Objective: To review studies on digital medicine in cardiovascular diseases (CVD), discuss its development process, knowledge structure and research hotspots, and provide a perspective for researchers in this field. Methods: The relevant literature in recent 20 years (January 2004 to October 2022) were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). CiteSpace was used to demonstrate our knowledge of keywords, co-references and speculative frontiers. VOSviewer was used to chart the contributions of authors, institutions and countries and incorporates their link strength into the table. Results: A total of 5265 English articles in set timespan were included. The number of publications increased steadily annually. The United States (US) produced the highest number of publications, followed by England. Most publications were from Harvard Medicine School, followed by Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham Women's Hospital. The most authoritative academic journal was JMIR mHealth and uHealth. Noseworthy PA may have the highest influence in this intersected field with the highest number of citations and total link strength. The utilization of wearable mobile devices in the context of CVD, encompassing the identification of risk factors, diagnosis and prevention of diseases, as well as early intervention and remote management of diseases, has been widely acknowledged as a knowledge base and an area of current interest. To investigate the impact of various digital medicine interventions on chronic care and assess their clinical effectiveness, examine the potential of machine learning (ML) in delivering clinical care for atrial fibrillation (AF) and identifying early disease risk factors, as well as explore the development of disease prediction models using neural networks (NNs), ML and unsupervised learning in CVD prognosis, may emerge as future trends and areas of focus. Conclusion: Recently, there has been a significant surge of interest in the investigation of digital medicine in CVD. This initial bibliometric study offers a comprehensive analysis of the research landscape pertaining to digital medicine in CVD, thereby furnishing related scholars with a dependable reference to facilitate further progress in this domain.

BACKGROUND: As the complexity and diversity of the percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) are being explored and reported, burgeoning research has progressed in this field. However, there is no comprehensive analysis available on PCI-related studies published in the literature. This study aimed to analyze and visualize the changes of scientific output regarding prognosis of coronary heart disease (CHD) after PCI over the past 20 years and to reveal the knowledge domain and development trends in this field by using CiteSpace software. METHODS: Relevant articles published over the period 2004-2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. After manual selection, qualified documents were included and recorded with the information of their title, abstract, keyword, author, descriptor, citation, identifier, publishing year and publishing organization. We transferred the data to CiteSpace V5.8.R2 (Version 5.8.R2) to draw knowledge maps and to conduct co-occurrence analysis, cluster analysis, timeline analysis, burst term detection and citation analysis. RESULTS: A total of 14,699 literature records were found relating prognosis of CHD after PCI in the past 20 years (2004-2022), including 14,212 original articles and reviews, and they were published in 153 different journals. Publication production has increased annually and a total of 1182 authors, 796 institutes and 147 countries have contributed to these publications. Moreover, the most representative author was Gregg W Stone from the CardioVascular Research Foundation (CVRF) with 368 publications, whose team mainly focused on exploring the efficacy and safety of revascularization and the characteristics of susceptible population. The global productivity ranking was led by the USA with 3326 published papers, followed by Italy (n = 1355), Japan (n = 1080), China (n = 1075) and Germany (n = 937). And the keywords of these publications were "percutaneous coronary intervention" (n = 2271), "outcome" (n = 1756), "mortality" (n = 1730) and "impact" (n = 1334). Other commonly-used words were "predictor" (n = 1324), "intervention" (n = 1310), "angioplasty" (n = 1299), "risk" (n = 1144), "acute myocardial infarction" (n = 1136) and "artery disease" (n = 1098). Cluster analysis showed that 15 high connected clusters were generated with a modularity Q of 0.831 and a weighted mean silhouette of 0.9388 by applying the log-likelihood ratio algorithm, and the top 5 clusters were #0 optical coherence tomography, #1 dual antiplatelet therapy, #2 bleeding, #3 clopidogrel and #4 thrombus aspiration. Furthermore, the frontiers in the field of prognosis of CHD after PCI mainly involved "decision making", "reperfusion", "angioplasty", "balloon", "unstable angina", "dual antiplatelet therapy", "cardiac surgical score", "restenosis", "reperfusion", "thrombolytic therapy", etc. CONCLUSIONS: To sum up, efficacy and safety of different types of stents, the risk factors of restenosis and thrombotic events after PCI, early risk assessment, and secondary prevention and complications of patients with CHD after PCI were research hotspots and frontier topics in the area by bibliometric analysis. The results could provide a comprehensive overview of the research hotspots and frontier topics relating prognosis of CHD after PCI, promoting a better understanding of the knowledge domain and development trends in this field during the past 20 years.

