BACKGROUND: Antiplatelet and anticoagulation drugs complicate acute gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) patients. Limited data about the risk factors and patient management has been presented. This study explored the association between previous antiplatelet or anticoagulant drug usage and clinical outcomes in GIB patients to improve awareness further and optimize treatment. METHODS: We conducted a multicenter, non-interventional, real-world prospective study in 106 hospitals in 23 provinces in China. GIB patients confirmed in the emergency department were included and were grouped according to previous drug histories. Univariate analysis, multivariate logistic regression, and multivariate stratification models were performed separately to investigate the associations. RESULTS: A total of 2299 patients (57.23 ± 17.21 years old, 68.3% male) were included, of whom 20.1% and 2.9% received antiplatelet and anticoagulation therapy, respectively. The all-cause 28-day mortality rates in patients without antiplatelet or anticoagulants, patients undergoing antiplatelet treatment, and patients with anticoagulation therapy were 2.8%, 4.6%, and 10.5%, respectively. After adjusting for confounding factors, both antiplatelet [odd ratio (OR), 2.92; 95% confidence interval (CI), 1.48-5.76; p = 0.002] and anticoagulation therapy (OR, 8.87; 95% CI, 3.02-26.02; p < 0.001) were associated with higher 28-day mortality. In the subgroup analysis, blood transfusion, especially red blood cell transfusion, in patients undergoing antiplatelet and anticoagulation therapy was associated with a decreased death risk. CONCLUSION: We confirmed an association between concurrent antiplatelet or anticoagulation therapy in GIB patients and elevated 28-day mortality. Blood transfusions could improve poor outcomes in such patients.

BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Gastrointestinal bleeding is a major healthcare burden and is associated with significant morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to assess the prevalence, clinical presentation, and risk factors of patients presenting with gastrointestinal bleeding in the emergency department. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective study was conducted in two tertiary care hospitals in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The medical records of patients who presented to the emergency department with gastrointestinal bleeding between January 2010 and January 2020 were reviewed. Patients aged 18 years or older, with gastrointestinal bleeding (upper or lower) regardless of underlying cause, lifestyle, location of bleeding, health status, or medication use, were included. Demographic characteristics, initial vital signs, medical history, physical examination findings, comorbidities, medications, laboratory and radiological investigations, cause and stage of liver disease, management, and complications were recorded. Endoscopic findings and management of the bleeding site were collected according to the presenting symptoms. RESULTS: A total of 760 patients were included. The mean age was 62.7 ± 17.8 years, and 61.4% were males. The most common comorbidities at presentation were hypertension (54.1%), diabetes mellitus (51.2%), and ischemic heart disease (18.2%). The origins of the bleeding were lower gastrointestinal in 52% and upper gastrointestinal in 48% of patients. CONCLUSIONS: Lower gastrointestinal bleeding was found to be more common than upper gastrointestinal bleeding. Hemorrhoids, polyps, diverticular disease, and colonic ulcers were the major risk factors for lower gastrointestinal bleeding. In contrast, upper gastrointestinal bleeding was predominantly caused by esophageal varices, gastritis, and peptic ulcers.

Previous meta-analyses assessed andexanet alfa (AA) or prothrombin complex concentrate (PCC) products for the treatment of Factor Xa inhibitor (FXaI)-associated major bleeding. However, they did not include recent studies or assess the impact of the risk of bias. We conducted a systematic review with meta-analysis on the effectiveness of AA versus PCC products for FXaI-associated major bleeding, inclusive of the studies' risk of bias. PubMed and Embase were searched for comparative studies assessing major bleeding in patients using FXaI who received AA or PCC. We used the Methodological Index for NOn-Randomized Studies (MINORS) checklist and one question from the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Critical Appraisal of Case Series tool to assess the risk of bias. Random-effects meta-analyses were performed to provide a pooled estimate for the effect of AA versus PCC products on hemostatic efficacy, in-hospital mortality, 30-day mortality, and thrombotic events. Low-moderate risk of bias studies were meta-analyzed separately, as well as combined with high risk of bias studies. Eighteen comparative evaluations of AA versus PCC were identified. Twenty-eight percent of the studies (n = 5) had low-moderate risk and 72% (n = 13) had a high risk of bias. Studies with low-moderate risk of bias suggested improvements in hemostatic efficacy [Odds Ratio (OR) 2.72 (95% Confidence Interval (CI): 1.15-6.44); one study], lower in-hospital mortality [OR 0.48 (95% CI: 0.38-0.61); three studies], and reduced 30-day mortality [OR 0.49 (95% CI: 0.30-0.80); two studies] when AA was used versus PCC products. When studies were included regardless of the risk of bias, pooled effects showed improvements in hemostatic efficacy [OR 1.36 (95% CI: 1.01-1.84); 12 studies] and reductions in 30-day mortality [OR 0.53 (95% CI: 0.37-0.76); six studies] for AA versus PCC. The difference in thrombotic events with AA versus PCC was not statistically significant in the low-moderate, high, or combined risk of bias groups. The evidence from low-moderate quality real-world studies suggests that AA is superior to PCC in enhancing hemostatic efficacy and reducing in-hospital and 30-day mortality. When studies are assessed regardless of the risk of bias, the pooled hemostatic efficacy and 30-day mortality risk remain significantly better with AA versus PCC.

