RESUMO

Cardiovascular diseases have become the leading cause of death in urban and rural areas. Myocardial fibrosis is a common pathological manifestation at the adaptive and repair stage of cardiovascular diseases, easily predisposing to cardiac death. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), RNA molecules with no coding potential, can regulate gene expression in the occurrence and development of myocardial fibrosis. Recent studies have suggested that Chinese herbal medicine can relieve myocardial fibrosis through targeting various ncRNAs, mainly including microRNAs (miRNAs), long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), and circular RNAs (circRNAs). Thus, ncRNAs are novel drug targets for Chinese herbal medicine. Herein, we summarized the current understanding of ncRNAs in the pathogenesis of myocardial fibrosis, and highlighted the contribution of ncRNAs to the therapeutic effect of Chinese herbal medicine on myocardial fibrosis. Further, we discussed the future directions regarding the potential applications of ncRNA-based drug screening platform to screen drugs for myocardial fibrosis.

Label-free probing of the material composition of (bio)nano-objects directly in solution at the single-particle level is crucial in various fields, including colloid analysis and medical diagnostics. However, it remains challenging to decipher the constituents of heterogeneous mixtures of nano-objects with high sensitivity and resolution. Here, we present deep-learning plasmonic scattering interferometric microscopy, which is capable of identifying the composition of nanoparticles automatically with high throughput at the single-particle level. By employing deep learning to decode the quantitative relationship between the interferometric scattering patterns of nanoparticles and their intrinsic material properties, this technique is capable of high-throughput, label-free identification of diverse nanoparticle types. We demonstrate its versatility in analyzing dynamic surface chemical reactions on single nanoparticles, revealing its potential as a universal platform for nanoparticle imaging and reaction analysis. This technique not only streamlines the process of nanoparticle characterization, but also proposes a methodology for a deeper understanding of nanoscale dynamics, holding great potential for addressing extensive fundamental questions in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) infection cause multi-systemic inflammation in pigs. Platycodon grandiflorus polysaccharide (PGPSt) has been reported to have the effects of immune regulation and disease resistance. Nevertheless, the role and mechanism of PGPSt in the inflammatory response of 3D4/21 cells induced by PCV2 infection remain unclear. The present study aims to investigate effects of PGPSt on inflammatory response and its possible underlying mechanisms in vitro models. Cells were treated with PCV2 for 36 h to construct a cell inflammation model. The 3D4/21 cell lines were pretreated with or without PGPSt, and the changes of inflammation-related markers and the signaling pathway were detected by CCK-8, ELISA, qPCR and Western blot. The results showed that PGPSt was non-toxic to cells and protected PCV2-infected cells from inflammatory damage. PGPSt could significantly inhibit the high acetylation of histone H3 (AcH3) and histone H4 (AcH4), down-regulate HAT and up-regulate HDAC activity, and reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory enzymes iNOS and COX-2 proteins levels. Then the levels of IL-1ß, IL-6 and TNF-α were significantly inhibited, and the level of IL-10 was promoted. We also observed that PGPSt inhibited the phosphorylation of p65, p38 and Erk1/2, which subsequently inhibited nuclear translocation of NF-κB p65 to express pro-inflammatory factors. In conclusion, PGPSt can reduce the inflammatory response by regulating histone acetylation, reducing the release of inflammatory factors, reducing the expression of pro-inflammatory enzymes, and inhibiting the activation of NF-κB and MAPKs signaling pathways. This suggests that PGPSt had an anti-inflammatory effect on the inflammatory response caused by PCV2 infection, which provided theoretical data support for the research.

