RESUMO

The extracellular matrix (ECM) within the brain possesses a distinctive composition and functionality, influencing a spectrum of physiological and pathological states. Among its constituents, perineuronal nets (PNNs) are unique ECM structures that wrap around the cell body of many neurons and extend along their dendrites within the central nervous system (CNS). PNNs are pivotal regulators of plasticity in CNS, both during development and adulthood stages. Characterized by their condensed glycosaminoglycan-rich structures and heterogeneous molecular composition, PNNs not only offer neuroprotection but also participate in signal transduction, orchestrating neuronal activity and plasticity. Interfering with the PNNs in adult animals induces the reactivation of critical period plasticity, permitting modifications in neuronal connections and promoting the recovery of neuroplasticity following spinal cord damage. Interestingly, in the adult brain, PNN expression is dynamic, potentially modulating plasticity-associated states. Given their multifaceted roles, PNNs have emerged as regulators in the domains of learning, memory, addiction behaviors, and other neuropsychiatric disorders. In this review, we aimed to address how PNNs contribute to the memory processes in physiological and pathological conditions.

RESUMO

Zinc-based batteries (ZBBs) have demonstrated considerable potential among secondary batteries, attributing to their advantages including good safety, environmental friendliness, and high energy density. However, ZBBs still suffer from issues such as the formation of zinc dendrites, occurrence of side reactions, retardation of reaction kinetics, and shuttle effects, posing a great challenge for practical applications. As promising porous materials, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and their derivatives have rigid skeletons, ordered structures, and permanent porosity, which endow them with great potential for application in ZBBs. This review, therefore, provides a systematic overview detailing on COFs structure pertaining to electrochemical performance of ZBBs, following an in depth discussion of the challenges faced by ZBBs, which includes dendrites and side reactions at the anode, as well as dissolution, structural change, slow kinetics, and shuttle effect at the cathode. Then, the structural advantages of COF-correlated materials and their roles in various ZBBs are highlighted. Finally, the challenges of COF-correlated materials in ZBBs are outlined and an outlook on the future development of COF-correlated materials for ZBBs is provided. The review would serve as a valuable reference for further research into the utilization of COF-correlated materials in ZBBs.

RESUMO

Due to its stability and low cost, the tunnel-style sodium-manganese oxide (Na0.44MnO2) material is deemed a popular cathode choice for sodium-ion rechargeable batteries. However, the Jahn-Teller effect caused by Mn3+ in the material results in poor capacity and cycling stability. The purpose of this experimental study is to partially replace Mn3+ with Fe3+, in order to reduce the Jahn-Teller effect of the material during charging and discharging process. The results of Raman spectroscopy and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy confirmed that the content of Mn3+ decreased after Fe3+ doping. Electrochemical studies show that the Na0.44Mn0.994Fe0.006O2 cathode has better rate performance (exhibits a reversible capacity of 87.9 mAh/g at 2 C) and cycle stability in sodium-ion batteries. The diffusion coefficient of sodium ions increases by Fe3+ doping. The excellent rate performance and capacity improvement are verified by density functional theory (DFT) calculation. After doping, the band gap decreases significantly, and the results show that the state density of O 2p increases near the Fermi level, which promotes the oxidation-reduction of oxygen. This work provides a straightforward approach to enhance the performance of Na0.44MnO2 nanorods, and this performance improvement has guiding significance for the design of other materials in the energy storage domain.

RESUMO

The Zn anode of aqueous zinc ion batteries (AZIBs) have suffered from a series of rampant side reactions such as dendrite growth and corrosion, which seriously affect the reversibility and stability of Zn anodes. Herein, a polycarbonyl polymer poly(1,4,5,8-naphthalene tetracarboxylic anhydride anthraquinone) imine (PNAQI) as the protective coating is synthesized through a simple solvothermal method with the raw materials of the equimolar 1,4,5,8-naphthalenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (NTCDA) and 2, 6-aminoanthraquinone (2,6-DAAQ). A series of characterizations such as contact angle measurement and ex-situ XRD analysis confirm that it can effectively prevent some side reactions. Moreover, CO on PNAQI can regulate the uniform distribution of zinc, thereby preventing the occurrence of zinc dendrites. Finally, the PNAQI@Zn//PNAQI@Zn symmetrical cell demonstrates a long cycle life exceeding 1000 h at current density of 1.0 mA cm-2 and a capacity of 1.0 mAh cm-2. The result significantly outperforms the cycling performance of the cell with bare zinc anode. Especially, the full battery of PNAQI@Zn//NH4V4O10 demonstrates an excellent capacity retention and prolonged cycle life (96.9 mAh/g after 1000 cycles at 1.0 A/g) compared to Zn//NH4V4O10. This work provides an effective, simple and low-cost solution for developing high-performance AZIBs.

