RESUMO

Colonization of new habitats is a key event in forming current distributions in organisms. It has been speculated that freshwater fish eggs can be dispersed passively by attaching to or egestion from waterbirds that arrive in wetland habitats. Recent research showed that some freshwater fish eggs could be excreted alive from birds and then successfully hatch, but scientific evidence of bird-mediated fish dispersal is still limited to endozoochory (internal transport through a bird's digestive tract). Here, we experimentally suggest the dispersal potential in another way or epizoochory (external dispersal by attaching to waterbirds), using medaka Oryzias latipes, which spawns on aquatic plants. Our field experiment showed that waterbirds could carry artificial aquatic plants among waterbodies. Medaka eggs attached to aquatic plants could survive in the air for up to 18 h with a median lethal period of 16.3 h. Those two findings raise the possibility of the epizoochory of medaka in nature.

INTRODUCTION: Anacanthorus silvoi n. sp. (Dactylogyridae, Anacanthorinae) is described from the gills of Hoplias aff. malabaricus (Bloch, 1794) from the Salgado River, Ceará state, Brazil. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The monogeneans were affixed onto slides using Gray and Wess's medium for examination of their sclerotized structures. For analysis of internal organs, a single specimen was preserved in 5% formalin, stained with Gomori's trichrome, and mounted in Gray and Wess's medium. RESULTS: Anacanthorus silvoi n. sp. is characterized by having a short broad tube MCO with a medial constriction (i.e., MCO with distal region wider than the proximal region, and flexed lateral flap in the distal region in A. cururutuiensis and a MCO with a small projection in the form of a hook in the distal region in A. siphonocommus). CONCLUSIONS: The present study corroborates previous studies that the absence of an accessory piece is a characteristic shared by all Anacanthorus members parasites of Erythrinidae.

Flow regulation and the spread of invasive species are significant threats to freshwater biodiversity, including native fish communities in rivers across the globe. The bleak (Alburnus alburnus), an invasive fish currently widespread throughout the main rivers of the Iberian Peninsula, threatens native fish biodiversity, mostly via trophic competition and hybridisation. In this study, we assessed the impacts of bleak presence and rapid flow fluctuations (both main and interactive effects) on the use of artificial habitats (a flow refuge) and the stress physiology of barbels. We examined how bleak's presence influenced the selection of flow refuges by the native Iberian barbel (Luciobarbus bocagei) under base (continuous 7 L s-1 flow stimulus) and pulsed (7 L s-1 to a 60 L s-1 pulse) flows in an indoor flume. We quantified habitat use within three specific regions of two installed flow refuges and two physiological responses (glucose and lactate) associated with the stress axis. The results indicated that the presence of bleak significantly reduced flow refuge use by barbels and this effect was more prominent during pulsed flows. Additionally, barbels exhibited higher levels of glucose and lactate in the presence of bleaks. These results show that bleaks compete with barbels for habitat under fluctuating flows and induce physiological adjustments that may reduce the ability of barbels to find low-velocity areas to shelter. Overall, the bleaks had a competitive advantage under high flow variability. This underscores the need for further studies and effective management strategies to protect native freshwater fish communities in the context of biological invasions and anthropogenic flow variability.

Optimal egg size theory implies that female organisms balance between fecundity and individual offspring investment according to their environment. Past interspecific studies suggest that fishes in large marine systems generally produce smaller eggs than those in small freshwater systems. We tested whether intraspecific egg size variation reflected a similar pattern by comparing egg size among yellow perch (Perca flavescens) populations inhabiting a range of system sizes. In 2018, 2019, and 2023, we collected yellow perch egg samples from 12 locations in systems ranging in surface area from 37 to 5,390,492 ha. First, we found that egg diameter significantly increased with maternal total length in five of eight individually tested populations. After accounting for these maternal effects, we found a significant interaction, where females inhabiting larger lakes, such as the main basins of Lakes Erie and Michigan, produced smaller eggs than those in smaller inland lakes, and the greatest differences were demonstrated among females of greater total length. This egg size variation in the largest females is consistent with interspecific egg size comparisons between marine and freshwater fishes. However, by examining a single species across vastly different environments, we were able to support theoretical expectations that maternal investment in offspring should vary with environmental conditions controlling early-life resource acquisition and competition.

