RESUMO

The Shendong mining area is the largest coal production base in China. However, the area is dry and water scarce, and the ecological environment is fragile. Large scale mining of shallow and thick coal seam in mining area may affect surface moisture and threaten surface ecological security. In order to understand the change of soil moisture in subsidence area. The evaporation loss rate of undisturbed and subsidence soil in mining area was estimated by using water stable isotope technique. The soil particle size and moisture of undisturbed and subsidence soil were compared. The results showed that the soil particle size did not change significantly in the subsidence area, but the continuity of soil structure changed. The evaporation loss rate of soil in subsidence area is about 15 % lower than that of undisturbed soil, and the soil moisture of soil in subsidence area is about 10 % higher than that of undisturbed soil. Further, the Craig-Gordon model is more accurate than the Rayleigh model in estimating the evaporation loss of soil moisture. Our work showed that the soil structure of coal mining subsidence area becomes much looser and the loose cover formed by the surface soil is the main reason for the reduction of soil moisture evaporation. The significant increase of soil moisture will be beneficial to plant recovery and growth, and lay a water foundation for ecological self-restoration in subsidence area. This study is helpful to understand the influence of coal mining subsidence on soil and surface hydrology in arid and semi-arid areas, and has important significance for optimizing and improving the ecological reclamation model of mining areas in western China.

RESUMO

Malachite Green (MG) is a widely used industrial dye that is hazardous to health. Herein, the decolourisation and detoxification of MG were achieved using the engineered Saccharomyces cerevisiae expressing novel thermostable laccase lcc1 from Trametes trogii. The engineered strain RCL produced a high laccase activity of 121.83 U L-1. Lcc1 was stable at temperatures ranging from 20 ℃ to 60 ℃ and showed a high tolerance to organic solvents. Moreover, Lcc1 could decolorize different kinds of dyes (azo, anthraquinone and triphenylmethane), among which, the decolorization ability of MG is the highest, reaching 95.10 %, and the decolorization rate of other triphenylmethane dyes also over 50 %. The RCL decolorized about 95 % of 50 mg L-1 of MG dye in 10 h at 30 ℃. The MG degradation products were analyzed. The industrial application potential of the RCL was evaluated by treating industrial wastewater and the decolourisation rates were over 90 %.

RESUMO

The blood-follicle barrier (BFB) between the blood and follicular fluid (FF) can maintain the microenvironment balance of oocyte. Boron, an exogenous environmental trace element, has been found to possibly play an important role in oocyte maturation. This study aimed to examine the distribution characteristics of boron across the BFB and find the potential effect of boron on FF microenvironment. We analyzed the concentration of boron in paired FF and serum collected from 168 women undergoing in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer in Beijing City and Shandong Province, China. To explore the potential health impact of boron enrichment in oocyte maturation, a global proteomics analysis was conducted to tentatively correlate the protein levels with the boron enrichment. Interestingly, the results showed that the concentration of boron in FF (34.5 ng/mL) was significantly higher than that in serum (22.0 ng/mL), with a median concentration ratio of 1.52. Likewise, the concentrations of boron in FF and serum were positively correlated (r = 0.446), suggesting that boron concentration in serum can represent its concentration in follicular fluid to a large extent.. This is the first time to observe the enrichment of boron in the FF to our knowledge. It is interesting to observe a total of 13 proteins, which mainly belong to immunoglobulin class, were positively correlated with boron concentration in FF. We concluded that boron, as one environmental trace element, was enriched in FF from blood validated by two area in north china, which may be involved in an increased level of immune processes of immunoglobulins.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: This study aimed to assess the effect of diode laser combined with minocycline hydrochloride in conventional nonsurgical periodontal therapy. METHODS: Ninety-two patients and 1206 teeth were included in this study. The patients were diagnosed moderate or severe periodontal diseases with the presence of teeth in at least 3 quadrants in the oral cavity. Each patient's quadrants were randomly divided into three treatment groups as following, Control group: scaling and root planning (SRP); Experimental group 1 (Exp 1): SRP + minocycline hydrochloride; Experimental group 2 (Exp 2): SRP + 809 nm diode laser + minocycline hydrochloride. The minocycline in Exp 1 and Exp 2 was applied once per week, for 4 weeks. Clinical examinations including periodontal probing depth (PD), clinical attachment level (CAL) and bleeding index (BI), and the secretion of inflammatory factor (tumor necrosis factor, TNF-α) was detected by ELISA before and 3, 6 months after the treatments. The differences among these groups were assessed by One-Way ANOVA and Kruskal-Wallis test. P-value < 0.05 was considered significant. RESULTS: All the periodontal indexes (PD, CAL and BI) were improved after each treatment and the secretion of TNF-α was reduced for all three groups. In patients with deep periodontal pockets, Exp 2 showed significant improvements in all indexes comparison with Con group and Exp group 1. CONCLUSIONS: The synergistic effect of SRP and 809 nm diode laser combined with minocycline hydrochloride could play an efficient and reliable effect in the nonsurgical periodontal treatment approach. Trial registration The clinical trial was retrospectively registered in chictr.org.cn with registration ChiCTR2100051708 (01/10/2021).