INTRODUCTION: Many causes lead to sympathetic-vagus imbalance, which promotes the development of hypertension and accelerates the process of target organ damage. Many studies have shown that exercise training and heart rate variability (HRV) biofeedback can improve diseases caused by autonomic nerve dysfunction, such as hypertension. Based on these theories and the Yin-Yang balance theory of traditional Chinese medicine and Cannon's homeostasis theory, we have developed an assessment system of autonomic nerve regulation system and a harmony instrument. In this study, we aimed to find a new way to control blood pressure of hypertensive patients via cardiopulmonary resonance indices-based respiratory feedback training. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: This is a prospective, randomised, parallel-controlled clinical trial, which aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of biofeedback therapy and exercise rehabilitation combined intervention in hypertension management. 176 healthy individuals will be recruited to get their autonomic nerve function parameters as normal control, while 352 hypertensive patients will be enrolled and randomly divided into a conventional treatment group and an experiment group in a ratio of 1:1. All patients will continue to receive standard hypertension blood pressure treatment, except that patients in the experiment group will have to complete additional daily respiratory training for 6 months. The primary outcome is the difference of clinical systolic blood pressure (SBP) between the two groups after 6 months of intervention. The secondary outcomes include the changes in the mean SBP and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) by 24-hour blood pressure monitoring, home SBP, clinical and home DBP, clinical and home heart rate, the standard-reaching rate of clinic and home SBP and the incidence of composite endpoint events at 6 months. ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: This study has been approved by the clinical research ethics committee of China-Japan Friendship Hospital (No. 2018-132 K98-2), the results of this study will be disseminated via peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations. TRIAL REGISTRATION NUMBER: Chinese Clinical Trial Registry, ChiCTR1800019457, registered on 12 August 2018.

Nitrogen fertilization is one of the most important cultivation practices that affects the eating quality of rice. During the cooking process, nitrogen fertilizer application in the field changed the structure of protein and starch during cooking, which eventually reduced the rice eating quality. However, the morphology and structure of rice during cooking under high nitrogen fertilizer application in the field have not been explored. The relationship between the morphological and structural changes of rice protein and starch during cooking and the rice eating quality has not been studied. In this study, we conducted field trials at two nitrogen fertilizer levels (0 N and 350 N), and the rice was cooked after harvest. Our results showed that the peak viscosity of rice flour was 3326 cp and 2453 cp at 0 N and 350 N, respectively, and the peak viscosity of rice starch was 3424 cp and 3378 cp, respectively. Rice proteins played an important role in the starch gelatinization properties and thermodynamic properties. High nitrogen fertilizer application increased the protein content of rice from 5.97 % to 11.32 %, and more protein bodies adhered to the surface of amyloplasts eventually inhibiting starch gelatinization. The rice proteins could bind to amylose-lipid complexes during cooking, promoting the formation of V-type diffraction peaks. What is more, under high nitrogen fertilizer, rice protein had more ß-sheets, which slowed the entry of water into the interior of starch molecules and prevented the destruction of the short-range ordered structure of starch. Our study provides the possibility to further improve the eating quality of rice under nitrogen fertilizer treatment.

BACKGROUND: Improving rice quality is one of the main goals of global rice breeding programs, and rice protein content is one of the most important factors affecting rice eating quality. The protein content of rice is mainly determined by genetic factors and also affected by environmental factors. However, the differences and regional distribution of protein content during the evolution of different rice varieties are still unclear. RESULTS: The purpose of this study was to understand the differences in grain protein content of 706 rice accessions in different regions and different rice subtypes. The influencing factors of grain protein content differences were analyzed from the perspectives of genetic characteristics, environment, rice subtypes, and breeding process. The results showed that the grain protein content of indica rice in most countries and regions was higher than that of japonica rice. From the perspective of the rice breeding process, the protein content of modern varieties in japonica was lower than that of landrace varieties. In most countries, modern varieties of indica rice had higher protein content than landrace varieties did. CONCLUSION: The environment and genetic characteristics caused the change in the protein content of rice. This study has improved our understanding of the differences in protein content of rice from different rice varieties. © 2022 Society of Chemical Industry.