Tellurium (Te)-doped black silicon (Si) with enhanced absorption and photoelectric performance over a broad wavelength range of 0.2-2.5 µm was obtained using femtosecond (fs) laser irradiation in liquid water. Prior to laser irradiation, the Si sample was covered with a Te thin film (thickness 200 nm) over an adhesion layer of Cr (thickness 5 nm). Surface analyses by scanning electron microscopy and three-dimensional confocal microscopy evidence the presence of hierarchical surface structures combining quasi-periodic stripes with a spatial period of about 5 µm and subwavelength laser-induced periodic surface structures directed in directions parallel and perpendicular to the direction of the laser polarization, respectively. Moreover, the incorporation of Te generates intermediate levels within the Si bandgap. The Te-doped black Si shows a significant enhancement of the absorption, which reaches values of about 48% in the UV and visible (0.2-1.1 µm) and 70% in the near-infrared (1.1-2.5 µm) spectral ranges, respectively, due to the synergistic effects of multiscale surface structures and Te incorporation. Moreover, the surface reflectance is reduced to almost zero across the entire spectrum. The Te-doped black Si sample is used to realize a photodetector which displays an impressive photoelectric capability, being characterized by a responsivity of 328 mA/W, and an external quantum efficiency of 49.27% at a voltage bias of -10 V for 1064 nm light illumination, with rising and falling times of 55 and 67 ms, respectively. These figures remarkably outperform the response of unprocessed Si under the same experimental conditions.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most prevalent chronic hepatic disorder on a global scale. Atherosclerosis (AS), a leading cause of cardiovascular diseases, stands as the primary contributor to mortality among patients diagnosed with NAFLD. However, the precise etiology by which NAFLD causes AS remains unclear. Exosomes are nanoscale extracellular vesicles secreted by cells, and are considered to participate in complex biological processes by promoting cell-to-cell and organ-to-organ communications. As vesicles containing protein, mRNA, non-coding RNA and other bioactive molecules, exosomes can participate in the development of NAFLD and AS respectively. Recently, studies have shown that NAFLD can also promote the development of AS via secreting exosomes. Herein, we summarized the recent advantages of exosomes in the pathogenesis of NAFLD and AS, and highlighted the role of exosomes in mediating the information exchange between NAFLD and AS. Further, we discussed how exosomes play a prominent role in enabling information exchange among diverse organs, delving into a novel avenue for investigating the link between diseases and their associated complications. The future directions and emerging challenges are also listed regarding the exosome-based therapeutic strategies for AS under NAFLD conditions.

BACKGROUND: Porcine infection with Porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) causes immunosuppression, which is easy to cause concurrent or secondary infection, making the disease complicated and difficult to treat, and causing huge economic losses to the pig industry. Total polysaccharide from the rhizoma of Atractylodes macrocephala Koidz. (PAMK) is outstanding in enhancing non-specific immunity and cellular immunity, and effectively improving the body's disease resistance, indicating its potential role in antiviral immunotherapy. RESULTS: PAMK had the characteristics of compact, polyporous and agglomerated morphology, but does not have triple helix conformation. PCV2 infection led to the increase in LC3-II, degradation of p62 and the increase of viral Cap protein expression and viral copy number. PAMK treatment significantly alleviated PCV2-induced autophagy and inhibited PCV2 replication. Moreover, PAMK treatment significantly attenuated the increase of PINK1 protein expression and the decrease of TOMM20 protein expression caused by PCV2 infection, alleviated Parkin recruitment from cytoplasm to mitochondria and intracellular reactive oxygen species accumulation, restored mitochondrial membrane charge, alleviated viral Cap protein expression. CONCLUSION: PAMK alleviates PCV2-induced mitophagy to suppress PCV2 replication by inhibiting the Pink 1/Parkin pathway. These findings may provide new insights into the prevention and treatment of PCV2. © 2023 Society of Chemical Industry.

The secondary metabolites of marine fungi with rich chemical diversity and biological activity are an important and exciting target for natural product research. This study aimed to investigate the fungal community in Quanzhou Bay, Fujian, and identified 28 strains of marine fungi. A total of 28 strains of marine fungi were screened for small-scale fermentation by the OSMAC (One Strain-Many Compounds) strategy, and 77 EtOAc crude extracts were obtained and assayed for cancer cell inhibition rate. A total of six strains of marine fungi (P-WZ-2, P-WZ-3-2, P-WZ-4, P-WZ-5, P56, and P341) with significant changes in cancer cell inhibition induced by the OSMAC strategy were analysed by UPLC-QTOF-MS. The ACD/MS Structure ID Suite software was used to predict the possible structures with inhibitory effects on cancer cells. A total of 23 compounds were identified, of which 10 compounds have been reported to have potential anticancer activity or cytotoxicity. In this study, the OSMAC strategy was combined with an untargeted metabolomics approach based on UPLC-QTOF-MS to efficiently analyse the effect of changes in culture conditions on anticancer potentials and to rapidly find active substances that inhibit cancer cell growth.