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Plenty of studies have showed matrix metalloproteinase 14 (MMP14) expression might be associated with the prognosis of gastric cancer (GC). However, no definite conclusion has been obtained for the contradictory results. METHODS: We searched PubMed, Web of science, Embase, and Cochrane library for eligible studies. The association between MMP14 expression and prognostic outcomes of GC was evaluated. Hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) were integrated to show the effect of MMP14 expression on the overall survival (OS) or recurrence-free survival (RFS). Data from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) was used to validate the association of MMP14 expression with OS or RFS in GC. A brief bioinformatics analysis was also performed to determine the prognostic role of MMP14 expression in GC. RESULTS: High MMP14 expression was associated with shorter OS compared to low MMP14 expression in GC (HR = 1.95, P < .01). Patients with high MMP14 expression tended to have worse differentiation (P = .03), deeper tumor invasion (P < .01), earlier lymph node metastasis (P < .01), earlier distant metastasis (P < .01) and more advanced clinical stage (P < .01) compared to those with low MMP14 expression. The data from TCGA and GEO showed MMP14 was overexpressed in tumor tissues compared to normal tissues (P < .05), and high MMP14 expression was significantly related to shorter OS (HR = 1.70, 95% CI = 1.32-2.20, P < .01) and RFS (HR = 1.45, 95% CI = 1.15-1.83, P < .01) compared to low MMP14 expression in GC. Expression of MMP14 was linked to functional networks involving the biological process, metabolic process, response to stimulus, cell communication and so on. Functional network analysis suggested that MMP14 regulated the protein digestion and absorption, extracellular matrix receptor interaction, focal adhesion, ribosome, spliceosome, and so on. CONCLUSION: High MMP14 expression was associated with worse prognosis of GC compared to low MMP14 expression. MMP14 expression could serve as a prognostic factor and potential therapeutic target of GC.

RESUMO

A novel suspension system, the hydraulic integrated interconnected regenerative suspension (HIIRS), has been proposed recently. This paper demonstrates the vibration and energy harvesting characteristics of the HIIRS. The HIIRS model is established as a set of coupled, frequency-dependent equations with the hydraulic impedance method. The mechanical-fluid boundary condition in the double-acting cylinders is modelled as an external force on the mechanical system and a moving boundary on the fluid system. By integrating the HIIRS into a half car model, its free and forced vibration analyses are conducted and compared with an equivalent traditional off-road vehicle. Results show that the natural frequency and the damping ratio of the HIIRS-equipped vehicle are within a proper range of a normal off-road vehicle. The root mean square values of the bounce and roll acceleration of the HIIRS system are, respectively, 64.62 and 11.21% lower than that of a traditional suspension. The average energy harvesting power are 186.93, 417.40 and 655.90 W at the speeds of 36, 72 and 108 km/h for an off-road vehicle on a Class-C road. The results indicate that the HIIRS system can significantly enhance the vehicle dynamics and harvest the vibration energy simultaneously.

RESUMO

The present study aimed to investigate the biofunctions of microRNA (miR)125b on lung cancer cells. A miR genechip array was used to examine the differential expression of miRs between 95D lung cancer cells and 16 human bronchial epithelial (HBE) cells. Overexpression of miR125b was observed in the cell lines and in the lung carcinoma tissues compared with the adjacent tissues, confirmed using reverse transcription quantitative polymerase chain reaction. Bioinformatic analysis of miR125b was also performed, including target prediction, gene ontology and pathway analysis. MTT, flow cytometry and Transwell assays were also used to examine the effect of downregulated miR125b on the proliferation, apoptosis, invasive ability and cell cycle of 95D cells. Significant differences were observed in the expression of 45 miRs in the 95D cells compared with those in 16HBE cells and the expression of miR125b was significantly higher in 95D cells compared with that in 16HBE cells as well as in lung tumor tissues compared with that in adjacent tissues. In addition, inhibition of the expression of miR125b in 95D cells induced apoptosis, G1/S phase arrest and reduction of their invasive ability. In addition, bioinformatics software predicted that miR125b was involved in the regulation of several pathways associated with cancer, including the transforming growth factorß, Wnt and mitogenactivated protein kinase signaling pathways. These data indicated for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, that miR125b may function as an oncogene in lung cancer.

RESUMO

Protein crystals usually grow at a preferable temperature which is however not known for a new protein. This paper reports a new approach for determination of favorable crystallization temperature, which can be adopted to facilitate the crystallization screening process. By taking advantage of the correlation between the temperature dependence of the second virial coefficient (B(22)) and the solubility of protein, we measured the temperature dependence of B(22) to predict the temperature dependence of the solubility. Using information about solubility versus temperature, a preferred crystallization temperature can be proposed. If B(22) is a positive function of the temperature, a lower crystallization temperature is recommended; if B(22) shows opposite behavior with respect to the temperature, a higher crystallization temperature is preferred. Otherwise, any temperature in the tested range can be used.