BACKGROUND: Plasma exchange (PLEX) therapy is indicated for several disorders. The 5% albumin is often used as a sole replacement fluid during most PLEX. However, each 1.0 plasma volume exchange depletes coagulation factors by ~65%. Although most coagulation factors recover to hemostatic levels within 24 h post-PLEX, fibrinogen requires 48-72 h to recover. Fibrinogen is the key coagulation protein for hemostasis. Therefore, fibrinogen is often monitored during the acute course of PLEX, and plasma is supplemented to prevent bleeding if fibrinogen is <100 mg/dL. STUDY DESIGN AND METHODS: We conducted a prospective, single-center, observational study to evaluate bleeding risk in adults who received an acute course of PLEX with a fibrinogen level of 80-100 mg/dL without plasma supplementation during the procedure or before central venous catheter removal. The study group was compared to patients with plasma fibrinogen >100 mg/dL. RESULTS: Among the 275 patients who received 1406 PLEXes, 62 patients (23%) who underwent 323 PLEXes met the inclusion criteria, and only 2 (3%) patients had bleeding while on oral anticoagulants. In contrast, out of 275 patients, 143 (52%) with fibrinogen levels >100 mg/dL received 751 PLEX treatments, and bleeding occurred in 2 (1%) while on low-molecular-weight heparin. CONCLUSIONS: Our findings suggest that a pre-procedure fibrinogen threshold of 80-100 mg/dL without plasma supplementation does not increase bleeding risk unless patients were on anticoagulation.

BACKGROUND: Patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) who undergo polypectomy may experience postpolypectomy bleeding. To reduce the risk of delayed postpolypectomy bleeding among the general population, cold snare polypectomy (CSP) is recommended for removing colon polyps smaller than 1 cm. Nevertheless, only few studies have examined the effect of CSP on patients with ESRD. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the data of patients with ESRD who underwent colonoscopic polypectomy for polyps larger than 5 mm at a Taiwanese university hospital from January 2014 to January 2023. The main outcome was delayed postpolypectomy bleeding within 30 days. Multivariate analysis was conducted to adjust for major confounders. RESULTS: A total of 557 patients with ESRD underwent colonoscopic polypectomy during the study period: 201 underwent CSP and 356 underwent hot snare polypectomy (HSP). Delayed postpolypectomy bleeding occurred in 27 patients (4.8%). The rate of delayed postpolypectomy bleeding was lower in patients with ESRD who underwent CSP than in those who underwent HSP (1.9% vs. 6.4%, P = 0.022). The percentage of patients who did not experience postpolypectomy bleeding within 30 days after CSP remained lower than that observed after HSP (P = 0.019, log-rank test). Multivariate analysis demonstrated immediate postpolypectomy bleeding and HSP to be independent risk factors for delayed postpolypectomy bleeding. A nomogram prognostic model was used to predict the potential of delayed postpolypectomy bleeding within 30 days in patients with ESRD. CONCLUSIONS: Compared with HSP, CSP is more effective in mitigating the risk of delayed postpolypectomy bleeding in patients with ESRD.

