RESUMO

Currently, immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have changed the treatment paradigm for many malignant tumors. As the most common digestive tract malignancy, colorectal cancer (CRC) shows a good response to ICIs only in a small subset of patients with MSI-H/dMMR CRC. In contrast, patients with MSS/pMMR CRC show minimal response to ICIs. The results of the REGONIVO study suggest that targeting the tumor microenvironment (TME) to improve immunotherapy outcomes in MSS/pMMR CRC patients is a feasible strategy. Therefore, this article focuses on exploring the feasibility of targeting the TME to enhance immunotherapy outcomes in CRC, collecting recent basic research on targeting the TME to enhance immunotherapy outcomes in CRC and analyzing ongoing clinical trials to provide a theoretical basis and future research directions for improving immunotherapy outcomes in MSS/pMMR CRC.

RESUMO

The incidence of premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) is increasing worldwide, particularly among younger women, posing a significant challenge to fertility. In addition to menopausal symptoms, POI leads to several complications that profoundly affect female reproductive function and overall health. Unfortunately, current clinical treatment strategies for this condition are limited and often yield unsatisfactory outcomes. These approaches typically involve hormone replacement therapy combined with psychological support. Recently, mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) therapies for POI have garnered considerable attention in global research. MSCs can restore ovarian reproductive and endocrine functions through diverse mechanisms, including controlling differentiation, promoting angiogenesis, regulating ovarian fibrosis, inhibiting apoptosis, enhancing autocrine and paracrine effects, suppressing inflammation, modulating the immune system, and genetic regulation. This editorial offers a succinct summary of the application of MSC therapy in the context of POI, providing evidence for groundbreaking medical approaches that have potential to enhance reproductive health and overall well-being for women.

RESUMO

Bushen Tiaoxue Granules (BTG) is an empirical Chinese herbal formula that has been used for the treatment of subfertility. The protective effect of BTG on controlled ovarian hyperstimulation (COH)-induced impaired endometrial receptivity has been reported in our previous study. This study aims to explore the mechanisms of BTG on ameliorating abnormal morphology of endometrium based on network pharmacology. Active compounds of BTG were identified via the traditional Chinese medicine systems pharmacology and UPLC-MS technology. The SwissTargetPrediction platform and HERB database were used to screen out the putative targets of BTG. Potential targets of endometrial dysfunction caused by COH were obtained from three GEO databases. Through the STRING database, the protein-protein interaction was carried out according to the cross-common targets of diseases and drugs. GO terms and KEGG pathways enrichment analyses were conducted via the Metascape database. AutoDock Vina was used for docking validation of the affinity between active compounds and potential targets. Finally, in vivo experiments were used to verify the potential mechanisms derived from network pharmacology study. A total of 141 effective ingredients were obtained from TCMSP and nine of which were verified in UPLC-MS. Six genes were selected through the intersection of 534 disease related genes and 165 drug potential targets. Enrichment analyses showed that BTG might reverse endometrial dysfunction by regulating adherens junction and arachidonic acid metabolism. Hematoxylin-eosin staining revealed that BTG ameliorated the loose and edematous status of endometrial epithelium caused by COH. The protein expression of FOXO1A, ß-Catenin and COX-2 was decreased in the COH group, and was up-regulated by BTG. BTG significantly alleviates the edema of endometrial epithelium caused by COH. The mechanisms may be related to adheren junctions and activation of arachidonic acid metabolism. The potential active compounds quercetin, taxifolin, kaempferol, eriodictyol, and isorhamnetin identified from the BTG exhibit marginal cytotoxicity. Both high and low concentrations of kaempferol, eriodictyol, and taxifolin are capable of effectively ameliorating impaired hESC cellular activity.

RESUMO

Cyclometalated iridium(III) complexes are of significant importance in the field of antitumor photodynamic therapy (PDT), whether they exist as single molecules or are incorporated into nanomaterials. Nevertheless, a comprehensive examination of the relationship between their molecular structure and PDT effectiveness remains awaited. The influencing factors of two-photon excited PDT can be anticipated to be further multiplied, particularly in relation to intricate nonlinear optical properties. At present, a comprehensive body of research on this topic is lacking, and few discernible patterns have been identified. In this study, through systematic structure regulation, the nitro-substituted styryl group and 1-phenylisoquinoline ligand containing YQ2 was found to be the most potent infrared two-photon excitable photosensitizer in a 4 × 3 combination library of cyclometalated Ir(III) complexes. YQ2 could enter cells via an energy-dependent and caveolae-mediated pathway, bind specifically to mitochondria, produce 1O2 in response to 808 nm LPL irradiation, activate caspases, and induce apoptosis. In vitro, YQ2 displayed a remarkable phototherapy index for both malignant melanoma (>885) and non-small-cell lung cancer (>1234) based on these functions and was minimally deleterious to human normal liver and kidney cells. In in vivo antitumor phototherapy, YQ2 inhibited tumor growth by an impressive 85% and could be eliminated from the bodies of mice with a half-life as short as 43 h. This study has the potential to contribute significantly to the development of phototherapeutic drugs that are extremely effective in treating large, profoundly located solid tumors as well as the understanding of the structure-activity relationship of Ir(III)-based PSs in PDT.

