RESUMO

To investigate the seasonal characteristics in air pollution in Chengdu, a single particle aerosol mass spectrometry was used to continuously observe atmospheric fine particulate matter during one-month periods in summer and winter, respectively. The results showed that, apart from O3, the concentrations of other pollutants (CO, NO2, SO2, PM2.5 and PM10) were significantly higher in winter than in summer. All single particle aerosols were divided into seven categories: biomass burning (BB), coal combustion (CC), Dust, vehicle emission (VE), K mixed with nitrate (K-NO3), K mixed with sulfate and nitrate (K-SN), and K mixed with sulfate (K-SO4) particles. The highest contributions in both seasons were VE particles (24%). The higher contributions of K-SO4 (16%) and K-NO3 (10%) particles occurred in summer and winter, respectively, as a result of their different formation mechanisms. S-containing (K-SO4 and K-SN), VE, and BB particles caused the evolution of pollution in both seasons, and they can be considered as targets for future pollution reduction. The mixing of primary sources particles (VE, Dust, CC, and BB) with secondary components was stronger in winter than in summer. In summer, as pollution worsens, the mixing of primary sources particles with 62 [NO3]- weakened, but the mixing with 97 [HSO4]- increased. However, in winter, the mixing state of particles did not exhibit an obvious evolution rules. The potential source areas in summer were mainly distributed in the southern region of Sichuan, while in winter, besides the southern region, the contribution of the western region cannot be ignored.

RESUMO

VOCs (Volatile organic compounds) exert a vital role in ozone and secondary organic aerosol production, necessitating investigations into their concentration, chemical characteristics, and source apportionment for the effective implementation of measures aimed at preventing and controlling atmospheric pollution. From July to October 2020, online monitoring was conducted in the main urban area of Shijiazhuang to collect data on VOCs and analyze their concentrations and reactivity. Additionally, the PMF (positive matrix factorization) method was utilized to identify the VOCs sources. Results indicated that the TVOCs (total VOCs) concentration was (96.7 ± 63.4 µg/m3), with alkanes exhibiting the highest concentration of (36.1 ± 26.4 µg/m3), followed by OVOCs (16.4 ± 14.4 µg/m3). The key active components were alkenes and aromatics, among which xylene, propylene, toluene, propionaldehyde, acetaldehyde, ethylene, and styrene played crucial roles as reactive species. The sources derived from PMF analysis encompassed vehicle emissions, solvent and coating sources, combustion sources, industrial emissions sources, as well as plant sources, the contribution of which were 37.80%, 27.93%, 16.57%, 15.24%, and 2.46%, respectively. Hence, reducing vehicular exhaust emissions and encouraging neighboring industries to adopt low-volatile organic solvents and coatings should be prioritized to mitigate VOCs levels.

RESUMO

This study examined the impact of live bread yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on the nutritional characteristics of Asian dried noodles. Micronutrient analysis of fermented noodles revealed a 6.9% increase in the overall amino acid content, a 37.1% increase in the vitamin B content and a 63.0% decrease in the phytic acid level. Molecular weight analysis of starch and protein contents revealed moderate decrease in the fermented noodles. The in vitro digestion of fermented noodles showed a slightly faster initial acidification, four-fold decrease in the initial shear viscosity (from 8.85 to 1.94 Pa·s). The initial large food particle count (>2 mm diameter) was 19.5% lower in the fermented noodles. The fermented noodles contained slightly higher free sugar content (73.5 mg g-1 noodle) during the gastric digestion phase. The overall nutrition and digestion results indicate nutritional improvement and digestion-easing attributes in the fermented noodles.

RESUMO

This study comprehensively investigated the effects of high-temperature cooking (HT), complex enzyme hydrolysis (CE), and high-temperature cooking combined enzymatic hydrolysis (HE) on the chemical composition, microstructure, and functional attributes of soluble dietary fiber (SDF) extracted from corn bran. The results demonstrated that HE-SDF yielded the highest output at 13.80 ± 0.20 g/100 g, with enhancements in thermal stability, viscosity, hydration properties, adsorption capacity, and antioxidant activity. Cluster analysis revealed three distinct categories of SDF's physicochemical properties. Principal component analysis (PCA) confirmed the superior functional properties of HE-SDF. Correlation analysis showed positive relationships between the monosaccharide composition, purity, and viscosity of SDF and most of its functional attributes, whereas particle size and zeta potential were inversely correlated. Furthermore, a highly significant positive correlation was observed between crystallinity and thermal properties. These findings suggest that the HE method constitutes a viable strategy for enhancing the quality of SDF sourced from corn bran.

