RESUMO

The field of fluorescence sensing, leveraging various supramolecular self-assembled architectures constructed from macrocyclic pillar[n]arenes, has seen significant advancement in recent decades. This review comprehensively discusses, for the first time, the recent innovations in the synthesis and self-assembly of pillar[n]arene-based supramolecular architectures (PSAs) containing metal coordination sites, along with their practical applications and prospects in fluorescence sensing. Integrating hydrophobic and electron-rich cavities of pillar[n]arenes into these supramolecular structures endows the entire system with self-assembly behavior and stimulus responsiveness. Employing the host-guest interaction strategy and complementary coordination forces, PSAs exhibiting both intelligent and controllable properties are successfully constructed. This provides a broad horizon for advancing fluorescence sensors capable of detecting environmental pollutants. This review aims to establish a solid foundation for the future development of fluorescence sensing applications utilizing PSAs. Additionally, current challenges and future perspectives in this field are discussed.

Bacteria-associated infections and thrombosis, particularly catheter-related bloodstream infections and catheter-related thrombosis, are life-threatening complications. Herein, we utilize a concise assembly of heparin sodium with organosilicon quaternary ammonium surfactant to fabricate a multifunctional coating complex. In contrast to conventional one-time coatings, the complex attaches to medical devices with arbitrary shapes and compositions through a facile dipping process and further forms robust coatings to treat catheter-related bloodstream infections and thrombosis simultaneously. Through their robustness and adaptively dissociation, coatings not only exhibit good stability under extreme conditions but also significantly reduce thrombus adhesion by 60%, and shows broad-spectrum antibacterial activity ( > 97%) in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, an ex vivo rabbit model verifies that the coated catheter has the potential to prevent catheter-related bacteremia during implantation. This substrate-independent and portable long-lasting multifunctional coating can be employed to meet the increasing clinical demands for combating catheter-related bloodstream infections and thrombosis.

Enhancing the high electric field resistance and energy storage capacity of polymer dielectrics has been a long-standing challenge for the iterations of power equipment. Synergistic inhibition of carrier injection and transport is vital to energy storage performance improvement. Herein, promising polymer polyetherimide (PEI) was employed as a matrix and wider bandgap boron nitride nanosheets (BNNSs) were used as a reinforcing filler. Utilizing high-throughput stochastic breakdown simulations with the distribution characteristics of BNNSs as parameters, a series of topological gradient structures with the potential to enhance performance were obtained, thereby shortening the experimental cycle. Changing the BNNS distribution of symmetric/asymmetric and positive/inverse gradients, as well as the total and gradient contents of BNNSs, means that the position and condition of the surface barrier layer and central hinder layer change, which influences the energy storage performance of the polymer at room temperature and high temperature. Remarkably, the asymmetric gradient structure composite dielectrics exhibited excellent performances. Among them, the PEI-based composite dielectric with 2 vol% BNNS asymmetric inverse gradient distribution (gradient content of 1 vol%) achieved energy densities of 8.26 and 4.78 J cm-3 at room temperature and 150 °C, respectively. The asymmetric gradient structure design strategy holds great promise for optimizing the energy storage capacity of polymer dielectric capacitors.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) exhibit mighty antibacterial properties without inducing drug resistance. Achieving much higher selectivity of AMPs towards bacteria and normal cells has always been a continuous goal to be pursued. Herein, a series of sulfonium-based polypeptides with different degrees of branching and polymerization were synthesized by mimicking the structure of vitamin U. The polypeptide, G2 -PM-1H+ , shows both potent antibacterial activity and the highest selectivity index of 16000 among the reported AMPs or peptoids (e.g., the known index of 9600 for recorded peptoid in "Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., 2020, 59, 6412."), which can be attributed to the high positive charge density of sulfonium and the regulation of hydrophobic chains in the structure. The antibacterial mechanisms of G2 -PM-1H+ are primarily ascribed to the interaction with the membrane, production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and disfunction of ribosomes. Meanwhile, altering the degree of alkylation leads to selective antibacteria against either gram-positive or gram-negative bacteria in a mixed-bacteria model. Additionally, both in vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that G2 -PM-1H+ exhibited superior efficacy against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) compared to vancomycin. Together, these results show that G2 -PM-1H+ possesses high biocompatibility and is a potential pharmaceutical candidate in combating bacteria significantly threatening human health.

