be associated with the inhibition of the Nrf2/HO-1 pathway and activation of the CYP450 enzyme system. This study provides a theoretical basis for the safer use of insecticides in poultry production.

AIMS: Renal fibrosis is a common feature in various chronic kidney diseases (CKD). Tubular cell damage is a main characterization which results from dysregulated fatty acid oxidation (FAO) and lipid accumulation. Cannabinoid Receptor 2 (CB2) contributes to renal fibrosis, however, its role in FAO dysregulation in tubular cells is not clarified. In this study, we found CB2 plays a detrimental role in lipid metabolism in tubular cells. METHODS: CB2 knockout mice were adopted to establish a folic acid-induced nephropathy (FAN) model. CB2-induced FAO dysfunction, lipid deposition, and fibrogenesis were assessed in vivo and vitro. To explore molecular mechanisms, ß-catenin inhibitors and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα) activators were also used in CB2-overexpressed cells. The mediative role of ß-catenin in CB2-inhibited PPARα and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator-1 alpha (PGC-1α) activation was analyzed. RESULTS: CB2 activates ß-catenin signaling, resulting in the suppression of PPARα/PGC-1α axis. This decreased FAO functions and led to lipid droplet formation in tubular cells. CB2 gene ablation effectively mitigated FAO dysfunction, lipid deposition and uremic toxins accumulation in FAN mice, consequently retarding renal fibrosis. Additionally, inhibition to ß-catenin or PPARα activation could greatly inhibit lipid accumulation and fibrogenesis induced by CB2. CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights CB2 disrupts FAO in tubular cells through ß-catenin activation and subsequent inhibition on PPARα/PGC-1α activity. Targeted inhibition on CB2 offers a perspective therapeutic strategy to fight against renal fibrosis.

Schistosomiasis is caused by Schistosoma infection and affects more than 200 million people worldwide. A large number of eggs produced by adult Schistosoma play central the role in host pathology and subsequent disease dissemination. However, the underlying mechanisms of egg production in Schistosoma still need to be further elucidated. Previously, we found that miR-31 was highly enriched in the female reproductive organs of Schistosoma japonicum (S. japonicum), which was shown to be associated with ovarian development. In the present study, we analyzed the potential targets of miR-31 including mRNA and long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in S. japonicum by RNA seq combined with bioinformatics. Then, six putative targets of miR-31 including three mRNAs such as EWB00_000918, EWB00_004242, and EWB00_009323 and three lncRNAs such as LncSJG_010465, LncSJG_015374 and LncSJG_013128 were further analyzed their expressions in the parasites treated with miR-31 inhibitor by qPCR to confirm their potential regulations. Whole mount in suit hybridization (WISH) analysis of some miR-31 targets were carried out to determine their colocalizations with miR-31. Furthermore, we selected EWB00_009323, which is an eggshell synthetic protein and also a target of miR-31, to inhibit its functions by small interfering RNA. The results indicated that inhibition of EB00_009323 led to decreased oviposition and defective ovarian morphology. Overall, the potential targets of miR-31 including mRNA and lncRNAs were identified in female S. japonicum and the results indicated that miR-31 coordinates with its targets, at least EWB00_009323, play an important role in ovarian development and egg production.

Several studies have documented a relationship between short-term exposure to atmospheric sulfur dioxide (SO2) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). However, findings vary across different regions. This meta-analysis employed a random-effects model to calculate the combined risk estimate for each 10-µg/m3 increase in ambient SO2 concentration. Subgroup analysis aimed to identify sources of heterogeneity. To assess potential bias, studies were evaluated using a domain-based assessment tool developed by the World Health Organization. Sensitivity analyses, based on bias risk, explored how model assumptions influenced associations. An evidence certainty framework was used to evaluate overall evidence quality. The study protocol was registered with PROSPERO (CRD42023446823). We thoroughly reviewed 191 full-text articles, ultimately including 15 in the meta-analysis. The pooled relative risk for COPD was 1.26 (95 % CI 0.94-1.70) per 10-µg/m3 increase in ambient SO2. Eleven studies were deemed high risk due to inadequate handling of missing data. Overall evidence certainty was rated as medium. Given SO2's significant public health implications, continuous monitoring is crucial. Future research should include countries in Africa and Oceania to enhance global understanding of atmospheric SO2-related health issues.