INTRODUCTION: Upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) is a condition commonly seen in the emergency department (ED). Therefore, it is important for emergency clinicians to be aware of the current evidence regarding the diagnosis and management of this disease. OBJECTIVE: This paper evaluates key evidence-based updates concerning UGIB for the emergency clinician. DISCUSSION: UGIB most frequently presents with hematemesis. There are numerous causes, with the most common peptic ulcer disease, though variceal bleeding in particular can be severe. Nasogastric tube lavage for diagnosis is not recommended based on the current evidence. A hemoglobin transfusion threshold of 7 g/dL is recommended (8 g/dL in those with myocardial ischemia), but patients with severe bleeding and hemodynamic instability require emergent transfusion regardless of their level. Medications that may be used in UGIB include proton pump inhibitors, prokinetic agents, and vasoactive medications. Antibiotics are recommended for those with cirrhosis and suspected variceal bleeding. Endoscopy is the diagnostic and therapeutic modality of choice and should be performed within 24 h of presentation in non-variceal bleeding after resuscitation, though patients with variceal bleeding may require endoscopy within 12 h. Transcatheter arterial embolization or surgical intervention may be necessary. Intubation should be avoided if possible. If intubation is necessary, several considerations are required, including resuscitation prior to induction, utilizing preoxygenation and appropriate suction, and administering a prokinetic agent. There are a variety of tools available for risk stratification, including the Glasgow Blatchford Score. CONCLUSIONS: An understanding of literature updates can improve the ED care of patients with UGIB.

Uterine fibroids (UFs) are the most common female benign pelvic tumors, affecting over 60% of patients aged 30-44 years. UFs are asymptomatic in a large percentage of cases and may be identified incidentally by a transvaginal ultrasound or a magnetic resonance. However, in around 30% of cases UFs affect quality of life (QoL) and women's health, being abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB) and heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) the most common complaints, along with iron deficiency (ID) and ID anemia (IDA). Medical treatments used for UFs-related AUB include symptomatic agents, such as nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and tranexamic acid, and hormonal therapies, including combined oral contraceptives, gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonists or antagonists, levonorgestrel intrauterine systems, selective progesterone receptors modulators and aromatase inhibitors. Nevertheless, few drugs are approved specifically for UFs treatment and most of them manage the symptoms. Surgical options include fertility-sparing treatments, such as myomectomy, or non-conservative options, as hysterectomy, especially in perimenopausal women not responding to any treatment. Radiological interventions are also available: uterine artery embolization, high-intensity focused ultrasound or magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound, radiofrequency ablation. Furthermore, the management of ID and IDA, as a consequence of acute and chronic bleeding, should be taken into account by using iron replacement therapy both during medical treatment and before and after a surgical procedure. In case of symptomatic UFs, the location, size, multiple UFs or coexistent adenomyosis should guide the choice with a shared decision-making, considering long- and short-term treatment goals expected by the patient, including pregnancy desire or wish to preserve the uterus independently of reproductive goals.

