O lazer, a periferia da metrópole e os jovens: algumas relações

RESUMO

O presente artigo propõe-se a discorrer a respeito dos aspectos que marcam o lazer na periferia da cidade de São Paulo e sobre como os jovens experimentam o lazer em tempos marcados pela influência quase implacável da indústria cultural. Conclui-se que na periferia desta capital faltam opções variadas de lazer, que os habitantes dessas áreas atribuem grande importância ao lazer e que essa esfera da vida pode representar para os jovens uma rica experiência pessoal e social, na qual o grupo tem importante papel. A existência de espaços que permitam a convivência faz-se essencial.

ABSTRACT

The present paper's purpose is to discuss those aspects that mark leisure in the outskirts of the city of São Paulo and how young people experience leisure in times marked by the almost implacable influence of the cultural industry. Conclusions point that this capital's outskirts lack assorted options in leisure; the inhabitants of these areas attribute great importance to leisure; and this sphere of life may represent a rich personal and social experience to young people, for whom the group is extremely important. The existence of spaces that allow for such cohabitation is essential.