The Arctic fox (Vulpes lagopus) is a species indigenous to the Arctic and has developed unique lipid metabolism, but the mechanisms remain unclear. Here, the significantly increased body weight of Arctic foxes was consistent with the significantly increased serum very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), and the 40% crude fat diet further increased the Arctic fox body weight. The enhanced body weight gain stems primarily from increased subcutaneous adipose tissue accumulation. The adipose triacylglycerol and phosphatidylethanolamine were significantly greater in Arctic foxes. The adipose fatty-acid synthase content was significantly lower in Arctic foxes, highlighting the main role of exogenous fatty-acids in fat accumulation. Considering the same diet, liver-derived fat dominates adipose expansion in Arctic foxes. Liver transcriptome analysis revealed greater fat and VLDL synthesis in Arctic foxes, consistent with the greater VLDL. Glucose homeostasis wasn't impacted in Arctic foxes. And the free fatty-acids in adipose, which promote insulin resistance, also did not differ between groups. However, the hepatic glycogen was greater in Arctic foxes and transcriptome analysis revealed upregulated glycogen synthesis, improving glucose homeostasis. These results suggest that the superior fat accumulation capacity and distinct characteristics of hepatic and adipose lipid and glucose metabolism facilitate glucose homeostasis and massive fat accumulation in Arctic foxes.

PURPOSE: The primary aim was to determine the risk of infection after knee arthroscopy and to evaluate the risk factors for surgical site infection (SSI). METHODS: The PubMed/Medline, Embase and Cochrane Library databases were systematically searched, as were the reference lists of previous systematic reviews and meta-analysis manual studies. A random-effects model was used to calculate the estimated pooled odds ratio (OR). RESULTS: A total of 38,321 potential articles met the initial inclusion criteria. After a review of the titles, abstracts and full texts, the remaining 41 articles were included in the final analysis. We identified 9,089,578 patients who underwent knee arthroscopy in 41 articles. High-quality (class I) evidence showed that autografts (cruciate ligament reconstruction) (OR, 2.66% CI, 1.84-3.86) or high procedure complexity (OR, 2.02;95% CI, 1.69-2.43) had a higher risk of infection, while medium-quality (class II or class III) evidence showed that obesity (BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2) (OR, 1.27; 95% CI, 1.08-1.49) or male (OR, 1.52; 95% CI, 1.32-1.75) or diabetes (OR, 1.71; 95% CI, 1.36-2.14) or tobacco use (OR, 1.65; 95% CI, 1.38-1.97) or preoperative steroid use (OR, 3.41; 95% CI, 2.10-5.54) had a higher risk of infection. The meta-analysis showed that there was no association between age or antibiotic prophylaxis and infection incidence. CONCLUSIONS: The meta-analysis showed that significant risk factors for infection after knee arthroscopy included obesity, male sex, diabetes, tobacco use, high procedure complexity, graft type, and preoperative steroid use. As a common foodborne pathogen, infection with L. monocytogenes poses a significant threat to human life and health. The objective of this study was to employ comparative genomics to unveil the biodiversity and evolutionary characteristics of L. monocytogenes strains from different regions, screening for potential target genes and mining novel target genes, thus providing significant reference value for the specific molecular detection and therapeutic targets of L. monocytogenes strains. Pan-genomic analysis revealed that L. monocytogenes from different regions have open genomes, providing a solid genetic basis for adaptation to different environments. These strains contain numerous virulence genes that contribute to their high pathogenicity. They also exhibit relatively high resistance to phosphonic acid, glycopeptide, lincosamide, and peptide antibiotics. The results of mobile genetic elements indicate that, despite being located in different geographical locations, there is a certain degree of similarity in bacterial genome evolution and adaptation to specific environmental pressures. The potential target genes identified through pan-genomics are primarily associated with the fundamental life activities and infection invasion of L. monocytogenes, including known targets such as inlB, which can be utilized for molecular detection and therapeutic purposes. After screening a large number of potential target genes, we further screened them using hub gene selection methods to mining novel target genes. The present study employed eight different hub gene screening methods, ultimately identifying ten highly connected hub genes (bglF_1, davD, menE_1, tilS, dapX, iolC, gshAB, cysG, trpA, and hisC), which play crucial roles in the pathogenesis of L. monocytogenes. The results of pan-genomic analysis showed that L. monocytogenes from different regions exhibit high similarity in bacterial genome evolution. The PCR results demonstrated the excellent specificity of the bglF_1 and davD genes for L. monocytogenes. Therefore, the bglF_1 and davD genes hold promise as specific molecular detection and therapeutic targets for L. monocytogenes strains from different regions.