RESUMO

Background: The epidemiologic characteristics and attributable risk factors of ischemic stroke in China have changed over the past three decades. An up-to-date analysis on deaths, disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs), prevalence, incidence, and attributable risk factors of ischemic stroke for China is needed. This study aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of burden and attributable risk factors of ischemic stroke at national level in China by sex from 1990 to 2019. Methods: This is a secondary analysis of the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) study 2019. All data used in this study was derived from the 2019 GBD study. Deaths, DALYs, prevalence, incidence, and attributable risk factors of ischemic stroke in China by sex from 1990 to 2019 were analyzed. Results: From 1990 to 2019, the age-standardized deaths rate decreased by 3.3%, age-standardized DALYs rate decreased by 4%, age-standardized prevalence rate increased by 33.5%, and age-standardized incidence rate of ischemic stroke in China increased by 34.7%. In 2019, ambient particulate matter pollution became an important risk factor, whereas household air pollution from solid fuels was no longer a major risk factor for ischemic stroke in China. Burden of ischemic stroke was higher in China compared to other regions. Ambient particulate matter pollution among men, and diet high in sodium, smoking, household air pollution from solid fuels among women account for the increased deaths/DALYs due to ischemic stroke in China. Conclusion: Our study revealed that great changes have occurred in burden and attributable risk factors of ischemic stroke in China in the past three decades. Distinct sex-specific differences are observed in burden and attributable risk factors.

RESUMO

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: In the traditional Taiwanese culture of "postpartum confinement", the term "lochia discharge" is a synonym for assisting postpartum uterine involution. Postpartum women in Taiwan consult traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) pharmacies to obtain various TCM formulations that facilitate lochia discharge. AIM OF THE STUDY: As an ethnopharmacy study, we aimed to conduct field investigations to explore the herbal composition of TCM formulations for lochia discharge provided by TCM pharmacies in Taiwan and to identify the pharmaceutical implications of these TCM formulations. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Through stratified sampling, we collected 98 formulations for postpartum lochia discharge from TCM pharmacies, which used a total of 60 medicinal materials. RESULTS: The most common plant families of the medicinal materials found in Taiwanese lochia discharge formulations were Fabaceae and Lauraceae. Abiding by the TCM theory of nature and flavor, most drugs were warm in nature and sweet in flavor, and predominantly focused on the traditional functions of qi tonifying and blood activating. Correlation and network analyses of the medicinal components of lochia discharge formulations identified 11 core herbs, which, in the order of most to least frequently used, include Angelica sinensis, Ligusticum striatum, Glycyrrhiza uralensis, Zingiber officinale, Prunus persica, Eucommia ulmoides, Leonurus japonicus, Lycium chinense, Hedysarum polybotrys, Rehmannia glutinosa, and Paeonia lactiflora. These 11 herbs formed a total of 136 drug combinations in the 98 formulations, with 2-7 herbs in each combination. In addition, in the center of the network were A. sinensis and L. striatum, which jointly appeared in 92.8% of the formulations analyzed. CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first study to systematically review lochia discharge formulations in Taiwan. The results of this study could provide an important basis for subsequent research in the clinical efficacy of Taiwanese lochia discharge formulations and the pharmacological mechanisms of their herbal components.

