Background: The incidence of papillary thyroid cancer (PTC) has increased dramatically, and it is susceptible to cervical lymph node metastasis (LNM), predominantly in the ipsilateral cervical central lymph node metastasis (CLNM). Ipsilateral cervical CLNM affects patients' surgical options and survival rates. In this study, we integrated multiple factors to establish a nomogram-based preoperative prediction model of ipsilateral cervical CLNM in PTC. Methods: Data were retrospectively collected from 609 patients with PTC admitted to Peking University International Hospital, all of whom underwent ipsilateral cervical lymph node dissection. They were randomly divided into a modeling set and validation set in the ratio of 7:3. Binary logistic regression was used to analyze independent risk factors for ipsilateral cervical CLNM in PTC and to construct a nomogram model. The performance of nomogram CLNM prediction was evaluated by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve and calibration curve. Results: Binary Logistic Regression showed that age, history of osteoporosis, complicated by Hashimoto's thyroiditis, enlarged lymph nodes in the central neck, and extrathyroidal extension were risk factors for ipsilateral cervical CLNM. Combining these five independent risk factors, a nomogram prediction model was developed. In the modeling set, the area under the curve (AUC) of the nomogram ROC was 0.782 [95% confidence interval (CI): 0.730-0.833], and the sensitivity and specificity of the model were 0.761 and 0.763, respectively, with a well-calibrated curve fit. Moreover, the model presented better discrimination than any of the independent risk factors. The nomogram performed well in the validation set (AUC 0.753; 95% CI: 0.648-0.858). Conclusions: A non-invasive, and accurate nomogram prediction model for ipsilateral cervical CLNM of PTC was established. It can help physicians identify patients with a high risk of ipsilateral cervical CLNM of PTC preoperative for individualized treatment.

OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to analyze the bacterial composition, distribution, drug sensitivity, and clinical characteristics of COVID-19 patients who develop bacterial co-infections. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective study of 184 COVID-19 patients admitted between December 2022 and January 2023. Data on gender, age, length of hospital stay, pneumonia classification, underlying diseases, invasive surgery, hormone therapy, inflammation indicators, and other relevant information were collected. Samples of sputum, bronchoscopy sputum, alveolar lavage fluid, middle urine, puncture fluid, wound secretions, and blood were collected for pathogen isolation, identification, and drug sensitivity testing. RESULTS: The majority of COVID-19 patients with bacterial co-infection were elderly and had underlying diseases. Invasive surgery and hormone therapy were identified as risk factors for co-infections. Laboratory analysis showed reduced lymphocyte count and elevated levels of CRP and PCT. The most common pathogens in co-infections were S. aureus, E. coli, K. pneumoniae, A. baumannii, and P. aeruginosa. The detection rate of drug-resistant strains, including MRSA, CRKP, CRAB, CRPA, and CRECO, increased with the severity of pneumonia. CONCLUSION: Respiratory tract infections were the most common site of bacterial co-infection in COVID-19 patients. Severe cases were more susceptible to multidrug-resistant pathogens, leading to a higher mortality rate. Timely control and prevention of co-infection are crucial for improving the prognosis of COVID-19 patients.

OBJECTIVE: Our study aimed to investigate the correlation between intraoperative hypothermia and postoperative delirium (POD) in patients undergoing general anesthesia for gastrointestinal surgery. METHODS: The study comprised 750 participants from the Perioperative Neurocognitive Disorder Risk Factor and Prognosis (PNDRFAP) study database, which ultimately screened 510 individuals in the final analysis. Preoperative cognitive function was evaluated using the Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE). The occurrence of POD was determined using the Confusion Assessment Method, and the severity of POD was evaluated using the Memorial Delirium Assessment Scale. Logistic regression was employed to scrutinize the association between intraoperative hypothermia and the incidence of POD, and the sensitivity analysis was conducted by introducing adjusted confounding variables. Decision curves and a nomogram model were utilized to assess the predictive efficacy of intraoperative hypothermia for POD. Mediation analysis involving 10,000 bootstrapped iterations was employed to appraise the suggested mediating effect of numeric rating scale (NRS) scores at 24 and 48 h post-surgeries. The receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) was utilized to evaluate the effectiveness of intraoperative hypothermia in predicting POD. RESULTS: In the PNDRFAP study, the occurrence of POD was notably higher in the intraoperative hypothermia group (62.2%) compared to the intraoperative normal body temperature group (9.8%), with an overall POD incidence of 17.6%. Logistic regression analysis, adjusted for various confounding factors (age [40-90], gender, education, MMSE, smoking history, drinking history, hypertension, diabetes, and the presence of cardiovascular heart disease), demonstrated that intraoperative hypothermia significantly increased the risk of POD (OR = 4.879, 95% CI = 3.020-7.882, p < .001). Mediation analyses revealed that the relationship between intraoperative hypothermia and POD was partially mediated by NRS 24 h after surgery, accounting for 14.09% of the association (p = .002). The area under the curve of the ROC curve was 0.685, which confirmed that intraoperative hypothermia could predict POD occurrence to a certain extent. Decision curve and nomogram analyses, conducted using the R package, further substantiated the predictive efficacy of intraoperative hypothermia on POD. CONCLUSION: Intraoperative hypothermia may increase the risk of POD, and this association may be partially mediated by NRS scores 24 h after surgery.

