RESUMO

A yellow, Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, and rod-shaped strain, designated as C18T, was isolated from seawater in the tidal region of Taizhou. Growth of strain C18T occurs at 20-45 °C, at pH 5.5-8.0 and with 1.0-8.0% (w/v) NaCl. The 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis showed that strain C18T shared sequence identities with the genera Erythrobacter (< 98.4%), Qipengyuania (< 98.0%), Altererythrobacter (< 96.4%), Parerythrobacter (< 96.2%), Aurantiacibacter (< 96.2%), Tsuneonella (< 96.0%), Pelagerythrobacter (< 96.0%), Alteriqipengyuania (< 95.9%), and Parapontixanthobacter (< 95.7%) type strains. While the phylogenomic tree based on single-copy orthologous clusters revealed that strain C18T was stably clustered into the genus Parerythrobacter. Average nucleotide identity and digital DNA-DNA hybridization values of strain C18T and Parerythrobacter type strains were 73.5-75.2% and 18.5-19.4%, respectively, which were lower than the species delineation thresholds. The sole respiratory quinones were identified as ubiquinone-10. The major fatty acids (> 10%) were C17:1ω6c and summed feature 8 (C18:1ω7c and/or C18:1ω6c). Polar lipids included diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol, sphingoglycolipid, an unidentified phospholipid, and an unidentified aminophospholipid. Based on the genetic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic results, strain C18T is concluded to represent a novel species in the genus Parerythrobacter, for which the name Parerythrobacter aestuarii sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is C18T (= KCTC 82594T = MCCC 1K05109T).

RESUMO

A novel bacterium, designated as strain YS8-69T, was isolated from an inland closed lake, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, PR China. Comparative analysis of the 16S rRNA gene sequence shows the strain was affiliated to the genus Limnobacter, in the family Burkholderiaceae, with the highest similarities to Limnobacter alexandrii LZ-4T (98.93%), Limnobacter thiooxidans DSM 13612T (98.55%), Limnobacter humi NBRC 111650T (97.66%), and Limnobacter litoralis KP1-19T (97.04%). Strain YS8-69T was a Gram stain-negative, strictly aerobic, rod shaped, catalase- and oxidase-positive bacterium, and growth was observed at 4-40 °C (optimum, 25 °C), pH 7.0-10.0 (optimum, pH 7.0), and 0-3% (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 0.5%). The principal fatty acids were C16:0, summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c and/or C16:1 ω6c), and summed feature 8 (C18:1 ω7c and/or C18:1 ω6c). The sole respiratory quinone was Q-8 and total polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol (DPG), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), an unidentified aminolipid (AL), two unidentified glycolipids (GL1,2), an unidentified amino phosphoglycolipid (APGL), two unidentified phospholipids (PL1,2), two unidentified aminophospholipids (APL1,2), and three unidentified lipids (L1,2,3). The average nucleotide identity (ANI) values and in silico DDH between strain YS8-69T and L. alexandrii LZ-4T, L. thiooxidans JCM 13612T, and L. humi DSM 111650T were 73.0-80.6% and 15.8-50.2%, respectively. The genome sequence showed a length of 3,162,663 bp, with 20 contigs and 51.7% of G + C content. Based on physiological, chemotaxonomic, genotypic characteristics, and phylogenetic results, we propose that strain YS8-69T represents a novel specie of the genus Limnobacter, for which the name Limnobacter parvus sp. nov. is proposed (type strain YS8-69T = MCCC 1K08015T = KCTC 92278T).

RESUMO

A novel aerobic Gram-negative strain, designated as YB25T, was isolated from an activated sludge sample collected from a seafood processing plant in Zhoushan, Zhejiang Province, China, and characterized by using a polyphasic taxonomic approach in this study. Strain YB25T was motile by gliding, and short-rod-shaped. The isolate grew at 4-37 °C (optimum 28 °C), pH 6.0-9.0 (optimum pH 7.0) and 0.0-10.0% NaCl (optimum 2.0%, w/v). Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene indicated that strain YB25T belonged to the genus Gramella, and showed the highest sequence similarity of 97.59% to Gramella lutea YJ019T. The DNA G + C content was 39.5%. In silico DNA-DNA hybridization (DDH) and average nucleotide identity (ANI) values between strain YB25T with most closely strains were below the threshold, which is considered to the phylogenetic definition of a novel species. Chemotaxonomic analysis indicated that the only respiratory quinone was menaquinone-6 and the major fatty acids were iso-C15:0, anteiso-C15:0, iso-C17:0 3-OH, and summed feature 9 (iso-C17:1ω9c and C16:0 10 methyl). The polar lipid profile was composed of phosphatidylethanolamine, an unidentified phospholipid, two unidentified amino lipids, three unidentified glycolipids, and four unidentified lipids. Compared with the reference strains, strain YB25T contained higher abundance of genes for carbohydrates metabolism, nitrogen metabolism, sulfur metabolism and respiration based on its genomic metabolic pathways and had been found a certain potential in the degradation of pectin. On the basis of the taxonomic evidence, strain YB25T represents a novel species of the genus Gramella, for which the name Gramella crocea sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is YB25T (= KCTC 82680 T = MCCC 1K05761T).

