Introduction: Due to its unique structural features and bioactivities, the lignin-carbohydrate complex (LCC) displays great potential in vast industrial applications. However, the elucidation of how various pretreatment methods affect the structure and bioactivities remains unaddressed. Method: The three pretreatment methods were systematically studied on the variations of structures and bioactivities, and the Gramineae plant, i.e., wheat straw, was adopted in this study. The structures and bioactivities variation caused by different pretreatments were studied in detail. Result and Discussion: The results showed that compared to physical or chemical pretreatments, biological pretreatment was the most effective approach in improving the bioactivities of LCC. The LCC from biological pretreatment (enzymatic hydrolysis, ELCC4) had more functional groups while the lower weight-average molecular weight (Mw) and polydispersity index (PDI) were well-endowed. The highest antioxidant abilities against ABTS and DPPH of ELCC4 were high up to 95% and 84%, respectively. Furthermore, ELCC4 also showed the best ultraviolet (UV)-blocking rate of 96%, which was increased by 6% and 2% compared to LCC8 (physical pretreatment) and LLCC4 (chemical pretreatment). This work prospectively boosts the understanding of pretreatment strategies on the structures and bioactivities variation of LCC and facilitates its utilization as sustainable and biologically active materials in various fields.

RESUMO

Tertiary lymphoid structures are immune cell aggregates linked with cancer outcomes, but their interactions with tumour cell aggregates are unclear. Using nasopharyngeal carcinoma as a model, here we analyse single-cell transcriptomes of 343,829 cells from 77 biopsy and blood samples and spatially-resolved transcriptomes of 31,316 spots from 15 tumours to decipher their components and interactions with tumour cell aggregates. We identify essential cell populations in tertiary lymphoid structure, including CXCL13+ cancer-associated fibroblasts, stem-like CXCL13+CD8+ T cells, and B and T follicular helper cells. Our study shows that germinal centre reaction matures plasma cells. These plasma cells intersperse with tumour cell aggregates, promoting apoptosis of EBV-related malignant cells and enhancing immunotherapy response. CXCL13+ cancer-associated fibroblasts promote B cell adhesion and antibody production, activating CXCL13+CD8+ T cells that become exhausted in tumour cell aggregates. Tertiary lymphoid structure-related cell signatures correlate with prognosis and PD-1 blockade response, offering insights for therapeutic strategies in cancers.

Dryocosmus kuriphilus, commonly known as the chestnut gall wasp, belongs to the family Cynipidae and is native to China. It is a highly invasive insect species causing serious damage to chestnut trees and has rapidly spread to various continents, including Europe, North America, and Oceania. The D. kuriphilus has become one of the important pests of chestnut plants in the world and is listed as a quarantine object by the European and Mediterranean Plant Protection Organization (EPPO). In this study, we used PacBio long reads, Illumina short reads, and Hi-C sequencing data to construct a chromosome-level assembly of the D. kuriphilus genome. The assembled genome includes 14,729 contigs with a total length of 2.28 Gb and a contig N50 of 0.8 Mb. With Hi-C technology, 2.17 Gb (95.02%) of contigs were anchored and oriented into the 10 pseudochromosomes with the scaffold N50 of 198.8 Mb and the scaffold N90 of 158.8 Mb. In total, 24,086 protein-coding genes were predicted in the assembled D. kuriphilus genome as the reference gene set. A total of 1.82 Gb repeats (occupying 79.7% of the genome), including 1.42 Gb of transposable elements and 0.40 Gb of tandem repeats, were identified in D. kuriphilus genome. In the evaluation of completeness, the BUSCO analysis determined a level of 98.1% completeness for the assembled genome sequences based on the Insecta database (OrthoDB version 10). The high-quality genome assembly of D. kuriphilus will not only provide a valuable reference for the study of its evolutionary history and genetic structure but also facilitate the research of host-pest interactions and invasiveness. Moreover, this genome assembly will promote in the development of effective management strategies to mitigate the economic and ecological impacts of this invasive pest on chestnut trees and ecosystems.