RESUMO

As one of the fundamental physical quantities, temperature is extremely important in various fields. In order to study the temperature sensing characteristics of dual-emitting center phosphors, Bi3+-doped and Bi3+/Sm3+-doped Sr2Ga2GeO7 phosphors were synthesized by high-temperature solid-phase method. Under 312 nm excitation, the Sr2Ga2GeO7:Bi3+ phosphor exhibits a blue broadband emission corresponding to the 3P1 → 1S0 transition of Bi3+ ions. By testing the temperature change spectrum of phosphors, it was found that Bi3+ exhibited strong thermal sensitivity. However, due to the fact that single ion doped phosphors are easily affected by other factors when applied to the field of temperature sensing, based on the thermal sensitivity of Bi3+, Sm3+ with low temperature sensitivity was selected as the co-doped ion, and it was found that the two ions had different thermal quenching characteristics when the temperature change spectrum was tested. Using the temperature detection method based on the fluorescence intensity ratio (FIR) of the dual emission centers, it was found that the best absolute sensitivity Sa was 3.125% K-1 and the maximum relative sensitivity Sr was 1.275% K-1 in the range of 303-423 K. These results show that Sr2Ga2GeO7:Bi3+/Sm3+ phosphors have broad application prospects in the field of optical temperature sensing.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Depressive symptoms, goal progress, and goal characteristics are interrelated, but the directionality of these relationships is unclear. METHODS: In a 6-wave longitudinal study (N = 431; 2002 total surveys), we examine the bidirectionality of the relationships between depressive symptoms, goal characteristics (commitment, self-efficacy, and perception of other's support), and goal progress for academic and interpersonal goals at 2-week intervals. Separate random-intercept cross-lagged panel models were tested for each goal characteristic across both goals. RESULTS: At the within-person level, goal progress significantly positively predicted commitment, self-efficacy, and perception of others' support for the goal. Most of the other hypothesized paths were nonsignificant, including paths between depressive symptoms and progress. At the between-person level, all variables were significantly correlated, with some effects significantly larger for the interpersonal than the academic goal. DISCUSSION: The results suggest that when it comes to depressive symptoms and goal pursuit, general tendencies may be more important than variations over 2-week intervals.

RESUMO

INTRODUCTION: Obesity represents a global health crisis and results from complex interactions between psychological, environmental, and genetic factors. Any therapeutic approach should consider the social, personal, and psychological characteristics of the obese subject, as well as possible medical complications. This study investigates sex differences in candidates for bariatric surgery. SUBJECTS AND METHODS: This is a cross-sectional study including subjects who underwent psychiatric pre-surgical evaluation. The evaluation comprised a clinical interview and the administration of self-report questionnaires that assessed socio-demographic and clinical aspects. Descriptive and bivariate analyses and a multivariate logistic regression model were performed to evaluate variables significantly associated with sex in bariatric surgery candidates. RESULTS: The sample consisted of 173 subjects, of which 71.1% were women. Significant differences between men and women were detected in employment status, birth nationality, psychopathological history, organic comorbidities, and BMI value. There were no significant differences in clinical aspects. CONCLUSION: Obesity has a significant impact on global health. Women and men who are considering bariatric surgery represent two different populations in demographic, personal, and social characteristics. Therefore, a sex-tailored approach is essential to guarantee adequate support in the management of the various aspects of obesity.

RESUMO

Neighborhood ethnoracial composition has been associated with schizophrenia, but mechanisms are unclear. This study investigates the moderators and mediators of the association between neighborhood ethnoracial diversity and positive symptoms among youth at clinical high-risk for psychosis (CHR-P) and healthy comparisons (HC). Data were collected as part of The North American Prodrome Longitudinal Study and included 492 youth at CHR-P and 136 HCs. Neighborhood ethnoracial diversity measures the probability that two people chosen at random will be from different ethnoracial groups. Attenuated positive symptoms were derived from the Scale of Prodromal Symptoms. Peer victimization and discriminatory experiences were constructed as latent variables. Using structural equation modeling, this study tested the relationship of these variables and included the following covariates: age, sex, neighborhood poverty, and depressive symptoms. Greater neighborhood ethnoracial diversity was associated with reduced positive symptoms among ethnoracial minorities at CHR-P (ß=-3.78; 95 % CI [-6.61, -0.84]). Fewer life events of peer victimization (ß=-0.13; 95 % CI [-0.24, -0.03]) leading to perceived ethnoracial discrimination (ß=0.56; 95 % CI [0.45, 0.67]) mediated 15.06 % of this association. These findings deepen our understanding of the social determinants of psychosis and may help develop effective interventions to prevent psychosis, especially among ethnoracial minority youth at high risk.

