RESUMO

Changes in the liver where Opisthorchis felines (Rivolta, 1884) parasitizes were traced by light and transmission electron microscopies on experimental models (gold hamsters) of acute and chronic opisthorchiasis. Regenerative processes, such as hepatic epithelial mitotic indices, binucleated, hypertrophic hepatocytes, were determined; the composition of infiltrates was identified; fibroplastic changes and hepatocytic apoptotic index were traced. The progression/regression (P/R) ratio was used to detect atrophy of a hepatic parenchymatous component (hepatocytes) in different periods (from 3 to 120 days) of invasion. In opisthorchiasis, proliferation of committed hepatocytes was first found on day 10 of invasion. Oval (committed) cells are differentiated mainly to cholangiocytes, followed by the formation of ductular structures; the committed cells of the liver may be simultaneously a source of programmed hepatocellular differentiation; however, the newly formed hepatocytes are solitary amongst them in opisthorchiasis.

RESUMO

One of important aspects influencing the results of surgical treatment of patients with diseases of the colon is thought to be stepwise diagnostic and treatment measures. A retrospective analysis of treatment of 171 patients with pathology of the colon has been made. A medical-diagnostic algorithm has been developed and introduced which allowed improvement of effectiveness of medical aid in the group under study. Of importance was also modernization of certain technical aspects of operation. Efficiency of the developed method of the formation of colonic anastomosis with strengthening the line connection with a plate "Tahokomb" was proved in experiment and confirmed in clinical practice. The application of the medical-diagnostic algorithm allowed unification and standardization of approaches to treatment of patients with a pathology of the colon and better results were obtained with 3 times less number of complications.

RESUMO

Simulation of myocardial infarction in random-bred rats showed that lymph vessels play the leading role in the drainage of the myocardium during the acute period of ischemic damage and compensate for the developing insufficiency of interstitial drainage at the expense of venous component of the coronary bed. A pronounced enlargement of the lymph collectors and I, II, and order III vessels in the left and right ventricles of the heart was detected.

RESUMO

The investigations conducted on Syrian hamsters have revealed that multiple enteral infusions of cold inactivated (t = -10 degrees C) O. felineus metacercariae resulted in the formation of immunocompetent cell and fibroblast infiltrations around the branches of the portal vein. The infestation of animals by viable pathogens led to reduced accommodation of helminths and suppressed cell infiltration in the liver. It is assumed that the native population of the foci become tolerant to the disease with the penetration of noninvasive Opisthorchis larvae into their body and the development of latent forms of helminthiasis.

RESUMO

Granulomatous liver inflammation was studied in Syrian hamsters in opisthorchiasis alone and in combination with different factors, such as carcinogens, anthelmintics, immunosuppressants and pregnancy. Parasitic ova and metabolites, as well as hepatic cell necrosis are shown to be the initiating factors of granulomatous inflammation. Granulomas originate in ductal walls, hepatic stroma and parenchyma. Four granuloma types are distinguished, i.e. macrophagal, giant-cell, necrotizing and cicatricial one. The biggest granuloma area was observed in superinvasive form of helminthiasis, when infection was combined with a carcinogen (DMNA), and in pregnant female hamsters treated with droncite. It is suggested that opisthorchiasis is a granulomatous disease.