RESUMO

Background: The increase in the number of thyroid cancer cases in recent years has increased not only the medical burden but also the potential for overtreatment. Therefore, it is crucial to distinguish papillary thyroid cancer from benign thyroid nodules before surgery when treating thyroid nodules. Methods: The patients were divided into two groups: 117 patients made up the validation cohort and 414 patients made up the primary cohort. As a result of the primary cohort, a preoperative prediction model was developed, which was then validated externally in the validation cohort. Preoperative thyrotropin (thyroid stimulating hormone, TSH), systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), lymphocyte-to-monocyte ratio (LMR), and ultrasonographic features were recorded in both groups. Results: As predictors for the model, the preoperative blood levels of TSH, SII, LMR, echogenicity, margin, calcification, composition, taller-than-wide, and age were chosen. This was the regression equation: Y = -0.070 × (age) + 1.511 × (echogenicity) + 1.664 × (margin) + 1.003 × (calcification) + 0.939 × (composition) + 2.964 × (tall than wide) + 0.305 × (TSH) + 0.558 × (SII) - 1.271 × (LMR) + 0.327. Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) was predicted positively with values of Y ≥0.808. The prediction model's accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity were 88.2%, 85.1%, and 94.9%, respectively. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve was 0.961. The model's external validation produced satisfactory results with accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity of 85.5%, 90.9%, and 75.5%, respectively. Conclusions: Using the preoperative TSH, SII, LMR, and ultrasonographic characteristics, a straightforward and accurate preoperative prediction model for PTC has been developed and validated. The preoperative assessment of PTC in clinical application is enhanced by this approach.

RESUMO

Objective: To establish a new mouse model of haemorrhagic transformation associated with delayed tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) treatment to provide a novel tool to study therapeutic strategies for haemorrhagic transformation. Methods: Male C57BL/6 mice were subjected to carotid artery thrombosis stimulated with ferric chloride. The thrombus was then mechanically detached to induce migration toward the intracranial circulation. To induce haemorrhagic transformation, mice were intravenously injected with 10 mg/kg tPA 4.5 h after the onset of ischaemia and were sacrificed 24 h after tPA treatment. Results: In this new model, administration of tPA 4.5 h after stroke exacerbated the risk of intracerebral haemorrhage. Thrombolysis with tPA also exacerbated cerebral infarction, brain oedema, blood-brain barrier breakdown, and neurological deficits. However, cerebral blood flow was not significantly affected. Conclusion: The present model is reproducible, easy to perform, and mimics the clinical situation of haemorrhagic transformation after tPA treatment in humans. This modified model can be used as a new tool to test experimental drugs for haemorrhagic transformation associated with delayed tPA administration after an ischaemic stroke.

RESUMO

Objective: Preoperative levels of cognition-related biomarkers and intraoperative cerebral ischemia and hypoxia might cause postoperative neurocognitive dysfunction (PND). The aim of this study was to evaluate the predictive ability of preoperative plasma biomarkers along with cerebral oxygen saturation (SctO2) for the incidence of PND in elderly patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). Methods: A total of 210 patients aged 65-80 years undergoing spinal surgery were randomly assigned to three groups (n = 70 each): propofol, sevoflurane, and propofol/sevoflurane as anesthesia maintenance protocols. Propofol was administrated target-controlled infusion of 4 µg/ml (group P), the minimum alveolar concentration (MAC) of inhalation anesthetic sevoflurane was 1.3 (group S), and propofol was injected with a target-controlled plasma concentration of 1.2 µg/ml, accompanied by sevoflurane inhalation 0.7 MAC (group PS). Cognitive function was evaluated 1 day preoperatively and on the 7th day postoperatively. Preoperative levels of amyloidß-40 (Aß-40), Aß-42, total tau protein (T-tau), phosphorylated tau protein (P-tau), and triggering receptors on myeloid cells-2 (TREM2) were investigated. SctO2 was monitored intraoperatively. Results: Aß-42 had the strongest significant correlation with preoperative MoCA score. The value of Aß-42 associated with a high risk of PND was 28.34 pg/ml, and the area under the curve (AUC) was predicted to be 0.711. When the preoperative level of Aß-42 was 28.34 pg/ml, SctO2max% was 9.92%. The AUC was predicted to be 0.872, and the sensitivity and specificity were 0.833 and 0.841, respectively. Conclusion: Under the conditions of preoperative Aß-42 less than 28.34 pg/ml, the intraoperative fluctuation range of cerebral oxygen saturation should be maintained within 9.92% to reduce the occurrence of PND in geriatric patients with MCI.

