RESUMO
Hypertension is a common risk factor for cardiovascular disease. Pharmacogenomics, as a tool for personalized healthcare, helps in determining the optimal drug treatment based on the genome of individual patient. This study reports a 49-year-old male with acute cerebral infarction, pulmonary infection, extremely high-risk hypertension (grade3), type 2 diabetes, hyperhomocysteinemia, hyperlipidemia, and fatty liver. The patient initially received conventional systemic treatment but continued to have severe hypertension (159/85 mmHg). To better control blood pressure, a pharmacogenomic test was performed, and results showed that the SNP genotype of rs4961 (ADD1) suggests poor efficacy with certain antihypertensive drugs. The genotype of rs4149601 (NEDD4L) indicates better efficacy with hydrochlorothiazide, while the CYP3A5*3 genotype indicates a slow metabolism of calcium channel blockers, suggesting that amlodipine may be more effective than nifedipine. By replacing nifedipine with amlodipine and increasing the dosage of hydrochlorothiazide, the patient's systolic blood pressure was stabilized, although diastolic blood pressure remained suboptimal (131/91 mmHg). Despite low potassium levels, the patient was not sensitive to spironolactone (141/91 mmHg) but achieved exhibited well-controlled blood pressure (129/90 mmHg) with hydrochlorothiazide, consistent with pharmacogenomics recommendations. In summary, pharmacogenomics testing identified genetic variations influencing the patient's response to specific drugs, guiding their selection and administration. This approach can lead to better blood pressure control and reduce the risk of adverse drug events, highlighting the potential of personalized drugs in managing hypertension through pharmacogenomics.
RESUMO
OBJECTIVE: Focusing on the relationship between unpaid labor and the occurrence of depressive symptoms, this study aimed to explore the factors influencing the inequality of depressive symptoms and their contribution among Chinese urban and rural employed people. METHODS: This study utilized the 2020 China Family Panel Studies' national resampling data. Multivariate logistic regression was used to explore the factors influencing the occurrence of depressive symptoms among employed persons in urban and rural areas in China, respectively. Fairlie decomposition was used to explore the contribution of influencing factors such as unpaid labor to the difference in the occurrence of depressive symptoms between urban and rural areas. RESULTS: About 2,136 (21.70%) participants had depressive symptoms, of which 1,197 (24.75%) rural employed people had depressive symptoms and 939 (18.75%) urban employed people had depressive symptoms. The results of Fairlie decomposition analysis showed that 70.51% of the differences in depressive symptoms between urban and rural Chinese employed people could be explained by the covariates included in this study, including education level (52.44%), age (-11.91%), housework time (10.42%), self-rated health status (10.22%), self-rated income status (2.53%), exercise (2.36%), job satisfaction status (1.99%), chronic disease status (1.90%), and marital status (1.79%). CONCLUSION: This study found that the proportion of depressive symptoms was lower among urban employed residents than among rural employed residents. This difference was mainly caused by unpaid labor time, socioeconomic status, personal lifestyle, and health status. Housework, which is one of the unpaid labor, contributed to this depressive symptom difference in the third place.

Organic solar cells (OSCs) have attracted lots of attention owing to their low cost, lightweight, and flexibility properties. Nowadays, the performance of OSCs is continuously improving with the development of active layer materials. However, the traditional hole transport layer (HTL) material Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(styrenesulfonate) (PEDOT:PSS) presents insufficient conductivity and rapid degradation, which decreases the efficiency and stability of OSCs. To conquer the challenge, the two-dimensional (2D) graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) nanomaterials incorporated into the PEDOT:PSS as hybrid HTL are reported. The addition of g-C3N4 into PEDOT:PSS enables the thickness of the HTL to decrease for enhancing the transmittance of the film and increase the conductivity of PEDOT:PSS. Thus, the device exhibts improved charge transport and suppressed carrier recombination, leading to the increase in short-circuit current density and power conversion efficiency of the devices. This work demonstrates that the incorporation of 2D g-C3N4 into PEDOT:PSS for D18:Y6 and PM6:L8-BO-based OSCs can significantly improve the device efficiency to 17.48% and 18.47% with the enhancement of 7.04% and 8.46%, respectively.
RESUMO
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate smoking status and its influencing factors in high-income areas of China. DESIGN: Cross-sectional. SETTING: High-income areas in China. PARTICIPANTS: 4064 persons aged 15 years or older from the survey results in Global Adult Tobacco Survey-China 2018. METHODS: Gross national income data were used to determine China's high-income economic regions, and the results of the survey in Global Adult Tobacco Survey-China 2018 were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS: A total of 4064 people were included in our study, including 881 current smokers, 2884 who had never smoked and 299 who had quit smoking. Using the standardised rate method, the standardised smoking rates in high-income and non-high-income areas in China were calculated to be 23.56% and 27.77%, respectively. Men, high school education or below, knowledge of e-cigarette information, permission to smoke at home and people with poor smoking health literacy are the main influencing factors of smokers in high-income areas of China. CONCLUSION: The smoking rate of people in China's high-income areas is lower than the overall smoking rate in China, and we should increase the public awareness that smoking is harmful to health, encourage the prohibition of smoking at home, increase investment in higher education and improve residents' smoking health literacy level. The purpose of this study was to encourage reduction in the rate of smoking and better control the prevalence of smoking.

Cellulase production, lignocellulose saccharification and bioethanol fermentation were integrated to efficiently produce bioethanol. A modified gas lift bioreactor was developed for bioethanol production by the integrated process. Cellulase production was achieved using Aspergillus niger mycelia immobilized within the reactor in wire meshes, and Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells were immobilized in resin beads. During four repeated batches fermentation, cellulase activities were more than 6.28 U/mL and bioethanol production was over 45.9 g/L for 48 h. The factual bioethanol conversion efficiency was 86.8%. By the modification of the modified gas lift bioreactor, immobilization of Aspergillus niger mycelia and Saccharomyces cerevisiae cells, aerobic cellulase production, substrate saccharification and anaerobic bioethanol fermentation were successfully integrated in tandem. The integrated processes is of great significance in bioethanol production.

The genetic structure of one breeding population of mirror carp(Cyprinus carpio L.) was analysed using thirty-five polymorphic microsatellite markers. The effective number of alleles (Ae), observed heterozygosity (Ho), expected heterozygosity (He) and polymorphism information content(PIC) were all determined. The Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium was checked by chi-square test. For each locus, 2-7 alleles were detected, with a total of 118 alleles for 35 loci . The value of Ae, Ho, He and PIC showed that the genetic variation of the population was not high .The average effective number of alleles and the mean polymorphism information content were 2.16 and 0.42, respectively, and the observed and expected heterozygosity were 0.431 and 0.4736 , respectively. The probability value of chi-square test showed that more than half of the thirty-five loci have significantly (Plt;0.01) deviated from Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium. The correlation of genotype of each locus and individual phenotype data was analysed , and 4 loci seemed associated with body weight and body size . When compared with the result of QTL mapping of common carp, HLJ319 locus was consistent with the mapping result approximately, which was significantly correlated with body size . Several significantly deviated loci were also analysed, and the possible cause of the kind of deviation was discussed .
