RESUMO
The effects of a synthetic analog of melatonin in doses of 10 and 50 mg/kg on the incidence of chromosome aberrations in bone marrow cells was studied in outbred rats exposed to single short-term γ-irradiation in doses of 2 and 4 Gy. Melatonin injected 30 min before the exposure 2-fold reduced the incidence of chromosome aberrations. Possible mechanisms of anticlastogenic effect of melatonin are discussed.

In experiments on mice it has been found that radioprotective effect of cystamin used in a doze 0.15 mg/kg reveals only at its dissolution in a physiological solution, and it is not found out at dissolution of a preparation in distilled water.

Low-frequency noise has been shown to cause certain functional changes in the organism of laboratory animals that manifest in changes of the state of the regulatory systems and metabolic disturbances at cellular and subcellular levels. The obtained data support the hypothesis of the mechanism of injurious effect of this physical factor including two basically correlated ways, i.e. the central mechanism associated with overexcitation of the hypotalamohypophysis-adrenal system and mediating the homeostatic parameters of the body, and the local one which is determined by a direct effect of low-frequency noise on highly organized structure of membraneous and genetic apparatus of cells.

In experiments with rats and dogs exposed to whole-body nonlethal and lethal gamma-radiation (2; 2,9 or 7.5 Gy) the radioprotective efficacy Vinca alkaloids drugs was investigated. It has been shown that enterally administered Vincanor (10 mg/kg over a three-day period) increased the radioresistance of animals. The prolonged radioprotective effect of Vincanor are discussed with regard to the phenomenon of sequential partial DNA synthesis inhibition in radiosensitive tissues.