Massive bleeding and wound infection due to severe traumas pose a huge threat to the life and health of sufferers; therefore, it is of clinical importance to fabricate adhesives with rapid hemostatic and superior antibacterial capabilities. However, the weak wet adhesion and insufficient function of existing bioadhesives limits their practical application. In this study, a sandcastle worm protein inspired polyelectrolyte self-coacervate adhesive of poly-γ-glutamic acid (PGA) and lysozyme (LZM) was developed. The adhesive exhibited strong underwater adhesion to various surfaces (>250 kPa for solid plates and >50 kPa for soft tissues) and maintained a 80 kPa even when soaked in water for 7 days. Rat liver and tail defect bleeding models revealed that the hemostatic efficiency was superior to that of commercial samples. The in vitro antimicrobial tests showed that the bacterial inhibition to Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli reached almost 100%. Additionally, the infected wound regeneration model demonstrated that the healing rate of the adhesive group was about 100% within 15 days, which was greater than that of the control group. In vitro and in vivo experiments proved that this facilely prepared adhesive will be a promising material to fulfil the integration functions for rapid wound closure and facilitating wound healing.

Adhesives with both robust adhesion and tunable degradability are clinically and ecologically vital, but their fabrication remains a formidable challenge. Here we propose an in situ radical ring-opening polymerization (rROP) strategy to design a backbone-degradable robust adhesive (BDRA) in physiological environment. The hydrophobic cyclic ketene acetal and hydrophilic acrylate monomer mixture of the BDRA precursor allows it to effectively wet and penetrate substrates, subsequently forming a deep covalently interpenetrating network with a degradable backbone via redox-initiated in situ rROP. The resulting BDRAs show good adhesion strength on diverse materials and tissues (e.g., wet bone >16 MPa, and porcine skin >150 kPa), higher than that of commercial cyanoacrylate superglue (~4 MPa and 56 kPa). Moreover, the BDRAs have enhanced tunable degradability, mechanical modulus (100 kPa-10 GPa) and setting time (seconds-hours), and have good biocompatibility in vitro and in vivo. This family of BDRAs expands the scope of medical adhesive applications and offers an easy and environmentally friendly approach for engineering.

This study explores how the perception of specific aspects of smart governance affects the business environment as to attract investment. To this end, we used a survey design and collected data from Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Hangzhou. A total of 500 responses from different industries and companies were obtained and then empirically analyzed using ridge regression and intermediary effect models. We found that the perception of smart governance enhances investment due to strong governance and abundant business opportunities. Natural sustainability attracts investment directly because, when cities become smart, they tend to improve their sustainability and attract talent and capital inflows. This external participation has a direct impact on enterprise investment because it creates more business opportunities. An improved social credit system represents the comprehensive progress of the business environment and positively mediates smart governance and investment. This is the first study to combine the key elements of smart governance, the development stage of smart governance, and various dimensions of the business environment to analyze the influence of smart governance perceptions on commercial investments.

To address the paradox of mutually exclusive confusions between the breakdown strength and polarization of the polymer-based composites at high-temperature, a dynamic multisite bonding network is constructed by connecting the -NH2 groups of polyetherimide (PEI) and Zn2+ in metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Owing to the multisite bonding network being dynamically stable at high-temperature, the composites possess a high breakdown strength of 588.1 MV m-1 at 150 °C, which is 85.2% higher than that of PEI. Importantly, the multisite bonding network could be thermally activated at high-temperature to generate extra polarization, which is because the Zn-N coordination bonds are evenly stretched. At similar electric fields, the composites show higher energy storage density at high-temperature compared with that at room temperature, and present excellent cycling stability even with increased electrode size. Finally, the reversible stretching of the multisite bonding network against temperature variation is confirmed by the in situ X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) and theoretical calculations. This work presents a pioneering example of the construction of self-adaptive polymer dielectrics in extreme environments, which might be a potential method for designing recyclable polymer-based capacitive dielectrics.