The objective of this study was to explore the impacts of various ultrasonic powers (0, 300, 500, 700, and 900 W) on the structure and functional attributes of the myofibrillar protein (MP) of Tenebrio molitor. As the ultrasonic intensity escalated, the extraction efficiency and yield of the MP rose, while the particle size and turbidity decreased correspondingly. The reduction in sulfhydryl group content and the increase in carbonyl group content both suggested that ultrasonic treatment promoted the oxidation of the MP to a certain extent, which was conducive to the formation of a denser and more stable gel network structure. This was also affirmed by SEM images. Additionally, the findings of intrinsic fluorescence and FTIR indicated that high-intensity ultrasound significantly altered the secondary structure of the protein. The unfolding of the MP exposed more amino acid residues, the α-helix decreased, and the ß-helix improved, thereby resulting in a looser and more flexible conformation. Along with the structural alteration, the surface hydrophobicity and emulsification properties were also significantly enhanced. Besides that, SDS-PAGE demonstrated that the MP of T. molitor was primarily composed of myosin heavy chain (MHC), actin, myosin light chain (MLC), paramyosin, and tropomyosin. The aforementioned results confirmed that ultrasonic treatment could, to a certain extent, enhance the structure and function of mealworm MP, thereby providing a theoretical reference for the utilization of edible insect proteins in the future, deep-processing proteins produced by T. molitor, and the development of new technologies.

Lignin is endowed with antioxidant activity due to its diverse chemical structure. It is necessary to explore the relationship between antioxidant activity and the chemical structure of the lignin to develop its high-value utilization. Herein, we employed maleic acid (MA) as a hydrotropic agent to preferably isolate the lignin from distinct herbaceous sources (wheat straw and switchgrass) under atmospheric pressure conditions. The resultant acid hydrotropic lignin (AHL) isolated from wheat straw exhibited high radical scavenging rates, up to 98% toward DPPH and 94% toward ABTS. Further investigations indicated that during the MA hydrotropic fractionation (MAHF) process, lignin was carboxylated by MA at γ-OH of the side-chain, providing additional antioxidant activity from the carboxy group. It was also found that the radical scavenging rate of AHL has a positive correlation with carboxyl, phenolic hydroxyl contents, and the S-G (syringyl-guaiacyl) ratio, which could be realized by increasing the MAHF severity. Overall, this work underlies the enhancement origin of the antioxidant property of lignin, which will facilitate its application in biological fields as an efficient, cheap, and renewable antioxidant additive.

In this editorial, we comment on the article by Cao et al. Through applying isobaric tags for relative and absolute quantification technology coupled with liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry, the researchers observed significant differential expression of 47 proteins when comparing serum samples from pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) to the healthy ones. GDM symptoms may involve abnormalities in inflammatory response, complement system, coagulation cascade activation, and lipid metabolism. Retinol binding protein 4 and angiopoietin like 8 are potential early indicators of GDM. GDM stands out as one of the most prevalent metabolic complications during pregnancy and is linked to severe maternal and fetal outcomes like pre-eclampsia and stillbirth. Nevertheless, none of the biomarkers discovered so far have demonstrated effectiveness in predicting GDM. Our topic was designed to foster insights into advances in the application of proteomics for early prenatal screening of GDM.

BACKGROUND: Primary light chain amyloidosis is a rare and complex disease with complex clinical features and is highly susceptible to misdiagnosis and underdiagnosis in the early stages. CASE SUMMARY: We report a case of a 47-year-old female patient whose only initial symptom was periorbital purpura, which was not taken seriously enough. As the disease progressed, pleural effusion gradually appeared, and after systematic diagnosis and treatment, she was diagnosed with "primary light chain amyloidosis". She achieved rapid hematological remission after treatment with a daratumumab + bortezomib + cyclophosphamide + dexamethasone regimen. CONCLUSION: Periorbital purpura can be the only initial symptom of primary light chain amyloidosis; we should pay attention to the cases where the initial clinical symptoms are only periorbital purpura.