RESUMO

Cells of members of the family Clostridiaceae, phylum Firmicutes, are generally obligate anaerobic rods. Strains D2Q-14T and D2Q-11T were isolated from sediment of the saline lake Manisi in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, PR China. In this study, we employed a polyphasic approach and whole genome analysis of the two isolates. Cells of both isolates were Gram-stain-positive rods that were motile by means of flagella and could utilize sulphate, thiosulphate, elemental sulphur and nitrate as electron acceptors. Phylogenetic analyses based on 16S rRNA gene and whole genome sequences indicated that strains D2Q-14T and D2Q-11T constituted a coherent cluster affiliated to the family Clostridiaceae. In addition, genome analysis revealed that strain D2Q-14Tharboured one nonribosomal peptide synthetase gene cluster, making up 1.4 % of the entire genome. The genome-based analysis, including average nucleotide identity, average amino acid identity and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization, biochemical, phenotypic and chemotaxonomic characterization, indicated that strains D2Q-14T and D2Q-11T represented two novel species of a novel genus in the family Clostridiaceae, for which we propose the names Anaeromonas gelatinilytica gen. nov., sp. nov. and Anaeromonas frigoriresistens sp. nov., with the type strains D2Q-14T (=KCTC 15986T=MCCC 1K04634T) and D2Q-11T (=KCTC 15985T=MCCC 1K04391T), respectively.

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-negative, motile, aerobic, rod-shaped bacterium with flagella, designated M3-13T, was isolated from a saline soil in Zhoushan, China. According to phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, strain M3-13T was assigned to the genus Marinobacter with highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 97.7% to Marinobacter maroccanus LMG 30466T, followed by Marinobacter sediminum R65 T (97.5%) and M. salsuginis SD-14BT (97.2%). Digital DNA-DNA hybridization (DDH) and average nucleotide identity (ANI) were determined to evaluate the genomic relationship between strain M3-13T and M. maroccanus LMG 30466T. Digital DDH estimation (19.8%) as well as ANI (72.98%) proved the dissimilarity of strain M3-13T. Optimal growth of the strain M3-13T was at 28-30 °C and at pH 8.0-8.5, in the presence of 3-6% (w/v) NaCl. The major fatty acids detected in strain M3-13T were C16:1 ω7c/C16:1 ω6c, C16:0, C18:1ω7c/C18:1 ω6c and C12:03-OH, and the predominant respiratory quinone was ubiquinone-9. The major polar lipids included diphosphatidyglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified aminophosphoglycolipid and one unidentified phosphoglycolipid. The DNA G+C content was 56.6%. A phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain M3-13T belongs to the genus Marinobacter. Based on the polyphasic taxonomic characterization, strain M3-13T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Marinobacter, for which the name Marinobacter caseinlyticus sp. nov. is proposed (type strain M3-13T = MCCC 1K04560T = KCTC 72043T).

RESUMO

A novel Gram-stain negative, aerobic, non-motile, rod-shaped bacterium, designated as strain EB310T, was isolated from rhizosphere soil of mangrove plant Kandelia candel in Fugong village, Zhangzhou, China. Phylogenetic analysis based on 16S rRNA gene sequences revealed that strain EB310T belonged to the genus Erythrobacter, clustering with Erythrobacter pelagi JCM 17468T, Erythrobacter lutimaris KCTC 42109T and Erythrobacter marisflavi KCTC 62896T, and showed the highest 16S rRNA gene sequence similarity of 97.5% to Erythrobacter pelagi JCM 17468T. The genomic average nucleotide identity and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain EB310T and the reference strains were 71.0-75.5% and 19.8-20.0%, respectively. Growth ranges of the isolate occurred at 10-45 °C (optimum 28-30 °C), pH 5.5-9.5 (optimum pH 7.5) and 0-9.0% NaCl concentrations (optimum 2.0%, w/v). The strain did not produce bacteriochlorophyll a and flexirubin, but produced carotenoids. The strain contained Q-10 as the predominant ubiquinone and summed feature 3 (C16:1 ω7c/C16:1 ω6c) and summed feature 8 (C18:1 ω6c/C18:1 ω7c) as the major fatty acids. The major polar lipids were sphingoglycolipid, phosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, diphosphatidylglycerol and phosphatidylcholine. Differential phenotypic characteristics, together with chemotaxonomic, phylogenetic and genomic distinctiveness, indicated that strain EB310T is distinguishable from other members of the genus Erythrobacter. On the basis of the data exhibited, strain EB310T is considered to represent a novel species of the genus Erythrobacter, for which the name Erythrobacter mangrovi sp. nov., is proposed. The type strain is EB310T (= KCTC 72109T = MCCC 1K03690T). The genomic DNA G + C content is 62.9 mol%.