BACKGROUND: Finding the balance between the reduction in ischemic events and bleeding complications is crucial for the success of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). The activated clotting time (ACT) is used routinely worldwide to monitor and titrate anticoagulation therapy with unfractionated heparin (UFH) during the procedure. OBJECTIVES: We aimed to test the accuracy of ACT measurements from the guiding catheter compared to the arterial access sheath. METHODS: Patients undergoing PCI with UFH therapy were prospectively enrolled. Blood samples were drawn from the coronary guide catheter and the arterial access sheath. ACT values were determined in the same ACT machine, and potential interactions with clinical variables were analyzed. RESULTS: The study included 331 patients with post PCI ACT measurements. The mean ACT value of the catheter samples was statistically higher than the arterial access sample [294 ± 77 s Vs. 250 ± 60 s, p < 0.001]. The mean difference between the guiding catheter and the arterial line sheath samples was 43 ± 27 s (P < 0.001). We found that in 101/331 [30 %] patients the ACT from the guiding catheter was above 250 s, while from the access sheath it was below 250 s. Notably, in 40/331 [12 %] the ACT from the guiding catheter was above 200 s, while from the access sheath it was below 200 s. CONCLUSIONS: Large proportion of patient may be considered to have therapeutic ACT if measured from guide catheter during PCI, while the corresponding ACT from arterial sheath is subtherapeutic. This difference may have clinical and safety significance.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Polyvascular disease has a significant global burden and is associated with increased risk of major adverse cardiac events with each additional vascular territory involved. The purpose of this review is to highlight the risk factors, associated outcomes, emerging genetic markers, and evidence for screening and treatment of polyvascular disease. RECENT FINDINGS: Polyvascular disease is the presence of atherosclerosis in two or more vascular beds. It has a significant global burden, with a prevalence of 30-70% in patients with known atherosclerosis. Patients with polyvascular disease experience elevated rates of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction and stroke, especially among high-risk subgroups like those with type 2 diabetes mellitus and there is a step-wise increased risk of adverse outcomes with each additional vascular territory involved. Genetic analyses demonstrate that some individuals may carry a genetic predisposition, while others exhibit higher levels of atherogenic lipoproteins and inflammatory markers. Routine screening for asymptomatic disease is not currently recommended by major cardiovascular societies unless patients are high-risk. While there are no established protocols for escalating treatment, existing guidelines advocate for lipid-lowering therapy. Additionally, recent studies have demonstrated benefit from antithrombotic agents, such as P2Y12 inhibitors and low-dose anticoagulation, but the optimal timing and dosage of these agents has not been established, and the ischemic benefit must be balanced against the increased risk of bleeding in the polyvascular population. Due to the high prevalence and risks associated with polyvascular disease, early identification and treatment intensification are crucial to reduce disease progression. Future research is needed to develop screening protocols and determine the optimal timing and dosing of therapy to prevent ischemic events.

Unscheduled bleeding on hormone replacement therapy (HRT) can affect up to 40% of users. In parallel with the increase in HRT prescribing in the UK, there has been an associated increase in referrals to the urgent suspicion of cancer pathway for unscheduled bleeding. On behalf of the British Menopause Society (BMS) an expert review panel was established, including primary and secondary care clinicians with expertise in the management of menopause, with representatives from key related organisations, including the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, the British Gynaecological Cancer Society, British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy, Royal College of General Practitioners and Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health, and service development partners from NHS England and GIRFT (Getting it Right First Time). For each topic, a focused literature review was completed to develop evidence led recommendations, where available, which were ratified by consensus review within the panel and by guideline groups.

BACKGROUND: Despite the advancements in extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) technology, balancing the prevention of thrombosis and the risk of bleeding in patients on ECMO is still a significant challenge for physicians. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of viscoelastic point-of-care (POC)-guided coagulation management in adult patients on ECMO. METHODS: PubMed Medline, Embase, Scopus, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library databases were searched. After quality assessment, meta-analysis was carried out using random effects model, heterogeneity using I2 and publication bias using Doi and Funnel plots. RESULTS: A total of 1718 records were retrieved from the searches. Fifteen studies that enrolled a total of 583 participants met the inclusion criteria. Of those, 3 studies enrolling 181 subjects were eligible for meta-analysis. In patients managed with POC-guided algorithms, the odds were coherently lower for bleeding (OR 0.71, 95%CI 0.36-1.42), thrombosis (OR 0.91, 95%CI 0.32-2.60), and in-hospital mortality (OR 0.54, 95%CI 0.29-1.03), but not for circuit change or failure (OR 1.50, 95%CI 0.59-3.83). However, the differences were not statistically significant due to wide 95%CIs. CONCLUSION: Viscoelastic POC monitoring demonstrates potential benefits for coagulation management in ECMO patients. Future research should focus on standardizing evidence to improve clinical decision-making. Glanzmann thrombasthenia (GT) is a rare inherited platelet bleeding disorder caused by a quantitative and/or qualitative defect of the αIIbß3 integrin. Pregnancy and delivery pose special challenges as they entail increased risks of both maternal and foetal bleeding that may be life-threatening. Multidisciplinary management throughout the preconception, intrapartum and peripartum periods is vital to optimize pregnancy outcomes. This Nutshell review focuses on the challenging management of pregnancy and childbirth in patients with GT.