RESUMO

Background: Flexible ureteroscopy (FURS) and holmium laser lithotripsy is considered one of the most minimally invasive and safe surgical methods for the treatment of renal calculi. Renal pseudoaneurysm is a rare complication after FURS holmium laser lithotripsy. We report a case of renal pseudoaneurysm after FURS and holmium laser lithotripsy and review the relevant literature to analyze the possible etiology and summarize the treatment. Case presentation: A 29-year-old male with a 2-year history of diabetes was admitted to the hospital because of right back pain for 5 days. A doppler ultrasound demonstrated bilateral renal calculi with bilateral mild hydronephrosis. The patient underwent one-stage right FURS and holmium laser lithotripsy and bilateral ureteral stent implantation. The urine was clear on the second day after the operation, and he was discharged from the hospital. Due to severe gross hematuria, he had to be hospitalized 28 days after the operation. A CT scan showed multiple blood clots in the right renal pelvis and bladder. An emergency blood transfusion and removal of the bladder blood clots and bilateral double J tubes were performed. His urine was clear for one week, and he was discharged from the hospital. He was hospitalized again 47 days after the operation because of fever and hematuria. A CT scan demonstrated blood clots in the bladder and right renal pelvis. Angiography showed a pseudoaneurysm in a small branch of the right renal artery, and hematuria stopped after selective renal artery embolization with microcoils. Conclusion: FURS and holmium laser lithotripsy is safe, but we should be aware of the possibility of renal artery pseudoaneurysms (RAP). Through careful operation during the surgery, avoiding kidney injury, reducing intrarenal pressure and controlling the time of operation may prevent the occurrence of this complication. Vascular embolization is the first choice for the treatment of pseudoaneurysms.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Tissue-type plasminogen activator (tPA) remains the sole FDA approved thrombolytic drug for ischemic stroke. But delayed thrombolytic therapy with tPA may increase the risk of hemorrhagic transformation. Many Chinese herbal medicines have been used as tPA helpers to enhance the capacity of tPA and minimize the risk of hemorrhagic transformation. The efficacy of Chinese herbal medicines on tPA thrombolysis is not systematically analyzed. METHODS: We searched the following three databases up to January 2022: Web of Science, PubMed, and Scopus. Studies that reported the efficacy and safety of Chinese herbal medicines on tPA thrombolysis in experimental stroke were included. The efficacy outcomes were neurological score and infarct volume, the safety outcomes were cerebral hemorrhage and blood brain barrier (BBB) damage. We used the checklist of CAMARADES to assess the quality of included studies. Standardized mean difference (SMD) with 95% confidence intervals were used to assess all the outcomes. Subgroup analyses were performed to explore the sources of heterogeneity. Trim and fill method and Egger's test were used to assess the potential publication bias. Sensitivity analyses were used to identify the stability of the results. RESULTS: A total of nine studies including 11 Chinese herbal medicines fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were subsequently analyzed. The pooled data demonstrated that Chinese herbal medicines improved neurological score (2.23 SMD, 1.42-3.04), infarct volume (1.08 SMD, 0.62-1.54), attenuated cerebral hemorrhage (1.87 SMD, 1.34-2.4), and BBB dysfunction (1.9 SMD, 1.35-2.45) following tPA thrombolysis in experimental stroke. Subgroup analysis indicated that the route of drug delivery, dosage of tPA, and stroke model used may be factors inducing heterogeneity and influencing the efficacy. CONCLUSION: Treatment with Chinese herbal medicines significantly improved neurological score and infarct volume, reduced cerebral hemorrhage and BBB damage after tPA thrombolysis. This study supports Chinese herbal medicine as an adjuvant therapy in reducing the side effects of tPA thrombolysis after acute ischemic stroke. The results should be interpreted with more caution since this article was based on animal studies.

RESUMO

The CONSTANS-LIKE1 (COL1) gene plays an important role in the regulation of photoperiodic flowering in plants. In this study, two COL1 homolog genes, MiCOL1A and MiCOL1B, were isolated from mango (Mangifera indica L.). The open reading frames of MiCOL1A and MiCOL1B are 852 and 822 bp in length and encode 284 and 274 amino acids, respectively. The MiCOL1A and MiCOL1B proteins contain only one CCT domain and belong to the CO/COL group IV protein family. MiCOL1A and MiCOL1B were expressed both in vegetative and reproductive organs but with expression level differences. MiCOL1A was highly expressed in juvenile and adult leaves, but MiCOL1B was highly expressed in flowers. Seasonal expression analysis showed that MiCOL1A and MiCOL1B have similar expression patterns and higher expression levels during flower induction and flower organ differentiation periods. However, MiCOL1A and MiCOL1B exhibited unstable patterns in circadian expression analysis. MiCOL1A and MiCOL1B were localized in the nucleus and had transcriptional activation activity in yeast. Overexpression of MiCOL1A and MiCOL1B resulted in significantly delayed flowering time in Arabidopsis. Furthermore, we also found that overexpression of MiCOL1A and MiCOL1B enhanced drought tolerance in transgenic Arabidopsis. The results demonstrated that MiCOL1A and MiCOL1B are not only involved in flowering regulation but also play a role in the stress response of plants.