At present, the repair patterns for medium-sized supraspinatus tendon tears are double- and single-row repairs. However, the limitations of double-row repair include excessive anchor implantation and incremental surgical cost and time, whereas a deficient tendon-bone contact area exists with single-row repair. The modified double-pulley suture-bridge repair presented in this study is an arthroscopic technique using 3 double-loaded suture anchors combined with a double-pulley technique to form a hybrid repair pattern with a double row as the mainstay and a single row as the supplement. In the treatment of medium-sized tendon tears, the modified double-pulley suture-bridge repair can not only maximize the tendon-bone contact area but also lower the surgical cost and shorten the operative time. The surgical technique is described, including pearls and pitfalls, as well as advantages and disadvantages.

Sea cucumber phospholipids have ameliorative effects on various diseases related to lipid metabolism. However, it is unclear whether it can ameliorate obesity-associated glomerulopathy (ORG) induced by a high-fat diet (HFD). The present study applied UPLC-QqQ-MS/MS and atmospheric pressure matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization mass spectrometry imaging (AP-MALDI MSI) to investigate the effects of sea cucumber phospholipids, including plasmalogen PlsEtn and plasmanylcholine PakCho, on phospholipid profiles in the HFD-induced ORG mouse kidney. Quantitative analysis of 135 phospholipids revealed that PlsEtn and PakCho significantly modulated phospholipid levels. Notably, PlsEtn modulated kidney overall phospholipids better than PakCho. Imaging the "space-content" of 9 phospholipids indicated that HFD significantly increased phospholipid content within the renal cortex. Furthermore, PlsEtn and PakCho significantly decreased the expression of transport-related proteins CD36, while elevating the expression of fatty acid ß-oxidation-related protein PPAR-α in the renal cortex. In conclusion, sea cucumber phospholipids reduced renal lipid accumulation, ameliorated renal damage, effectively regulated the content and distribution of renal phospholipids, and improved phospholipid homeostasis, exerting an anti-OGR effect.

Hyperspectral detection of the change rate of organic matter content in agricultural remote sensing requires a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). However, due to the large number and efficiency limitation of the components, it is difficult to improve the SNR. This study uses high-efficiency convex grating with a diffraction efficiency exceeding 50% across the 360-850 nm range, a back-illuminated Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) detector with a 95% efficiency in peak wavelength, and silver-coated mirrors to develop an imaging spectrometer for detecting soil organic matter (SOM). The designed system meets the spectral resolution of 10 nm in the 360-850 nm range and achieves a swath of 100 km and a spatial resolution of 100 m at an orbital height of 648.2 km. This study also uses the basic structure of Offner with fewer components in the design and sets the mirrors of the Offner structure to have the same sphere, which can achieve the rapid adjustment of the co-standard. This study performs a theoretical analysis of the developed Offner imaging spectrometer based on the classical Rowland circular structure, with a 21.8 mm slit length; simulates its capacity for suppressing the +2nd-order diffraction stray light with the filter; and analyzes the imaging quality after meeting the tolerance requirements, which is combined with the surface shape characteristics of the high-efficiency grating. After this test, the grating has a diffraction efficiency above 50%, and the silver-coated mirrors have a reflection value above 95% on average. Finally, the laboratory tests show that the SNR over the waveband exceeds 300 and reaches 800 at 550 nm, which is higher than some current instruments in orbit for soil observation. The proposed imaging spectrometer has a spectral resolution of 10 nm, and its modulation transfer function (MTF) is greater than 0.23 at the Nyquist frequency, making it suitable for remote sensing observation of SOM change rate. The manufacture of such a high-efficiency broadband grating and the development of the proposed instrument with high energy transmission efficiency can provide a feasible technical solution for observing faint targets with a high SNR.

