Aim: This article aimed to find appropriate pancreatic cancer (PC) patients to treat with Gemcitabine with better survival outcomes by detecting hENT1 levels. Methods: We collected surgical pathological tissues from PC patients who received radical surgery in our hospital from September 2004 to December 2014. A total of 375 PC tissues and paired adjacent nontumor tissues were employed for the construction of 4 tissue microarrays (TMAs). The quality of the 4 TMAs was examined by HE staining. We performed immunohistochemistry analysis to evaluate hENT1 expression in the TMAs. Moreover, we detected hENT1 expression level and proved the role of hENT1 in cell proliferation, drug resistance, migration and invasion in vivo and vitro. Results: The results indicated that low hENT1 expression indicated a significantly poor outcome in PC patients, including shortened DFS (21.6±2.8 months versus 36.9±4.0 months, p<0.001) and OS (33.6±3.9 versus 39.6±3.9, p=0.004). Meanwhile, patients in stage I/II of TNM stage had a longer OS (40.2±3.4 versus 15.4±1.7, p=0.002) and DFS (31.0±3.1 versus 12.4±1.9, p=0.016) than patients in stage III/IV. Patients in M0 stage had a longer OS (39.7±3.4 versus 16.2±1.9, p=0.026) and DFS(30.7±3.0 versus 11.8±2.2, p=0.031) than patients in M1 stage, and patients with tumors not invading the capsule had a better DFS than those with tumor invasion into the capsule (30.8±3.0 versus 12.6±2.3, p=0.053). Patients with preoperative CA19-9 values ≤467 U/mL have longer DFS than that of patients who had preoperative CA19-9 values >467 U/mL (37.9±4.1 versus 22.9±4.0, p=0.04). In the subgroup analysis, a high hENT1 expression level was related to a longer OS(39.4±4.0 versus 31.5±3.9, p=0.001) and DFS(35.7±4.0 versus 20.6±2.7; p<0.0001) in the Gemcitabine subgroup. Conclusion: PC patients with high hENT1 expression have a better survival outcomes when receiving Gemcitabine. hENT1 expression can be a great prognostic indicator for PC patients to receive Gemcitabine treatment.

Human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) is a transmembrane glycoprotein receptor with intracellular tyrosine kinase activity. It is generally considered as a poor prognostic marker. Targeted therapies, such as small molecule tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs), showed limited efficacy in HER2-mutant advanced nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC). In the 2023 National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines for NSCLC, antibody-drug conjugate trastuzumab emtansine is recommended for the treatment of HER2-mutant lung cancer. However, this medication is currently not approved in certain regions.So it is necessary to explore alternative treatment options for HER2-mutant NSCLC patients. In our study of a patient with HER2 exon 20 insertion lung adenocarcinoma who had previously failed multiple epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-TKI treatments, we discovered that sunvozertinib could stabilize the patient's condition, achieving a progression-free survival of 87 days. This is a novel finding that may provide new treatment options for HER2 exon 20 insertion patients who have failed TKI therapy.

A thick periodontal phenotype with thick gingiva and alveolar bone volume is required for safe orthodontic tooth movement and long-term stability. A high incidence of dehiscence and fenestration in the labial aspect of mandibular anterior teeth may limit the correction of deformity and orthodontic treatment, especially when the lower anterior teeth are needed to have a large range of movement. This study reports a combination of periodontal therapy and orthodontic therapy with periodontal corticotomy regenerative surgery (PCRS) in a 25-year-old patient suffering from skeletal Class II malocclusion and periodontitis. The patient received periodontal therapy 5 years ago and commenced orthodontic treatment 4.5 years ago. During the 4 years of follow-up for PCRS, the clinical and radiographic evaluations revealed significant improvements in the periodontal phenotype of the mandibular anterior region. The periodontal phenotypes in the mandibular incisors region were all modified from thin to thick. Supplementing orthodontic treatment with labial PCRS could be a promising treatment strategy to maintain long-term periodontal health in adult patients with alveolar deficiency and thin gingiva tissue.

