RESUMEN

La deficiencia de hierro es la carencia nutricional más frecuente en todo el mundo. El Helicobacter pylori es una bacteria gramnegativa, agente etiológico de la infección crónica más frecuente en los humanos. Al parecer este germen tiene una notable influencia sobre el metabolismo del hierro y en la actualidad existen muchas evidencias de su relación directa con la anemia ferropénica. En este artículo se investigan los aspectos más sobresalientes de este interesante e importante tema.

ABSTRACT

Iron-deficiency is the most frequent nutritional lack in the world. Helicobacter pylori is a gram-negative bacterium, an etiological agent of the most common chronic infection among humans. It seems that this germ has a remarkable influence on iron metabolism and, nowadays, there are many evidences of its direct relation to iron-deficiency anemia. The most significant aspects of this interesting and important topic are investigated in this paper.