Atherosclerosis is the leading cause of numerous cardiovascular diseases with a high mortality rate. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), RNA molecules that do not encode proteins in human genome transcripts, are known to play crucial roles in various physiological and pathological processes. Recently, researches on the regulation of atherosclerosis by ncRNAs, mainly including microRNAs, long non-coding RNAs, and circular RNAs, have gradually become a hot topic. Traditional Chinese medicine has been proved to be effective in treating cardiovascular diseases in China for a long time, and its active monomers have been found to target a variety of atherosclerosis-related ncRNAs. These active monomers of traditional Chinese medicine hold great potential as drugs for the treatment of atherosclerosis. Here, we summarized current advancement of the molecular pathways by which ncRNAs regulate atherosclerosis and mainly highlighted the mechanisms of traditional Chinese medicine monomers in regulating atherosclerosis through targeting ncRNAs.

Objective: This study investigates the effect of the Pain Sensitivity Questionnaire (PSQ) in guiding patient controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) on postoperative analgesia in women undergoing cesarean section. Methods: A total of 160 women who were to undergo a cesarean section under combined spinal and epidural anaesthesia were included in this study. Women with a preoperative PSQ <4 were randomly divided into a low pain-sensitive control group (LC group), and a low pain-sensitive observation group (LO group), and women with preoperative PSQ >6 were randomly divided into a high pain-sensitive control group (HC group) and a high pain-sensitive observation group (HO group). After the surgery, patients received the pump butorphanol concentration was 3.5 µg·kg-1·h-1 in the LC and HC groups, 3.0 µg·kg-1·h-1 in the LO group and 4.0 µg·kg-1·h-1 in the HO group.To compare the analgesic effects of postoperative PCIA and postoperative recovery in women. Results: Wound pain and uterine contraction pain VAS scores at rest and activity were significantly lower in the LC group than in the LO group at 4 and 8 h postoperatively (P<0.05). Similarly, wound pain and uterine contraction pain VAS scores at rest and activity were significantly lower in the HO group than in the HC group at 8, 12, and 24 h postoperatively (P<0.05). The Ramsay scores were significantly higher in the LC than in the LO groups at 4, 8, 12, 24, and 48 h postoperatively (P<0.05), but there was no statistically significant difference between the Ramsay scores in the HC group and the HO group. There was no statistical difference in any of the post-operative recoveries (P>0.05). Conclusion: Compared to the weight-based postoperative PCIA, the PSQ-based postoperative PCIA has better analgesic effects and can improve maternal satisfaction with postoperative analgesia.

Fe(VI) is a versatile agent for water purification, and various strategies have been developed to improve its pollutant removal efficiency. Herein, it was found that in addition to intermediate iron species [Fe(IV)/Fe(V)], direct electron transfer (DET) played a significant role in the abatement of organic pollutants in Fe(VI)/carbon quantum dots (CQDs) system. Around 86, 83, 73, 64, 52, 45 and 17% of BPA, DCF, SMX, 4-CP, phenol, p-HBA, and IBP (6 µM) could be oxidized by 30 µM of Fe(VI), whereas with the addition of CQDs (4 mg/L), the oxidation ratio of these pollutants increased to 98, 99, 80, 88, 87, 66 and 57%, respectively. The negative impact induced by solution pH and background constituents on Fe(VI) abatement of pollutants could be alleviated by CQDs, and CQDs acted as catalysts for mediating DET from organic pollutants to Fe(VI). Theoretical calculation revealed that iron species [Fe(VI)/Fe(V)/Fe(IV)] was responsible for the oxidation of 36% of phenol, while DET contributed to the oxidation of 64% of phenol in the Fe(VI)/CQDs system. Compared with iron species oxidation, the CQDs mediated DET from pollutants to Fe(VI) was more efficient for utilizing the oxidation capacity of Fe(VI). The DET mechanism presented in the study provides a prospective strategy for improving the pollution control potential of Fe(VI).