RESUMO

Microplastics (MPs) are frequently detected in the wastewater. Herein, the short-term and long-term effects of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) MPs on anammox granular sludge were investigated and the potential response mechanisms were analyzed. Results showed that although short-term exposure of anammox granular sludge to PET-MPs induced a stress response, the nitrogen removal performance was not significantly affected. By contrast, long-term exposure to PET-MPs inhibited nitrogen removal performance with increased exposure time and PET-MP concentration. The total nitrogen removal efficiency (TNRE) decreased by 28.7 % when sludge was exposed to 200 mg/L of PET-MPs. However, the anammox activity recovered with prolonged operation time, and approximately 87 % of the initial TNRE was recovered after three months. Microbial community evolution and metabolic exchange variations were the potential response mechanisms of anammox granular sludge to PET-MP exposure, with PET-MP exposure decreasing the anammox bacteria growth rate and relative symbiotic bacterial abundance in the anammox consortia and hindering cross-feeding pathways. The findings of this study provide novel insight into anammox behavior when treating wastewater containing PET-MPs.

RESUMO

A hypertensive crisis is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular events. Although altered cardiac structure, function, and myocardial architecture on cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) have been associated with increased adverse events in hypertensive patients, the studies did not include patients with hypertensive crisis. Our study aimed to determine myocardial tissue characteristics in patients with hypertensive crisis using CMR imaging. Participants underwent comprehensive CMR imaging at 1.5T. The imaging protocol included cine-, T2-weighted-, contrasted- and multi-parametric mapping images. Blood and imaging biomarkers were compared in hypertensive emergency and hypertensive urgency. Predictors of myocardial edema was assessed using linear regression. The predictive value of T1- and T2 mapping for identifying hypertensive emergency (from urgency) was assessed with receiver operator characteristics curves. Eighty-two patients (48.5 ± 13.4 years, 57% men) were included. Hypertensive emergency constituted 78%. Native T1 was higher in patients with LVH compared to those without (1056 ± 33 vs. 1013 ± 40, P < 0.001), and tended to be higher in hypertensive emergency than urgency (1051 ± 37 vs. 1033 ± 40, P = 0.077). T2-w signal intensity (SI) ratio and T2 mapping values were higher in hypertensive emergency (1.5 ± 0.2 vs. 1.4 ± 0.1, P = 0.044 and 48 ± 2 vs. 47 ± 2, P = 0.004), and in patients with than without LVH (1.5 ± 0.2 vs. 1.4 ± 0.1, P = 0.045 and P = 0.030). A trend for higher extracellular volume was noted in hypertensive emergency compared to urgency (25 ± 4 vs. 22 ± 3, P = 0.050). Native T1 correlated with T2 mapping (rs = 0.429, P < 0.001), indexed LV mass (rs = 0.493, P < 0.001), cardiac troponin (rs = 0.316, P < 0.001) and NT-proBNP (rs = 0.537, P < 0.001), while T2 correlated with cardiac troponin (rs = 0.390, P < 0.001), and NT-proBNP (rs = 0.348, P < 0.001). Non-ischemic LGE pattern occurred in 59% and was 21% more prevalent in the hypertensive emergency group (P = 0.005). Our findings demonstrate that hypertensive crisis is associated with distinct myocardial tissue alterations, including increased myocardial edema and fibrosis, as detected on CMR. Patients with hypertensive emergency had a higher degree of myocardial oedema than hypertensive urgency. Further research is necessary to explore the prognostic value of these findings.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Headache disorders, including migraine, pose a significant burden globally, with varying prevalence rates across different regions. However, research on migraine in Nigeria and other low-income countries is limited. Understanding the prevalence, characteristics, and treatment outcomes of migraine in Nigeria is essential for informing healthcare policies and improving patient care. METHODS: This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to synthesize existing literature on migraine prevalence, characteristics, and treatment outcomes in Nigeria. Eligible studies were identified through comprehensive searches of multiple electronic databases and grey literature sources. Studies reporting migraine prevalence, diagnostic criteria, treatment modalities, and outcomes were included. Data extraction and quality assessment were performed following established guidelines. RESULTS: Ten studies involving 7,768 participants met the inclusion criteria and were included in the meta-analysis. The pooled prevalence of migraine headache in Nigeria was calculated to be 16% (95% CI = 7-28), with significant heterogeneity observed among studies (I² = 99.35%, P < 0.001). Subgroup analysis revealed a higher prevalence of migraine among women compared to men. Common triggers for migraine included physical activity, sleep deprivation, mental and physical fatigue, and emotional stress. Treatment modalities varied, with simple analgesics, NSAIDs, ergotamine derivatives, and amitriptyline being commonly used. However, many participants reported inadequate pain relief or significant side effects, highlighting the need for improved management strategies. CONCLUSION: The findings of this systematic review and meta-analysis underscore the significant burden of migraine in Nigeria and the need for improved healthcare policies and interventions. Addressing gaps in access to specialized care and implementing more effective treatment regimens could help alleviate the burden of migraine on individuals and healthcare systems in Nigeria. Further research is needed to standardize diagnostic criteria and methodologies and provide more reliable prevalence estimates.