Background/Aims: The massive transfusion protocol (MTP) can improve the outcomes of trauma patients with hemorrhagic shock and some patients with non-traumatic hemorrhagic shock. However, no information is available regarding whether MTP can improve the outcomes of acute variceal bleeding (AVB). This study aimed to determine the effects of MTP on the outcomes of patients with AVB. Methods: Consecutive patients (n = 218) with AVB who did not have current malignancy and visited the emergency room between July 2014 and June 2022 were analyzed. 42-day mortality and failure to control the bleeding were compared between patients with and without MTP activation. Additionally, propensity-score matching was conducted. Results: The amount of blood product transfused was higher in the MTP group. The 42-day mortality rate (42.1% vs. 1.5%, p < 0.001) and the rate of failure to control bleeding (36.8% vs. 0.5%, p < 0.001) were significantly higher in those who received blood transfusions by MTP. MTP was an independent factor associated with 42-day mortality in the multivariable-adjusted analysis (HR 21.05; 95% CI 3.07-144.21, p = 0.002, HR 24.04; 95% CI 3.41-169.31, p = 0.001). The MTP group showed consistently higher 42-day mortality and failure to control bleeding in all subgroup analyses, stratified by systolic blood pressure, hemoglobin level, and the model for end-stage liver disease score. The MTP group also showed higher 42-day mortality (42.9% vs. 0%, p = 0.001) and failure to control bleeding (42.9% vs. 0%, p = 0.001) in a propensity score-matched analysis (n = 52). Conclusions: MTP was associated with poor outcomes in patients with AVB. Further studies are needed to see whether MTP can be an option for patients with massive AVB.

A retrospective study in patients who underwent video capsule endoscopy (VCE) between 2006 and 2016 was conducted in the Clinic for gastroenterology and Hepatology, University Clinical Center of Serbia. A total of 245 patients underwent VCE. In 198 patients the indication was obscure gastrointestinal bleeding (OGIB), with 92 patients having overt and the other 106 occult bleeding. The remaining 47 patients underwent VCE due to suspected small bowel (SB) disease (i.e., Von Hippel-Lindau syndrome, familial adenomatous polyposis, Peutz Jeghers syndrome, Crohn's disease, prolonged diarrhea, abdominal pain, congenital lymphangiectasia, protein-losing enteropathy, tumors, refractory celiac disease, etc.). VCE identified a source of bleeding in 38.9% of patients (in the obscure overt group in 48.9% of patients, and in the obscure occult group in 30.2% of patients). The most common findings were angiodysplasias, tumors, Meckel's diverticulum and Crohn's disease. In the smaller group of patients with an indication other than OGIB, 38.3% of patients had positive VCE findings. The most common indication is OGIB, and the best candidates are patients with overt bleeding; patients with IBD should be evaluated in this setting.

Small bowel tumors are relatively rare, representing only around 5% of all gastrointestinal neoplasms, with a progressively increasing incidence. Currently, there are no established guidelines for diagnostic approaches, screening procedures, or management strategies for small bowel tumors. We present here the case of a patient with a rare type of metastatic tumor of the small bowel originating from primary lung adenocarcinoma who presented with abdominal pain, severe iron-deficiency anemia, and melena. The initial investigations, gastroscopy and colonoscopy, failed to identify the bleeding source. The obscure bleeding source and diagnosis were achieved through power motorized spiral enteroscopy (MSE), which allowed the visualization and biopsy of the tumor. Histopathological examination established the presence of a poorly differentiated non-mucinous adenocarcinoma originating from the lung. This case is reported to provide evidence of the efficiency of MSE in the diagnosis of small bowel tumors, with the method providing higher insertion depth in a reduced amount of time.

While Cerebral vascular malformations exhibit distinct clinical and radiographical features, rare instances of coexisting lesions occur. This case report sheds light on the rare coexistence of brain capillary telangiectasia and venous angioma in a patient presenting with a seizure attributed to frontal lobe bleeding. Though often silent, brain capillary telangiectasia can manifest with serious life-threatening intracranial bleeding. Therefore, in cases of spontaneous intracranial bleeding, an MRI of the head is crucial to rule out such cerebral vascular malformations.