BACKGROUND: Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) and Dengue virus (DENV) have similar clinical symptoms, which often induce misdiagnoses. Therefore, an antigen detection diagnostic system that can clearly identify these two viruses is desirable. METHODS: In this study, we developed a novel peptide with high affinity and specificity to CHIKV, and further constructed peptide aptamer-based TRFIA assay to efficiently detect CHIKV. Peptide aptamer B2 (ITPQSSTTEAEL) and B3 (DTQGSNWI) were obtained through computer-aided design and selected as CHIKV-specific peptide aptamers based on their high binding affinity, strong hydrogen bonding, and RMSD of molecular docking. Then, a sandwich-Time-Resolved Fluoroimmunoassay (TRFIA) was successfully constructed for the detection of the interaction between peptide aptamers and viruses. RESULTS: When using B2 as the detection element, highly specific detection of CHIKV E2 was achieved with detection limits of 8.5 ng/ml in PBS solution. Variation coefficient between inter-assay showed the disturbances received from the detection of clinical fluid specimens (including serum and urine), were also within acceptable limits. The detection limits for 10-fold dilution serum and urine were 57.8 ng/mL and 147.3 ng/mL, respectively. The fluorescent signal intensity exhibited a good linear correlation with E2 protein concentration in the range of 0-1000 ng/mL, indicating the potential for quantitative detection of E2 protein. CONCLUSIONS: These results demonstrate that the construction of peptide aptamers with high affinity and specificity provides an excellent method for rapid diagnostic element screening, and the developed peptide aptamer B2 contributed to better detection of CHIKV viral particles compared to traditional antibodies.

Direct visualization of surface chemical dynamics in solution is essential for understanding the mechanisms involved in nanocatalysis and electrochemistry; however, it is challenging to achieve high spatial and temporal resolution. Here, we present an azimuth-modulated plasmonic imaging technique capable of imaging dynamic interfacial changes. The method avoids strong interference from reflected light and consequently eliminates the parabolic-like interferometric patterns in the images, allowing for a 67-fold increase in the spatial resolution of plasmonic imaging. We demonstrate that this optical imaging approach enables comprehensive analyses of surface chemical dynamics and identification of previously unknown surface reaction heterogeneity by investigating electrochemical redox reactions over single silver nanowires as an example. This work provides a general strategy for high-resolution plasmonic imaging of surface electrochemical dynamics and other interfacial chemical reactions, complementing existing surface characterization methods.

With the improvement of economic level and the development of science and technology, the problem of water pollution needs to be solved now. Various water pollutants have a negative impact on nature and restrict its development. In recent years, photocatalysis is considered to be a promising wastewater treatment method. Two-dimensional carbon materials have become the hotspot of photocatalytic degradation of pollutants because of their excellent conductivity, large specific surface area, and good hydrophilicity. Nevertheless, it is very hard for these photocatalysts based on carbon materials to separate and recover from the system. For solving such a problem, the composition with magnetic components is an effective way which can facilitate separation and keep the catalytic activity of the samples. In this review, the main roles of magnetic carbon-based composites in the field of pollutant degradation are introduced, and their synthesis technology, classification, and application are summarized. In the end, the current challenges and prospects in this field are involved, aiming to provide useful insights and enlightments into the fields of pollutant treatment and photocatalytic degradation.

Manganese ion [Mn(II)] is a background constituent existing in natural waters. Herein, it was found that only 59% of bisphenol A (BPA), 47% of bisphenol F (BPF), 65% of acetaminophen (AAP), and 49% of 4-tert-butylphenol (4-tBP) were oxidized by 20 µM of Fe(VI), while 97% of BPA, 95% of BPF, 96% of AAP, and 94% of 4-tBP could be oxidized by the Fe(VI)/Mn(II) system [20 µM Fe(VI)/20 µM Mn(II)] at pH 7.0. Further investigations showed that bisphenol S (BPS) was highly reactive with reactive iron species (RFeS) but was sluggish with reactive manganese species (RMnS). By using BPS and methyl phenyl sulfoxide (PMSO) as the probe compounds, it was found that reactive iron species contributed primarily for BPA oxidation at low Mn(II)/Fe(VI) molar ratios (below 0.1), while reactive manganese species [Mn(VII)/Mn(III)] contributed increasingly for BPA oxidation with the elevation of the Mn(II)/Fe(VI) molar ratio (from 0.1 to 3.0). In the interaction of Mn(II) and Fe(VI), the transfer of oxidation capacity from Fe(VI) to Mn(III), including the formation of Mn(VII) and the inhibition of Fe(VI) self-decay, improved the amount of electron equivalents per Fe(VI) for BPA oxidation. UV-vis spectra and dominant transformation product analysis further revealed the evolution of iron and manganese species at different Mn(II)/Fe(VI) molar ratios.