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-negative, strictly aerobic, motile by one polar flagellum, non-spore-forming, rod-shaped bacterium, designated as 190T, was isolated from seawater of the West Pacific Ocean and subjected to a polyphasic taxonomic investigation. Colonies were 1.0-2.0 mm in diameter, smooth, circular, convex and white after growth on marine agar at 30 °C for 24 h. Strain 190T was found to grow at 4-40 °C (optimum, 30 °C), at pH 5.5-10.5 (optimum, pH 6.5) and with 0.5-12.5 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum, 2.0 %). Chemotaxonomic analysis showed the sole respiratory quinone was ubiquinone 8 (Q-8), and the major fatty acids were summed feature 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or iso-C15 : 0 2-OH), C16 : 0 and summed feature 8 (C18 : 1ω6c and/or C18 : 1ω7c). The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine (PE), phosphatidylglycerol (PG), one unidentified aminolipid (AL1) and two unidentified glycolipids (GL1, GL2). The DNA G+C content of strain 190T was 48.7 mol% based on the genome sequence. The comparison of 16S rRNA gene sequence similarities showed that strain 190T was closely related to Alteromonas oceani S35T (99.6 % sequence similarity), A. lipolytica JW12T (98.2 %), A. aestuariivivens JDTF-113T (97.7 %) and A. mediterranea DET (97.5 %); it exhibited 97.0 % or less sequence similarity with the type strains of other species with validly published names. Phylogenetic trees reconstructed with the neighbour-joining, maximum-parsimony and maximum-likelihood methods based on 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain 190T constituted a separate branch with A. oceani, A. confluentis, A. aestuariivivens and A. lipolytica in a clade of the genus Alteromonas. OrthoANI values between strain 190T and A. oceani S35T and A. lipolytica JW12T were 93.5 and 77.9 %, respectively, and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization values were 53.8 and 21.2 %, respectively. Differential phenotypic properties, together with phylogenetic distinctiveness, demonstrated that strain 190T is clearly distinct from recognized species of the genus Alteromonas. On the basis of these features, we propose that strain 190T (=MCCC 1K03456T=KCTC 62227T) represents a novel species of the genus Alteromonas with the name Alteromonas alba sp. nov.

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-negative bacterium, designated NH169-3T, was isolated from a surface seawater sample of the South China Sea and subjected to a taxonomic polyphasic investigation. Strain NH169-3T was strictly aerobic, non-motile, non-spore-forming and rod-shaped. The colony was 1.0-2.0 mm in diameter after the growth on marine agar at 30 °C for 72 h. The centre of the colony was smooth, circular, convex and brown with a transparent periphery. Strain NH169-3T was able to grow at temperatures between 4-40 °C (optimum, 37 °C), pH 5.5-9.0 (pH 7.5) and with 0-12.5 % (w/v) NaCl (3.0 %). Chemotaxonomic analysis showed that the sole respiratory quinone of strain NH169-3T was ubiquinone 9; major fatty acids were C16 : 0 and C18 : 1ω9c, and major polar lipids were diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylglycerol and one unidentified glycolipid. The DNA G+C content was 52.7 mol%. The comparison of 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain NH169-3T was closely related to Marinobacter shengliensis SL013A34A2T with a similarity of 98.0 %. Three phylogenetic trees reconstructed with neighbour-joining, maximum-parsimony and maximum-likelihood methods using 16S rRNA gene sequences showed that strain NH169-3T was grouped into a separated branch with M. shengliensis SL013A34A2T in a clade of the genus Marinobacter and closely related to Marinobacter halophilus JCM 30472T, Marinobacter vinifirmus DSM 17747T and Marinobacter hydrocarbonoclasticus DSM 8798T. Analyses of both phenotypic and phylogenetic properties have suggested that strain NH169-3T was distinctive from species with validly published names in genus Marinobacter. Thus, strain NH169-3T (=MCCC 1K03455T=KCTC 62226T) is proposed as a novel species in genus Marinobacter with the name Marinobacter fuscus sp. nov.