Preterm birth persists as a leading cause of infant mortality and morbidity despite decades of intervention effort. Intervention null effects may reflect failure to account for social determinants of health (SDH) or jointly acting risk factors. In some communities, persistent preterm birth trends and disparities have been consistently associated with SDH such as race/ethnicity, zip code, and housing conditions. Health authorities recommend conceptual frameworks for targeted action on SDH and precision public health approaches for preterm birth prevention. We document San Francisco, California's experience identifying the need, rationale, methods, and pilot work for developing a conceptual framework for preterm birth review (PTBR) in San Francisco. The PTBR conceptual framework is intended to enable essential public health services in San Francisco that prevent a range of preterm birth phenotypes by guiding plans for data collection, hypothesis testing, analytical methods, reports, and intervention strategy. Key elements of the PTBR conceptual framework are described including, 10 domains of SDH, 9 domains at the whole person level, such as lived experience and health behaviors, 8 domains at the within-person level, such as biomarkers and clinical measures, 18 preterm birth phenotypes, and the interconnections between domains. Assumptions for the PTBR conceptual framework were supported by a scoping review of literature on SDH effects on preterm birth, health authority consensus reports, and PTBR pilot data. Researcher and health authority interest in each of the domains warrants the framework to prompt systematic consideration of variables in each proposed domain. PTBR pilot data, illustrated in heatmaps, confirm the feasibility of data collection based on the framework, prevalence of co-occurring risk factors, potential for joint effects on specific preterm birth phenotypes, and opportunity for intervention to block SDH effects on preterm birth. The proposed PTBR conceptual framework has practical implications for specifying (1) population groups at risk, (2) grids or heatmap visualization of risk factors, (3) multi-level analyses, and (4) multi-component intervention design in terms of patterns of co-occurring risk factors. Lessons learned about PTBR data collection logistics, variable choice, and data management will be incorporated into future work to build PTBR infrastructure based on the PTBR conceptual framework.

BACKGROUND: Studies of risk factors for middle ear cholesteatoma surgery using population-based data are lacking. OBJECTIVES: To investigate the risk factors for cholesteatoma surgery in adults based on population data from Korea. MATERIALS AND METHODS: For this retrospective study, we used Korean National Health Insurance Service National Sample Cohort data. Patients who were 20 years or older and underwent mastoidectomy from 2006 through 2015 under the diagnostic codes of cholesteatoma were defined as patients with middle ear cholesteatoma surgery. The control group was comprised of the remaining database sample in 2006. Sociodemographic factors in 2006 and histories of medical diseases, allergic diseases, and chronic sinusitis from 2003 through 2005 were compared between cholesteatoma surgery and control groups. RESULTS: A total of 459 patients underwent cholesteatoma surgery. In multivariate Cox regression analysis, age 40-59 years and residence in metropolitan cities and small- and medium-sized cities and counties were significant risk factors for cholesteatoma surgery whereas allergic rhinitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, and chronic sinusitis were not significant risk factors for middle ear cholesteatoma surgery. CONCLUSIONS AND SIGNIFICANCE: The present study found no evidence of associations between allergic diseases or chronic sinusitis and cholesteatoma surgery in adults.