RESUMO

A sulfur vacancy-rich, Sn-doped as well as carbon-coated MoS2 composite (Vs-SMS@C) is rationally synthesized via a simple hydrothermal method combined with ball-milling reduction, which enhances the sodium storage performance. Benefiting from the 3D fast Na+ transport network composed of the defective carbon coating, Mo─S─C bonds, enlarged interlayer spacing, S-vacancies, and lattice distortion in the composite, the Na+ storage kinetics is significantly accelerated. As expected, Vs-SMS@C releases an ultrahigh reversible capacity of 1089 mAh g-1 at 0.1 A g-1 , higher than the theoretical capacity. It delivers a satisfactory capacity of 463 mAh g-1 at a high current density of 10 A g-1 , which is the state-of-the-art rate capability compared to other MoS2 based sodium ion battery anodes to the knowledge. Moreover, a super long-term cycle stability is achieved by Vs-SMS@C, which keeps 91.6% of the initial capacity after 3000 cycles under the current density of 5 A g-1 in the voltage of 0.3-3.0 V. The sodium storage mechanism of Vs-SMS@C is investigated by employing electrochemical methods and ex situ techniques. The synergistic effect between S-vacancies and doped-Sn is evidenced by DFT calculations. This work opens new ideas for seeking excellent metal sulfide anodes.

RESUMO

Alanine is widely employed for synthesizing polymers, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals. Electrocatalytic coupling of biomass molecules and waste nitrate is attractive for the nitrate removal and alanine production under ambient conditions. However, the reaction efficiency is relatively low due to the activation of the stable substrates, and the coupling of two reactive intermediates remains challenging. Herein, we realize the integrated tandem electrochemical-chemical-electochemical synthesis of alanine from the biomass-derived pyruvic acid (PA) and waste nitrate (NO3 - ) catalyzed by PdCu nano-bead-wires (PdCu NBWs). The overall reaction pathway is demonstrated as a multiple-step catalytic cascade process via coupling the reactive intermediates NH2 OH and PA on the catalyst surface. Interestingly, in this integrated tandem electrochemical-chemical-electrochemical catalytic cascade process, Cu facilitates the electrochemical reduction of nitrate to NH2 OH intermediates, which chemically couple with PA to form the pyruvic oxime, and Pd promotes the electrochemical reduction of pyruvic oxime to the desirable alanine. This work provides a green strategy to convert waste NO3 - to wealth and enriches the substrate scope of renewable biomass feedstocks to produce high-value amino acids.

RESUMO

To alleviate the depletion of lithium resources and improve battery capacity and rate capacity, the development of aqueous zinc-ion batteries (AZIBs) is crucial. The open channels monoclinic structure Li3V2(PO4)3 is conducive to the transfer and diffusion of guest ions, making it a promising cathode material for AZIBs. Therefore, in this study, nanoneedles and particles Li3V2(PO4)3 cathode materials for AZIBs were prepared by a hydrothermal assisted sol-gel method, and the effect of synthesized pH values was studied. XRD results show that all samples had the monoclinic structure, and the Li3V2(PO4)3 sample prepared at pH = 7 exhibits (LVP-pH7) the highest peak tips and narrowest peak widths. SEM images demonstrate that all samples have the morphology character of randomly oriented needles and irregular particles, with the LVP-pH7 sample having more needle-like particles that contribute to ion diffusion. EDS results show uniform distribution of P, V, and O elements in the LVP-pH7 sample, and no obvious aggregation phenomenon is observed. Electrochemical tests have shown that the LVP-pH7 sample exhibits excellent cycling performance (97.37% after 50 cycles at 200 mA g-1) and rate ability compared to other samples. The CV test results showed that compared with other samples, the LVP-pH7 sample had the most excellent ionic diffusion coefficient (2.44 × 10-12 cm2 s-1). Additionally, the Rct of LVP-pH7 is the lowest (319.83 Ω) according to the findings of EIS and Nyquist plot fitting, showing a decreased charge transfer resistance and raising the kinetics of the reaction.