PURPOSE: The reconstruction of Allen's type IV fingertip amputation is a clinical challenge. Our team designed bilateral unequal-sized hallux osteo-onychocutaneous free flaps for the long-term reconstruction of Allen's type IV fingertip amputation and conducted a retrospective study with a 5-year follow-up aims to evaluate the effects of this technique. METHODS: A retrospective analysis with a 5-year follow-up including 13 patients with Allen's type IV fingertip amputation who were admitted to our hospital from January 2010 to January 2017 was conducted. The patients were treated with bilateral unequal-sized hallux osteo-onychocutaneous free flaps. The operation time, intraoperative blood loss, and complications were recorded, and the survival rate of the transplanted flaps was calculated. During the 5-year follow-up after operation, the nail growth time was recorded and the finger appearance was observed. At the last follow-up appointment, the length, width, and girth of the reconstructed fingertip and contralateral normal fingertip, range of motion of the reconstructed fingertip and contralateral normal fingertip, Semmes-Weinstein test (for the evaluation of tactile sensation), and two-point discrimination testing results were recorded. SPSS 22.0 software was used for the statistical analysis and the data are presented as mean ± SD. RESULTS: The mean operation time was (5.62 ± 0.51) h, the mean intraoperative blood loss was (34.15 ± 3.13) mL, and the survival rate of the transplanted flaps was 100%. During the 5-year follow-up, the average nail growth time was (10.14 ± 1.98) months and the average bone union time was (3.78 ± 0.91) months. The length, width, and girth of the reconstructed fingertip were (31.52 ± 3.73) mm, (17.82 ± 1.74) mm, and (59.75 ± 3.04) mm, respectively, which did not differ from those of the contralateral normal fingertip. The range of motion of the reconstructed fingertip was (12.15 ± 2.79) degrees which is different from that of the contralateral normal fingertip. The average tactile sensation evaluated via the Semmes-Weinstein test and the average two-point discrimination test of the reconstructed fingertip were (0.39 ± 0.17) g and (7.46 ± 1.14) mm, respectively, which were not different from those of the contralateral normal fingertip. The average Maryland score of feet in the donor area was 87.66 ± 7.39, which was satisfactory. CONCLUSION: Bilateral unequal-sized hallux osteo-onychocutaneous free flaps are an effective method to reconstruct Allen's type IV fingertip amputations with a satisfactory appearance and good sensory function.

Shrews (Soricidae) are common small wild mammals. Some species of shrews, such as Asian house shrews (Suncus murinus), have a significant overlap in their habitats with humans and domestic animals. Currently, over 190 species of viruses in 32 families, including Adenoviridae, Arenaviridae, Arteriviridae, Astroviridae, Anelloviridae, Bornaviridae, Caliciviridae, Chuviridae, Coronaviridae, Filoviridae, Flaviviridae, Hantaviridae, Hepadnaviridae, Hepeviridae, Nairoviridae, Nodaviridae, Orthoherpesviridae, Orthomyxoviridae, Paramyxoviridae, Parvoviridae, Phenuiviridae, Picobirnaviridae, Picornaviridae, Polyomaviridae, Poxviridae, Rhabdoviridae, Sedoreoviridae, Spinareoviridae, and three unclassified families, have been identified in shrews. Diverse shrew viruses, such as Borna disease virus 1, Langya virus, and severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome virus, cause diseases in humans and/or domestic animals, posing significant threats to public health and animal health. This review compiled fundamental information about shrews and provided a comprehensive summary of the viruses that have been detected in shrews, with the aim of facilitating a deep understanding of shrews and the diversity, epidemiology, and risks of their viruses.

Members of the glycosyltransferase 8 (GT8) family play an important role in regulating gene expression in response to many kinds of biotic and abiotic stress. In this study, 56 members of the apple GT8 family were identified, and their gene structure, phylogenetic relationships, chromosomal localization, and promoter cis-acting elements were comprehensively analyzed. Subsequently, 20 genes were randomly selected from the evolutionary tree for qRT-PCR detection, and it was found that MhGolS2 was significantly overexpressed under stress conditions. MhGolS2 was isolated from M.halliana and transgenic Arabidopsis thaliana, tobacco and apple callus tissues were successfully obtained. The transgenic plants grew better under stress conditions with higher polysaccharide, chlorophyll and proline content, lower conductivity and MDA content, significant increase in antioxidant enzyme activities (SOD, POD, CAT) and maintenance of low Na+/K+ as compared to the wild type. Meanwhile, the expression levels of reactive oxygen species-related genes (AtSOD, AtPOD, and AtCAT), Na+ transporter genes (AtCAX5, AtSOS1, and AtHKT1), H+-ATPase genes (AtAHA2 and AtAHA8), and raffinose synthesis-related genes (AtSTS, AtRFS1, and AtMIPS) were significantly up-regulated, while the expression levels of K+ transporter genes (AtSKOR, AtHAK5) were reduced. Finally, the Y2H experiment confirmed the interaction between MhGolS2 and MhbZIP23, MhMYB1R1, MhbHLH60, and MhNAC1 proteins. The above results indicate that MhGolS2 can improve plant saline-alkali tolerance by promoting polysaccharide synthesis, scavenging reactive oxygen species, and increasing the activity of antioxidant enzymes. This provides excellent stress resistance genes for the stress response regulatory network in apple.