RESUMO

Microalgae, integral to marine ecosystems for their rich nutrient content, notably lipids and proteins, were investigated by using reversed-phase liquid chromatography coupled with quadrupole time-of-flight mass spectrometry (RPLC-Q-TOF-MS/MS). This study focused on lipid composition in three commonly used microalgae species (Spirulina platensis, Chlorella vulgaris, and Schizochytrium limacinum) for functional food applications. The analysis unveiled more than 700 lipid molecular species, including glycolipids (GLs), phospholipids (PLs), sphingolipids (SLs), glycerolipids, and betaine lipids (BLs). GLs (19.9-64.8%) and glycerolipids (24.1-70.4%) comprised the primary lipid. Some novel lipid content, such as acylated monogalactosyldiacylglycerols (acMGDG) and acylated digalactosyldiacylglycerols (acDGDG), ranged from 0.62 to 9.68%. The analysis revealed substantial GLs, PLs, and glycerolipid variations across microalgae species. Notably, S. platensis and C. vulgaris displayed a predominance of fatty acid (FA) 18:2 and FA 18:3 in GLs, while S. limacinum exhibited a prevalence of FA 16:0, collectively constituting over 60% of the FAs of GLs. In terms of PLs and glycerolipids, S. platensis and C. vulgaris displayed elevated levels of arachidonic acid (AA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA), whereas S. limacinum exhibited a significant presence of docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). Principal component analysis (PCA) revealed MGDG (16:0/18:1), DG (16:0/22:5), Cer (d18:1/20:0), and LPC (16:1) as promising lipid markers for discriminating between these microalgae samples. This study contributes to a comprehensive understanding of lipid profiles in three microalgae species, emphasizing their distinct biochemical characteristics and potentially informing us of their high-value utilization in the food industry.

BACKGROUND: Cellular senescence, macrophages infiltration, and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) osteogenic transdifferentiation participate in the pathophysiology of vascular calcification in chronic kidney disease (CKD). Senescent macrophages are involved in the regulation of inflammation in pathological diseases. In addition, senescent cells spread senescence to neighboring cells via Interferon-induced transmembrane protein3 (IFITM3). However, the role of senescent macrophages and IFITM3 in VSMCs calcification remains unexplored. AIMS: To explore the hypothesis that senescent macrophages contribute to the calcification and senescence of VSMCs via IFITM3. METHODS: Here, the macrophage senescence model was established using Lipopolysaccharides (LPS). The VSMCs were subjected to supernatants from macrophages (MCFS) or LPS-induced macrophages (LPS-MCFS) in the presence or absence of calcifying media (CM). Senescence-associated ß-galactosidase (SA-ß-gal), Alizarin red (AR), immunofluorescent staining, and western blot were used to identify cell senescence and calcification. RESULTS: The expression of IFITM3 was significantly increased in LPS-induced macrophages and the supernatants. The VSMCs transdifferentiated into osteogenic phenotype, expressing higher osteogenic differentiation markers (RUNX2) and lower VSMCs constructive makers (SM22α) when cultured with senescent macrophages supernatants. Also, senescence markers (p16 and p21) in VSMCs were significantly increased by senescent macrophages supernatants treated. However, IFITM3 knockdown inhibited this process. CONCLUSIONS: Our study showed that LPS-induced senescence of macrophages accelerated the calcification of VSMCs via IFITM3. These data provide a new perspective linking VC and aging, which may provide clues for diagnosing and treating accelerated vascular aging in patients with CKD.

Phase unwrapping is a crucial step in obtaining the final physical information in the field of optical metrology. Although good at dealing with phase with discontinuity and noise, most deep learning-based spatial phase unwrapping methods suffer from the complex model and unsatisfactory performance, partially due to simple noise type for training datasets and limited interpretability. This paper proposes a highly efficient and robust spatial phase unwrapping method based on an improved SegFormer network, SFNet. The SFNet structure uses a hierarchical encoder without positional encoding and a decoder based on a lightweight fully connected multilayer perceptron. The proposed method utilizes the self-attention mechanism of the Transformer to better capture the global relationship of phase changes and reduce errors in the phase unwrapping process. It has a lower parameter count, speeding up the phase unwrapping. The network is trained on a simulated dataset containing various types of noise and phase discontinuity. This paper compares the proposed method with several state-of-the-art deep learning-based and traditional methods in terms of important evaluation indices, such as RMSE and PFS, highlighting its structural stability, robustness to noise, and generalization.