Background: Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of mortality worldwide. Recent advances in deep learning technology promise better diagnosis of CAD and improve assessment of CAD plaque buildup. The purpose of this study is to assess the performance of a deep learning algorithm in detecting and classifying coronary atherosclerotic plaques in coronary computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) images. Methods: Between January 2019 and September 2020, CCTA images of 669 consecutive patients with suspected CAD from Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital Clinical College of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine were included in this study. There were 106 patients included in the retrospective plaque detection analysis, which was evaluated by a deep learning algorithm and four independent physicians with varying clinical experience. Additionally, 563 patients were included in the analysis for plaque classification using the deep learning algorithm, and their results were compared with those of expert radiologists. Plaques were categorized as absent, calcified, non-calcified, or mixed. Results: The deep learning algorithm exhibited higher sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative predictive value (NPV), and accuracy {92% [95% confidence interval (CI): 89.5-94.1%], 87% (95% CI: 84.2-88.5%), 79% (95% CI: 76.1-82.4%), 95% (95% CI: 93.4-96.3%), and 89% (95% CI: 86.9-90.0%)} compared to physicians with ≤5 years of clinical experience in CAD diagnosis for the detection of coronary plaques. The algorithm's overall sensitivity, specificity, PPV, NPV, accuracy, and Cohen's kappa for plaque classification were 94% (95% CI: 92.3-94.7%), 90% (95% CI: 88.8-90.3%), 70% (95% CI: 68.3-72.1%), 98% (95% CI: 97.8-98.5%), 90% (95% CI: 89.8-91.1%) and 0.74 (95% CI: 0.70-0.78), indicating strong performance. Conclusions: The deep learning algorithm has demonstrated reliable and accurate detection and classification of coronary atherosclerotic plaques in CCTA images. It holds the potential to enhance the diagnostic capabilities of junior radiologists and junior intervention cardiologists in the CAD diagnosis, as well as to streamline the triage of patients with acute coronary symptoms.

In this study, we investigated the ameliorative gut modulatory effect of carboxymethylated Lycium barbarum seed dreg insoluble dietary fiber (LBSDIDF) on hyperlipidemic mice. After seven weeks of insoluble dietary fiber (IDF) intervention, the results demonstrated that IDFs effectively inhibited body weight gain, with slimming and hypolipidemic effects, and improved liver histopathology by decreasing ALT, AST, TNF-α and IL-6, and increasing short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) levels in hyperlipidemic mice. With the increasing diversity and abundance of intestinal bacteria and decreasing ratio of Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes, intestinal flora facilitated cholesterol lowering effects in hyperlipidemic mice. Our research offers a novel concept for the use of LBSDIDF as a prebiotic to improve intestinal dysbiosis or as a preventive measure against obesity and dyslipidemia.

Osteoarthritis is a prevalent disease, characterized by subchondral fractures in its initial stages, which has no precise and specific treatment now. In this study, a novel multifunctional scaffold was synthesized by photopolymerizing glycidyl methacrylate-modified hyaluronic acid as the matrix in the presence of hollow porous magnetic microspheres based on hydroxyapatite. In vivo subchondral bone repairing results demonstrate that the scaffold's meticulous design has the most suitable properties for subchondral bone repair. The porous structure of inorganic particles within the scaffold facilitates efficient transport of loaded exogenous vascular endothelial growth factor. The Fe3O4 nanoparticles assembled in the microspheres could promote the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells and accelerate the generation of new bone. These features enable the scaffold to exhibit favorable subchondral bone repair properties and attain high cartilage repair scores. The therapy results prove that the subchondral bone support considerably influences the upper cartilage repair process. Furthermore, magnetic resonance imaging monitoring demonstrates that Fe3O4 nanoparticles, which were gradually replaced by new bone during osteochondral defect repair, allow a noninvasive and radiation-free assessment to track the newborn bone during the osteoarthritis repair process. The composite hydrogel scaffold provides a versatile platform for biomedical applications in osteoarthritis treatment. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved.