Expansion of tandem repeats in genes often causes severe neuromuscular diseases, such as fragile X syndrome, Huntington's disease, and spinocerebellar ataxia. However, information on genes associated with repeat expansion diseases is scattered throughout the literature, systematic prediction of potential genes that may cause diseases via repeat expansion is also lacking. Here, we develop DRED, a Database of genes related to Repeat Expansion Diseases, as a manually-curated database that covers all known 61 genes related to repeat expansion diseases reported in PubMed and OMIM, along with detailed repeat information for each gene. DRED also includes 516 genes with the potential to cause diseases via repeat expansion, which were predicted based on their repeat composition, genetic variations, genomic features, and disease associations. Various types of information on repeat expansion diseases and their corresponding genes/repeats are presented in DRED, together with links to external resources, such as NCBI and ClinVar. DRED provides user-friendly interfaces with comprehensive functions, and can serve as a central data resource for basic research and repeat expansion disease-related medical diagnosis. DRED is freely accessible at http://omicslab.genetics.ac.cn/dred, and is frequently updated to include newly reported genes related to repeat expansion diseases.

BACKGROUND: As the global population ages, we witness a broad scientific and technological revolution tailored to meet the health challenges of older adults. Over the past 25 years, technological innovations, ranging from advanced medical devices to user-friendly mobile apps, are transforming the way we address these challenges, offering new avenues to enhance the quality of life and well-being of the aging demographic. OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to systematically review the development trends in technology for managing and caring for the health of older adults over the past 25 years and to project future development prospects. METHODS: We conducted a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of literatures related to technology-based solutions for health challenges in aging, published up to March 18, 2024. The search was performed using the Web of Science Core Collection, covering a span from 1999 to 2024. Our search strategy was designed to capture a broad spectrum of terms associated with aging, health challenges specific to older adults, and technological interventions. RESULTS: A total of 1133 publications were found in the Web of Science Core Collection. The publication trend over these 25 years showed a gradual but fluctuating increase. The United States was the most productive country and participated in international collaboration most frequently. The predominant keywords identified through this analysis included "dementia," "telemedicine," "older-adults," "telehealth," and "care." The keywords with citation bursts included "telemedicine" and "digital health." CONCLUSIONS: The scientific and technological revolution has significantly improved older adult health management, particularly in chronic disease monitoring, mobility, and social connectivity. The momentum for innovation continues to build, with future research likely to focus on predictive analytics and personalized health care solutions, further enhancing older adults' independence and quality of life.

Two-dimensional conjugated metal-organic frameworks (2D c-MOFs) have shown great promise in various electrochemical applications due to their intrinsic electrical conductivity. A large pore aperture is a favorable feature of this type of material because it facilitates the mass transport of chemical species and electrolytes. In this work, we propose a ligand insertion strategy in which a linear ligand is inserted into the linkage between multitopic ligands, extending the metal ion into a linear unit of -M-ligand-M-, for the construction of 2D c-MOFs with large pore apertures, utilizing only small ligands. As a proof-of-concept trial of this strategy, a 2D c-MOF with mesopores of 3.2 nm was synthesized using commercially available ligands hexahydrotriphenylene and 2,5-dihydroxybenzoquinone. The facilitation of the diffusion of redox species by the large pore size of this MOF was demonstrated through a series of probes. With this feature, it showed superior performance in the electrochemical analysis of a variety of biological species.

Common arterial grafts used in coronary artery bypass grafting include internal thoracic artery (ITA), radial artery (RA) and right gastroepiploic artery (RGA) grafts; of these, the ITA has the best clinical outcome. Here, by analyzing the single-cell transcriptome of different arterial grafts, we suggest optimization strategies for the RA and RGA based on the ITA as a reference. Compared with the ITA, the RA had more lipid-handling-related CD36+ endothelial cells. Vascular smooth muscle cells from the RGA were more susceptible to spasm, followed by those from the RA; comparison with the ITA suggested that potassium channel openers may counteract vasospasm. Fibroblasts from the RA and RGA highly expressed GDF10 and CREB5, respectively; both GDF10 and CREB5 are associated with extracellular matrix deposition. Cell-cell communication analysis revealed high levels of macrophage migration inhibitory factor signaling in the RA. Administration of macrophage migration inhibitory factor inhibitor to mice with partial carotid artery ligation blocked neointimal hyperplasia induced by disturbed flow. Modulation of identified targets may have protective effects on arterial grafts.