Anisakis can cause Anisakiasis in humans if raw or undercooked fish is consumed. Symptoms of infection may include vomiting, acute abdominal symptoms, or allergies. In this study, we collected 187 commercially available marine fish from the Yellow Sea, East China Sea, and South China Sea. Among them, 79 were found positive containing 520 Anisakis worms. The average prevalence rate was found 42% in this investigation. Ninety-two worms from different sea areas were selected and analyzed for identification, revealing the presence of five different species, which are Anisakis pegreffii, Hysterothylacium aduncum, Hysterothylacium zhoushanense, Hysterothylacium amoyense, and Hysterothylacium sp. In the meta-analysis, three databases: PubMed, CNKI, and BaiduXueshu were searched for surveys on the prevalence of Anisakis in Chinese waters from January 2000 to December 2023. A total of 26 studies were included in this analysis of which 25 publications were retrieved from different databases and one being the present study. The pooled prevalence of Anisakis was 45% among commercially available marine fish. Variances in the prevalence of Anisakis were noted among the four seas, with the highest rates in the East China Sea and the Bohai Sea, reaching 53% [0.38; 0.68] and 49% [0.36; 0.62], respectively. The Prevalence of Anisakis infection was significantly higher in astern parts such as Liaoning, Shanghai, and Zhejiang. Analysis of the host fish subgroups revealed that the orders of Anguilliformes, Scombriformes, and Gadiformes had high rates of infection. These findings suggest a significant prevalence of Anisakis, posing an increasing risk of infection for individuals. This study provides impactful information for implementing preventative measures against Anisakis.

The numerical aperture of the spectrometer is crucial for weak signal detection. The transmission lens-based configuration has more optimization variations, and the grating can work approximately in the Littrow condition; thus, it is easier to acquire high numerical aperture (NA). However, designing a large aperture focusing lens remains challenging, and thus, ultra-high NA spectrometers are still difficult to acquire. In this paper, we propose a method of setting image plane tilt ahead directly when designing the large aperture focusing lens to simplify the high NA spectrometer design. By analyzing the accurate demands of the focusing lens, it can be concluded that a focusing lens with image plane tilt has much weaker demand for achromatism, and other monochromatic aberration can also be reduced, which is helpful to increase the NA. An NA0.5 fiber optic spectrometer design is given to demonstrate the proposed method. The design results show that the NA can achieve 0.5 using four lenses of two materials, and the MTF is higher than 0.5 when the spectral dispersion length is 12.5 mm and the pixel size is 25 µm, and thus, the spectral resolution can achieve 6.5 nm when the spectral sampling ratio is 2:1. The proposed method can provide reference for applications when appropriate materials are limited and high sensitivity is necessary.

Acute kidney injury (AKI) is in high prevalence worldwide but with no therapeutic strategies. Programmed cell death in tubular epithelial cells has been reported to accelerate a variety of AKI, but the major pathways and underlying mechanisms are not defined. Herein, we identified that pyroptosis was responsible for AKI progression and related to ATP depletion in renal tubular cells. We found that FAM3A, a mitochondrial protein that assists ATP synthesis, was decreased and negatively correlated with tubular cell injury and pyroptosis in both mice and patients with AKI. Knockout of FAM3A worsened kidney function decline, increased macrophage and neutrophil cell infiltration, and facilitated tubular cell pyroptosis in ischemia/reperfusion injury model. Conversely, FAM3A overexpression alleviated tubular cell pyroptosis, and inhibited kidney injury in ischemic AKI. Mechanistically, FAM3A promoted PI3K/AKT/NRF2 signaling, thus blocking mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (mt-ROS) accumulation. NLRP3 inflammasome sensed the overload of mt-ROS and then activated Caspase-1, which cleaved GSDMD, pro-IL-1ß, and pro-IL-18 into their mature forms to mediate pyroptosis. Of interest, NRF2 activator alleviated the pro-pyroptotic effects of FAM3A depletion, whereas the deletion of NRF2 blocked the anti-pyroptotic function of FAM3A. Thus, our study provides new mechanisms for AKI progression and demonstrates that FAM3A is a potential therapeutic target for treating AKI.