RESUMO

To further reduce the fabrication difficulty of optical fiber sensors and improve the sensing performance, this study introduced the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) effect into optical fiber sensing technology and designed an eccentric-core photonic crystal fiber (EC-PCF). We investigated the characteristics of the two fundamental modes in the fiber core and the surface plasmon polariton (SPP) modes on the surface of the gold film. We also investigated the influence of the structural parameters, such as gold film coating area and thickness, air hole diameter, and eccentricity, on the confinement loss and achieved a refractive index (RI) sensitivity of 31.25 µm RIU-1 in the RI range of 1.29-1.43, corresponding to a figure of merit (FOM) of 521.6 per RIU. When the resolution of the optical spectrum analyzer was 0.1 nm, the EC-PCF could achieve a refractive index resolution of 3.2 × 10-6 RIU. Moreover, we performed tests with two typical sensing types, one in which the sensor was directly in contact with adulterated gasoline to achieve kerosene-concentration detection, and another in which the sensor was coated with a layer of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), whose RI is sensitive to the temperature field, to achieve temperature sensing. The EC-PCF demonstrated excellent sensing performance and offers obvious manufacturing advantages, providing a new and easily fabricated structural design idea for optical fiber sensing.

RESUMO

(1) Background: Goose meat is highly valued for its economic significance and vast market potential due to its desirable qualities, including a rich nutritional profile, tender texture, relatively low-fat content, and high levels of beneficial unsaturated fatty acids. However, there is an urgent need to improve goose breeding by identifying molecular markers associated with meat quality. (2) Methods: We evaluated meat quality traits, such as meat color, shear force (SF), cooking loss rate (CLR), and crude fat content (CFC), in a population of 215 male Sichuan white geese at 70 days of age. A GWAS was performed to identify potential molecular markers associated with goose meat quality. Furthermore, the selected SNPs linked to meat quality traits were genotyped using the MALDI-TOP MS method. (3) Results: A dataset of 2601.19 Gb of WGS data was obtained from 215 individuals, with an average sequencing depth of 10.89×. The GWAS revealed the identification of 43 potentially significant SNP markers associated with meat quality traits in the Sichuan white goose population. Additionally, 28 genes were identified as important candidate genes for meat quality. The gene enrichment analysis indicated a substantial enrichment of genes within a 1Mb vicinity of SNPs in both the protein digestion and absorption pathway and the Glycerolipid metabolism pathway. (4) Conclusion: This study provides valuable insights into the genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying goose meat quality traits, offering crucial references for molecular breeding in this field.

RESUMO

Aqueous Zn-ion batteries (AZIBs) attract intensive attention owing to their environmental friendliness, cost-effectiveness, innate safety, and high specific capacity. However, the practical applications of AZIBs are hindered by several adverse phenomena, including corrosion, Zn dendrites, and hydrogen evolution. Herein, a Zn anode decorated with a 3D porous-structured Na3 V2 (PO4)3 (NVP@Zn) is obtained, where the NVP reconstruct the electrolyte/anode interface. The resulting NVP@Zn anode can provide a large quantity of fast and stable channels, facilitating enhanced Zn ion deposition kinetics and regulating the Zn ions transport process through the ion confinement effect. The NASICON-type NVP protective layer promote the desolvation process due to its nanopore structure, thus effectively avoiding side reactions. Theoretical calculations indicate that the NVP@Zn electrode has a higher Zn ion binding energy and a higher migration barrier, which demonstrates that NVP protective layer can enhance Zn ion deposition kinetics and prevent the unfettered 2D diffusion of Zn ions. Therefore, the results show that NVP@Zn/MnO2 full cell can maintain a high specific discharge capacity of 168 mAh g-1 and a high-capacity retention rate of 74.6% after cycling. The extraordinary results obtained with this strategy have confirmed the promising applications of NVP in high-performance AZIBs.