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: The procedures used to assess the methodological quality and risk of bias (RoB) of systematic reviews of observational dental studies have not been investigated. The purpose of this research was to examine the way that authors of systematic reviews of epidemiological observational studies published in dentistry conducted the methodological assessment of those primary studies. In the present article, we aimed to assess the characteristics and the level of reporting of tools used to assess the methodologies of these reviews. METHODS: We searched Scopus and the Web of Science from their inceptions to June 2023 for systematic reviews with meta-analyses of observational studies published in dentistry. Document selection and data extraction were performed in duplicate and independently by two authors. In a random sample of 10% of the systematic reviews, there was an agreement of more than 80% between the reviewers; data selection and extraction were conducted in the remaining 90% of the sample by one author. Data on the article and systematic review characteristics were extracted and recorded for descriptive reporting. RESULTS: The search in the two databases resulted in the inclusion of 3,214 potential documents. After the elimination of duplicates and the application of the eligibility criteria, a total of 399 systematic reviews were identified and included. A total of 368 systematic reviews reported a methodological tool, of which 102 used the Newcastle-Ottawa scale. Additionally, 76 systematic reviews stated the use of a modified methodological tool. Information about the approach of assessing the methodological quality or RoB of primary studies but reporting no tool or tool name occurred in 25 reviews. CONCLUSIONS: The majority of authors of systematic reviews of epidemiological observational studies published in dentistry reported the tools used to assess the methodological quality or RoB of the included primary studies. Modifying existing tools to meet the individual characteristics of various studies should be considered.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Schistosomiasis remains a public health problem, particularly in sub-Saharan Africa. The disease is intimately connected to poverty and environmental factors. Our research was readily embedded into a multi-country schistosomiasis oversampling study. The aim of the study presented here was to determine the prevalence of Schistosoma mansoni and to investigate the role of water body characteristics and water-related human activities in disease transmission. METHODS: In August and September 2022, a cross-sectional study was conducted in the western part of Côte d'Ivoire. Stool and urine samples were collected from 1602 and 1729 children aged 5-14 years, respectively, in 65 villages in the health districts of Biankouma, Ouaninou and Touba. Additionally, data were collected from direct observation of water-related activities at water bodies and interviews conducted with community leaders and health workers. The prevalence and risk factors for Schistosoma infection were assessed using generalised estimating equation models. RESULTS: The prevalence ofS. mansoni and S. haematobium were 27.4% (95% confidence interval [CI] 21.5-34.3%) and 0.1% (95% CI 0.03-0.5%), respectively. Low prevalence of soil-transmitted helminths was observed with 2.4%, 0.4% and 0.2% for hookworm, Trichuris trichiura and Ascaris lumbricoides, respectively. At the health district level, we found S. mansoni prevalence of 34.4% (95% CI 25.0-45.3%), 34.3% (95% CI 24.0-46.2%) and 16.3% (95% CI 9.5-26.6%) for Biankouma, Ouaninou and Touba, respectively. Female and male participants were at a similar risk of infection (29.0% vs. 26.0%, odds ratio [OR]: 1.18, 95% CI 0.92-1.50). Children aged 9-14 years showed a higher prevalence than their younger counterparts aged 5-8 years (34.5% vs. 22.7%, OR: 1.80, 95% CI 1.42-2.27). High infection prevalence was observed in villages where children were washing clothes and dishes at open surface water sites and pursued recreational activities (e.g. swimming and playing in the water). The temperature, total dissolved solids and pH of water samples showed no significant association with S. mansoni infection at the village unit. CONCLUSIONS: Human water-related activities such as washing clothes and playing in the water are risk factors for S. mansoni transmission. Hence, preventive chemotherapy should be combined with information, education and communication to avoid or reduce the frequency of water exposure in children as part of a comprehensive package of interventions towards elimination of schistosomiasis as a public health problem.