Background: Rapidly progressive osteoarthritis of the hip (RPOH) is a rare syndrome that involves the femoral head and acetabulum. Methods: We analyzed the incidence of RPOH in 2022. The inclusion criteria included a clinical history of pain for 1-6 months and a decrease in joint space of > 2 mm within one year or a decrease in joint space by 50% in that time accompanied by femoral and/or acetabular bone destruction. Exclusion: There are no other destructive arthropathies and no evolutionary radiological image sequence. Results: There were 15 patients, 16 hips, an incidence around 3.17%, a 1:1 laterality ratio, and 1 bilateral affected. The mean average age is 77.35 years. The male/female ratio is 1:2. The average BMI is 31.2. The time of the onset of the symptoms to the patient's diagnosis is 5 months. The functionally modified Harris scale (MHS) had an average score of 30 points. They had surgery hip arthroplasty with a cementless cup in all cases, a revision cup in one of them, and a double mobility cup in the other, with the stem cemented three times. There were no post-surgical complications. Functionally was achieved at 3 months. The average MHS is 70 at 12 months. The average MHS is 85. Conclusions: RPOH is an idiopathic entity characterized by great clinical involvement and rapid radiological evolution. It is most common in women around 77 years of age. The bone quality requires surgical alternatives to implants, and it has good functional recovery post-surgery.

Diagnosis of developmental dysplasia of the hip (DDH) mostly relies on physical examination and ultrasound, and both methods are operator-dependent. Late detection can lead to complications in young adults. Current evidence supports the involvement of environmental and genetic factors, such as single nucleotide variants (SNVs). Incorporating genetic factors into diagnostic methods would be useful for implementing early detection and management of affected individuals. Our aim was to analyze environmental factors and SNVs in DDH patients. We included 287 DDH cases and 284 controls. Logistic regression demonstrated an association for sex (OR 9.85, 95% CI 5.55-17.46, p = 0.0001), family history (OR 2.4, 95% CI 1.2-4.5, p = 0.006), fetal presentation (OR 3.19, 95% CI 1.55-6.54, p = 0.002), and oligohydramnios (OR 2.74, 95%CI 1.12-6.70, p = 0.026). A model predicting the risk of DDH including these variables showed sensitivity, specificity, PPV, and NPV of 0.91, 0.53, 0.74, and 0.80 respectively. The SNV rs1800470 in TGFB1 showed an association when adjusted for covariables, OR 0.49 (95% CI 0.27-0.90), p = 0.02. When rs1800470 was included in the equation, sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV were 0.90, 0.61, 0.84, and 0.73, respectively. Incorporating no-operator dependent variables and SNVs in detection methods could be useful for establishing uniform clinical guidelines and optimizing health resources.

Background: Lipoprotein(a) [Lp(a)] is a well-established risk factor for ischaemic stroke (IS). It is unclear whether Lp(a) is associated with IS in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF). The aim of this study is to explore the association between the concentration of Lp(a) and the risk of IS in AF patients, hope to find the potential risk factor for the IS in AF patients. Methods: This study is a retrospective cohort study. The screened AF patients between January 2017 and July 2021 were matched at 1:1 by the propensity score matching (PSM) method in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University. Associations between Lp(a) and ischaemic stroke were analysed using logistic regression models, stratified analysis and sensitivity analysis. Statistical analyses were conducted using IBM SPSS software. Results: The number of enrolled participates is 2258, which contains 1129 non-AF patients and 1129 AF patients. Among IS patients, the median Lp(a) concentration was higher than that of controls (17.03 vs. 15.36 mg/dL, P = 0.032). The Spearman rank-order correlation coefficients revealed significant positive relationships between IS and Lp(a) (P = 0.032). In addition, a significant increase in IS risk was associated with Lp(a) levels >30.00 mg/dL in unadjusted model [OR:1.263, 95% CI(1.046-1.523), P = 0.015], model 1 [OR:1.284, 95% CI(1.062,1.552), P = 0.010], model 2 [OR: 1.297, 95% CI(1.07,1.573). P = 0.008], and model 3 [OR: 1.290, 95% CI (1.064, 1.562). P = 0.009]. The stratified analysis indicated that this correlation was not affected by female sex [1.484 (1.117, 1.972), P = 0.006], age ≤ 60 [1.864 (1.067-3.254), P=0.029], hypertension [1.359 (1.074, 1.721), P = 0.011], or non-coronary heart disease (CHD) [1.388 (1.108, 1.738), P = 0.004]. Conclusion: High levels of Lp(a) were significantly related to IS in AF patients and may be a potential risk factor in the onset of an IS in AF patients.

