[Initial management of new onset ascites in patient with cirrhosis]. / Prise en charge initiale de l'ascite inaugurale chez le patient cirrhotique.

ABSTRACT

Ascites is the most frequent complication of cirrhosis and represents a significant change for the patient because the impact on mortality and quality of life is important. The management of a patient with initial onset of ascites includes a full history, a clinical exam and complementary analysis. This systematic approach allows an etiologic diagnosis. The aim of this article is to review the etiologies encountered in the initial onset of ascites in patient suffering from cirrhosis, to help the diagnosis and start initial management.

L'ascite est la complication la plus fréquente de la cirrhose et représente un tournant évolutif pour les malades. En effet, elle a un impact non négligeable sur la mortalité de ces derniers et sur leur qualité de vie. Lors de la prise en charge d'un patient avec une décompensation inaugurale ascitique, l'anamnèse, le status et les examens paracliniques doivent suivre une systématique permettant un diagnostic étiologique. Cet article a pour objectif de passer en revue les étiologies rencontrées dans la décompensation inaugurale ascitique chez un patient atteint de cirrhose et de guider la démarche diagnostique, ainsi que la prise en charge initiale.