Reactive metal-support interaction (RMSI) is an emerging way to regulate the catalytic performance for supported metal catalysts. However, the induction of RMSI by the thermal reduction is often accompanied by the encapsulation effect on metals, which limits the mechanism research and applications of RMSI. In this work, a gradient orbital coupling construction strategy was successfully developed to induce RMSI in Pt-carbide system without a reductant, leading to the formation of L12-PtxM-MCy (M = Ti, Zr, Hf, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, and W) intermetallic electrocatalysts. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations suggest that the gradient coupling of the d(M)-2p(C)-5d(Pt) orbital would induce the electron transfer from M to C covalent bonds to Pt NPs, which facilitates the formation of C vacancy (Cv) and the subsequent M migration (occurrence of RMSI). Moreover, the good correlation between the formation energy of Cv and the onset temperature of RMSI in Pt-MCx systems proves the key role of nonmetallic atomic vacancy formation for inducing RMSI. The developed L12-Pt3Ti-TiC catalyst exhibits excellent acidic methanol oxidation reaction activity, with mass activity of 2.36 A mgPt-1 in half-cell and a peak power density of 187.9 mW mgPt-1 in a direct methanol fuel cell, which is one of the best catalysts ever reported. DFT calculations reveal that L12-Pt3Ti-TiC favorably weakens *CO absorption compared to Pt-TiC due to the change of the absorption site from Pt to Ti, which accounts for the enhanced MOR performance.

Manganese-based lithium-ion sieves have become some of the promising adsorbents for extracting Li+ from brines. However, manganese dissolution loss (MDL) severely impairs the stability and cyclicity of ion sieves. A novel ozone eluent was first developed to extract Li+ from lithium manganese oxides, which decreased MDL decreased from 5.89% to 0.11%, and after ten regeneration cycles, the adsorption capacity retained 85.39% of the initial value, which was better than 55.15% when only hydrochloric acid (HCl) was used as the eluent. Based on these phenomena, the mechanism for the O3 lowering of MDL was investigated. First, the catalytic decomposition reaction of O3 competed with the disproportionation reaction, and the involvement of O3 inhibited the occurrence of the disproportionation reaction. Additionally, the presence of O3 and reactive oxygen species provided a preferential electron acceptor compared to Mn3+ during the migration of electrons from the bulk phase to the surface. In this study, MDL was greatly reduced with a very simple strategy, and the cycling stability of the adsorbent was improved.

Aiming at the problem of luminance uniformity for injection electroluminescent display panels, we present a new sample compensation method based on column-control according to successive scans theory. On the basis of our ideas, a small part of pixels of each column are selected as samples, and the column gating time calculated by sample average luminance value of corresponding column is written in hardware program. We adopt the 64 × 32 LEDs display panel as an example to expound the compensation method and obtain good result that the reduction in amplitude of luminance non-uniformity is 65.42% for the sample area, 58.67% for the non-sample area and 60.21% for the entire display panel.

Strong wave-current interaction under the impact of storm events can induce a series of complex sedimentary processes of sediment resuspension and transport and morphology changes, significantly changing the topography of coastal zones. However, coastal sedimentary processes during storm events have not been fully understood. In this study, we developed a wave-current-sediment coupled model to investigate the response of dynamical processes to extreme storm events. The model was first validated against the observed data for both storm conditions during the 2007 Typhoon Wipha and fair-weather conditions in 2016 in the Haizhou Bay (HZB) of the Yellow Sea. The simulated results indicated that the longshore sediment transport was dominated originally by tidal effects which were significantly enhanced by wind-induced waves during the passage of the Typhoon Wipha. Storms with different characteristics correspond to two typical sedimentary dynamic response modes based on a series of numerical experiments. The tidal pumping effect (T3 + T4 + T5) and gravitational circulation term (T6) controlled the total storm-induced sediment flux, and T6 played a crucial and special role, typically in the opposite direction of the dominant wind of the storm. The strong wind could lead to the stratification of the water column, causing the down-slope or up-slope cross-shore sediment transport, resulting in coastal seabed erosion/deposition. In addition, the onshore wind was found to have a stronger impact on the sedimentary process. The methodology and findings of this study provide a scientific basis for understanding the response mechanism of sediment transport during storm events in coastal areas.

Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is the primary inducer of cancer-related death worldwide. Asiaticoside (ATS) is a triterpenoid saponin that has been indicated to possess an antitumor activity in several malignancies. Nonetheless, its detailed functions in NSCLC remain unclarified. In this study, NSCLC cells were exposed to various doses of ATS. Functional experiments were employed to estimate the ATS effect on NSCLC cell behaviors. Western blotting was implemented for protein expression evaluation. A xenograft mouse model was established to assess the ATS effect on NSCLC in vivo. The results showed that ATS restrained NSCLC cell proliferation, cell cycle progression, migration, and invasiveness. ATS reversed TGF-ß-induced promotion in epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). Mechanistically, ATS inhibited Wnt/ß-catenin signaling in NSCLC. Upregulating ß-catenin restored ATS-mediated suppression of NSCLC cell aggressiveness. Moreover, ATS administration repressed tumorigenesis in tumor-bearing mice. In conclusion, ATS represses growth and metastasis in NSCLC by blocking EMT via the inhibition of Wnt/ß-catenin signaling.

Ferroptosis, a novel form of iron-dependent non-apoptotic cell death, plays an active role in the pathogenesis of diverse diseases, including cancer. However, the mechanism through which ferroptosis is regulated in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) remains unclear. Here, our study, via combining bioinformatic analysis with experimental validation, showed that ferroptosis is inhibited in PDAC. Genome-wide sequencing further revealed that the ferroptosis activator imidazole ketone erastin (IKE) induced upregulation of the E3 ubiquitin ligase RBCK1 in PDAC cells at the transcriptional or translational level. RBCK1 depletion or knockdown rendered PDAC cells more vulnerable to IKE-induced ferroptotic death in vitro. In a mouse xenograft model, genetic depletion of RBCK1 increased the killing effects of ferroptosis inducer on PDAC cells. Mechanistically, RBCK1 interacts with and polyubiquitylates mitofusin 2 (MFN2), a key regulator of mitochondrial dynamics, to facilitate its proteasomal degradation under ferroptotic stress, leading to decreased mitochondrial reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and lipid peroxidation. These findings not only provide new insights into the defense mechanisms of PDAC cells against ferroptotic death but also indicate that targeting the RBCK1-MFN2 axis may be a promising option for treating patients with PDAC.

BACKGROUND: The excessive salt intake associated with Douchi has become a topic of controversy. Addressing this concern and enhancing its market competitiveness necessitates the application of salt reduction fermentation in Douchi. Therefore, to promote the application of salt reduction fermentation in Douchi, a comprehensive study was undertaken aiming to investigate the differences in biogenic amines, volatile compounds and non-volatile compounds in Douchi with varying salt content. RESULTS: The findings unequivocally demonstrate that salt hampers the formation of metabolites in Douchi. As the salt content increased, there was a significant decrease (P < 0.05) in the levels of total acid, amino-type nitrogen and free amino acids in Douchi. Notably, when the salt content exceeded 80 g kg-1, there was a substantial reduction (P < 0.05) in putrescine, lactic acid and malic acid levels. Similarly, when the salt content surpassed 40 g kg-1, ß-phenethylamine and oxalic acid levels exhibited a significant decline (P < 0.05). Furthermore, the results of E-nose and principal component analysis based on headspace solid phase microextraction gas chromatography-mass spectrometry revealed notable discrepancies in the volatile compound content between Douchi samples with relatively low salt content (40 and 80 g kg-1) and those with relatively high salt content (120, 160 and 200 g kg-1) (P < 0.05). By employing partial least squares discriminant analysis, eight distinct volatile compounds, including o-xylene, benzaldehyde and 1-octen-one, were identified. These compounds exhibited higher concentrations in Douchi samples with relatively low salt content (40 and 80 g kg-1). The sensory results showed that Douchi samples with lower salt content exhibited higher scores in the soy sauce-like and Douchi aroma attributes. CONCLUSION: In conclusion, this study significantly enhances our understanding of the impact of salt on metabolites in Douchi and provides invaluable insights for the development of salt reduction fermentation in this context. © 2024 Society of Chemical Industry.