Background Velopharyngeal insufficiency (VPI) is a major complication of cleft palate repair. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the incidence and predictive factors of VPI after cleft palate repair based on 27 years of one surgeon's experience. Methods Medical records were retrospectively reviewed for 652 patients who underwent cleft palate repair between 1995 and 2021. After exclusion of those with other syndromes or developmental disorders, the study included 374 patients with sufficient follow-up until the age of 4 years, when language evaluation was possible. VPI status was categorized through subjective and objective tests into normal, VPI, and borderline. We analyzed potential differences in VPI incidence by multiple factors. Factors with significance were analyzed to confirm the relationships between subvariables. Results Of the 374 patients, 311 (83.2%) exhibited normal pronunciation, 51 (13.6%) had VPI, and 12 (3.2%) were borderline. Primary cleft palate repair performed after 18 months was associated with a higher incidence of VPI than repair conducted before 18 months ( p = 0.005). The incidence of VPI was higher in cases of submucous cleft palate than in the other types based on the Veau classification ( p = 0.011). However, in the multivariable analysis, only the submucous type showed statistically significant results ( p = 0.026). Conclusion A total of 374 people underwent primary cleft palate repair, and 13.6% of those with VPI required secondary therapy. The incidence of VPI was relatively high among patients with primary cleft palate repair after 18 months and patients with submucous cleft palate.

INTRODUCTION: Urinary tract infection (UTI) has a lifetime incidence of ≥50% in women. A wide variety of clinical, physiological, and lifestyle risk factors for UTI have been identified, but the exact relationship between post-toilet anal and perineal hygiene practices, especially the wiping direction with toilet paper, and UTI risks has not been investigated yet. Therefore, this study cross-sectionally investigated the post-toilet wiping habit and lifetime UTI events in the general population. METHODS: Individuals who visited two hospitals in Japan between April 2020 and March 2023 were initially recruited. Self-reported questionnaires regarding post-toilet wiping habits and past UTI events were collected, and their relationship was investigated in males and females. Subgroup analyses by age were further performed to estimate the impact of age on the relationship. RESULTS: A total of 294 individuals (141 males and 153 females) agreed to participate and answered the question of post-toilet wiping direction. The number of individuals with post-toilet wiping with the arm from the front between the legs was 32 (23%) in males and 68 (44%) in females. The lifetime UTI events were more frequent in females than in males (p<0.0001). The impact of post-toilet wiping with the arm from the front between the legs on UTI events, adjusting for the age and history of diabetes mellitus, was not statistically significant both in males and females (p≥0.10 for both). Meanwhile, when the relationship was evaluated by different age groups, wiping habits from the front and UTI were significantly associated with each other in middle-aged women aged 40-59, whereas they were not in younger and older age groups. CONCLUSION: Approximately 40-50% of women performed post-toilet wiping with the arm from the front between the legs. This post-toilet wiping habit was suggested to be a potential risk of UTI in women, especially in middle-aged subgroups, and may be better to be changed to wiping from behind.

Background: The mortality rate of coronary artery disease ranks first in developed countries, and coronary revascularization therapy is an important cornerstone of its treatment. The postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs) in patients receiving one-stop hybrid coronary revascularization (HCR) aggravate the dysfunction of multiple organs such as the heart and lungs, therefore increasing mortality. However, the risk factors are still unclear. The objective of this study was to explore the risk factors of PPCs after HCR surgery. Methods: In this study, the perioperative data of 311 patients undergoing HCR surgery were reviewed. All patients were divided into two groups according to whether the PPCs occurred. The baseline information and surgery-related indicators in preoperative laboratory examination, intraoperative fluid management, and anesthesia management were compared between the two groups. Results: Advanced age [odds ratio (OR): 1.065, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.030-1.101, P<0.001], high body mass index (BMI; OR: 1.113, 95% CI: 1.011-1.225, P=0.02), history of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) surgery (OR: 2.831, 95% CI: 1.388-5.775, P=0.004), one-lung volume ventilation (OR: 3.804, 95% CI: 1.923-7.526, P<0.001), inhalation of high concentration oxygen (OR: 3.666, 95% CI: 1.719-7.815, P=0.001), the application of positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP; OR: 2.567, 95% CI: 1.338-4.926, P=0.005), and long one-lung ventilation time (OR: 1.015, 95% CI: 1.006-1.023, P=0.001) may be risk factors for postoperative PPCs in patients undergoing one-stop coronary revascularization surgery. Using the above seven factors to jointly predict the risk of PPCs in patients undergoing one-stop coronary revascularization surgery, the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve showed an area under the curve (AUC) =0.873, 95% CI: 0.835-0.911, sensitivity: 84.81%, and specificity: 75.82%; the predictive model was shown to be effective. Conclusions: Patients undergoing HCR surgery with advanced age, high BMI, a history of PCI surgery, one-lung volume ventilation, inhalation of high concentration oxygen, use of PEEP, and prolonged single lung ventilation are more prone to PPCs.