The magnetic polymer microsphere is a promising adsorbent due to its high adsorption efficiency and good regeneration ability from wastewater. Cassava starch magnetic porous microspheres (AAM-MSMPMs) were synthesized by graft copolymerization in inverse emulsion. Mechanically activated cassava starch (MS) was used to graft skeletons, vinyl monomers [acrylic acid (AA) and acrylamide (AM)] as copolymerized unsaturated monomers, methyl methacrylate (MMA) as the dispersing agent, and polyethylene glycol/methanol (PEG2000/MeOH) as the porogen. It was found that the AAM-MSMPM adsorbent is superparamagnetic, the saturation magnetization is 14.9 emu·g-1, and it can be rapidly and directionally separated from Cd(II) ions in aqueous solution. The FTIR indicated that the carboxyl and hydroxyl groups were grafted into MS. The AAM-MSMPM had good speroidization and a uniform size. After the porogen was added, the particle size of the AAM-MSMPM decreased from 19.00 to 7.00 nm, and the specific surface area increased from 7.00 to 35.00 m2·g-1. The pore volume increased from 0.03 to 0.13 cm3·g-1. The AAM-MSMPM exhibited a large specific surface area and provided more adsorption active sites for Cd(II) ions. The maximum adsorption capacity of the AAM-MSMPM for Cd(II) ions was 210.68 mg·g-1, i.e., 81.02% higher than that without porogen. Additionally, the Cd(II) ion adsorption process on the AAM-MSMPM can be described by Langmuir isothermal and pseudo-second-order kinetic models. A chemical reaction dominated the Cd(II) ion adsorption process on the AAM-MSMPM, and chemisorption was the rate-controlling step during the Cd(II) ion adsorption process. The AAM-MSMPM still had excellent stability after five consecutive reuses.

Resolvin D1 (RvD1) suppresses inflammatory, postoperative, and neuropathic pain. The present study assessed the roles and mechanisms of RvD1 in mechanical allodynia after burn injury. A rat model of burn injury was established for analyses, and RvD1 was injected intraperitoneally. Pain behavior and the expression levels of spinal dorsal horn Iba-1 (microglia marker), GFAP (astrocyte marker), p-p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK), brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), and tropomyosin-related kinase B (TrkB) were detected by behavioral and immunocytochemical assays. The results showed that RvD1 attenuated mechanical allodynia after burn injury, prevented microglial and astroglial activation, and downregulated p-p38 MAPK in microglia and BDNF/TrkB following burn injury. Similarly, inhibition of p38 MAPK and BDNF/TrkB signaling attenuated mechanical allodynia after burn injury. In addition, inhibition of p38 MAPK prevented spinal microglial activation and downregulated BDNF/TrkB following burn injury. Furthermore, inhibition of BDNF/TrkB signaling prevented spinal microglial activation and downregulated p-p38 MAPK within spinal microglia. Taken together, this study demonstrated that RvD1 might attenuate mechanical allodynia after burn injury by inhibiting spinal cord glial activation, microglial p38 MAPK, and BDNF/TrkB signaling in the spinal dorsal horn.

Fish sex determination can be affected by environmental temperature. This process relies on temperature-sensitive proteins such as heat shock proteins (HSPs). Our previous work found that heat shock cognate proteins (HSCs) may participate in high-temperature associated sex reversal of Chinese tongue sole (Cynoglossus semilaevis). However, the role of hsc genes in responding to high temperature and affecting sex determination/differentiation remains unclear. Here, by using C. semilaevis as model, we identified hsc70 and hsc70-like. hsc70 was abundant in the gonads with a testicular-higher expression at all gonadal development stages except for 6 months post fertilization (mpf). Intriguingly, hsc70-like showed higher expression in testes from 6 mpf on. Both long-term heat treatment during the temperature-sensitive sex-determining period and short-term heat stress at the end of this period caused different expression of hsc70/hsc70-like between sexes. The dual-luciferase assay results also suggested that these genes can respond to high temperature rapidly in vitro. Heat treatment of C. semilaevis testis cells overexpressed with hsc70/hsc70-like could affect the expression of sex-related genes sox9a and cyp19a1a. Our results indicated that hsc70 and hsc70-like were key regulators linking external high-temperature signals with sex differentiation in vivo and provide a new idea for understanding the mechanism by which high temperature affects sex determination/differentiation in teleosts.