RESUMO

Two collagens were made from giant salamander (Andrias davidianus) skin by using acid and pepsin extraction methods. The yields of acid-soluble and pepsin-soluble collagens were 26.9 and 58.7%, respectively. The results of spectrum, electrophoresis and amino acid analysis showed that they were type 1 collagen with two α and one ß peptides and high imino acid content. They had low solubility at a pH above 6 or salt concentration over 5%. The pepsin-soluble collagen had a better emulsion activity index. The odorants in raw skin and collagens were identified and evaluated using gas-chromatography mass-spectrometer and olfactometry methods and sensory analysis. The fishy and fatty off-odors in skin were not perceivable in the collagens. Sour, ammonia-like, and acrid off-odors were found in the collagens due to acid and enzymatic hydrolysis and protein degradation. The off-odor intensity of pepsin-soluble collagen was low. It could be considered a good and safe collagen material.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: In this case, platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) was added to guided tissue regeneration as a biomaterial in proper order for immediate planting in aesthetic area with periapical infection. CASE SUMMARY: With the history of endodontic failure in maxillary central incisor, a 34-year-old female patient required the extraction of maxillary anterior residual root and immediate implantation. Cone beam computed tomography and clinical observation were used to assess the regeneration of soft and bone tissue. Before operation, cone beam computed tomography showed the anterior residual root had serious periapical periodontitis with insufficient labial bone in the aesthetic zone. The patient underwent immediate implant placement and reconstruction of the bone substitution by modified guided bone regeneration. The barrier was a three-layer structure of PRF-collagen membrane-PRF that covered the mixture of PRF and Bio-Oss to promote both osteogenesis and soft tissue healing. At 6 mo postoperatively, the definitive crown was placed after accomplished finial impression. One-year follow-up showed a satisfactory aesthetic effect with no obvious absorption of the labial bone and soft tissue. CONCLUSION: The use of PRF in combination with guided bone regeneration can serve as a reliable and simple adjuvant for immediate implanting in infected socket and result in a stable osteogenic effect with good aesthetic outcome.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: Delirium is the most common postoperative neurological complication and some evidence suggests that dexmedetomidine is associated with a decreased incidence of delirium. This study is designed to assess the effect of dexmedetomidine on postoperative delirium (POD) in elderly patients with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). METHODS: Sixty geriatric patients with MCI were enrolled and ramdomly divided into two groups by a computer-generated randomisation sequence: dexmedetomidine group (D group) and normal saline group (C group). Patients in D group received a loading dose of 0.5 µg/kg dexmedetomidine over 10 minutes before anesthesia induction, followed by a continuous infusion of 0.4 µg·kg-1·h-1 until 30 minutes before the end of surgery; equal volume of normal saline was given in C group. Blood samples were extracted to detect the concentration of cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-10 (IL-10), heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) before anesthesia induction (T1), before suture (T2), and 30 minutes after surgery (T3). Postoperative recovery times were recorded. Delirium was assessed with the 3-Minute Diagnostic Interview for confusion assessment method during the first 7 days postoperatively. RESULTS: POD occurred in 10 (33.3%) of 30 patients in C group, and in 3 (10%) of 30 patients given dexmedetomidine (odds ratio [OR] 0.222, 95% CI 0.054-0.914; P = 0.028). The serum concentrations of TNF-α, MMP-9, and GFAP were significantly increased and IL-10 was decreased in the C group than in the D group at T2 and T3. No differences were observed between groups in the level of HO-1. Analysis using random-effect multivariable logistic regression indicated that POD was associated with GFAP (odds ratio [OR] 16.691, 95% CI 2.288-121.746; P = 0.005). The positive predictive ability of the multivariate logistic regression model tested by ROC analysis showed an area under the curve of 0.713 (95% CI, 0.584-0.842). CONCLUSIONS: Dexmedetomidine can alleviate POD in elderly patients with MCI and may be related to reduce the neuroinflammation by lowering the permeability of blood-brain barrier.

