BACKGROUND: Demoralization, a significant mental health concern in patients with chronic diseases, can have a large impact on physical symptom burden and quality of life. The present review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions for demoralization among patients with chronic diseases. METHOD: PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science were systematically searched. Research on providing interventions to patients with chronic diseases that included quantitative data on demoralization was then systematically reviewed. RESULTS: Fourteen studies were included, most of which considered demoralization as a secondary outcome. Interventions included evidence-based meaning-centered psychotherapy, dignity therapy, psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy, and others. Ten studies used randomized controlled designs. Six of these investigated evidence-based meaning-centered therapy, and four investigated dignity therapy, showing the best empirical support for these intervention types. Most studies showed significant impacts on demoralization in patients with chronic diseases. CONCLUSION: This systematic review provides insights into potential psychological interventions for reducing demoralization in patients with chronic diseases. Randomized controlled designs and adequately powered samples, with demoralization as the primary outcome, are needed to more clearly evaluate its effectiveness.

BACKGROUND: Female breast cancer is the most common cancer nowadays, and its treatment has a significant impact on patients both physically and psychologically. Many randomized trials have proved that case management (CM) can effectively care for patients. However, there is a lack of systematic scientific evaluation, so this systematic evaluation aims to explore the impact of CM on breast cancer patients. METHODS: PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, Scopus, CINAHL were searched. Chinese repositories included China National Knowledge, Infrastructure Database (CNKI), Wan fang Database, China Biology Medicine Database. We will also search unpublished literature at ClinicalTrials.gov. Randomized controlled trials were collected from them. The literature will be screened according to inclusion and exclusion criteria, and 2 researchers will extract the literature independently. The primary outcome indicator for this study will be patient satisfaction. Statistics were performed using RevMan 5.4 software. The quality of each outcome will be evaluated using the Grading of Recommendations Assessment, Development, and Evaluation. RESULTS: This study will provide the most recent evidence for evaluating the impact of CM on breast cancer patients. CONCLUSION: To evaluate the impact of CM on patients with breast cancer. Biochar is a low cost and renewable adsorbent which can be used to remove dye from wastewater. Cattle manure-derived low temperature biochar (CMB) was studied to remove methylene blue (MB) from aqueous solution in this paper. The effect of factors including initial concentration of MB, dosage, contact time, and pH on the adsorption properties of MB onto biochar were studied. Characterization of the CMB and MB adsorbed on CMB was performed using techniques including BET, FTIR and SEM. The adsorption isotherm, kinetics, thermodynamics and mechanism were also studied. The results showed the equilibrium data were well fitted to the Langmuir isotherm model, and the saturation adsorption capacity of CMB200 was 241.99 mg g-1. Pseudo-second order kinetics was the most suitable model for describing the adsorption of MB onto biochar. The adsorption thermodynamics of MB on biochar showed that the adsorption was a spontaneous and endothermic process. Through zeta potential measurement, Boehm titration, cation exchange, deashing and esterification experiments, the importance of ash to adsorption was verified, as well as the adsorption mechanism. The adsorption mechanism of MB on CMB200 involved cation exchange, electrostatic interaction, hydrogen bonding, physical effects and others. This work shows that CMB200 holds promise to act as an effective adsorbent to remove MB in wastewater.
