RESUMO
INTRODUCTION: This meta-analysis aimed to identify the effect of colchicine on myocardial infarction (MI) in patients with gout. METHODS: In February 2021, a systematic computer-based search was conducted in PubMed, EMBASE, and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews. Data on patients with gout that compared colchicine versus others (no use of colchicine) were retrieved. The endpoints were the incidence rate for MI. After testing for heterogeneity between studies, data were aggregated for fixed-effects models when necessary. RESULTS: Three clinical studies with 3012 patients (colchicine groupâ¯= 1523, control groupâ¯= 1489) were finally included in the meta-analysis. Colchicine was associated with a decreased risk for myocardial infarction (pooled odds ratio 0.35, 95% confidence interval 0.23-0.55, pâ¯< 0.00001). CONCLUSIONS: Colchicine was effective in reducing the incidence of MI in patients with gout.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the effect of AMD1 gene expression on prostate cancer cells (PC-3M), explore the mechanism of AMD1 action in cancer cells, and examine the regulation of AMD1 gene expression by methionine (MET). METHODS: Quantitative PCR (qPCR) and western blot analysis (WB) approaches were used to detect and measure gene expression. The cell apoptotic rate was determined by flow cytometric (FCM) analysis. RESULTS: qPCR and WB assays showed that both AMD1 gene expression and cell apoptotic rate were associated with MET. CONCLUSION: MET has a significant regulatory effect on the expression of the AMD1 gene and a certain amount of MET can promote the expression of the AMD1 gene. This provides a health guideline for a low-methionine diet for prostate cancer patients and scientific evidence for prostate cancer prevention.

Four new compounds (+)-jasminoids A, B, C, and D, together with seven known compounds, were isolated from the roots of Jasminum sambac. Their structures were identified using spectroscopic methods. This study provides a better understanding to the chemical composition of J. sambac roots that have been thought to be one ingredient of an ancient prescription 'Ma-Fei-San'.

Three new furan derivatives, brachystemols A-C (1-3), and 13 known compounds (4-15) were isolated from the EtOH extract of Brachystemma calycinum. Their structures were identified by means of spectroscopic methods. Compounds 4-13 were isolated from this plant for the first time.

Investigation of the N-BuOH extract of the roots of Rumex nepalensis afforded two new seco-anthraquinone glucosides, nepalensides A and B, along with nine known compounds, torachrysone ( 3), rumexoside, orientaloside, orcinol glucoside, aloesin, lyoniresinol 3 alpha- O- beta- D-glucopyranoside, (-)-epicatechin-3- O-gallate, (3,5-dimethoxy-4-hydroxyphenol)-1- O- beta- D-(6- O-galloyl) glucose, and (-)-epicatechin. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic methods. The possible formation of nepalensides A and B is briefly discussed.
