RESUMO

Objectives: The objectives of this study were to assess the changes in the left myocardial function after chemotherapy for childhood lymphoma and observe the predictive or monitor value for cancer treatment-related cardiac dysfunction (CTRCD) by speckle-tracking echocardiography. Methods: A total of 23 children with histopathological diagnoses of lymphoma were included, with age-matched normal controls. Comparative analysis of clinical serological tests and left heart strain parameters in children with lymphoma, including left ventricular global longitudinal strain (LVGLS); global myocardial work (GMW) indices, which include global work index (GWI), global constructive work (GCW), global wasted work, and global work efficiency; and the LS of subendocardial, middle, and subepicardial layer myocardium during left ventricular systole were measured: left atrial strain of reservoir phase (LASr), left atrial strain of conduit phase (LAScd), and left atrial strain of contraction phase (LASct). Results: One-way ANOVA showed that GLS, GWI, GCW, LASr, and LAScd were closely associated with CTRCD and multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that GLS was the most sensitive predictor for detecting patients at lofty risk of anthracycline-related cardiotoxicity. Both before and after chemotherapy, GLS in the left ventricle showed a pattern of basal segment < middle segment < apical segment and subepicardial < middle < subendocardial layer (p < 0.05), and the degree of decrease also showed a regular pattern of epicardial layer < middle layer < subendocardial layer while the difference was not significant (p > 0.05). After chemotherapy, maximum flow rate in early mitral relaxation/left atrial systolic maximum flow rate (E/A) and left atrial volume index of each group were in the normal range, and the values of LASr, LAScd, and LASct slightly increased in the second cycle and decreased significantly in the fourth cycle after chemotherapy, reaching the lowest level; LASr and LAScd were positively correlated with GLS. Conclusion: LVGLS is a more sensitive and earlier indicator to predict CTRCD compared with conventional echocardiography-related parameters and serological markers, and GLS of each myocardial layer showed a certain regularity. Left atrial strain can be used for early monitoring of cardiotoxicity in children with lymphoma after chemotherapy.

RESUMO

Although it has been long recognized that leader-member exchange social comparison (LMXSC) has critical implications for employee productivity, little attention has been given to systematically exploring the effects of LMXSC on employee performance in a specific cultural context. Integrating social exchange theory with social comparison theory, we examine a dual process model to explain how and when LMXSC affects employee performance outcomes in the Chinese context. Results based on multiphase, multisource data from China revealed that the mediating roles of employees' perceived obligation toward the leader and self-esteem are examined simultaneously in the relationship between LMXSC and job performance and organizational citizenship behavior (OCB). Additionally, guanxi strengthens the connection between LMXSC and perceived obligation, while Zhongyong thinking erodes the connection between LMXSC and self-esteem. Taken together, these findings enhance our understanding of LMXSC in China.

RESUMO

OBJECTIVES: To explore the clinical application of shear wave elastography (SWE) in evaluating the degree of liver fibrosis in children. METHODS: To explore the value of SWE in assessing liver fibrosis in children, the correlation between elastography values and the METAVIR grade of liver fibrosis in children with biliary system or liver diseases was studied. Children with significant liver enlargement were enrolled, and the fibrosis grade was analyzed to explore the value of SWE in assessing the degree of liver fibrosis in the presence of significant liver enlargement. RESULTS: A total of 160 children with bile system or liver diseases were recruited. The areas under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUROCs) for liver biopsy from stage F1 to F4 were 0.990, 0.923, 0.819, and 0.884. According to the degree of liver fibrosis at liver biopsy, there was a high correlation between the SWE value and the degree of liver fibrosis (correlation coefficient 0.74). There was no significant correlation between the Young's modulus value of the liver and the degree of liver fibrosis (correlation coefficient 0.16). CONCLUSIONS: Supersonic SWE can generally accurately evaluate the degree of liver fibrosis in children with liver disease. However, When the liver is significantly enlarged, SWE can only evaluate liver stiffness based on Young's modulus values, and the degree of liver fibrosis must still be determined by pathologic biopsy.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The miserable work conditions faced by many nurses around the world make them particularly prone to work-family conflict. PURPOSE: This study was designed to explain from a resource perspective how and when nurses experiencing work-family conflict are more likely to exhibit decreased levels of organizational identification and professional identification. METHODS: A time-separation research design was used, and data were collected from 322 nurses in five hospitals in China. All of the hypotheses were tested using conduct structural equation modeling. RESULTS: The results showed that work-family conflict had negative effects on organizational identification and professional identification via emotional exhaustion. In addition, job meaningfulness may have a buffering effect on the negative impact of work-family conflict on emotional exhaustion, organizational identification, and professional identification. CONCLUSIONS/IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE: The results advance knowledge on how and when work-family conflict damages organizational identification and professional identification. Providing family support, relieving emotional exhaustion, and enhancing job meaningfulness are necessary to support the organizational and professional identification of nurses.