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, non-motile and rod-shaped bacterium, designated B1T, was isolated from deep-sea sediment collected from the South Atlantic Ocean. Cells of strain B1T grew in medium containing 0.5-6.0 % (w/v) NaCl (optimum 1.0-2.0 %), at pH 5.5-7.5 (optimum pH 7.0) and at 15-37 °C (optimum 30 °C). Aesculin, starch and Tweens 20, 40 and 60 were hydrolysed. The strain was able to grow in medium containing a high concentration of Co2+ (10 mM). The 16S rRNA gene sequence of strain B1T shared high similarity with respect to Maribacter orientalis DSM 16471T (97.7 %), and exhibited less than 97.0 % sequence similarity with the type strains of other species with validly published names. Phylogenetic analyses revealed that strain B1T fell within the cluster comprising Maribacter species and formed an independent lineage. The average nucleotide identity and in silico DNA-DNA hybridization values between strain B1T and M. orientalis DSM 16471T were 72.0 % and 17.6 %, respectively. Strain B1T contained menaquinone 6 (MK-6) as the sole isoprenoid quinone and iso-C17 : 0 3-OH, iso-C15 : 0 and iso-C15 : 1 G as the predominant cellular fatty acids. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified aminolipid and two unidentified lipids. The DNA G+C content was 39.7 mol%. According to the phylogenetic, chemotaxonomic and phenotypic data, B1T represents a novel species of the genus Maribacter, for which the name Maribacter cobaltidurans sp. nov. is proposed. The type strain is B1T (=CGMCC 1.15508T=KCTC 52882T=MCCC 1K03318T).

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-negative, aerobic and slightly halophilic bacterium was isolated from the South China Sea, and was subjected to characterization using a polyphasic taxonomic approach. Cells of the isolate, designated NH83T, were non-motile and rod-shaped. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, strain NH83Twas closely related to members of the genera Aureisphaera (with sequence similarity of 92.9 %), Jejudonia (92.8 %), Marixanthomonas (92.6 %), Altuibacter (92.6 %), Ulvibacter (91.5-91.9 %), Gilvibacter (91.8 %) and Aequorivita (89.6-91.2 %), all of which belong to the family Flavobacteriaceae. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that it represented an independent lineage and its closest relatives belonged to the genus Marixanthomonas. The sole respiratory quinone was MK-6. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, two aminolipids, one aminophospholipid and one unidentified lipid. The principal fatty acids were branched fatty acids, including iso-C15 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 3-OH, iso-C16 : 0, iso-C15 : 1 G and summed feature 3 (iso-C15 : 0 2-OH and/or C16 : 1ω7c). The genomic DNA G+C content was 41.0 mol%. Strain NH83T was positive for hydrolysis of aesculin, gelatin and Tween 60. Phylogenetic distinctiveness and chemotaxonomic differences, together with differential phenotypic properties, revealed that strain NH83T could be differentiated from closely related genera. Therefore, it is proposed that strain NH83T represents a novel species in a new genus, for which the name Marinirhabdus gelatinilytica gen. nov., sp. nov. (type strain NH83T=CGMCC 1.15462T=DSM 101478T) is proposed.

RESUMO

A Gram-stain-negative, rod-shaped bacterium, designated Ar-125T, was isolated from Antarctic seawater. It produced carotenoid-like pigments and did not produce Bchl a. Ar-125T was positive for hydrolysis of DNA, aesculin, gelatin, starch, Tween 40 and Tween 60. The sole respiratory quinone was MK-6. The major polar lipids were phosphatidylethanolamine, one unidentified aminolipid, one unidentified glycolipid and two unidentified lipids. The principal fatty acids were branched-chain fatty acids, including iso-C15 : 0, iso-C15 : 1 G, summed feature 3 (iso-C15 : 0 2-OH and/or C16 : 1ω7c), iso-C16 : 0, iso-C17 : 0 3-OH, iso-C16 : 0 3-OH and iso-C15 : 0 3-OH, as well as C15 : 0. The genomic DNA G+C content was 31.8 mol%. On the basis of 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis, Ar-125T is closely related to the species of the genera Bizionia(with 16S rRNA gene pairwise sequence similarity of 93.7-96.5 %), Formosa(94.3-95.8 %), Gaetbulibacter(94.2-95.7 %), Geojedonia(95.5 %), Gelidibacter (93.3-95.4 %), Meridianimaribacter(95.3 %) and Psychroserpens (94.8-95.3 %), of the family Flavobacteriaceae. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that it represented an independent lineage and that the closest relatives were members of the genus Gelidibacter. Differential phenotypic properties and chemotaxonomic differences, together with phylogenetic distinctiveness, revealed that Ar-125T could be differentiated from members of closely related genera. Therefore, it is proposed that Ar-125T represents a novel species in a new genus, for which the name Aquaticitalea lipolytica gen. nov., sp. nov. (type strain Ar-125T =CGMCC 1.15295T =JCM 30876T) is proposed.