Adhesives with strong underwater adhesion performance are urgently needed in diverse areas. However, designing adhesives with long-term stability to diverse materials underwater in a facile way is challenging. Here, inspired by aquatic diatoms, a series of novel biomimetic universal adhesives is reported that shows tunable performance with robust and long-lasting stable underwater adhesion to various substrates, including wet biological tissues. The versatile and robust wet-contact adhesives are pre-polymerized by N-[tris(hydroxymethyl)methyl]acrylamide, n-butyl acrylate, and methylacrylic acid in dimethyl sulfoxide and spontaneously coacervated in water triggered by solvent exchange. The synergistic interaction between hydrogen bonding and hydrophobic interaction allows the hydrogels with instant and strong adhesion to various substrate surfaces. The slowly formed covalent bonds enhance cohesion and adhesion strength in hours. The spatial and timescale-dependent adhesion mechanism endows the adhesives with strong and long-lasting stable underwater adhesion to be coupled with fault-tolerant convenient surgical operations.

The formation of biofilm and thrombus on medical catheters poses a significant life-threatening concern. Hydrophilic anti-biofouling coatings upon catheter surfaces with complex shapes and narrow lumens are demonstrated to have the potential in reducing complications. However, their effectiveness is constrained by poor mechanical stability and weak substrate adhesion. Herein, a novel zwitterionic polyurethane (SUPU) with strong mechanical stability and long-term anti-biofouling is developed by controlling the ratio of sulfobetaine-diol and ureido-pyrimidinone. Once immersed in water, as-synthesized zwitterionic coating (SUPU3 SE) would undergo a water-driven segment reorientation to obtain much higher durability than its direct drying one, even under various extreme treatments, including acidic solution, abrasion, ultrasonication, flushing, and shearing, in PBS at 37 °C for 14 days. Moreover, SUPU3 SE coating could achieve a 97.1% of exceptional reducing protein fouling, complete prevention of cell adhesion, and long-lasting anti-biofilm performance even after 30 days. Finally, the good anti-thrombogenic formations of SUPU3 SE coating with bacterial treatment are validated in blood circulation through an ex vivo rabbit arteriovenous shunt model. This work provides a facile approach to fabricating stable hydrophilic coating through a simple solvent exchange to reduce thrombosis and infection of biomedical catheters.

BACKGROUND: Peri-hilar cholangiocarcinoma (pCCA) is a unique entity, and radical surgery provides the only chance for cure and long-term survival. But it is still under debate which surgical strategy (i.e., left-sided hepatectomy, LH or right-sided hepatectomy, RH) should be followed and benefitted. METHODS: We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to analyze the clinical outcomes and prognostic value of LH versus RH for resectable pCCA. This study followed the PRISMA and AMSTAR guidelines. RESULTS: A total of 14 cohort studies include 1072 patients in the meta-analysis. The results showed no statistical difference between the two groups in terms of overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS). But compared to the LH group, the RH group exhibited more employment of preoperative portal vein embolization (PVE), higher rate of overall complications, post-hepatectomy liver failure (PHLF), and perioperative mortality, while LH was associated with higher frequency of arterial resection/reconstruction, longer operative time, and more postoperative bile leakage. There was no statistical difference between the two groups in terms of preoperative biliary drainage, R0 resection rate, portal vein resection, intraoperative bleeding, and intraoperative blood transfusion rate. CONCLUSIONS: According to our meta-analyses, LH and RH have comparable oncological effects on curative resection for pCCA patients. Although LH is not inferior to RH in DFS and OS, it requires more arterial reconstruction which is technically demanding and should be performed by experienced surgeons in high-volume centers. Selectin of surgical strategy between LH and RH should be based on not only tumor location (Bismuth classification) but also vascular involvement and future liver remnant (FLR).