Background: The reasons for gastrointestinal bleeding among patients with acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) were complex. Here we present an unusual case of life-threatening gastrointestinal bleeding caused by a cytomegalovirus-induced duodenal ulcer in an AIDS patient. Case presentation: A 31-year-old male with AIDS was admitted on July 18, 2023, complaining of abdominal pain for 38 days and intermittent hematochezia for 12 days. During his hospitalization, gastrointestinal endoscopy attributed gastrointestinal bleeding to a giant duodenal ulcer. Furthermore, cytomegalovirus(CMV) infection was confirmed as the reason for the ulcer through metagenomic next-generation sequencing (mNGs), hematoxylin-eosin(HE) staining, and immunohistochemistry (IHC) staining for the biopsy tissue. The patient's gastrointestinal bleeding was stopped by interventional embolization. Following a 4-week course of anti-CMV treatment, the giant duodenal ulcer was cured. Conclusions: For AIDS patients with gastrointestinal bleeding, the CMV-induced gastrointestinal ulcer should be considered. Comprehensive mothods (mNGs, HE staining and IHC staining for biopsy tissue) were benefit for confirmed diagnosis. Beside anti-CMV treatment, the interventional embolization is a choice for hemostasis.

Background: Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB) is a notable complication in patients diagnosed with aortic dissection (AD). We evaluated the outcomes and identified the risk factors associated with GIB in patients with AD. Methods: A retrospective case-control study was conducted on patients diagnosed with type A aortic dissection (TAAD) who underwent total aortic arch replacement (TAAR) at our institution from July 2021 to July 2023. Comprehensive clinical data, laboratory findings, and imaging results were meticulously gathered and analyzed to identify potential risk factors linked to GIB in this patient cohort. Results: Of the 198 AD patients who underwent TAAR, 38 (19.2%) developed postoperative GIB (GIB group), with a median interval of 7 days between surgery and bleeding onset. The GIB group exhibited significantly higher mortality (26.3% vs. 3.1%, P<0.001), prolonged intensive care unit (ICU) stay {15 [interquartile range (IQR), 8-25] vs. 7 (IQR, 5-12) days, P<0.001}, and extended duration of ventilation [168 (IQR, 120-372) vs. 71 (IQR, 34-148) hours, P<0.001] compared to the control group (n=160, 80.8%). Logistic regression analysis identified age >54 years [odds ratio (OR): 3.529], intraoperative red blood cell (RBC) transfusion >600 mL (OR: 3.865), and concomitant celiac trunk and superior mesenteric artery (SMA) hypoperfusion (OR: 15.974) as independent risk factors for GIB in AD patients. Conclusions: GIB subsequent to TAAR in AD patients is linked to adverse prognosis. Factors such as advanced age, extensive intraoperative transfusion, and gastrointestinal (GI) perfusion abnormalities may heighten the risk of GIB in this patient population.

BACKGROUND: Abnormal uterine bleeding, a frequent gynecological problem among women of reproductive age, significantly affects their health and quality of life. Despite its problem, research on its extent and contributing factors in Ethiopia is scarce. Hence, this study is designed to determine the magnitude and factors associated with abnormal uterine bleeding among women visiting Dilla University General Hospital, Dilla, Ethiopia. METHODS: A cross-sectional study design was conducted with 380 women of reproductive age at Dilla University General Hospital. A systematic sampling method was employed to select the participants for the study. A structured interview administered questionnaire and checklist were used to collect the data. Stata V.14 software was used for cleaning, coding, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and further analysis. Bivariate and multivariable logistic regression analyses were used. Finally, the variables that have a p-value of < 0.05 were considered statistically significant. RESULTS: In this study, the magnitude of abnormal uterine bleeding was 24.21% (95% CI, 20.14-28.79). History of sexually transmitted disease [AOR = 1.44, 95% CI: (1.33, 4.75)], history of anemia [AOR = 3.92, 95% CI: (1.20, 12.74)]., history of alcohol consumption [AOR = 2.49, 95% CI: (1.22, 5.06)], and perceived stress level [AOR = 1.30, 95% CI: (1.15, 1.69)] were found to be significantly associated with abnormal uterine bleeding. CONCLUSIONS: The magnitude of abnormal uterine bleeding was 24.2% in the study setting. Factors such as a history of sexually transmitted disease, anemia, alcohol consumption, and perceived stress level were identified as significant risk factors for abnormal uterine bleeding. Addressing these factors is crucial for management. Further research and interventions targeting these risks are needed to enhance health outcomes. The study provides valuable insights for future interventions.