RESUMO

Objective: The aim of this study was to explore the hemodynamic changes of hepatic artery and portal vein detected by Doppler ultrasound (DU) in infants who underwent living donor liver transplantation (LDLT). Methods: The data of 41 infant patients (22 Males, 19 Females, median age of 5 months) were collected in the Children's Hospital affiliated to the Chongqing Medical University from May 2018 to December 2019. The patients underwent left lateral segment LDLT (LLS -LDLT) because of biliary atresia (BA). Hemodynamic parameters, including the peak systolic velocity (PSV), resistivity index (RI) of the hepatic artery (HA), portal vein velocity (PVV), and portal vein flow (PVF) were recorded from Doppler ultrasound on the day before the operation, and on the 1st, the 7th, the 14th and the 30th day after LDLT procedures. The changes of PSVHA, RIHA, PVV and PVF before and on the 1st day after transplantation were analyzed by paired t-test. The comparison of the data between different postoperative time points were assessed by ANOVA. Results: Compared with the parameters measured before LDLT, PSVHA, and RIHA decreased, and PVV and PVF increased significantly (p < 0.001) on the 1st day after LLS-LDLT. As for PSV, there was no significant difference between the 7th day and the 1st day after transplantation (POD7 VS POD1, p = 0.167) while there was a substantial difference between the 14th, 30th and 1st day after LT (POD14 vs. POD1, p = 0.003) (POD30 vs. POD1, p < 0.001). And there was a significant difference between the 14th, 30th, and 7th days after LT (POD14 vs. POD7, p = 0.014) (POD30 vs. POD7, p < 0.001). There was no significant difference between 30th and 14th after transplantation (POD30 vs. POD14, p = 0.092). As for RIHA and PVV, the decrease was slow within the first month after the operation, and there was no significant difference at different times. Conclusion: We have identified major hepatic flow changes that occurred in 41 infants who underwent LLS -LDLT due to BA. The data could be used for future studies of LDLT in infants including hemodynamic modeling, liver regeneration and clinical management.

RESUMO

In order to discuss the transoral vestibular approach endoscopy through oral vestibular approach in TC and the efficacy of 25(OH)D classification, a total of 110 TC patients from January 2020 to June 2021 are selected. The endoscopic group and the control group are respectively established according to different surgical approaches, with 55 cases in each group. The control group received conventional TC resection, while the endoscopic group received endoscopic assisted TC resection through oral vestibular approach. The differences of intraoperative and postoperative indicators, clinical efficacy, incidence of adverse complications, VAS score, and total satisfaction are observed. TC resection assisted by endoscopy through oral vestibular approach can effectively improve all intraoperative indicators and reduce postoperative pain and has high safety in clinical application. In addition, this study conducted in-depth analysis and classification of serum 25(OH)D index level in postoperative TC patients, indicating that the serum 25(OH)D index level is closely related to prognosis, providing a basis for follow-up clinical monitoring of TC patients' signs and optimization of diagnosis and treatment plans.

RESUMO

The COVID-19 pandemic has unhinged the lives of people across the globe. In particular, more than 30 million Chinese college students are home-schooling, yet there is little understanding of how academic workload, separation from school, and fears of contagion lead to a decrease in their health. This study examined the relationships between Chinese college students' three critical stressors and two types of health in the COVID-19 pandemic context. We used a three-wave lagged design with a one-week interval. All the constructs were assessed by self-report in anonymous surveys during the COVID-19 pandemic. College students were asked to report their demographic information, academic workload, separation from school, fears of contagion, perceived stress, and health. The results of this study showed that academic workload, separation from school, and fears of contagion had negative effects on college students' health via perceived stress. In the COVID-19 crisis, multiple prevention and control measures focusing on college students may lead them to have different degrees of stress and health problems. Our results enrich the literature on stress and health and offer novel practical implications for all circles of the society to ensure students' health under the context of the COVID-19 epidemic.