RESUMO

BACKGROUND: Extreme sports have increased in popularity, particularly over the past two decades. Theories explaining participation in extreme sports tend to focus on risk. Consequently, extreme sports participants are often characterized by an accentuated desire for risk and abnormal personal traits, but the positive aspects of extreme sports are often neglected in the literature. This scoping review summarizes extreme sport motives, emotions and personal characteristics. METHODS: Following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews (PRISMA-ScR) Checklist, three databases were searched (PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, SportDiscus and, PsycInfo) on 20th April 2023. Studies were included if they were originally articles written in English and examined psychology traits in extreme sport participants. RESULTS: In total, 39 manuscripts met the inclusion criteria and were analyzed in the present review. There is no unique profile for individuals involved in extreme sports. Risk and fear are considered natural characteristic of participation, and many positive aspects are associated with involvement in extreme sports (e.g., organization, planning, confidence). The quality of experience is often reported to justify extreme sport participation. CONCLUSION: Changes in emotions and motives characterized the reversal theory, which in combination with the flow approach, could explain the participation in extreme activities. A dynamic ecological approach considering the interaction between individuals and the environment should be adopted to understand individual motives, behaviour and emotions.

RESUMO

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is a heterogeneous histiocytosis characterized by proliferation of Langerhans cells. While less common, manifestations of digestive tract involvement in LCH remain largely unrevealed. We conducted a retrospective analysis of demographics, clinical, endoscopic, genetic and follow-up data from 13 adult patients with pathologically confirmed gastrointestinal involvement of LCH (LCH-GI), in a single-center cohort of 465 patients. Digestive tract involvement was observed in 2.80% of LCH patients. At LCH-GI diagnosis, 7 patients (53.8%) had unifocal lesions, and 6 patients (46.2%) had multisystem disease. 6 patients (46.2%) experienced no gastrointestinal symptoms at LCH-GI onset, while others were symptomatic. Stomach was most commonly affected (61.5%), followed by esophagus (23.1%), colon (7.7%) and anus (7.7%). Endoscopic findings varied among 12 patients, including submucosal bulge (8 patients, 66.7%) and non-bulging lesions (4 patients, 33.3%) such as erosions, coarse granular mucosa, and regional abnormal coloration. Among 8 patients with genetic analysis, BRAFV600E mutation was detected in 5 patients (62.5%). The estimated 1-year overall survival rate was 91.7%. Progression-free survival of patients with submucosal bulges under endoscopy was significantly better than those with non-bulging lesions. This study presents 13 cases of LCH with digestive tract involvement. We emphasize the importance of endoscopy and biopsy for pathological examination of lesions such as submucosal bulges and erosions under endoscopy to assist in early detection of LCH. Comprehensive systemic assessment and regular endoscopic monitoring are essential in patient management. Treatment should be individualized with dynamic adjustments during follow-up.