Assisted reproductive technologies (ART), including in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), are known to contribute a higher risk of birth defects; however, studies have rarely evaluated the association between IVF-ET and diagnostic hearing loss (HL). This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of and risk factors for HL and to clarify the association between IVF-ET and HL among twinborn infants. We enrolled 1860 live-born twin neonates born at a hospital in China from January 2017 to December 2020. After multi-step hearing screening, participants were diagnosed with HL by pediatric audiologists at 6 months of age. The prevalence of hearing loss and the adjusted odds ratios (AORs) for specific risk factors were estimated using generalized estimation equation (GEE) models in twin-born infants. Characteristics and prevalence of failure for hearing screening and HL were measured in IVF-ET twin infants. IVF-ET conception and preterm birth conferred a higher risk of hearing loss, with increased adjusted odds ratios (AOR [95% confidence intervals (CI)] IVF-ET: 2.82 [1.17-6.80], P = 0.021; preterm birth: 6.14 [2.30-16.40], P < 0.001) than the control group, respectively. Among the 1860 twin infants, more IVF-ET twins failed in dual-step hearing screening (3.26%) and were diagnosed with hearing loss (2.21%) than those conceived by spontaneous pregnancy. CONCLUSION: IVF-ET conception and premature birth were associated with a higher risk of hearing impairment. Twin infants conceived by IVF-ET tended to fail in hearing screening and be diagnosed with hearing loss. These observations provide a more comprehensive approach for the prevention and management of deafness in twin-born children. WHAT IS KNOWN: • IVF-ET technologies conferred a higher risk of birth defects. WHAT IS NEW: • Premature birth and IVF-ET conception were associated with a higher risk of hearing loss among twin infants. • Twin infants conceived by IVF-ET tended to fail in hearing screening and diagnosed with hearing loss.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Depression and sleep duration were only mutually adjusted in a few studies, and it is unknown whether these two factors are independent or overlapping risk factors for cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs) and mortality. This study aimed to evaluate the individual and joint associations of depression and sleep duration with CMDs and mortality. METHODS: A total of 261,297 participants who were free of CMD at baseline were included. Sleep duration was divided into three groups (short: <7 h/day, referent: ages 39-64 years: 7-9 h/day; ages 65+ years: 7-8 h/day, and long: ages 39-64 years: >9 h/day; ages 65+ years: >8 h/day). The main outcomes were hypertension, stroke, CHD, DM, all-cause mortality, and cardiovascular mortality. RESULTS: Among the 261,297 participants, depression and short or long sleep duration were independently associated with increased risk of CMDs and mortality (hazard ratio [HR], 1.10-1.38) when they were mutually adjusted, except for the association between short sleep duration and stroke (HR, 1.03; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.97-1.10). We documented significant additive interactions between depression and short sleep duration in relation to all-cause mortality (relative excess risk due to interaction [RERI], 0.19; 95% CI, 0.02-0.37) and CHD (RERI, 0.30; 95% CI, 0.11-0.48). CONCLUSIONS: In this study, depression and short or long sleep duration were independently associated with an increased risk of CMDs and mortality. We also observed significant additive interactions between depression and short sleep duration in relation to all-cause mortality and CHD.

BACKGROUND: Cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM) is becoming increasingly common in patients with hypertension, and it is well established that healthy lifestyle plays a key role in the prevention of hypertension. However, the association between combined lifestyle factors and CMM in patients with hypertension is uncertain. METHODS: This prospective analysis included the data (obtained from the UK biobank) of participants with hypertension who did not have coronary heart disease (CHD), stroke, or diabetes. The outcome was the occurrence of CMM, defined as ≥ 1 disease of CHD, stroke, and diabetes that occurred in participants with hypertension. Four lifestyle factors (smoking, alcohol consumption, diet, and physical activity) were assessed using a weighted healthy lifestyle score, and participants were divided into four groups: the very unhealthy, unhealthy, healthy, and very healthy groups. The flexible parameter Royston-Parmar proportional hazard model was used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) between lifestyles and CMM, as well as the difference in CMM-free life expectancy. RESULTS: During a median follow-up of 12.2 years, 9812 (18.4%) of the 53,397 hypertensive patients occurred CMM. Compared with the very unhealthy group, the very healthy group had a 41% reduction in the risk for CMM in hypertensive patients and a 32-50% reduction in the risk for specific cardiometabolic diseases such as CHD, stroke, and diabetes. For each lifestyle factor, non-smoking had the greatest protective effect against CMM (HR: 0.64, 95% confidence interval (CI) 0.60-0.68). A lifestyle combining multiple healthy factors extended CMM-free life expectancy (e.g., six years longer at age 45 years for participants in the very healthy group). CONCLUSIONS: Combined healthy lifestyle factors were associated with a lower risk for CMM in hypertensive patients. This suggests that combined healthy lifestyle should be supported to decrease disease burden.