RESUMO

A novel dual near-infrared fluorescence-based lateral flow immunosensor was developed to determine zearalenone and deoxynivalenol in maize. Two near-infrared dyes with distinct fluorescence characteristics were utilized to separately label the anti-zearalenone and anti-deoxynivalenol antibodies as detection reagents. The capture antigens zearalenone-BSA and deoxynivalenol-BSA were mixed and immobilized on the same test line of nitrocellulose membrane. This assay format facilitates simultaneous detection of the two mycotoxins on a single test line. After optimizing experimental parameters, the limits of detection for zearalenone and deoxynivalenol were as low as 0.55 µg/kg and 3.8 µg/kg in maize, respectively. The spiking experiment yielded recovery ratios ranging from 81.7% to 107.3% with coefficients of variation less than 14% demonstrating high assay accuracy and precision. Moreover, the actual sample analysis produced consistent results between this method and instrumental method. Therefore, the developed immunosensor can serve as an accurate and efficient approach for monitoring mycotoxins in agricultural products.

RESUMO

A duplex surface enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)-based lateral flow immunosensor was established for the simultaneous detection of two common antibiotic residues including tetracycline and penicillin in milk. The newly synthesized Au@Ag nanoparticles were labeled with different Raman molecules including 5,5-dithiobis-2-nitrobenzoic acid (DTNB) or 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (MBA), followed by the conjugation of anti-tetracycline monoclonal antibody or anti-penicillin receptor, forming two kinds of SERS nanoprobes. The two nanoprobes can recognize tetracycline-BSA and ampicillin-BSA, respectively, which facilitates the simultaneous detection of the two types of antibiotics on a single test line. After optimization, detection limits of tetracycline and penicillin as low as 0.015 ng/mL and 0.010 ng/mL, respectively, were achieved. These values were far below those of most of other documented bio-analytical approaches. Moreover, the spiking test demonstrates an excellent assay accuracy with recoveries of 88.8% to 111.3%, and satisfactory assay precision with relative standard deviation below 16%. Consequently, the results demonstrate that the SERS-based lateral flow immunosensor developed in this study has the advantages of excellent assay sensitivity and remarkable multiplexing capability, thus it will have great application potential in food safety monitoring.

RESUMO

Based on the conservation of resource theory, we proposed a two-path model to examine the double-edged sword effects of career calling on occupational embeddedness via work-family conflict (WFC) and career adaptability. The proposed theoretical model and hypotheses were tested by structural equation modeling technology with a sample of nurses from five hospitals in China (total N = 368). Career calling has a double-edged sword effect on occupational embeddedness via WFC and career adaptability. Career calling has positive effects on WFC and career adaptability. WFC and career adaptability, in turn, negatively and positively influence occupational embeddedness, respectively. In addition to the well-established positive effects, career calling may also have adverse effects on occupational outcomes. Given the worldwide shortage of nursing staff, how career calling affects nurses' occupational embeddedness needs to be more understood. This study highlights the importance of career calling and occupational embeddedness. Nurse managers need to improve the level of nurses' career adaptability and reduce their level of WFC and hence increase their occupational embeddedness.

RESUMO

A high-affinity monoclonal antibody (mAb) has been prepared and separately a gold nanoparticle (AuNP)-based and a near-infrared (NIR) fluorescence-based lateral flow immunoassay (LFA) developed for determination of 5-hydroxyflunixin residue in raw milk. The AuNP and IRDye® 800CW were used to label anti-5-hydroxyflunixin mAb to form the AuNP-mAb and NIR dye-mAb conjugates, respectively. Quantitative determination of 5-hydroxyflunixin was achieved by imaging the optical or fluorescence intensity of the AuNP-mAb and NIR dye-mAb captured on the test line. As a result, the detection limits of the AuNP-based LFA and NIR dye-based LFA were 0.82 and 0.073 ng/mL in raw milk, respectively. The considerable improvement on assay sensitivity of the NIR-based LFA can be attributed to the lower background and less antibody consumption per test than that of the AuNP-based LFA. The spiking experiment by the NIR-based LFA yielded 85.7-112.6% recovery with a relative standard deviation below 14%, indicating that it has satisfactory assay accuracy and precision. Furthermore, the analytical results of actual samples by the NIR dye-based LFA were consistent with that by instrumental analysis. Therefore, these results demonstrated that the NIR dye is an ideal alternative label to the conventional AuNP for the development of LFA for veterinary drugs in animal-origin food. RESUMO