In the process of utilizing black soldier fly larvae (BSFL) lipids to develop biodiesel, many by-products will be produced, especially the underutilized protein components. These proteins can be recycled through appropriate treatment and technology, such as the preparation of feed, biofertilizers or other kinds of bio-products, so as to achieve the efficient use of resources and reduce the generation of waste. Myofibrillar protein (MP), as the most important component of protein, is highly susceptible to environmental influences, leading to oxidation and deterioration, which ultimately affects the overall performance of the protein and product quality. For it to be high-quality and fully exploited, in this study, black soldier fly myofibrillar protein (BMP) was extracted and primarily subjected to ultrasonic treatment to investigate the impact of varying ultrasonic powers (300, 500, 700, 900 W) on the structure and functional properties of BMP. The results indicated that as ultrasonic power increased, the sulfhydryl content and turbidity of BMP decreased, leading to a notable improvement in the stability of the protein emulsion system. SEM images corroborated the changes in the microstructure of BMP. Moreover, the enhancement of ultrasound power induced modifications in the intrinsic fluorescence spectra and FTIR spectra of BMP. Additionally, ultrasonic treatment resulted in an increase in carbonyl content and emulsifying activity of BMP, with both peaking at 500 W. It was noteworthy that BMP treated with ultrasound exhibited stronger digestibility compared to the untreated. In summary, 500 W was determined as the optimal ultrasound parameter for this study. Overall, ultrasound modification of insect MPs emerges as a dependable technique capable of altering the structure and functionality of BMP.

Atrial fibrosis is associated with the occurrence of atrial fibrillation (AF) and regulated by the transforming growth factor-ß1 (TGF-ß1)/Smad2/3 signalling pathway. Unfortunately, the mechanisms of regulation of TGF-ß1/Smad2/3-induced atrial fibrosis and vulnerability to AF remain still unknown. Previous studies have shown that sirtuin3 (SIRT3) sulfhydration has strong anti-fibrotic effects. We hypothesised that SIRT3 sulfhydration inhibits angiotensin II (Ang-II)-induced atrial fibrosis via blocking the TGF-ß1/Smad2/3 signalling pathway. In this study, we found that SIRT3 expression was decreased in the left atrium of patients with AF compared to that in those with sinus rhythm (SR). In vitro, SIRT3 knockdown by small interfering RNA significantly expanded Ang-II-induced atrial fibrosis and TGF-ß1/Smad2/3 signalling pathway activation, whereas supplementation with Sodium Hydrosulfide (NaHS, exogenous hydrogen sulfide donor and sulfhydration agonist) and SIRT3 overexpression using adenovirus ameliorated Ang-II-induced atrial fibrosis. Moreover, we observed suppression of the TGF-ß1/Smad2/3 pathway when Ang-II was combined with NaHS treatment, and the effect of this co-treatment was consistent with that of Ang-II combined with LY3200882 (Smad pathway inhibitor) on reducing atrial fibroblast proliferation and cell migration in vitro. Supplementation with dithiothreitol (DTT, a sulfhydration inhibitor) and adenovirus SIRT3 shRNA blocked the ameliorating effect of NaHS and AngII co-treatment on atrial fibrosis in vitro. Finally, continued treatment with NaHS in rats ameliorated atrial fibrosis and remodelling, and further improved AF vulnerability induced by Ang-II, which was reversed by DTT and adenovirus SIRT3 shRNA, suggesting that SIRT3 sulfhydration might be a potential therapeutic target in atrial fibrosis and AF.

RESUMO

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, is a complex disorder with an unknown cause. However, the dysbiosis of the gut microbiome has been found to play a role in IBD etiology, including exacerbated immune responses and defective intestinal barrier integrity. The gut microbiome can also be a potential biomarker for several diseases, including IBD. Currently, conventional treatments targeting pro-inflammatory cytokines and pathways in IBD-associated dysbiosis do not yield effective results. Other therapies that directly target the dysbiotic microbiome for effective outcomes are emerging. We review the role of the gut microbiome in health and IBD and its potential as a diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic target for IBD. This review also explores emerging therapeutic advancements that target gut microbiome-associated alterations in IBD, such as nanoparticle or encapsulation delivery, fecal microbiota transplantation, nutritional therapies, microbiome/probiotic engineering, phage therapy, mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), gut proteins, and herbal formulas.