Objective: Although many unexplained intellectual disability/global developmental delay (ID/GDD) individuals have benefited from the excellent detection yield of copy number variations and next-generation sequencing testing, many individuals still who suffer from ID/GDD of unexplained etiology. In this study, we investigated the applicability of fragile X syndrome (FXS) testing in unexplained ID/GDD individuals with negative or absent genetic testing. Methods: In this study, we used the triplet repeat primed polymerase chain reaction to evaluate the value and application of fragile X testing in unexplained ID/GDD individuals with negative or absent genetic testing (n = 681) from three hospitals. Results: Of the 681 ID/GDD individuals with negative or absent genetic testing results detected by FXS testing, 12 men and one woman were positive. This corresponded to a diagnostic yield of 1.9% for FXS testing in our cohort. All FXS individuals had either a family history of ID/GDD or suggestive clinical features. The detection yield of FXS testing in ID/GDD individuals who completed genetic testing (2.70%, 12/438) was significantly higher than in individuals without any genetic testing (0.40%, 1/243). Conclusions: This is the first report of FXS testing in ID/GDD individuals who lacked previous genetic testing, which promotes standardization of the FXS diagnostic process. These results highlight the utility of FXS testing of unexplained ID/GDD individuals with negative results from standard genetic testing. In the era of next-generation sequencing, FXS testing is more suitable as a second-tier choice and provides clinicians and geneticists with auxiliary references for tracing the etiology of ID/GDD.

Background Although the association between shift work and individual cardiometabolic diseases has been well studied, its role in the progression to cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM) remains unclear. In this study, we investigate the association between shift work and the incidence of CMM in patients with hypertension. Methods and Results This study is a population-based and prospective cohort study on 36 939 UK Biobank participants. We used competing risk models to examine the association between shift work and the risk of CMM, which was defined as coexistence of hypertension and diabetes, coronary heart disease, or stroke in our study. We also investigated the association between the frequency and duration of shift work and CMM risks. In addition, we conducted a cross-classification analysis with the combination of frequency and duration of shift work, chronotype and sleep duration as the exposure metrics. During a median follow-up of 11.6 years, a total of 5935 participants developed CMM. We found that usually/always night shift workers were associated with a 16% higher risk of CMM compared with day workers (hazard ratio [HR], 1.16 [95% CI, 1.02-1.31]). We also found that a higher frequency of night shifts (>10/month) was associated with increased risk of CMM (HR, 1.19 [95% CI, 1.06-1.34]) that was more pronounced for >10/month in combination with a morning chronotype or <7 hours or >8 hours of sleep duration (HR, 1.26 [95% CI, 1.02-1.56]; HR, 1.43 [95% CI, 1.19-1.72], respectively). Conclusions We find that night shift work is associated with higher CMM risk in patients with hypertension.

As a result of business environment reforms in China's Hangzou, the cost of business has reduced, the confidence of Hangzhou enterprises has survived the COVID-19 outbreak, and foreign investment continues to increase. Nevertheless, Hangzhou's business environment has shortcomings, such as insufficient technology, talent, and intelligent infrastructure. Two unresolved questions persist: (i) Has the smart business environment stimulated corporate investment by reducing system costs and boosting corporate confidence? (ii) How do the commercial climate's shortcomings impact the relationship between the intelligent business environment and business costs/confidence? We examined the impact of a local smart business environment on the corporate investment scale in Hangzhou using factor analysis, cluster analysis, linear regression, and path analyses of data from 297 firm managers. Smart governance improved public administration, financing, and rule of law. The business environment promoted investment by increasing business confidence and decreasing institutional costs. Weak intelligent property protection and legal fairness hindered the positive influence of smart governance on business confidence and system costs. This is the first study combining business environment, smart city, and smart governance concepts to analyze the influence of local smart business environments on business confidence, institutional costs, and investment. Our conclusion on the limitation effect of intelligent business environment on enterprise investment attempts to inspire further research on the intersection of business environments and smart cities. The law of intelligent business environment attracting investment obtained in the context of China, the largest developing country with diversified economic development, is of great significance for other developing countries. Countries can attract investment and promote economic development through intelligent governance. Developing countries should construct smart service platforms, coordinate supervision of public credit, reduce financing constraint, construct a government under the rule of law, improve the quality of land management, and protect intellectual property rights.