RESUMO

Unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) multispectral remote sensing can be used to monitor multiple water quality parameters, such as suspended solids, turbidity, total phosphorus, and chlorophyll. Establishing a stable and accurate water quality parameter inversion model is a prerequisite for this work. The matching pixel-by-pixel (MPP) algorithm is an inversion algorithm for high resolution features of UAV images; however, it is associated with problems of excessive computation and over-fitting. To overcome these problems, the optimize-MPP (OPT-MPP) algorithm is proposed. In this study, Qingshan Lake in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province, was used as the research area. Forty-five samples were collected to construct the OPT-MPP algorithm inversion model for two water quality parameters:the suspended sediments concentration (SS) and turbidity (TU). The results showed that the optimal suspended sediment concentration inversion model had a determination coefficient (R2) of 0.7870 and a comprehensive error of 0.1308. The optimal turbidity inversion model had a R2 of 0.8043 and a comprehensive error of 0.1503. Hence, the inversion of the spatial distribution information for water quality parameters in each experimental area of QingShan Lake was realized by using the optimal models of the two established parameters.

RESUMO

Vertical bone insufficiency in the maxillary posterior teeth is a common clinical situation. At present, the bone insufficiency in the maxillary posterior teeth is mainly overcome by bone grafting through maxillary sinus floor elevation. Compared with traditional axial implantation, tilted implantation can better avoid bone grafting, reduce complications, shorten the treatment cycle, reduce the treatment cost for patients, and gradually be promoted in clinical settings. This article reviews the concept, biomechanics, clinical evaluation, and digital trend of tilted implants of maxillary posterior teeth.

RESUMO

PURPOSE: This study aims to investigate the effect of transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) on postoperative delirium (POD) in elderly patients with silent lacunar infarct and preliminarily to determine the relationship among TEAS, blood-brain barrier (BBB), neuroinflammation, and POD. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Sixty-four-old patients with silent lacunar infarct were randomly divided into two groups: group TEAS and control group (group C). Patients in the group TEAS received TEAS (disperse-dense waves; frequency, 2/100 Hz) on acupoints Hegu and Neiguan of both sides starting from 30 minutes before induction of anesthesia until the end of surgery, and the intensity was the maximum current that could be tolerated. In group C, electrodes were placed on the same acupoints before anesthesia induction, but no current was given. At 0 minute before the treatment of TEAS, 30 minutes after skin incision, and after completion of surgery (T1-3), blood samples were extracted to detect the concentration of serum tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, interleukin-6 (IL-6), matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9), and S100ß. We assessed patients for delirium and coma twice daily in the first 3 postoperative days using the Confusion Assessment Method for the intensive care unit and the Richmond Agitation-Sedation Scale. RESULTS: This study preliminarily suggests that TEAS can reduce the development of POD in elderly patients with silent lacunar infarction (6.3% vs 25.0%; P=0.039). Compared with the baseline value at T1, the serum concentrations of IL-6, TNF-α, MMP-9, and S100ß were significantly increased at T2-3 in both the groups (P<0.05). Compared with group TEAS, serum levels of TNF-α and IL-6 were higher at T2-3 and serum levels of MMP-9 and S100ß were higher at T3 in group C (P<0.05). The intraoperative anesthetic consumptions were less in group TEAS than group C. CONCLUSION: TEAS can alleviate POD in older patients with silent lacunar infarction and may be related to reduce the neuroinflammation by lowering the permeability of BBB.

RESUMO

Endometrial receptivity refers to the ability of endometrium to accept and accommodate endometrial implantation in the process of embryo implantation in implantation window period. It is an important factor affecting the rate of blastocyst implantation in assisted reproduction. It is worth mentioning that ovulation-promoting drugs in current assisted reproduction technology could reduce endometrial receptivity and inhibit blastocyst implantation, greatly affecting the success rate of assisted reproduction. By searching Chinese Scientific Citation Database, it was found that 121 studies from 2006 to 2017 showed that Chinese Bushen Huoxue prescriptions could significantly improve the development of pinopodes in the implantation window, promote the expression of endometrial receptors ER, PR, integrinß3, LIF, LPA3 and other molecules, and thus enhancing endometrial receptivity and improving embryo implantation. In the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, kidney deficiency is an important factor causing infertility. Chinese Bushen Huoxue prescriptions could nourish the kidney-essence, and promote blood circulation, playing an important role in treating infertility with combined application of western medicine and traditional Chinese medicine. These studies suggest that Chinese Bushen Huoxue prescriptions could improve endometrial receptivity, and their mechanisms are worth further investigation. This article has summarized the research progress of Chinese Bushen Huoxue prescriptions in the field of assisted reproduction, summarized the deficiency of current researches, and preliminarily discussed the potential application prospect of Chinese Bushen Huoxue prescriptions in the treatment of infertility.