RESUMO

In this study, we have found two new species-Strophariasubrugosoannulata and Strophariamicroaeruginosa. Phylogenetic analyses, based on the internal transcribed spacer regions (ITS) and the nuclear ribosomal RNA gene (nrLSU), suggest that the two new species are distinct and monophyletic. S.subrugosoannulata is distinguished from other species of the genus Stropharia by the pileus covered with greyish-orange squamules in the centre, stipe light brown and surface covered with white triangular squamules. S.microaeruginosa differs from other species in its pileus bluish-grey when young becoming lighter towards margins, later greyish-turquoise lightens towards the edges and surface radially striate when young, lamellae adnate to subdecurrent, stipe with white squamules at the base, acanthocytes absent. The new record species from Jilin Province, Clitolyophyllumumbilicatum was also confirmed, based on morphological and molecular study. Here, we have given full descriptions of each species, colour images, illustrations and two phylogenetic trees that show the placement and relationship of the two new species and the new record are provided.

RESUMO

Frailty, a geriatric syndrome, is assessed using the frailty phenotype (FP) and frailty index (FI). While these approaches have been applied to aging mice, their effectiveness in prematurely aging mouse models such as PolgAD257A/D257A (PolgA) has not been completely explored. We demonstrated that frailty became evident in PolgA mice around 40 weeks, validated through body weight loss, reduced walking speed, decreased physical activity, and weaker grip strength. Moreover, we also identified sex differences in these mice with females exhibiting slightly more physical decline compared to males. Frailty prevalence in PolgA mice at 40 weeks parallels that observed in naturally aging mice at 27 months and aging humans at 65-70 years. These findings contribute to understanding frailty onset and sex-specific patterns in this prematurely aging mouse model, emphasizing the significance of the PolgA mouse model in investigating aging and related disorders.

RESUMO

Previous research has shown that employment is an important social context affecting fertility, yet relatively little is known about the extent to which work characteristics affect fertility expectations. Using over 25 years of data from the 1979 National Longitudinal Survey of Youth, we analyzed the associations between part-time work and characteristics associated with autonomy over working time, specifically self-employment and managerial/professional occupation, and childbearing expectations among women ages 18-45 (N=4,415). Logistic regression models for longitudinal data reveal that work characteristics are significantly associated with fertility expectations, but that the specific nature of the relationship varies by parity. Among women with one child, those working part-time had predicted probabilities of expecting to have additional children that were 2% higher than those working full-time. In contrast, among women without any children, those working part-time had predicted probabilities that were 2% lower than those working full-time. Similar contrasting relationships by parity were found when comparing self-employed women to employees and managers/professionals to those in other occupations. Findings were consistent across racial and ethnic groups. These results suggest that different mechanisms link work characteristics to fertility plans for mothers and non-mothers, specifically that role incompatibility and work-family conflict are more salient for mothers but that financial strain is so for non-mothers.

RESUMO

Background: Acute spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare ischemic vascular lesion. It is difficult to diagnose during the acute phase because the clinical features can vary widely, and the diffusion-weighted imaging of spinal cord magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) often fails to detect any obvious abnormality. The first aim of this study was to describe the SCI patients' characteristics, evaluate the accuracy of its diagnosis tools and management, and then find the strength of the effect of spinal surgical decompression on the patient's outcome. Methods: A PubMed keyword and Boolean search using ("spinal cord infarction" OR "spinal cord ischemia" AND diagnosis OR management OR outcome) returned 221,571 results by applying filters. We added 17,400 results from Google Scholar. Fourteen studies were included in the quantitative meta-analysis of mean differences. Results: The Time to Nadir was <6 h (56.1%), 6-12 h (30.7%), 12-72 h (5.4%), and more than 72 h (7.8%). The higher proportion of Owl's eye findings in the MRI was reported at the cervical level (39.6%) and thoracic level (22.9%) P = 0.031. The T2DWI has a moderate accuracy (area under the curve = 0.835) in detecting the T2 hypersignal intensity (T2HSI) at the hyperacute time to NADIR (<6 h). The median modified Rankin Scale (mRS) at admission was 3 (2-3), and after a follow-up duration of 12 months (6-15.5), the median mRS was reported to be 1 (1-2). About 68.9% benefited from medical treatment and physiotherapy, whereas spinal surgical decompression was done in 22.8%. Seventy percent of the overall studies favor spinal surgical decompression, with the estimated average standardized mean difference between medical and surgical treatment being = 1.2083 (95% confidence interval: 1.0250-1.3917). Conclusion: The T2DWI has moderate accuracy in detecting the T2HSI at the hyperacute time (NADIR <6 h). Even though surgical decompression favored good outcomes, medical treatment with physiotherapy was mostly used for the management of SCI.