With the rapid development of modern electrical and electronic applications, the demand for high-performance film capacitors is becoming increasingly urgent. The energy density of a capacitor is dependent on permittivity and breakdown strength. However, the development of polymer-based composites with both high permittivity (εr) and breakdown strength (Eb) remains a huge challenge. In this work, a strategy of doping synergistic dual-fillers with complementary functionalities into polymer is demonstrated, by which high εr and Eb are obtained simultaneously. Small-sized titania nanosheets (STNSs) with high εr and high-insulating boron nitride sheets coated with polydopamine on the surface (BN@PDA) were introduced into poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) to prepare a ternary composite. Remarkably, a PVDF-based composite with 1 wt% BN@PDA and 0.5 wt% STNSs (1 wt% PVDF/BN@PDA-STNSs) shows an excellent energy storage performance, including a high εr of ~13.9 at 1 Hz, a superior Eb of ~440 kV/mm, and a high discharged energy density Ue of ~12.1 J/cm3. Moreover, the simulation results confirm that BN@PDA sheets improve breakdown strength and STNSs boost polarization, which is consistent with the experimental results. This contribution provides a new design paradigm for energy storage dielectrics.

BACKGROUND: Cardiometabolic diseases (CMDs) including hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetes and stroke, are always combined with each other, leading to cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM). Mood disorder was associated with onset of CMD. However, the impact of mood disorder on the transition from single CMD to CMM was poorly understood. METHODS: A total of 95,351 participants with single CMD, with median age of 59 (range 40 to 71) years from UK Biobank were enrolled at baseline. Competing risk regression models were used to estimated hazard ratios (HRs) and 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) of association between mood disorder categories and progress from single CMD to CMM. Association of mood disorder with mortality, and life expectancy differences were also calculated by flexible parametric proportion-hazard models. RESULTS: Relative associations were observed between mood disorder and the progress from first onset of CMD to CMM. Adjusted HRs for progress to CMM from those with comorbid CMD plus depression or bipolar were increased (depression: 1.23 [1.19 1.27]; bipolar: 1.47 [1.31 1.66]), compared with those with the sole CMD. Mood disorder also had impact on all-cause mortality (depression: 1.17 [1.10 1.24]; bipolar: 2.03 [1.74 2.32]) and reduced life expectancy estimates for those with single CMD. LIMITATIONS: This cohort primarily comprises White individuals. Covariates only measured at baseline and assumed unchanged during follow-up. CONCLUSIONS: Mood disorder conferred greater hazard on the CMM and mortality outcome. This study highlighted the importance of depression and bipolar in disease progression, from single CMD, to multimorbidity or mortality.

Background: The prevalence of cardiometabolic multimorbidity (CMM), which significantly increases the risk of mortality, is increasing globally. However, the role of healthy lifestyle in the secondary prevention of CMM is unclear. Methods: In total, 290,795 participants with CMM, which was defined as coexistence of at least two of hypertension (HTN), diabetes mellitus (DM), coronary heart disease (CHD), and stroke (ST), and those without these four diseases at baseline were derived from UK Biobank. The associations between specific CMM patterns and mortality, and that between healthy lifestyle (including physical activity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and vegetable and fruit consumption) and mortality in patients with specific CMM patterns were calculated using the flexible parametric Royston-Parmar proportion-hazard model. Hazard ratios (HRs) and corresponding 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated. Results: During a median 12.3-year follow up period, 15,537 (5.3%) deaths occurred. Compared with participants without cardiometabolic diseases, the HRs for all-cause mortality were 1.54 [95% confidence interval (CI): 1.30, 1.82] in participants with HTN + DM, 1.84 (95% CI: 1.59, 2.12) in those with HTN + CHD, 1.89 (95% CI: 1.46, 2.45) in those with HTN + ST, and 2.89 (95% CI: 2.28, 3.67) in those with HTN + DM + CHD. At the age of 45 years, non-current smoking was associated with an increase in life expectancy by 3.72, 6.95, 6.75, and 4.86 years for participants with HTN + DM, HTN + CHD, HTN + ST, and HTN + DM + CHD, respectively. A corresponding increase by 2.03, 1.95, 2.99, and 1.88 years, respectively, was observed in participants with regular physical activity. Non-/moderate alcohol consumption and adequate fruit/vegetable consumption were not significantly associated with life expectancy in patients with specific CMM patterns. Conclusion: Cardiometabolic multimorbidity was associated with an increased risk of mortality. Regular physical activity and non-current smoking can increase life expectancy in patients with specific CMM patterns.