Although Microphysogobiotungtingensis (Nichols, 1926) has been treated valid since it was described, its morphology remains vague, especially when comparing it with another similar species, M.elongatus (Yao & Yang, 1977). In this study, the types of both species were examined and also compared with several lots of specimens from a wide geographical range: there is no significant difference in morphology between them. Additionally, molecular evidence supported by mitochondrial gene sequence also showed low genetic distance in between. Thus, it is suggested that M.elongatus is a junior synonym of M.tungtingensis. While revising these two species, a new species, Microphysogobiopunctatus sp. nov., was discovered that has a similar distribution with them both. However, it can be distinguished from its congeners by having a globular or oval shaped posterior air-bladder chamber which length 58.6%-82.8% of eye diameter; a narrow upper jaw cutting edge which less than half mouth width; a slender caudal peduncle with depth 34.6%-48.5% of length; and a six-branched-ray anal fin. This new species also has numerous small black spots on all fins which is also unique. The new species is morphologically and molecularly close to M.bicolor (Nichols, 1930).

Species invading non-native habitats can cause irreversible environmental damage and economic harm. Yet, how introduced species become widespread invaders remains poorly understood. Adaptation within native-range habitats and rapid adaptation to new environments may both influence invasion success. Here, we examine these hypotheses using 7058 SNPs from 36 native, 40 introduced and 19 farmed populations of tench, a fish native to Eurasia. We examined genetic structure among these populations and accounted for long-term evolutionary history within the native range to assess whether introduced populations exhibited lower genetic diversity than native populations. Subsequent to infer genotype-environment correlations within native-range habitats, we assessed whether adaptation to native environments may have shaped the success of some introduced populations. At the broad scale, two glacial refugia contributed to the ancestry and genomic diversity of tench. However, native, introduced and farmed populations of admixed origin exhibited up to 10-fold more genetic diversity (i.e., observed heterozygosity, expected heterozygosity and allelic richness) compared to populations with predominantly single-source ancestry. The effects of introduction to a new location were also apparent as introduced populations exhibited fewer private alleles (mean = 9.9 and 18.9 private alleles in introduced and native populations, respectively) and higher population-specific Fst compared to native populations, highlighting their distinctiveness relative to the pool of allelic frequencies across tench populations. Finally, introduced populations with varying levels of genetic variation and similar genetic compositions have become established and persisted under strikingly different climatic and ecological conditions. Our results suggest that lack of prior adaptation and low genetic variation may not consistently hinder the success of introduced populations for species with a demonstrated ability to expand their native range.

Dissolved organic carbon (DOC) is a complex mixture of molecules that varies in composition based on origin as well as spatial and temporal factors. DOC is an important water quality parameter as it regulates many biological processes in freshwater systems, including the physiological function of the gills in fish. These effects are often beneficial, especially at low pH where DOCs mitigate ion loss and protect active ion uptake. DOCs of different compositions and quality have varied ionoregulatory effects. The molecular variability of DOCs can be characterized using optical and chemical indices, but how these indices relate to the physiological effects exerted by DOCs is not well understood. We tested the effects of five naturally sourced DOCs, at both pH 7 and pH 4, on transepithelial potential (TEP) (a diffusion potential between the blood plasma and the external water) in rainbow trout. The five chosen DOCs have been well characterized and span large differences in physicochemical characteristics. Each of the DOCs significantly influenced TEP, although in a unique manner or magnitude which was likely due to their physicochemical characteristics. These TEP responses were also a function of pH. With the goal of determining which physicochemical indices are predictive of changes in TEP, we evaluated correlations between various indices and TEP at pH 7 and pH 4. The indices included: specific absorbance coefficient at 340 nm, molecular weight index, fluorescence index, octanol-water partition coefficient, molecular charge, proton binding index, % humic acid-like, % fulvic acid-like, and % protein-like components by parallel factor analysis on fluorescence data (PARAFAC). Our results demonstrate the novel finding that there are three particularly important indices that are predictors of changes in TEP across pHs in rainbow trout: specific absorbance coefficient at 340 nm, octanol-water partition coefficient; and proton binding index.