Although researchers have argued that long work hours have been shown to threaten individual health, lead to work-family conflict, and reduce job performance, the effect of overtime work on social-related outcomes has received little attention. Based on the framework of relative deprivation, we attempt to address this important issue by exploring whether, why, and when individuals' overtime work influences their social attitudes. By using the data of 400 Chinese employees from the China Labor-Force Dynamics Survey (CLD), we found that overtime work was associated with a low level of subjective social status and social inclusion. In addition, we found that the time type of overtime work (work overtime on weekdays or on weekends and holidays) has a moderating effect on the relationship between overtime work and social inclusion. That is, employees who work overtime on weekdays are unlikely to have a sense of social inclusion. Furthermore, the negative relationship between overtime work and subjective social status was stronger at a low level of fairness rather than a high level of fairness. In contrast, the negative relationship between overtime work and social inclusion was stronger at a high level of fairness rather than a low level of fairness. These findings highlight the critical role of overtime work in social life and also provide novel insights into social intervention aimed at the happiness and harmony of a society.

RESUMO

A multiplex surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS)-based lateral flow immunosensor was developed to determine six major mycotoxins in maize. Two characteristic Raman reporter molecules-5,5-dithiobis-2-nitrobenzoic acid (DTNB) and 4-mercaptobenzoic acid (MBA)-were used to label the synthesized Au@Ag core-shell nanoparticles for the preparation of SERS nanoprobes as detection reagents. Six corresponding hapten-protein conjugates were prepared and dispensed on three test lines of nitrocellulose membrane with two conjugates on each line as capture antigens. This design facilitates the simultaneous detection of the six mycotoxins in a single test. After optimizing the experimental parameters of immunosensor, the limits of detection were as low as 0.96 pg/mL for aflatoxin B1, 6.2 pg/mL for zearalenone, 0.26 ng/mL for fumonisin B1, 0.11 ng/mL for deoxynivalenol, 15.7 pg/mL for ochratoxin A, and 8.6 pg/mL for T-2 toxin, respectively. The spiking experiment showed high accuracy with recovery of 78.9-106.2 % and satisfactory assay precision with the coefficient of variations below 16 %. Moreover, this assay can be completed in less than 20 min, and its detection results were consistent with that of liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry. Therefore, the developed SERS-based lateral flow immunosensor is a promising approach for mycotoxin detection in the field.

RESUMO

As a non-invasive therapeutic, radiotherapy (RT) has been extensively used for solid tumor treatment. However, intratumoral hypoxia leads to severe RT resistance or failure. Moreover, damage from RT to normal tissues limits the application of high doses of radiation to eliminate cancer cells. Therefore, simultaneously improving the curative efficacy while minimizing the side effects of RT is in pressing need. Hence, the purpose of this study is to use oxygen-based microbubbles (O2 @MBs) combined with ultrasound (US) targeting microbubble destruction (UTMD) technology to overcome hypoxia prior to RT, evaluate the effects of O2 @MBs on contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) imaging enhancement, investigate the optimum delivery route of O2 @MBs, and evaluate the therapeutic efficacy. In this study, O2 @MBs were injected intravenously or locally and the distribution of O2 @MBs in tumors or regions surrounding the tumors are compared by US imaging. The hypoxic status of tumors and their sensitivity to RT were investigated. Our findings suggest that O2 @MBs combined with UTMD can significantly enhance the effects of RT. In addition, the in vivo biosafety assay demonstrates good biocompatibility, indicating great potential for clinical translation.

RESUMO

Based on the specific cultural context to add greater theoretical precision to emotional labor, we developed the Chinese version scale of emotional labor. For a comprehensive construct development and validation of the new scale, we carried out five studies. First, we used grounded theory methodologies, performed analysis of data from field observations of 15 frontline employees through insider's angle (Study 1) and in-depth interviews with 35 employees (Study 2), and preliminarily glimpsed the main content of emotional labor in China. Second, combined with existing literature and open-ended questionnaires with 110 employees (Study 3), we identified four dimensions labeled as surface acting, deep acting, expression of naturally felt emotions and emotion termination, and established the initial items. Third, Study 4 with 166 service workers from China was performed to demonstrate the validity, reliability, and acceptable psychometric properties of the scale and thus formed the formal scale. Finally, multi-wave data with 403 Chinese samples (Study 5) were collected for validating the formal scale. Future researchers can employ this validated scale to investigate emotional labor in Chinese service settings. We expect the emotional labor phenomena in the Chinese context can add valuable and novel insight into the stock of emotional labor knowledge in numerous geographical and cultural contexts.