BACKGROUND: Takotsubo cardiomyopathy (TS) is a rare acute cardiac disease with clinical features, symptoms, and electrocardiographic manifestations similar to those of acute myocardial infarction. We present the case of a patient with TS caused by a pheochromocytoma, which was confirmed by the postoperative pathology. Furthermore, we present the patient's subsequent management, treatment, and outcome. CASE SUMMARY: A 64-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital with episodic chest pain and palpitations, electrocardiogram (ECG) findings suggestive of high lateral wall myocardial infarction, echocardiogram showing left ventricular wall segmental motion abnormalities, and elevated levels of the myocardial marker troponin. The patient underwent coronary angiography, which revealed unobstructed blood flow without obvious stenosis. During their hospitalization, the patient had paroxysmal elevation of blood pressure accompanied by palpitations and profuse sweating, with elevated blood catecholamine levels during seizures. Subsequent computerized tomography of the adrenal glands revealed the presence of a nodule in the right adrenal, which was resected and determined to be an adrenal pheochromocytoma. Therefore, the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma-induced atypical TS was made. The patient had an uneventful postoperative recovery. CONCLUSION: Cardiologists should consider pheochromocytoma in patients with TS. Early detection allows timely intervention, benefiting patients.

Objective: To explore the effect of integrative Chinese and Western medicine therapy on the clinical outcomes of patients with heart failure. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study in the real world. Patients were divided into "conventional therapy" and "integrative therapy" groups according to treatment modality. The occurrence of cardiovascular events (CVE) was determined during follow-up. Survival curves were plotted, and survival analysis was performed using Cox regression to report survival in both groups. Further subgroup tests were performed as sensitivity analyses. A Markov model was constructed to predict patients with distant heart failure conditions based on real follow-up data. Results: Based on diagnostic criteria, 394 patients with heart failure were included. The integrative therapy group had (N = 181) older patients (P=0.005), higher proportion of renal insufficiency (P < 0.001), higher creatinine (P=0.040), hypersensitive C-reactive protein (P=0.007), N-terminal pro-B type natriuretic peptide (P=0.019) levels, more patients in cardiac function class IV (P=0.004), and longer hospital days (P=0.003) than the conventional therapy group (N = 213). Survival was better in the integrative therapy group than in the conventional therapy group (log-rank P < 0.001). Multifactorial Cox regression identified "conventional therapy" or "integrative therapy" as an independent factor affecting the risk of CVE in patients with heart failure, with the risk of CVE being lower in the integrative therapy group (HR = 0.322, 95% CI = 0.185-0.561). A subgroup analysis found no significant association between therapy modality and risk of CVE in older patients (age ≥65 years, P=0.210) and those who had renal insufficiency (P=0.062). The Markov model predicted better cardiac function in the integrative therapy group than in the conventional therapy group at all time points (all P < 0.001). Conclusion: In patients with heart failure, integrative therapy of Chinese and Western medicine had better long-term outcomes than conventional therapy. However, patients with advanced age and renal insufficiency had no significant advantage. Trials Registration. Cr(VI) is one of the most common environmental pollutants. The non-biodegradable Cr(VI) in aqueous solution accumulates along the food chain and damages the health of plant, animal, and human. In this study, solid-state fermentation technology was used to treat Caulis lonicerae residue to improve its adsorption capacity for Cr(VI). Caulis lonicerae can be used to extract the active ingredients such as organic acids, flavonoids, and triterpenoid saponins that have various effects including anti-oxidation and immune boosting. However, there is no proper treatment for large amount of residue left after extraction. The Phanerochaete chrysosporium was inoculated into the residue for solid-state fermentation, and the adsorption capacity of C. lonicerae residue before (CLr) and after fermentation (FCLr) regarding Cr(VI) adsorption was compared. In the range of 40-120 mg/L Cr(VI), the adsorption capacity of FCLr was significantly higher than that of CLr. The scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results exhibited a rougher surface of FCLr. The Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) results revealed that the structure of FCLr was affected by the combination of Cr(VI), and the multiple functional groups interacted with Cr(VI) (such as -OH, C-H, C = O, C-O-C, and C-O). The adsorption capacity could reach 48.91 mg/g and the Cr(VI) removal percentage may reach 98.07% for FCLr increased by 28.24% through fermentation.