Background/Aim: The regimen with nanoliposomal irinotecan plus 5-fluorouracil and L-leucovorin (nal-IRI/FL) is used for metastatic pancreatic cancer. A clinical study has indicated that the uridine diphosphate-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT) 1A1 polymorphism is associated with neutropenia during nal-IRI/FL treatment; however, no studies have reported risk factors for the occurrence of adverse events in the clinical setting. This study aimed to explore the risk factors for adverse events of nal-IRI/FL. Patients and Methods: This study included patients with metastatic pancreatic cancer who started nal-IRI/FL treatment. Patient information, including laboratory data before nal-IRI/FL initiation and adverse events during nal-IRI/FL treatment, was retrospectively obtained from medical records. Results: This study consisted of 36 patients, including 16, 16, and 4 with UGT1A1*6 or *28 wild-type (-/-), heterozygous (+/-), and homozygous (+/+), respectively. Patients with UGT1A1*6 or *28 (+/+) exhibited significantly lower nadir counts of white blood cells (p=0.033) and neutrophils (p=0.043). Multiple regression analyses revealed that the decreased white blood cell count was significantly associated with the genotype of UGT1A1*6 or *28 (+/+) (p=0.009), high aspartate aminotransferase (AST) value before the therapy (p=0.019), and pancreatic head cancer (p=0.030). Also, the decreased neutrophil count was significantly related to the genotype of UGT1A1*6 or *28 (+/+) (p=0.017). Conclusion: Patients with UGT1A1*6 or *28 (+/+) should be especially concerned about neutropenia and leukopenia during nal-IRI/FL treatment. Additionally, high AST value and pancreatic head cancer may be risk factors for leukopenia during nal-IRI/FL treatment.

Background: Shoulder instabilities constitute a large proportion of shoulder injuries and have a wide range of presentations. While evidence regarding glenohumeral dislocations and associated risk factors has been reported, less is known regarding the full spectrum of instabilities and their risk factors. Purpose: The purpose of this systematic review was to identify modifiable risk factors to guide patient management decisions with regards to implementation of interventions to prevent or reduce the risk of shoulder instability. Study Design: Systematic Review. Methods: A systematic, computerized search of electronic databases (CINAHL, Cochrane, Embase, PubMed, SportDiscus, and Web of Science) was performed. Inclusion criteria were: (1) a diagnosis of shoulder instability (2) the statistical association of at least one risk factor was reported, (3) study designs appropriate for risk factors, (4) written in English, and (5) used an acceptable reference standard for diagnosed shoulder instability. Titles and abstracts were independently screened by at least two reviewers. All reviewers examined the quality studies using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS). At least two reviewers independently extracted information and data regarding author, year, study population, study design, criterion standard, and strength of association statistics with risk factors. Results: Male sex, participation in sport, hypermobility in males, and glenoid index demonstrated moderate to large risk associated with first time shoulder instability. Male sex, age \<30 years, and history of glenohumeral instability with concomitant injury demonstrated moderate to large risk associated with recurrent shoulder instability. Conclusion: There may be an opportunity for patient education in particular populations as to their increased risk for suffering shoulder instability, particularly in young males who appear to be at increased risk for recurrent shoulder instability. Level of Evidence: Level III.