Deforestation can increase light penetration and runoff entering adjacent freshwaters leading to increased average water temperature, stronger diel temperature fluctuations, and increased water turbidity. Changes in temperature extremes (particularly upper peaks) are important for fishes as their body temperature and rate of oxygen consumption varies with environmental temperature. Here, we compare effects of diel-fluctuating versus stable water temperature regimes on the behaviour and upper thermal tolerance (measured as Critical Thermal Maximum, CTmax) of the Bluntnose Minnow, Pimephales notatus. Fish were acclimated to either a static 18°C, static 24°C or a diel-fluctuating treatment of low to high (18-24°C) for a total of 10 weeks. Activity level and aggression were measured for 6 consecutive weeks during the acclimation period. Activity level remained high across treatments and over time. However, fish from the diel-fluctuating treatment exhibited a significant increase in aggression over the day as temperatures increased from 18°C to 24°C. Following acclimation, upper thermal limits of fish from each treatment were measured under two conditions: clear water (<2 NTU) and turbid water (25 NTU). This was to evaluate effects of acute turbidity exposure that might arise with heavy rain on deforested streams. CTmax was lowest in fish acclimated to static 18°C and highest in fish acclimated to static 24°C; fish acclimated to diel 18-24°C showed an intermediate CTmax. Exposure to acute turbidity during CTmax trials significantly lowered CTmax across all treatments, highlighting the importance of multiple-stressor studies in evaluating upper thermal tolerance of fishes.

Pesticides are commonly used in agriculture and aquaculture. Triazophos, an organophosphate-based pesticide, is widely used in agriculture to control many insect pests. Due to its high photochemical stability and mode of action, Triazophos could persist in the aquatic ecosystem and cause toxic effects on non-target organisms. We have studied the potential toxic effects of Triazophos on L. rohita. Primarily, we determined the median lethal concentration (LC50) of Triazophos for 24 and 96 h. Next, we studied acute (96 h, LC50-96 h) toxicity. Then, we studied chronic (35 days, 1/10th LC50-24 h Treatment I: 0.609 mg/L, 1/5th LC50-96 h Treatment II: 1.044 mg/L) toxicity. We analyzed blood biomarkers such as hematology (Hb, Hct, RBC, WBC, MCV, MCH and MCHC), prolactin, cortisol, glucose and protein levels. Concurrently, we analyzed tissue biomarkers such as glycogen, GOT, GPT, LDH and histopathology. IBRv2 index assessment method was also to evaluate the Triazophos toxicity. Studied hematological, hormonal, biochemical and enzymological biomarkers were affected in Triazophos treated groups when compare to the control group. The changes in these biomarkers were statistically significant at the 0.05 alpha level. Triazophos exposed fish shown a severe degenerated primary and secondary lamellae, lamellar fusion, hypertrophy and telangiectasia in the gills. In the hepatic tissue, it caused moderate necrosis, blood congestion, distended sinusoids with minor vacuolation, prominent pyknotic nuclei, hypertrophy, cloudy swelling of cells, lipid accumulation and fibrotic lesions. In the renal tissue, Triazophos caused thickening of Bowman's capsule, hyaline droplets degeneration, irregular renal corpuscle, congestion, cellular swelling, degeneration of tubular epithelium, necrosis, shrunken glomerulus, vacuolated glomerulus, hypertrophy, exudate and edema. IBRv2 analysis suggested that tissue biomarkers are highly sensitive to Triazophos toxicity and prolonged exposure could cause serious health effects like acute toxicity in fish. Triazophos could cause multiorgan toxicity at studied concentrations.

RESUMO

A new species of Characidium shared by adjacent tributaries of the upper portions of the Tapajós and Xingu river basins is described. Characidium varii, new species, can be distinguished from the congeners by having distinctly speckled pattern of colouration, including dark blotches on cheek and ventral surface of head, by having conspicuous dark marks on fins, along with a single row of dentary teeth, isthmus completely covered by scales, 14 circumpeduncular scales, and swimbladder reduced. Molecular data reinforce the validation of the new species. The distribution of C. varii supports the hypothesis of the existence of a faunistic mixing between Tapajós and Xingu river basins, corresponding to the region of the Serra do Cachimbo and surrounding areas, previously proposed in the literature.