RESUMO

With the development of science and technology, intermediate infrared technology has gained more and more attention in recent years. In the research described in this paper, a tunable broadband absorber based on a Dirac semimetal with a layered resonant structure was designed, which could achieve high absorption (more than 0.9) of about 8.7 THz in the frequency range of 18-28 THz. It was confirmed that the high absorption of the absorber comes from the strong resonance absorption between the layers, and the resonance of the localised surface plasmon. The absorber has a gold substrate, which is composed of three layers of Dirac semimetal and three layers of optical crystal plates. In addition, the resonance frequency of the absorber can be changed by adjusting the Fermi energy of the Dirac semimetal. The absorber also shows excellent characteristics such as tunability, absorption stability at different polarisation waves and incident angles, and has a high application value for use in radar countermeasures, biotechnology and other fields.

RESUMO

In order to improve the performance of optical fiber sensing and expand its application, a photonic crystal fiber (PCF) plasmonic sensor with a U-shaped channel based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR) is proposed. We have studied the general influence rules of structural parameters such as the radius of the air hole, the thickness of the gold film and the number of U-shaped channels using COMSOL based on the finite element method. The dispersion curves and loss spectrum of the surface plasmon polariton (SPP) mode and the Y-polarization (Y-pol) mode as well as the distribution of the electric field intensity (normE) under various conditions are studied using the coupled mode theory. The maximum refractive index (RI) sensitivity achieved in the RI range of 1.38-1.43 is 24.1 µm RIU-1, which corresponds to a full width at half maximum (FWHM) of 10.0 nm, a figure of merit (FOM) of 2410 RIU-1 and a resolution of 4.15 × 10-6 RIU. The results show that the proposed sensor combines the SPR effect, which is extremely sensitive to changes in the RI of the surrounding medium and realizes real-time detection of the external environment by analyzing the light signal modulated by the sensor. In addition, the detection range and sensitivity can be extended by adjusting the structural parameters. The proposed sensor has a simple structure with excellent sensing performance, which provides a new idea and implementation method for real-time detection, long-range measurement, complex environment monitoring and highly integrated sensing, and has a strong potential practical value.

RESUMO

Facilitation of the photocarrier separation is a crucial strategy for developing highly efficient photocatalysts in eliminating environmental pollutants. Herein we have developed a new kind of Ag2MoO4/ZnWO4 (AMO/ZWO) composite photocatalysts with a Z-scheme mechanism by anchoring AMO nanoparticles onto ZWO nanorods. Multiple characterization methodologies and density functional theory (DFT) calculations were employed to study the performances of the AMO/ZWO heterojunctions as well as the underlying photocatalytic mechanism. Simulated-sunlight-driven photodegradation experiments for removing methylene blue (MB) demonstrates that the 8%AMO/ZWO heterojunction can photocatalytically remove 99.8% of MB within 60 min, and the reaction rate constant is obtained as 0.10199 min-1, which is enhanced by 6.8 (or 4.9) times when compared with that of pure ZWO (or AMO). On the base of the experimental results and DFT calculations, the enhanced photocatalytic mechanism of the AMO/ZWO heterojunctions was revealed to be the efficient separation of photocarriers via a Z-scheme transfer process. In addition, photodegradion of various organic pollutants over 8%AMO/ZWO was further compared and aimed at incorporating it into industrial application in pollutant removal.

