RESUMO
Endometriomas are associated with severe endometriosis and are uncommon in asymptomatic women. Reported cases of giant endometriomas are few especially in pregnancy. Decidualization of endometriomas can mimic malignancies in pregnancy. Fetal outcomes can be good after excision of large endometriomas in the 2nd trimester. We present a case of giant endometrioma diagnosed in an asymptomatic woman who developed symptoms after becoming pregnant. Clinical findings, investigations, and histopathology were consistent with ovarian endometrioma. Maternal and fetal outcomes were good after the excision of the mass.
RESUMO
Mucinous ovarian carcinoma is a less-prevalent subtype of epithelial tumors. We present a case of giant mucinous ovarian carcinoma weighing 41.1 kg in a 24-year-old Indian girl. Benign mucinous tumors have the potential to reach an enormous size but such a huge malignant mucinous tumor is very rare in literature and its occurrence in a young female is even rarer.
RESUMO
Large ovarian tumours are rare. Various diagnostic modalities are used to help in confirming the size and type of ovarian tumours. Laparotomy in a lateral decubitus position under general anaesthesia is the most common treatment approach. Here we present a case of a 17-year-old unmarried girl from whom a 13 kg ovarian tumor was resected. We highlight in this case report the mental stress that a patient goes through when accused of having an extramarital pregnancy by the community in a conservative society like ours. Furthermore, the importance of psychological support and counselling is paramount.