RESUMO

Life satisfaction of the rural elderly has increasingly become an important issue for society. Based on the social support theory and Cha Xu Ge Ju (pattern of difference sequence), this study investigates the underlying mechanisms and boundary conditions that explain the relationship between social communication and life satisfaction among the rural elderly. Specifically, it explores the mediating role of psychological well-being in the relationship between social communication and life satisfaction. In addition, it examines whether emotional support moderates the effect of social communication on psychological well-being. Data from 658 rural elderly in China were analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results show that psychological well-being mediates the relationship between social communication and life satisfaction. Additionally, the relationship between social communication on psychological well-being was negatively moderated by emotional support. Finally, implications for management theory and practice are discussed.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND This study aimed to identify altered exosome circular RNA (circRNA) in the serum of patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma using high-throughput sequencing. MATERIAL AND METHODS Serum was collected from three patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma and three patients with a benign thyroid goiter. Exosomes were isolated using an exosome isolation kit and confirmed by transmission electron microscopy. Exosome circRNAs were analyzed by high-throughput sequencing using the HiSeq 4000 sequencer. The differentially expressed circRNAs were confirmed by fluorescence quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR). RESULTS Twenty-two differentially expressed circRNAs were screened, which included three that were upregulated and 19 that were down-regulated in serum from patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma compared with controls. Gene Ontology (GO) enrichment analysis showed that these differentially expressed circRNAs were associated with 16 signaling pathways, including the thyroid hormone signaling pathway, the PI3K-Akt signaling pathway, and the AMPK signaling pathway. Three differentially regulated circRNAs included hsacirc_007293, hsacirc_031752, and hsacirc_020135 were confirmed by qRT- PCR. The expression trends were consistent between the high-throughput sequencing technique and qRT-PCR. CONCLUSIONS The findings from this study have shown that gene regulation can be studied from exosomes obtained from serum samples in patients with papillary thyroid carcinoma, and supports the need for further studies on the role of exosome circRNAs in thyroid cancer.

RESUMO

In this study, we developed a quadruplex gold immunochromatogaraphic assay (GICA) for the simultaneous determination of four families of antibiotics including ß-lactams, tetracyclines, streptomycin and chloramphenicol in milk. For qualitative analysis, the visual cut-off values were measured to be 2-100 ng/mL, 16-32 ng/mL, 50 ng/mL and 2.4 ng/mL for ß-lactams, tetracyclines, streptomycin and chloramphenicol, respectively. For quantitative analysis, the detection ranges were 0.13-1 ng/mL for penicillin G, 0.13-8 ng/mL for tetracycline, 0.78-25 ng/mL for streptomycin, 0.019-1.2 ng/mL for chloramphenicol in milk respectively, with linear correlation coefficients higher than 0.97. The spiked experiment indicated that the mean recoveries ranged from 84.5% to 107.6% with coefficient of variations less than 16.2%, and real sample analysis revealed that the GICA can produce consistent results with instrumental analysis. These results demonstrated that this novel immunoassay is a promising approach for rapidly screening common antibiotic residues in milk.

RESUMO

Microbubbles are proposed as a potentially novel method for oxygen delivery in vivo in initial studies. The lack of commercial microbubbles for oxygen delivery in preclinical research prompted us to fabricate an oxygen-loaded lipid microbubble. We aimed to extend the innovative strategy to modulate the tumor hypoxic microenvironment, using microbubbles intravenously as an oxygen carrier for the controllable tumor-specific delivery of oxygen by ultrasound (US). In our experiment, an oxygen-loaded lipid-coated microbubble (OLM) with mixed gas (O2/C3 F8, 5:1 v/v) was fabricated and exhibited a higher rate of oxygen release to a desaturated solution through burst by US than that in the absence of US. Although in in vivo studies, OLMs could be imaged and triggered by US to elevate the pO2 level in the breast VX2 tumor dramatically within a matter of minutes. The added presence of US-activated OLMs elicited a nearly six-fold increase in pO2 levels within 1 min compared with that of the pre-injection. Owing to the high oxygen payload, great acoustic stability and acoustic properties, OLMs may be proposed as an ideal radio-sensitizer. We conclude that oxygen release mediated by ultrasound-targeted microbubble destruction is feasible and shows potential in image-guided, site-specific cancer radiotherapy.