Amphibians, the most threatened vertebrates globally, face risks due to climate change, habitat loss, and fragmentation. Their sensitivity to environmental changes highlights their importance as ecological indicators. Temporary rivers, influenced by geological, climatic, and anthropogenic factors, play a critical role in shaping biodiversity and community structure. Some species of amphibians may be adapted to these temporary waters, a fact reflected in their life cycles and various biological traits. However, to develop effective conservation strategies for amphibians, it is essential to address the knowledge gaps surrounding the complex interactions between biological dynamics and fluvial habitat conditions. In this study, we investigated how trophic interactions between amphibians and other aquatic organisms (diatoms, macroinvertebrates, and fish), coupled with environmental factors (water availability and riparian structure), can affect amphibian abundance and diversity in temporary rivers. The study was conducted in a Mediterranean river network located in Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park (Catalonia, Spain). Our expectations were that habitats suitable for egg deposition, lacking predators (e.g. tadpole-predators and fish), and abundant in food sources would likely support higher amphibian abundance and diversity. However, water availability was identified as a crucial factor shaping abundance and diversity in the studied amphibian communities, even if it correlated with fish presence, and especially impacting amphibian species usually linked to permanent water bodies. Concerning biotic interactions, while our results suggested that amphibian populations in temporary rivers are more dependent on top-down than bottom-up interactions, the presence of aquatic predators was not as conclusive as expected, suggesting that in temporary rivers the fish-avoiding amphibian species can survive using microhabitats or breeding opportunities linked to natural river dynamics. Overall, our findings highlight the importance of considering multi-trophic interactions, hydroperiod and habitat heterogeneity in temporary river ecosystems for effective amphibian conservation.

The practice of hybridization is carried out globally in fish farms. Here, we present the first record of the parasitic fauna of hybrids among genus Colossoma and Piaractus in natural environments. We identified a total of 48 hybrids, nine F1 hybrids (nuclear DNA from both species present in the cross) and 38 advanced hybrids (nuclear DNA from one species), both from crosses between Piaractus brachypomus and Piaractus mesopotamicus, and one F1 "tambacu" corresponding to cross between Colossoma macropomum and Piaractus mesopotamicus. This is the first record of Anacanthorus penilabiatus, Anacanthorus toledoensis, Mymarothecium viatorum, Mymarothecium ianwhittington, Haementeria sp., Dadaytrema oxycephala, Rondonia rondoni, and Echinorhynchus gomesi parasitizing hybrids collected in a natural environment. With this, we expand knowledge about the diversity of fish and parasites in the upper Paraná River and warn about the risk that fish escapes can cause in the basin.

Fishes from the genus Carasobarbus, widely distributed throughout the river systems of North Africa and West Asia, are commonly referred to as Himris. In the Persian Gulf basin, they are widespread and are also found in fast-flowing rivers or the deeper regions of lakes. In this region, representation of these fishes in scientific collections is scarce, and except for C. luteus, the other species are very poorly documented and frequently misidentified due to their similarities. In this study we analysed the relationships among Carasobarbus species using mitochondrial genes (Cyt b, COI) and present morphological characters based on examinations. Our results revealed three new species which we describe here. Carasobarbus doadrioi, new species, is distinguished by 40-44 scales on the lateral line and a prominent black blotch on end of caudal peduncle in specimens < 85 mm SL. Carasobarbus hajhosseini, new species is distinguished by 32-34 scales on the lateral line and long head length (20-24% SL). Carasobarbus saadatii, new species, is distinguished by 38-40 scales on the lateral line and short head length (19-20% HL). In the Persian Gulf basin, Carasobarbus species exhibit uncorrected genetic distances of 1.6 to 5.5% in the COI barcode region and 2.6% to 9.9% in the Cyt b gene. This study highlights the importance of investigating the unexplored diversity that exists within poorly sampled and understudied freshwater fish group. Such investigations are essential for developing a comprehensive understanding of the true extent of biodiversity, which is critical for informing effective conservation and protection strategies.

The majority of myxosporean species (Cnidaria: Myxozoa) of the genera Myxobolus (35 species), Henneguya (8 species), and Myxidium (9 species) from freshwater or brackish fish in Japan were recorded more than 30 years ago (accumulatively 81.1% [43/53]). The re-discovery and molecular-genetic characterization of these species is a current research priority. During our myxosporean survey in Japanese freshwater fish, we detected three species that had never been recorded in Japan, but in the Russian Far East (Sakhalin Island, and Maritime Province): Myxobolus tribolodonus sp. n., forming cysts in the gills of Tribolodon sachalinensis (syn. M. marinus sensu Aseeva, 2000; M. marinus sensu Sokolov et Frolova, 2015, recorded from the gills of Pseudaspius (syn. Tribolodon) spp.); Henneguya pungitii Achmerov, 1953, forming cysts in the subcutis of external skin and buccal submucosa of Pungitius sinensis; and Myxidium salvelini Konovalov et Shulman, 1966, in the urinary bladder of Oncorhynchus masou ishikawae. These new isolates were characterized by integrated taxonomic approaches, i.e., myxospore morphology and molecular-genetic characterization of the small subunit ribosomal RNA gene (SSU rDNA). These new isolates were phylogenetically differentiated from any species whose SSU rDNA sequences were deposited in the DNA databases, and concurrently compared with recorded species based on classical morphological criteria. All three species were differentiated from myxosporeans previously recorded in Japan, indicating new distribution records out of the Russian Far East. For reliable species identification, accumulation of at least SSU rDNA sequences of known species worldwide is critically important.