RESUMO

How to facilitate photogenerated-carrier separation is an important step in developing excellent semiconductor photocatalysts for environmental pollutant removal. Herein, Ag2MoO4 (AMO) nanoparticles were assembled onto the surface of BiOBr (BOB) nanosheets to construct a highly efficient Z-scheme AMO/BOB heterojunction photocatalyst. Several analytical techniques were used to elucidate the characteristics and photocatalytic mechanism of the AMO/BOB heterojunction. Photodegradation experiments for removing methylene blue under simulated-sunlight irradiation reveal that a 20%AMO/BOB heterojunction exhibits excellent photodegradation activity with η(30 min) = 93.8% and kapp = 0.08638 min-1, which were greater by 4.5 and 5.6 times in comparison with that of pure BOB and AMO, respectively. Based on the experimental and density functional theory (DFT) calculation results, it is proposed that the Z-scheme carrier transfer/separation mechanism dominates the enhanced photodegradation performance of the composite photocatalysts. Additionally, the potential application of AMO/BOB photocatalysts in degrading various organic pollutants (including organic dyes, antibiotics and other serious organic pollutants) was also investigated.

RESUMO

This paper proposes a tunable sensing detector based on Bulk Dirac semimetals (BDS). The bottom-middle-top structure of the detector is a metal-dielectric-Dirac semimetal. The designed detector is simulated in the frequency domain by the finite element method (FEM). And the simulation results indicate that the detector achieves three perfect absorption peaks with absorptivity greater than 99.8% in the range of 2.4-5.2 THz. We analyze the cause of the absorption peak by using random phase approximation theory. The device exhibits good angular insensitivity in different incident angle ranges, and the three absorption peaks can reach 90% absorption rate when the incident angle is in the ranges of 0-60°. And when adjusting the Fermi level of BDS in the ranges of 0.1-0.5 eV, our detector can realize the frequency regulation of the ultra-wide range of 3.90-4.56 THz and realize multi-frequency controllable sensing while maintain the absorption efficiency above 96%. The detector has maximum sensitivity S of 238.0 GHz per RIU when the external environment of the refractive index changes from 1.0 to 1.8, and the maximum detection accuracy is 6.5. The device has broad development prospects in the field of space detection and high-sensitivity biosensing detection.

RESUMO

MC1R plays an important role in the regulation of the formation, transfer, and deposition of melanin in animals and is important for determining coat color. Many studies have reported on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the coding sequence of MC1R. However, few studies have investigated the polymorphisms in the 5'-flanking sequence of MC1R. In this study, we sequenced 2000 bp of the 5'-flanking sequence of MC1R in 300 Taihang chickens with brown feathers (MTH) and 300 Taihang chickens with black feathers (HTH). The sequencing results showed that 4 SNPs (MC1R g.18838722 G > C, g.18838624 T > C, g.18838694 G > A, and g.18838624 C > T) were located in the 5'-flanking sequence of MC1R between the MTH and HTH groups. Association analysis showed that there was a significant correlation between the 4 SNPs and feather color in Taihang chickens. The correlation between MC1R g.18838624 T >C and feather color of Taihang chicken was 100%, of which the CC (E1) genotype is MTH and the TT (E2) genotype is HTH. Furthermore, there was a significant correlation between MC1R g.18838624 T > C and egg production at 302 d. E1 (184.14 ± 0.674) was significantly higher than that in E2 (181.75 ± 0.577) (P < 0.05). Luciferase reporter assays were used to detect the transcriptional activity of MC1R with different SNP genotypes. The results showed that the luciferase activity of E2 was significantly higher than that of E1 (P < 0.05). In addition, transcription factor-binding site predictions showed that E2 creates a new binding site for ZEB1. RT‒qPCR results revealed that the expression of MC1R in E2 was significantly lower than that in E1 (P < 0.05), and the expression of ZEB1 in E2 was significantly higher than that in E1 (P < 0.05). Overexpression and shRNA experiments demonstrated that ZEB1 regulates the expression of MC1R in DF1 cells. ZEB1 has a negative regulatory effect on the transcriptional activity of MC1R; it inhibits the expression of MC1R and affects the feather color of Taihang chickens. This study provides new insight into the molecular mechanism of feather color formation and the transcriptional regulation of MC1R in Taihang chickens.