MICROABSTRACT: This study evaluates the prognostic significance of obstructions in stage IIA colon cancer, distinguishing between partial and complete obstructions. It employs a retrospective review of 1914 patients with propensity score matching to analyze oncologic outcomes. Findings reveal complete obstruction as a significant risk factor for poorer outcomes, emphasizing the necessity for further research to refine treatment strategies, particularly regarding the efficacy of adjuvant chemotherapy across obstruction types. BACKGROUND: This study examined the prognostic impact of obstructions in stage IIA colon cancer. The analysis specifically differentiated partial and complete obstructions, analyzing their distinct influences of both on oncologic outcomes. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A retrospective review was conducted of stage IIA colon cancer cases with the presence of an obstruction. Patients were stratified by whether it was partial or complete based on the severity of obstruction. Propensity score matching was employed to control for confounders. RESULTS: Among 1914 consecutive patients diagnosed with stage IIA colon cancer, 758 patients (597 patients with partial obstruction, 161 patients with complete obstruction) exhibited obstruction, while 1156 patients had no obstruction. The median follow-up period was 126 months. Complete obstruction was associated with poorer disease-free survival (Hazard ratio (HR) = 1.785, P < .001) and overall survival (HR = 1.853, P = .001). This trend persisted after propensity score matching, patients with complete obstruction showing a worsened disease-free survival (HR = 1.666, P = .028) and overall survival (HR = 1.732, P = .041). Adjuvant chemotherapy showed improved outcomes overall, but its efficacy varied across obstruction types. CONCLUSION: Differentiating between complete and partial obstructions in stage IIA colon cancer is an important clinical distinction, as our findings suggest that complete obstruction is a significant risk factor for poorer oncologic outcomes. While adjuvant chemotherapy generally improves prognosis in stage IIA colon cancer, the correlation of obstruction type with its efficacy remains uncertain, necessitating further research to refine treatment strategies.

OBJECTIVE: To determine the characteristics and risk factors of breast cancer patients in a tertiary care setting. METHODS: The retrospective, cross-sectional study was conducted at the Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation, Karachi, and comprised data of all patients diagnosed with breast cancer from March 2017 to December 2021. Demographic characteristics, clinical presentation, stage of the disease and histopathological characteristics were noted. Data related to all the variables was not available in all cases. Data was analysed using SPSS 23. RESULTS: Of the 690 patients, 683(99%) were females and 7(1%) were males. The mean age at presentation was 49.3±13.5 years, while the mean duration of symptoms was 10.24±17.64) months. Most of the females were married 642(93%) and multiparous 484(70.9%), while 293(42.5%) had breastfed their children for >1 year, and 412(59.7%) had no history of contraception use. The most common stage at presentation was stage II (48.6%), and most patients had grade II 395(57.2%) invasive ductal carcinoma, with Luminal A molecular subtype noted in 287(41.6%) cases. CONCLUSIONS: The characteristics of breast cancer in the sample had certain distinctions compared to other populations. It is important to integrate all datasets and develop guidelines appropriate to Pakistani population.

Purpose: It is unclear whether different injury mechanisms lead to divergent anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear locations. This study aims to analyse the relationship between bone bruise (BB) distribution or depth and ACL tear location. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 446 consecutive patients with acute non-contact ACL injury was performed. Only patients with complete ACL tears verified during subsequent arthroscopy were included. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was used to classify BB location, BB depth, ACL tear location and concomitant injuries (medial/lateral meniscus and medial/lateral collateral ligament). Demographic characteristics included age, gender, body mass index (BMI), type of sport and time between injury and MRI. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to identify independent predictors of ACL tear location. Results: One hundred and fifty-eight skeletally mature patients met the inclusion criteria. The presence of BB in the lateral tibial plateau was associated with a more distal ACL tear location (ß = -0.27, p < 0.001). Less BB depth in the lateral femoral condyle showed a tendency towards more proximal ACL tears (ß = -0.14; p = 0.054). Older age predicted a more proximal ACL tear location (ß = 0.31, p < 0.001). No significant relationship was found between ACL tear location and gender, BMI, type of sport, concomitant injuries and time between injury and MRI. Conclusion: ACL tear location after an acute non-contact injury is associated with distinct patterns of BB distribution, particularly involving the lateral compartment, indicating that different injury mechanisms may lead to different ACL tear locations.