Parasitism by protozoa and monogenean flatworms in freshwater fish from Romania was studied by collecting and examining samples from two major river systems there: 183 fish from 17 species from the Olt River and its tributaries; and 155 fish from 16 species from the Mureș River and its tributary, Târnava Mare. The average rates of parasitism in the samples from the two rivers and their tributaries were as follows: Ichthyiophthirius multifiliis (2%), Trichodina spp. (21%), Apiosoma spp. (18%), Mixobolus spp. (8%), Dactylogyrus spp. (9%), and Gyrodactylus spp. (10%). The number of parasite species varied from one river to another. I. multifiliis was found in only 3 fish species, Trichodina spp. in 13 species, Glosatella spp. in 6 species, and Mixobollus spp., Dactylogyrus spp., and Gyrodactylus spp. in 7 different species each. The highest number of parasite species (six) were identified in the European chub (Squalius cephalus) and schneider (Alburnoides bipunctatus), which seem more susceptible to parasitic infections. The aquatic environment of these rivers may represent a source of parasites for fish from neighboring countries through which these rivers pass.

Outbreaks of bacterial diseases occur in farmed Chinese longsnout catfish (Leiocassis longirostris). Due to limited information on aquatic Klebsiella variicola-infected animals, this study aimed to identify strain LL2208 isolated from diseased L. longirostris, determine its biological features, and evaluate its risk to public health. Strain LL2208 was tested for molecular identification, challenge, string, biofilm formation, and antimicrobial susceptibility. Furthermore, the whole genome of the strain was sequenced and analyzed. Based on molecular identification, strain LL2208 was identified as K. variicola. Artificial infection showed that this strain was moderately virulent to L. longirostris with an LD50 = 7.92 × 107 CFU/mL. Antibiotic sensitivity tests showed that this strain was resistant to penicillins, macrolides, aminoglycosides, amphenicols, glycopeptides, and lincosamide, indicating multidrug resistance. Strain LL2208 has a genome size of 5,557,050 bp, with a GC content of 57.38%, harboring 30 antimicrobial resistance genes and numerous virulence-related genes. Its molecular type was ST595-KL16-O5. Collinearity analysis showed that strain LL2208 was highly similar to the human-derived K. variicola strain. In conclusion, the multidrug-resistant and virulent K. variicola strain LL2208 was isolated from fish and may have originated from humans. These results provide a foundation for further studies on the transmission of K. variicola between humans and aquatic animals.

Freshwater fish that are acutely exposed to copper (Cu) can experience disturbances of ion regulation and ammonia excretion. Temperature has been shown to affect Cu bioaccumulation and toxicity in fish, but the focus has largely been on warm temperature effects. Yet, acclimation of freshwater fish to near-freezing temperatures encountered during the winter of temperate regions can challenge fish condition and physiology, including ion regulation. Thus, temperate freshwater fish might be particularly sensitive to Cu in the winter. We investigated how winter cold affects acute Cu bioaccumulation and toxicity in juvenile brook char (Salvelinus fontinalis). Following gradual acclimation to cold temperature (-2 °C/week from 14 °C, then 4 weeks at 3 °C) vs. a warmer temperature around the species thermal optimum (14 °C for 9 weeks), and following a cold challenge (-3 °C/day from 14 °C, then 24 h at 3 °C) vs. a cold acclimation (-2 °C/week from 14 °C, then 13 weeks at 3 °C), we measured gill-Cu bioaccumulation, net fluxes of ammonia (NH3), chloride (Cl-) and net and unidirectional fluxes of sodium (Na+) over a 30-h Cu exposure. Overall, winter cold did not appear to be challenging to brook char, as cold-acclimated fish had a higher fish condition and showed no sign of ion regulation impairment or increased Cu sensitivity. Contrary to our prediction, we found that Cu bioaccumulation over a 30-h Cu exposure was not significantly affected by acclimation temperature. Effects of temperature on Cu physiological effects were relatively limited (mainly on inhibition of Na+ influx and of NH3 excretion), with slightly greater effects observed in 14 °C-acclimated fish.

