Anterior teeth problems affect the patient's daily eating, communication, social activities, self-confidence, and mental health. The trend in dentistry is to address anterior tooth problems with minimally invasive and aesthetic treatments. With the development of adhesive materials and ceramics, micro-veneers have been proposed as an alternative treatment for enhancing the aesthetic appearance and avoiding unnecessary tooth reduction. A micro-veneer is a veneer that can be cemented to the surface without or with minimal tooth preparation. These benefits include no need for anesthesia, postoperative insensitivity, good adhesion to enamel, reversibility of treatment, and higher patient acceptance. However, the micro-veneer repair is suitable only for specific cases and must be strictly controlled regarding indication. Treatment planning is a crucial step to achieving functional and aesthetic rehabilitation, and following the clinical protocol is helpful for the longevity and success of micro-veneer restorations. However, more precise and predictable tooth preparation methods, such as minimally invasive microscopic tooth preparation and digitally guided veneer preparation, are recommended rather than the traditional free-hand method. Therefore, this paper clarifies micro-veneers and compares them with other restorations to gain a deeper and more comprehensive understanding. The authors also review indications, materials, cementation, and effect evaluation of micro-veneers to provide clinicians with valuable information. In conclusion, micro-veneers are minimally invasive treatments that provide good restoration results when used appropriately and are worthy of promotion for the aesthetic restoration of anterior teeth.

ABSTRACTAerobic composting of food waste (FW) from rural China using a composting device results in a substantial financial burden on the government. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of mitigating this cost using vermicomposting of composted FW. The specific aims were to elucidate the effects of composted FW on earthworm growth and reproduction, reveal the changes in the physical and chemical properties of earthworm casts during vermicomposting, identify the microbial community structure associated with vermicomposting, and perform a financial analysis based on the yield of earthworms and earthworm casts. Mixing composted FW and mature cow dung in an equal ratio achieved the highest earthworm reproduction rate, where 100 adult earthworms produced 567 juvenile earthworms and 252 cocoons in 40 d. Earthworms reduce salt content of vermicomposting substrates by assimilating Na+ and promoting humification by transforming humin into humic and fulvic acid, thus producing earthworm casts with a high generation index > 80%. When composted FW was added to a vermicomposting substrate, a distinctive microbial community structure with alkaliphilic, halophilic, and lignocellulolytic microorganisms dominated the microflora. The dominant bacterial species was Saccharopolyspora rectivirgula, and the dominant fungal species changed from Kernia nitida to Coprinopsis scobicola. Furthermore, microbial genes for refractory organic matter and fat degradation were observed in Vibrio cholerae, Kernia nitida, and Coprinopsis scobicola. Financial analysis showed that vermicomposting has the potential to reduce the cost associated with FW disposal from $ 57 to $ 18/t.

Cotton is an important fiber plant, and it's attractive to elucidate the molecular mechanism of anther development due to the close relationship between the anther fertility and boll-setting, and also fiber yield. In the present paper, 47.2 million paired-end reads with average length of 82.87 bp from the anthers of TM-1 (Gossypium hirsutum L.), a genetic standard line, were generated through transcriptome sequencing, and 210,965 unigenes of more than 100 bp were obtained. BLAST, KEGG, COG, and GO analyses showed that the genes were enriched in the processes of transcription, translation, and post-translation as well as hormone signal transduction, the transcription factor families, and cell wall-related genes mainly participating in cell expansion and carbohydrate metabolism. Further analysis identified 11,153 potential SSRs. A suit of 5122 primer pair sequences were designed, and 82 of 300 randomly selected primer pairs produced reproducible amplicons that were polymorphic among 22 cotton accessions from G. hirsutum, Gossypium barbadense and Gossypium arboreum. The UPGMA clustering analysis further confirmed high quality and effectiveness of these novel SSR markers. The present study provided insights into the transcriptome profile of the cotton and established a public information platform for functional genomics and molecular breeding.