RESUMO

The paper proposes an ultra-narrow band graphene refractive index sensor, consisting of a patterned graphene layer on the top, a dielectric layer of SiO2 in the middle, and a bottom Au layer. The absorption sensor achieves the absorption efficiency of 99.41% and 99.22% at 5.664 THz and 8.062 THz, with the absorption bandwidths 0.0171 THz and 0.0152 THz, respectively. Compared with noble metal absorbers, our graphene absorber can achieve tunability by adjusting the Fermi level and relaxation time of the graphene layer with the geometry of the absorber unchanged, which greatly saves the manufacturing cost. The results show that the sensor has the properties of polarization-independence and large-angle insensitivity due to the symmetric structure. In addition, the practical application of testing the content of hemoglobin biomolecules was conducted, the frequency of first resonance mode shows a shift of 0.017 THz, and the second resonance mode has a shift of 0.016 THz, demonstrating the good frequency sensitivity of our sensor. The S (sensitivities) of the sensor were calculated at 875 GHz/RIU and 775 GHz/RIU, and quality factors FOM (Figure of Merit) are 26.51 and 18.90, respectively; and the minimum limit of detection is 0.04. By comparing with previous similar sensors, our sensor has better sensing performance, which can be applied to photon detection in the terahertz band, biochemical sensing, and other fields.

RESUMO

In this paper, a dual-parameter sensor based on surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-photonic crystal fiber (PCF) is proposed, which can be applied in detecting the magnetic field and temperature. In this sensor, two elliptical channels are designed on both sides of the fiber core. The left channel (Ch 1) is coated with gold film and filled with magnetic fluid (MF) to achieve a response to the magnetic field and temperature using SPR. The right channel (Ch 2) is coated with gold film as well as Ta2O5 film to improve the SPR sensing performance. Finally, Ch 2 is filled with polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) to achieve a response to the temperature. The mode characteristics, structural parameters and sensing performance are investigated by the finite element method. The results show that when the magnetic field is in the range of 50-130 Oe, the magnetic field sensitivities of Ch 1 and Ch 2 are 65 pm Oe-1 and 0 pm Oe-1, respectively. When the temperature is in the range of 17.5-27.5 °C, the temperature sensitivities of Ch 1 and Ch 2 are 520 pm °C-1 and 2360 pm °C-1, respectively. By establishing and demodulating a sensing matrix, the sensor can not only measure the temperature and magnetic field simultaneously but also solve the temperature cross-sensitivity problem. In addition, when the temperature exceeds a certain value, the proposed sensor is expected to achieve dual-parameter sensing without a matrix. The proposed dual-parameter SPR-PCF sensor has a unique structure and excellent sensing performance, which are important for the simultaneous sensing of multiple basic physical parameters.

RESUMO

3-Methylmethcathinone (3-MMC), a drug belonging to synthetic cathinones family, raised public attention due to its harmful health effects and abuse potential. Although it has similar properties to other cathinone derivatives, the behavioral effects of 3-MMC remain largely unknown. In the present research, we evaluated the rewarding effect of 3-MMC using conditioned place preference (CPP) paradigm and its effect on anxiety-like behavior using elevated plus maze (EPM) and compared with methamphetamine (METH). Then, we performed a whole-brain c-Fos mapping to identify the specific brain regions in response to 3-MMC exposure and explored the changes of synaptic transmission in nucleus accumbens (NAc) using patch-clamp recording after chronic 3-MMC and METH exposure. 3-MMC induced CPP at higher doses of 3 or 10 mg/kg in rats and acute exposure of 3 mg/kg 3-MMC to rats produced anxiolytic-like effect, while anxiety-like behavior was increased after 7 days of injection with 3-MMC. Whole-brain immunostaining revealed increased c-Fos expression in anterior cingulate cortex (ACC), NAc and ventral tegmental area (VTA) after chronic 3-MMC injection compared with saline, which was similar to METH. Especially, 3-MMC induced more neural activation of VTA compared with METH. Finally, we found that amplitude of spontaneous inhibitory postsynaptic currents (sIPSCs) in NAc was decreased after chronic 3-MMC injection, while frequency of sIPSCs and spontaneous excitatory postsynaptic currents (sEPSCs) were not affected. Taken together, our results revealed the addictive potential of 3-MMC and its effect on anxiety-like behavior, which warn the risks of 3-MMC abuse and justify the control of synthetic cathinones. And 3-MMC selectively inhibit inhibitory but not excitatory transmission onto neurons in NAc, which may contribute to its effects.