Fish are excellent bioindicators and can reveal the presence of plastic in the environment. Diagnosing the composition and abundance of polymers in the fish diet makes it possible to evaluate their point sources and possible trophic transfers. We aimed to use the gastrointestinal contents of Poecilia reticulata in subtropical urban streams to detect the occurrence, shape, color, size, and chemical composition of polymers. For this, the diet of 240 individuals was analyzed using the volumetric method, and the microplastics (MPs; < 5 mm) recorded were characterized using Raman spectroscopy. Individuals predominantly consumed organic detritus and aquatic macroinvertebrates, with higher proportions of Diptera. A total of 111 plastic particles (< 0.5 to 12 mm) were recorded, and a subset of 14.4% was subjected to a micro-Raman spectrometer (830 nm excitation). The occurrence of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polypropylene (PP) with phthalocyanine dye was recorded. Some fragments could not be identified by Raman, but they contained indigo blue dye. Poecilia reticulata had a predominantly detritivorous diet with a record of plastic consumption, reflecting environmental pollution. Our results demonstrate that individuals of P. reticulata have ingested MPs in urban streams. This reinforces the need for future studies on the relationship between the presence of MPs in fish and the level of pollution in streams, comparisons with species of different feeding habits, and the potentially harmful effects on the entire biota.

Climate change, with its profound effects on stream sediment, hydrological, and temperature dynamics, will exacerbate impacts on habitat conditions for many species, particularly those with vulnerable early life stages relying on the hyporheic zone, such as gravel-spawning fishes. Due to the complex and interactive nature of multiple stressor effects, we employed large-scale outdoor mesocosms to systemically test how the reproductive success of three gravel-spawning fish species brown trout (Salmo trutta), nase, (Chrondrostoma nasus) and Danube salmon (Hucho hucho) was affected by individual and combined effects of warming (+3-4 °C), fine sediment (increase in <0.85 mm by 22 %) and low-flow (eightfold discharge-reduction). Fine sediment had the most detrimental effect on emergence rate and fry length in all three species, reducing the emergence rate to zero in brown trout, 9 % in nase, and 4 % in Danube salmon. The emergence mortality caused by fine sediment surpassed that of hatching distinctly, suggesting that negative effects due to hypoxia were considerably exacerbated by entombment. Warming had only minor effects as a single stressor, but low flow reduced emergence rates of the spring spawning species nase and Danube salmon by 8 and 50 %, respectively. In combined treatments including fine sediment, however, the emergence success of all three species responded strongly negatively, even in the cyprinid species nase, which showed little interactive effects between stressors regarding hatching success. Warming and fine sediment also led to the earlier emergence of fry, implying a risk of asynchrony with available food resources. This study dramatically shows that climate change can have deleterious impacts on the reproductive success of gravel-spawning fish species, irrespective of taxonomic or ecological traits.

OBJECTIVE: To understand the mineral content of freshwater fish produced in Shaanxi Province and evaluate its related nutritional value. METHODS: According to the 2021 Shaanxi Provincial nutrition monitoring plan, the 9 mineral contents of 13 varieties of freshwater fish, produced in Shaanxi province, were determined by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. The nutritional evaluation of mineral elements was carried out by using the index of nutritional quality(INQ) method. Simultaneously, the correlation between 9 minerals and energy was analyzed by SPSS software. RESULTS: Among the 13 fish species, the contents of P and K were highest, with content ranges of 169-255 and 159-373 mg/100 g, respectively, followed by sodium, calcium, magnesium, iron, zinc. The contents of copper and manganese were lowest. The nutritional evaluation showed that the INQ values of P, K and Mg were than 1, the INQ value of P was highest, which was 4.57-8.72. Some fish have INQ values greater than 1 for calcium, iron, copper and zinc. The correlation between the nine minerals was not strong, as a whole. Only some elements have a correlation coefficient greater than 0.6, indicating that there was a synergistic accumulation effect or antagonistic effect in the fish body. CONCLUSION: The dominant mineral elements in different species of fish were different. However, most fish species can be used as high-quality food sources of phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, copper and zinc.