INTRODUCTION: Handgrip strength and the 5-time chair-stand test are the two important muscle strength measures run through the whole sarcopenia diagnosis algorithm. There is a lack of evidence to confirm which muscle strength measures have a higher detection rate of sarcopenia among Chinese older adults, which is a challenge for community workers to choose the muscle strength measures and to identify more sarcopenia in clinical practice. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to investigate the prevalence and diagnostic agreement of sarcopenia based on handgrip strength and the 5-time chair-stand test among Chinese community-dwelling older adults. METHODS: This cross-sectional study sampled 1027 community-dwelling older adults from Hunan, China. We used handgrip strength and the 5-time chair-stand test to assess participants' muscle strength and used gait speed and bioimpedance analysis (BIA) to assess physical performance and skeletal muscle mass, respectively. The kappa values of the agreement test were used to evaluate the agreement of handgrip strength and 5-time chair-stand tests in the assessment of sarcopenia. RESULTS: A total of 1027 participants were included in this analysis including 337 males and 690 females with an average age of 70.35 ± 7.24 years. The prevalence of possible sarcopenia, confirmed sarcopenia and severe sarcopenia based on handgrip strength was 50.8%, 20.3% and 14.5% respectively, while the corresponding prevalence for using the 5-time chair-stand test was 27.6%, 10.8% and 10.9%. The kappa value of the consistency test between handgrip strength and 5-time chair-stand test in the assessment of possible sarcopenia, confirmed and severe sarcopenia was 0.26, 0.51 and 0.62, respectively (p < 0.001 for all). CONCLUSIONS: The prevalence of possible sarcopenia, confirmed sarcopenia and severe sarcopenia based on handgrip strength was significantly higher than that of the 5-time chair-stand test. We recommend handgrip strength as the preferred method of muscle strength measurement for Chinese community-dwelling older adults and use 5-time chair-stand tests when handgrip strength is not available. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: The findings provide information and suggestions to healthcare providers for choosing the muscle strength measures to detect more sarcopenia in clinical practice. Compared with the 5-time chair-stand test, handgrip strength has a better performance to identify sarcopenia in Chinese community-dwelling older adults.

A novel 3D magnetic nanocomposite material based on covalent organic polymers was successfully synthesized and utilized as an efficient sorbent for magnetic solid-phase extraction. It exhibited a regular core-shell structure, large specific surface area, superior stability, and paramagnetism. To evaluate its extraction efficiency, six flavonoids were tested, demonstrating maximum adsorption capacities ranging from 90 to 218 mg/g. Additionally, the material exhibited remarkable reusability and mechanical stability, maintaining its original state over eight cycles with consistent recovery. An analytical strategy combining magnetic solid-phase extraction with high performance liquid chromatography and tandem mass spectrometry was developed for the determination of flavonoids in orange, honey, soybean, and Dioscorea bulbifera L. samples. The low limits of detection (0.01-0.1 ng/mL) and limits of quantification (0.05-0.5 ng/mL), as well as satisfactory recovery (80.4-114.8%), were obtained. The linear range started from the limits of quantification to 500 ng/mL with R2 ≥ 0.9929. These results suggest that the prepared adsorbent possesses excellent adsorption capabilities for flavonoids, highlighting its significant potential for detecting these compounds in complex sample matrices.

RESUMO

Glioma is the most common intracranial malignant tumor, with severe difficulty in treatment and a low patient survival rate. Due to the heterogeneity and invasiveness of tumors, lack of personalized clinical treatment design, and physiological barriers, it is often difficult to accurately distinguish gliomas, which dramatically affects the subsequent diagnosis, imaging treatment, and prognosis. Fortunately, nano-delivery systems have demonstrated unprecedented capabilities in diagnosing and treating gliomas in recent years. They have been modified and surface modified to efficiently traverse BBB/BBTB, target lesion sites, and intelligently release therapeutic or contrast agents, thereby achieving precise imaging and treatment. In this review, we focus on nano-delivery systems. Firstly, we provide an overview of the standard and emerging diagnostic and treatment technologies for glioma in clinical practice. After induction and analysis, we focus on summarizing the delivery methods of drug delivery systems, the design of nanoparticles, and their new advances in glioma imaging and treatment in recent years. Finally, we discussed the prospects and potential challenges of drug-delivery systems in diagnosing and treating glioma.
