RESUMO

This study evaluated dry and wet deposition of atmospheric heavy metals (HMs) in a sandy area of Inner Mongolia, China, with the Dahekou Reservoir, Xilin Gol League, adopted as the study area. Monthly monitoring of atmospheric HM dry and wet deposition was conducted over one year (2021 to 2022) at 12 monitoring points, producing 144 dry and wet deposition samples, respectively. The sample contents of eight HMs (Cr, Ni, Pb, Cu, Zn, Mn, As, and Cd) were determined to estimate the fluxes of available forms of heavy metal (AHM) in dry and wet deposition. The potential ecological index (Eri), risk assessment coding (RAC), and ratio of secondary phase to primary phase (RSP) were used to evaluate the impact of atmospheric HM dry deposition on ecological security. Correlation analysis, principal component analysis, and the absolute principal component scores-multiple linear regression (APCS-MLR) receptor model were used to quantitatively analyze the sources of AHMs in atmospheric dry and wet deposition. The results showed that the study area experienced annual dry and wet deposition fluxes of AHMs of 1712.59 kg and 534.97 kg, respectively. Atmospheric heavy metal dry deposition over the entire year presented a strong ecological risk, with Cd contributing most to this risk. Risk assessment of HM speciation showed that the greatest risks of migration and transformation were for Cd and Pb. The APCS-MLR receptor model identified five and three sources of dry and wet deposition, respectively, in order of proportion of total contribution of: natural wind and sand > road traffic and coal combustion > mineral mining > other human activities > industrial soot.

A closed-cycle system for light-harvesting, storage, and heat release is important for utilizing and managing renewable energy. However, combining a high-energy, stable photochromic material with a controllable trigger for solid-state heat release remains a great challenge for developing photothermal fuels (PTFs). This paper presents a uniform PTF film fabricated by the assembly of close-packed bisazobenzene (bisAzo) grafted onto reduced graphene oxide (rGO). The assembled rGO-bisAzo template exhibited a high energy density of 131 Wh kg-1 and a long half-life of 37 days owing to inter- or intramolecular H-bonding and steric hindrance. The rGO-bisAzo PTF film released and accumulated heat to realize a maximum temperature difference (DT) of 15 °C and a DT of over 10 °C for 30 min when the temperature difference of the environment was greater than100 °C. Controlling heat release in the solid-state assembly paves the way to develop highly efficient and high-energy PTFs for a multitude of applications.

OBJECTIVE: To understand the epidemiologic characteristics of endemic typhus in Baoshan city. METHODS: Epidemiological data were collected and characteristics were analyzed. IgG antibody (Ab) of Rickettsia mooseri and Orientia tsutsugamushi in serum of patients were tested using both Weil-Felix and IFA method. The Rickettsia mooseri gltA gene, Rickettsia prowazekii gltA gene, Orientia tsutsugamushi 56 kDa protein gene, SFGR ompA gene, Ehrlichia sp. 16S rRNA gene and Anaplasma sp. 16S rRNA gene in spleen of mice were examined by PCR. RESULTS: Fifty-eight endemic typhus cases were found in Longyang district of Baoshan city, during July to August, 2009. Among them, 48 cases were confirmed by clinical diagnosis and 10 cases by laboratory tests. The Ab of Orientia tsutsugamushi Karp serotype was detected in 3 cases from laboratory diagnosis. The spleen samples from 85 Rattus flavipectus were tested using PCR. Of them, 3 samples for Rickettsia mooseri gltA gene showed positive (positive rate was 3.5%), and the homology of 3 Rickettsia mooseri and Rickettsia mooseri Wilmington strain (GenBank U59714.1) was 100% through comparing gene sequence. The results of PCR for detecting Rickettsia prowazekii, Orientia tsutsugamushi, SFGR, Anaplasma sp. and Ehrlichia. sp were all negative. CONCLUSION: The outbreak of endemic typhus was confirmed in Longyang district of Baoshan city through epidemiological data, clinical diagnosis and laboratory tests. Rickettsia mooseri DNA was detected in the dominant Rattus flavipectus, suggesting that endemic typhus did exist in the local areas.