Rechargeable Li-CO2 batteries are considered as a promising carbon-neutral energy storage technology owing to their ultra-high energy density and efficient CO2 capture capability. However, the sluggish CO2 reduction/evolution kinetics impedes their practical application, which leads to huge overpotentials and poor cyclability. Multi-element transit metal oxides (TMOs) are demonstrated as effective cathodic catalysts for Li-CO2 batteries. But there are no reports on the integration of defect engineering on multi-element TMOs. Herein, the oxygen vacancy-bearing Li-Ni-Co-Mn multi-oxide (Re-NCM-H3) catalyst with the α-NaFeO2-type structure is first fabricated by annealing the NiCoMn precursor that derived from spent ternary LiNi0.8Co0.1Mn0.1O2 cathode, in H2 at 300 °C. As demonstrated by experimental results and theory calculations, the introduction of moderate oxygen vacancy has optimized electronic state near the Fermi level (Ef), eventually improving CO2 adsorption and charge transfer. Therefore, the Li-CO2 batteries with Re-NCM-H3 catalyst deliver a high capacity (11808.9 mAh g-1), a lower overpotential (1.54 V), as well as excellent stability over 216 cycles at 100 mA g-1 and 165 cycles at 400 mA g-1. This study not only opens up a sustainable application of spent ternary cathode, but also validates the potential of multi-element TMO catalysts with oxygen defects for high-efficiency Li-CO2 batteries.

Aeromonas dhakensis is reported as an emerging pathogenic species within the genus Aeromonas and is widely distributed in tropical coastal areas. This study provided a detailed description and characterization of a strain of A. dhakensis (202108B1) isolated from diseased Ancherythroculter nigrocauda in an inland region of China. Biochemical tests identified the isolate at the genus level, and the further molecular analysis of concatenated housekeeping gene sequences revealed that the strain belonged to the species A. dhakensis. The isolated A. dhakensis strain was resistant to five antibiotics, namely, penicillin, ampicillin, clindamycin, cephalexin and imipenem, while it was susceptible or showed intermediate resistance to most of the other fifteen tested antibiotics. The isolated strain of A. dhakensis caused acute haemorrhagic septicaemia and tissue damage in artificially infected A. nigrocauda, with a median lethal dose of 7.76×104 CFU/fish. The genome size of strain 202108B1 was 5043286 bp, including one chromosome and four plasmids. This is the first detailed report of the occurrence of infection caused by an A. dhakensis strain causing infection in an aquaculture system in inland China, providing important epidemiological data on this potential pathogenic species.

BACKGROUND: Da Vinci Robotics-assisted total mesorectal excision (TME) surgery for rectal cancer is becoming more widely used. There is no strong evidence that robotic-assisted surgery and laparoscopic surgery have similar outcomes in elderly patients with TME for rectal cancer. AIM: To determine the improved oncological outcomes and short-term efficacy of robot-assisted surgery in elderly patients undergoing TME surgery. METHODS: A retrospective study of the clinical pathology and follow-up of elderly patients who underwent TME surgery at the Department of Gastrointestinal Oncology at the Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine was conducted from March 2020 through September 2023. The patients were divided into a robot-assisted group (the R-TME group) and a laparoscopic group (the L-TME group), and the short-term efficacy of the two groups was compared. RESULTS: There were 45 elderly patients (≥ 60 years) in the R-TME group and 50 elderly patients (≥ 60 years) in the L-TME group. There were no differences in demographics, conversion rates, or postoperative complication rates. The L-TME group had a longer surgical time than the R-TME group [145 (125, 187.5) vs 180 (148.75, 206.25) min, P = 0.005), and the first postoperative meal time in the L-TME group was longer than that in the R-TME (4 vs 3 d, P = 0.048). Among the sex and body mass index (BMI) subgroups, the R-TME group had better outcomes than did the L-TME group in terms of operation time (P = 0.042) and intraoperative assessment of bleeding (P = 0.042). In the high BMI group, catheter removal occurred earlier in the R-TME group than in the L-TME group (3 vs 4 d, P = 0.001), and autonomous voiding function was restored. CONCLUSION: The curative effect and short-term efficacy of robot-assisted TME surgery for elderly patients with rectal cancer are similar to those of laparoscopic TME surgery; however, robotic-assisted surgery has better short-term outcomes for individuals with risk factors such as obesity and pelvic stenosis. Optimizing the learning curve can shorten the operation time, reduce the recovery time of gastrointestinal function, and improve the prognosis.