This study aimed to evaluate the immune effects of compound astragalus polysaccharide and sulfated epimedium polysaccharide (APS-sEPS) on the peripheral blood lymphocyte and intestinal mucosa in newborn piglets. A total of 40 newborn piglets were randomly divided into four groups during a 25-day experiment, including APS-sEPS, APS, sEPS and control group. The results showed that supplementation with APS-sEPS to newborn piglets remarkably increased the physiological parameters, especially the WBC. In peripheral blood, piglets that received APS-sEPS showed the highest proliferation of T lymphocytes, the percentage of CD3 + CD4+ and CD3 + CD8+ cells were the highest on days 15 and 25 (p < 0.05). The serum concentrations of IFN-γ on days 7 and 15, and IL-4, IL-10, sIgA on days 7, 15 and 25 in APS-sEPS group were significantly higher than those in the control group (p < 0.05). Furthermore, the villus length and the ratio of villus length to crypt depth in APS-sEPS group were both significantly increased compared to that of control group (p < 0.05). In the duodenum, jejunum and illume, the concentrations of IFN-γ, IL-10, total IgG and sIgA in APS-sEPS group were all significantly higher than that in control group (p < 0.05). In intestinal mucosa, APS-sEPS significantly increased the expression of NF-κB and IRF-3 mRNA in each section of small intestine of piglets. Nevertheless, in the illume segment, the effect of APS-sEPS was more significant than that of APS and sEPS (p < 0.05). The expression of TLR4 was more significant than that of control group in duodenum only. The results from the present research provide evidence that the suckling piglets administered with APS-sEPS supplement exhibited enhanced immune function of peripheral blood lymphocyte and expression of specific antibodies, and ameliorated intestinal morphological development and increased activities of humoral immune response in the small intestine, which would be related to the activation of the TLR4-NF-κB signaling pathway and IRF3.

Studying the localized electrocatalytic activity of heterogeneous electrocatalysts is crucial for understanding electrocatalytic reactions and further improving their performance. However, correlating the electrocatalytic activity with the microscopic structure of two-dimensional (2D) electrocatalysts remains a great challenge due to the lack of in situ imaging techniques and methods of tuning structures with atomic precision. Here, we present a general method of probing the layer-dependent electrocatalytic activity of 2D materials in situ using a plasmonic imaging technique. Unlike the existing methods, this approach was used to visualize the surface charge density and electrocatalytic activity of single 2D MoS2 nanosheets, enabling the correlation of layer-dependent electrocatalytic activity with the surface charge density of single MoS2 nanosheets. This work provides insights into the electrocatalytic mechanisms of 2D transition metal dichalcogenides, and our approach can serve as a promising platform for investigating electrocatalytic reactions at the heterogeneous interface, thus guiding the rational design of high-performance electrocatalysts.

This paper aims to analyze the influence of national music activities on the long-term care for and happiness of elderly people in the current aging society. Under the popular square dance movement of the whole society, a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the differences in the silver-haired body self-esteem and the happiness of the silver-haired exercisers with different exercise methods. Forty first-time square dance participants were selected as experimental objects, and they were divided into an experimental group (ethnic music square dance) and a control group (ordinary music square dance), with 20 people in each group. The results showed that the effective recovery rate of the questionnaire was 95.10% (136/150). There were 47, 45, and 44 people in the square dance, other sports, and non-sport groups, respectively. The total scores of physical self-esteem, physical self-worth, physical quality, health worry, satisfaction and interest in life, control of emotion and behavior, and happiness of silver-haired people who participated in square dance activities were higher than those of other sports players (p < 0.05). The total scores of physical self-esteem, exercise ability, physical condition, and physical quality scores were significantly higher than those of non-sports people (p < 0.01), and each factor and total score on the happiness were higher than those of non-sports people (p < 0.05). The body weight, waist circumference, hip circumference, and thigh circumference of the experimental group after exercise were significantly different from those before exercise (p < 0.01), and the factors of the body self-esteem scale and well-being scale were higher than those before the experiment (p < 0.05). This shows that music has a positive effect on the long-term care for and happiness improvement of the silver-haired family, which can improve the physical and mental health of the silver-haired family and further improve the quality of life of the silver-haired family in their later years. This offers a theoretical basis for the development of the elderly folk music square dance movement in the future and provides a reference for the formulation of silver-haired patriarchal photos and happiness intervention programs.