The immunoprotective components control COVID-19 disease severity, as well as long-term adaptive immunity maintenance and subsequent reinfection risk discrepancies across initial COVID-19 severity, remain unclarified. Here, we longitudinally analyzed SARS-CoV-2-specific immune effectors during the acute infection and convalescent phases of 165 patients with COVID-19 categorized by severity. We found that early and robust SARS-CoV-2-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cell responses ameliorate disease progression and shortened hospital stay, while delayed and attenuated virus-specific CD8+ T cell responses are prominent severe COVID-19 features. Delayed antiviral antibody generation rather than titer level associates with severe outcomes. Conversely, initial COVID-19 severity imprints the long-term maintenance of SARS-CoV-2-specific adaptive immunity, demonstrating that severe convalescents exhibited more sustained virus-specific antibodies and memory T cell responses compared to mild/moderate counterparts. Moreover, initial COVID-19 severity inversely correlates with SARS-CoV-2 reinfection risk. Overall, our study unravels the complicated interaction between temporal characteristics of virus-specific T cell responses and COVID-19 severity to guide future SARS-CoV-2 wave management.

Identifying aflatoxin-detoxifying probiotics remains a significant challenge in mitigating the risks associated with aflatoxin contamination in crops. Biological detoxification is a popular technique that reduces mycotoxin hazards and garners consumer acceptance. Through multiple rounds of screening and validation tests, Geotrichum candidum XG1 demonstrated the ability to degrade aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) by 99-100%, exceeding the capabilities of mere adsorption mechanisms. Notably, the degradation efficiency was demonstrably influenced by the presence of copper and iron ions in the liquid medium, suggesting a potential role for proteases in the degradation process. Subsequent validation experiments with red pepper revealed an 83% reduction in AFB1 levels following fermentation with G. candidum XG1. Furthermore, mass spectrometry analysis confirmed the disruption of the AFB1 furan ring structure, leading to a subsequent reduction in its toxicity. Collectively, these findings establish G. candidum XG1 as a promising candidate for effective aflatoxin degradation, with potential applications within the food industry.

Cytotoxicity assays are crucial for assessing the efficacy of drugs in killing cancer cells and determining their potential therapeutic value. Measurement of the effect of drug concentration, which is an influence factor on cytotoxicity, is of great importance. This paper proposes a cytotoxicity assay using microwave sensors in an end-point approach based on the detection of the number of live cells for the first time. In contrast to optical methods like fluorescent labeling, this research uses a resonator-type microwave biosensor to evaluate the effects of drug concentrations on cytotoxicity by monitoring electrical parameter changes due to varying cell densities. Initially, the feasibility of treating cells with ultrapure water for cell counting by a microwave biosensor is confirmed. Subsequently, inhibition curves generated by both the CCK-8 method and the new microwave biosensor for various drug concentrations were compared and found to be congruent. This agreement supports the potential of microwave-based methods to quantify cell growth inhibition by drug concentrations.

The endoplasmic reticulum (ER) acts as the major storage site for calcium ions, which are messenger ions for intracellular signaling. Disruption of calcium ion homeostasis can significantly affect the viscosity, polarity and pH of the ER. However, it is still unclear the relationship between the viscosity changes in ER and the imbalance of calcium ion homeostasis. Herein, we developed a novel fluorescent probe, named TPA, for monitoring viscosity changes that specifically targets the endoplasmic reticulum rather than mitochondria or lysosomes. TPA probe displayed good stability, as well as high responsiveness and selectivity to viscosity. The fluorescence intensity of TPA was significantly enhanced with the increased concentration or incubation time of the stimulating agents(i.e., tunicamycin), showing high responsiveness to the viscosity changes in ER. Furthermore, the TPA probe successfully demonstrated that an increase in intracellular calcium ion concentration leads to an increase in ER viscosity, whereas a decrease in calcium ion concentration leads to a decrease viscosity in ER. Both in vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that TPA probe successfully detected the viscosity changes in ER, especially the effects of calcium ion homeostasis disruption on ER. Overall, the TPA probe represents an efficient method for studying the relationship between calcium ion homeostasis and ER viscosity.
